A great lodge with great staff, but we had issues. First the good stuff. The space is nice, the staff are excellent, there are several food options, pool, and very kid friendly -- my daughter ate free because of her age. And the bed was very firm which I appreciated after driving ~800 miles over 3 days. And while the it is a ways away from Banff and other destinations, it is quite and beautiful. But...

We visited in August, and since the lodge is designed for winter visitors and doesn't have A/C the room was HOT. We were upgraded to one of the two floor rooms where the beds are upstairs -- which was a bit of a disadvantage in the summer since heat rises. The room was sealed up and the shades open so it was very HOT and it took a until the next morning to cool down. We enjoyed the nice pool, but the hot tub was closed because they were cleaning out some insects that had bitten some guests. And finally, the ceiling fan above our beds seemed to be on the same remote frequency as another nearby room so at 1AM and 6:30AM, I was fighing with the other room to keep the fan speed down and the light off.

The next day the maintenance crew fixed the fan issue and after we cooled down the room (and kept the shades drawn) the room didn't get too hot again.

This place has no heat or air conditioning currently in any room. It is not mentioned when you book but when you check in. Normal places advise you of these things (pool maintenance, parking issues etc) This is an ongoing issue (see reviews from ad early as Feb of this year. They did provide space heaters which unfortunately are not adequate for 2 floor loft rooms. P We showed up at 3pm to check in and room was not ready. Was told by front desk staff they would call once room is ready. When we didn't get a call by 10:30pm we returned to the hotel. Desk agent said she personally tried to call be but got a wrong number. Asked her to call again and guess what? My cell phone rang. Then she said she may have dialed the wrong number. Wouldn't you double check the number for an error if that was the case?
Being Titanium Elite I spend on average 80 nights a year at Marriott properties, from 5 star Ritz Carltons to Courtyards. This place probably ranks at the bottom. From the lack of responsibility taken by management to ineptitude of front desk staff I'm not sure how this place can be called a Marriott property. Basic things like HEATING at a mountain resort should be provided or at least disclosed to potential suckers...um I mean guests. Maybe they need to fire people like Stephen who just offer lip service with no real results. Take a look at all the one star reviews and they all have the same issues. I wouldn't have issue if the heating situation was mentioned on their website before I booked so I could decide for myself if we would choose this hotel. The fact that it was only mentioned at checkin is underhanded and sneaky.

It is quite far and remote from Banff attractions.
I was a Marriott member and so booked thru their reservation system.
But this facility is not comparable to Marriott Hotels in terms of comfort and amenities in the room.
The room facilities are average. No complimentary breakfast. Everything is extra. Pillows on the bed are not comfortable. No AC...Fan is ok.

Service and help is good. Underground parking was ok.
But not convenient and obviously not worth the price.

We've DJ'd a number of corporate events and weddings at the Kananaskis Marriot over the years - always a pleasure to head up to the hotel. We've stayed in the hotel on a number of occasions, the beds are very comfortable. The location here is exclusive (no other facilities are in this area) with outstanding views. We've always found the staff very professional and accommodating to work with. In the summer time they offer a nifty event tent with a giant propane heating system. The meadow in-front of the hotel is often used for wedding ceremonies but no power is provided - so we often have to provide our own generator or battery bank for audio production.

My wife and I spent our anniversary at the Delta in Kananaskis. The staff was amazing, the room was wonderful, the food was so good and we had a great time. The one thing I would suggest is some more signage. We had trouble finding the signature club parking door. It was quite difficult to find our way around the tunnels and to know which elevator went where. Upon leaving, we didn't know what needed to be done to open the door and get our vehicle out. Just some signs and more direction I think would have helped alot. Other than that, our stay was magnificent! I hope that my review helps and that action is taken to gain that 5th star. I'd stay again!!

Everything is spectacular but the food is a little over priced but is still very good overall amazing hotel. The views are breathtaking but alot of the trails were blocked off due to bears, but that's not the hotels fault.

We're new to Alberta and on a whim, we decided to bring the kids into the mountains for a couple days before it gets too cold. Didn't go to the spa, just stayed in the hotel's "Family room" (2 room suite) for a night.

THE GOOD:

Location - Obviously, this is the big draw. It is picturesque, lots of mountains, and there are a bunch of amazing trails that are (pretty much) within walking distance of the hotel.

Water park - The kids went mental for this. You have to book time in advance (because of COVID) but we did so without issue, and it was great.

Food (quality) - the pizza and chicken wings from Forte were amazing.

THE BAD:

Prices - Everything was quite expensive. The hotel room itself was very basic and somewhat dated, definitely not worth the price - you're paying for the location, not the room. The food, while great, was overpriced. They wanted to charge a delivery fee to bring it to your room(?!), and even when you go pick it up yourself, there is a surprise "open food" charge on it (see attached). It definitely felt like at every opportunity they were trying to gouge you.

Toilet - The toilet was already clogged when we got to our room. The (great!) staff tried to fix it and said they did, but they didn't. So for the duration of the trip I had to take kids down to the lobby when they had to use the bathroom. Very annoying. Hard to fault them for this as it is kind of out of their hands, but for several hundred dollars a night I feel like a working toilet should be included.

Overall was a good trip, but I'm not sure that I'd go out of my way to stay at this specific hotel again.

This is such a hidden gem! We were there for a wedding and it was a BEAUTIFUL atmosphere. They have an AMAZING pool for kids. Great enviornment. The prices for food and drinks are astronomical but other than that I loved the hotel.

I just arrived. Scouted out the smores attraction. Soooooo yummy. Such a beautiful resort. So happy to be in our Canadian Rocky Mountains enjoying the snow, mountains, warm fires, friendly people. We are so blessed to be Albertan.

almost no staff, no info on offerings, no food available for early risers, they don't even want to clean rooms daily instead offering a bull GREEN program and a 5$ gift card instead. Not worth the stay

It was a good hotel. Restaurant is good, atmosphere is recommended, too.
However, the sound of walking upstairs was very disturbing. It seems like an old building or a loud noise.

We made a weekend out of it. Spent the extra money on the room upgrade for the big bathtub. Not enough hot water in that building to fill it unless your taking a bath at 6 am. Staff have heard it before and nothing will likely be done about it.
Food was excellent and pricey. The main restaurant reminded me of the Mexican resort breakfast eating area ( no ambience). Lounge area was fantastic but very crowded for the social distances required.
Go there again? Nope, check that box and move on

Best Hideaway in Kananaskis! We were treated like royalty from the moment we checked in through checkout. The staff was absolutely amazing and made our 10th anniversary the most memorable yet! All the staff including, Katie, Dom, Kovah, Heather, Dale, and especially Eric (with concierge) made the entire experience wonderful! Eric recommended all the perfect experiences and places! Of all the activities he suggested in our week long stay, walking out with a cup of hot cocoa to watch the sunrise at Viewpoint 2 was absolutely magical! He certainly knows all the hidden gems of Kananaskis and the must-dos while visiting. He is truly an asset to the resort and helpful to making your time there absolutely perfect! The lodge is clean, updated, and filled with a warm, friendly atmosphere. The food and drinks are delicious! We hope to make this our anniversary hideaway every year.

We just came for the Christmas Eve dinner in the ballroom, which was absolutely outstanding. Best buffet I've had in years. The staff were hilarious and awesome, a great group! The managers were chipper and cane around several times. After dinner, we roamed around a bit to see everything. What a beautiful location! There seems to be so much to do. I definitely need to come back!

Giving it a 4 star for the following. Location, front desk staff, pool and facilities. It was close to being down graded to a 3 star because of the food on site... not good. Breakfast was a failure. Lunch poor, they even messed up the chicken wings. There isn't a lot of options in the area so the food on-site needs to be improved.
Otherwise would stay there again.

While we did not find the beds comfortable, every single staff member we encountered was exceptionally friendly and professional. Our complaint about the beds were heard and acknowledged personally by the hotel manager. Because of the quality of food and entertainment we enjoyed, and how exceptional their staff was- we were happy to overlook a bit of tossing and turning. Thank you for a lovely stay- for others...please consider bringing your own pillows.

Can't say enough good things ... this newley renovated hotel provides the prefect getaway, especially with the Nordic Spa! The meals from the varous restaurants are appetizing, flavorful, and the menues provide real variety, with the deserts being my fav! The bar serves fantastic cocktails and the service is none stop. Everyone working here seems to realy care you're enjoying the experince, and are constantly checking to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. If you're looking for great value and an enjoyable stay ... this is it!

Absolutely ridiculous! Me and my family drove 10 hours with a reservation for a room. We showed up at about 11:30 and are essentially turned away along with approximately 50 other guests. We were given the option of sleeping amongst other guests in the conference room on cots or we had to leave. What happened was they double booked everyone and to be quite Frank, they blamed third partys but I see it as being mostly their fault for not paying attention to the bookings coming in. I also have a grudge that they sold out the remaining reserved rooms to people earlier in the night because they may have assumed that the late showers wouldn't show at all. Anyway, we had to drive through the boonies once again 30 minutes back to the main highway and head up to airdrie to which we arrived at 2am. Thanks... Bad experience with these guys. Although, I will say, maybe this doesnt happen often, it looked like a beautiful place. Too bad though because I will not head back out there, I might not get my reserved room. Hysterical.

Expensive but love it. Beautiful setting tight in the mountains. Little store on site. Coffee shop for quick coffee and quick breakfast. They have 3 restaurants incuding lounge bar. Then a nice pub in the back. They don't mention but they have a skating rink and toboggan hill in the far back

Simply stated, amazing! The grounds around this hotel are phenomenal. I've been to many ski resort hotels and this is the best by far. All the important aspects were covered:location, ameneties, cleanliness, etc. However, it's the service. Most notably, Dakota. I'm not quite sure what her role is, Blacktail bar manager/supervisor/server... She was so friendly and engaging. She made me feel so at home and welcome on my trip alone that I looked to book my next trip here right away. Also, best wings I've had. Very impressed.

Renovated facility is amazing. Location in Kananaskis is tranquil and remote enough for a true reset and immersion in nature. I give this 4 stars because of dining experience. I was here for three days for a work retreat and a few restaurants at the hotel would be closed giving us one option to eat at. This proved frustrating because other options aren t available in a reasonable driving distance. Eating the same food got tiring, although it was good the first time around.

Nice property. Needs some TLC in the rooms paint etc. The location is great and hikes and mtn biking good. This hotel is pricey but you are paying for location.

The restaurants are very pricey for the quality. $75 for breakfast for 3 . That was 6 pancakes 2 eggs and 3 small sausage.....a little bit much for that and just an average breakfast.

The staff are pleasant and the kids pool is great.

You pull in to the smell of woodsmoke. That really sets the mood.

However, as nice as the hotel is-- recently remodeled, very well kept, something like five restaurants/bars/markets inside-- there isn't a whole lot else here, and it's just far enough off the Trans-Canada highway to be a bit of a detour.

So it's best meant for guests meaning to enjoy the Kananaskis area, rather than a jumping-off point for other areas.

We visited to check out the location and grab lunch for an event that we're coming up to later this week there was absolutely no vegetarian food other than a grilled cheese at the little restaurant that they had their and the place looks somewhat run-down but you can tell that that's the reason they're doing renovations people were very nice and helpful

Staff was all pretty friendly and helpful. Reception was really welcoming. The room was very nice! Well decorated, nice amenities, everything I could ask for.

I was asked three separate times if we were there for something specific, when I told them we were there for our anniversary that seemed to be the end of it. Why bother asking if you don't really care? Most hotels/resorts ask for a reason. We didn't expect anything, but don't ask then. Seems really weird.

The pools/hottubs were supposed to be by reservation only (covid measures), but no one was keeping an eye on it at all. Plenty of people just came in as normal without reserving or signing in/out. Why bother?

The hotel also seems to like nickel and diming you. $40/night for a dog? That is completely absurd.

Have always loved the hotel, mainly for the location. Our New Years visit fell very short of expectations. Hotel is being renovated. Our Loft room had NO bathroom door. Smaller problems were no hairdryer, no fridge, no ceiling light (loose wires hanging), heater would not work, required use of a small portable for entire space. When discussing the bathroom door issue with the hotel it was considered by them a finishing touch, I personally feel it should be required to occupy the room.

Rooms are pretty standard so it feels pricey for what you get, service at Woody's pub and one of their restaurants Forte were both not great. Food tasted pretty good though. The Nordic Spa was a fun experience but a little expensive so not somewhere I will go back to all the time.

We had an awesome weekend at the Kananaskis Mountain Lodge. We were there for a friends wedding and I needed to store the cake and cupcakes. The concierge was extremely helpful making sure that the cake/cupcakes were stored and brought out when needed for the wedding supper. The Restuarant Forte went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed to set up the space. Both the supper and service were exceptional. The location is beautiful and we look forward to going back there soon!

The staff were all fabulous!! Our room was not amazing and the wifi was spotty, but we asked to be moved for better reception and our new room (same price) was excellent- much better view and wifi. The restaurants are all great with wonderful staff as well!

Overall everything was great the rooms the spa experience, don't forget to take the plunge in the cold pool after your hot sauna. The big thing I have an issue with is make sure your aware and get it in writing your stay details. This resort likes to make a lot of promises to their clients and don't follow through on there promises. The result.... going to the checkout and having bill shock and having to explain what you were promised. Also if you make an arrangement with the front desk and they don't follow through the manager will tell the front desk staff to lie. Just fair warning to get your WHOLE Itinerary in writing so they 100% can honor there promises. Don't let this company cheat you out of your hard earned money. Staff are pleasant but the night front desk manager has zero customer service skills.

First time here and a very cool property, great restaurant service and enjoy the food, but unfortunately it s impossible to get the kids into the waterpark. Completely understand the 35 person capacity for COVID, but with no time limit for how long you can stay, families are spending the entire day and no one else can visit.
Disappointed families and kids throughout the resort. A simple one or two hour time limit would ensure everyone got a chance, but they re not open to the suggestion.
Just a heads up if you re coming through here just for the water park facility put your name on the list at 8am and keep your fingers crossed.

I stayed in March 2019.

I stayed in March 2019.
It is a very upscale hotel, with shops on the ground floor.
Free Wi-Fi should have flew too.
When I stayed, the fire alarm had a malfunction twice, and the fire department came.
The rooms are very beautiful.
I stayed on the second floor for about a week, but two of them I saw the aurora at night.
However, due to the steam coming out of the rooms on the upper floor, the photo exposure is not very good.
The room is equipped with a TV, coffee maker and fans.
The bathroom seems to be different depending on the room, but the toilet and the shower may be covered with glass, and the curtain partition may also be used.
You can also watch Japanese TV in the suite.

Photo
Starry sky shot from the 3rd floor room.
Around 10:40 minutes before summer time, exposure: twenty and a few seconds
