We're new to Alberta and on a whim, we decided to bring the kids into the mountains for a couple days before it gets too cold. Didn't go to the spa, just stayed in the hotel's "Family room" (2 room suite) for a night.

THE GOOD:

Location - Obviously, this is the big draw. It is picturesque, lots of mountains, and there are a bunch of amazing trails that are (pretty much) within walking distance of the hotel.

Water park - The kids went mental for this. You have to book time in advance (because of COVID) but we did so without issue, and it was great.

Food (quality) - the pizza and chicken wings from Forte were amazing.

THE BAD:

Prices - Everything was quite expensive. The hotel room itself was very basic and somewhat dated, definitely not worth the price - you're paying for the location, not the room. The food, while great, was overpriced. They wanted to charge a delivery fee to bring it to your room(?!), and even when you go pick it up yourself, there is a surprise "open food" charge on it (see attached). It definitely felt like at every opportunity they were trying to gouge you.

Toilet - The toilet was already clogged when we got to our room. The (great!) staff tried to fix it and said they did, but they didn't. So for the duration of the trip I had to take kids down to the lobby when they had to use the bathroom. Very annoying. Hard to fault them for this as it is kind of out of their hands, but for several hundred dollars a night I feel like a working toilet should be included.

Overall was a good trip, but I'm not sure that I'd go out of my way to stay at this specific hotel again.
