Rooms were very nice and hotel had lots to do. Unfortunately we went in June (18-20) a Sunday to Tuesday and most things weren't open. Including onsite restaurants and activity center. If the resort is not fully operating the room prices should reflect that.
We booked a 2 bedroom lake view suite for a price of $1050 per night!! (Ouch) You d Naturally expect to enter a clean room with great service And amenities! We got The opposite, not only were we gouged we Walked into a rushed and dirty suite! Did I mention NO room service available. Few of the cleaning staff were not following the COVID-19 rules of wearing a mask while inside including the supervisors wearing the Blue shirts!!! This made us very nervous.
The beach was a so busy it was impossible to keep distance from others we left the resort to explore the outside hikes instead. Now that we are back there are reports of 11 positive COVID-19 test from the week we were visiting the resort. This makes me extremely angry and dissatisfied.
The management needs to Retrain the staff about health and safety, retrain the staff about cleaning and detailing, offer more sanitization choices for guests during their stay, book less rooms to allow social distancing for guests. This is not the time to be gouging Canadians.
We stayed at your resort for Christmas. Rooms were excellent and it is dog friendly. We were on the ground floor with a sliding room to go out. The Buffett dinner and lunch was very good. Staff very friendly and service great. Only thing I felt missing was a large Christmas tree and you definitely need more Christmas decorations. I was disappointed in that
Very nice, but maybe a little too spread out, a lot of walking, but they do have shuttle golf carts sometimes. Would be nice if buffet breakfast was included.
The grounds are beautifully kept. The food was amazing. The staff was incredibly friendly. I would highly recommend visiting this place for the day, overnight or even for a weekend
Very nice view overlooking the water !, nice little room on the water. Ducks come up to your patio door so you can feed them. Good restaurant back at the main lodge area, really nice large pool & spa, spa was quite hot, but I loved it !! spent 1/2 a day in there. lol. Enjoyed a massage, had a great time! very memorable. :-)
We attended Xtreme dance competition, and the resort staff where friendly and helpful while we toured the resort in between dances. Would definitely consider going back for a personal get away.
Visited the resort for 1 night with my fiancee last weekend: - could not use the pool because it was so crowded + unattended, therefore a complete sh** show - got told we could use the tennis courts as late as we wanted but they never turned on the lights and it was soon too dark to play - decided to head back to the hotel for dinner but got there at 9:15pm.... the restaurant closes at 9pm and we ended up having overpriced bar food. - Internet was not an option as wifi was wayyy too slow (reason given: hotel is very busy, too many people connected at same time...) - Breakfast was good ($100 for two though) - Played their Lakeside golf course to finish: first 5-6 greens were unplayable because of the amount of geese feces. Mostly Par-3 and short Par-4, The tournament ahead of us was so slow we had to stop at the 10th. Complete disaster from the beginning to the end, and I did not mention the dog in the room next to ours barking the whole time....
The worst vacation I have ever had. There were problems after problems. Instead of trying to be accommodating, after the resort made mistakes, they just made things worse with their lack of basic customer service skills. Most of the staff are incredibly rude and will create arguments with you. They do not want to fix anything. Our A/C unit broke and we asked for it to get fixed because the room was very hot. When we got back to our room after the repair and being at the beach all day, they had set the temp to 27 and put on the heat in the room. Do not except any type of good service, unless you see Lauralee at Maple Bar. Also, the manager named Megan was good. The beach and pool was very nice. The experience at Stoneleigh Farms was really great as well.
Nice place but it is pricey. We were planning to go for a canoe ride in the morning - the rental spot is supposed to open at 10am - but after calling the front desk and being put on hold for 15 minutes we were told that it wasn't going to open until noon. It would be nice if they were better at communicating any changes to their advertised times and such.
Visited the resort for the first time. Occasion, brunch with the family. Food was of high standard and service was excellent. We stayed in the grounds and sat around a fire pit for several hours. We got complimentary pot of tea and the care and kindness of all staff was second to none! Definitely planning on a return with stay over night
My husband and I stayed here for our anniversary in Nov 2020.
We stayed at the Lakeside Lodge one bedroom unit. The room was small, there were absolutely zero toiletries other than one bar of soap. I called the front desk to ask for some simple travel sized toiletries to be brought to the room. I was told to go to the General Store to purchase them. (The General Store does not sell travel sized toiletries.) I asked for some milk cups or cream cups to be brought to the room for coffee in the morning. I was told to go buy a carton of milk at the General Store. The bed was AWFUL. I have slept on better beds in hostels. I had to sleep on the love seat for 2 nights. You can hear everything going on in the rooms above and beside you. There were 5 english channels on the TV, no channel guide, no Netflix, no option to purchase movies, nothing.
The Eclipse Restaurant is the only restaurant functioning and works on reservations only. It was completely booked for the Saturday we arrived. So we were forced to have dinner at the Maple Restaurant outdoor patio that had opened just for that Saturday (exceptionally warm weather). Food was average at best. We ordered breakfast to our room which was good, but simple things like condiments were not provided and we had to wait for them to return. We had to pay a delivery fee AND an 18% tip to have the food delivered to our room. We ate at the Eclipse Restaurant the following night and it was delicious!
I received my invoice 2 weeks after our stay and they overcharged me by $100.00. I had to call them to correct it. I received an updated invoice that was totally blank. I have no idea what I have been charged. The resort is totally disorganized - likely understaffed due to covid and poorly managed.
For $600.00 for a weekend in off peak November, I am very disappointed in our experience. Lovely location, lovely staff, and would probably be a great place to spend a warm summer weekend with the family, but based on our experience, I would not return or recommend at this time.
This resort is amazing, it has many options for accommodations, great food within the resort, rock climbing, a pool, arcade and a fitness room. Lots of other activities to do as well including escape rooms, ATV rides, snowmobile tours and hiking.
Great views, lots of amenities like tennis courts, volleyball, pool, arcade. Rooms could use a bit of updating but they were very large and had full suite features like dishwasher, washer, dryer, stove, microwave. Water temperature was very inconsistent, hard to have a warm shower
Kid friendly winter getaway. We loved all the included winter sports, pool and play areas. I would bring did next time though as restaurants didn't have many healthy options.
Bathroom door broken. No daily room cleaning services. No people answering calls after midnight when I need extra blanket. Super pricey for what is provided. Food are so so and is unreasonably expensive. It's not likely that I will be visiting again.
Easy check in and our corner room was large and spacious. Loved the shampoo and conditioner dispencers and a nice quality bar of soap. Overall great experience.
Great stay but the first night we stayed only one restaurant was open and the service was very slow. Everything else was great. Even considering to buy a place here
Rooms clean. Happy with front desk check in. On demand movies in rooms are alittle pricey @ $24.99!! Buffet is alittle pricey as well but not far from Huntsville. So you can run into town for more reasonable restaurants.
The room we first checked into when we arrived at the Deerhurst Resort was what we expected given what we booked online. The only things it was missing were some of the initial amenities we had requested. Shortly after we settled in, I received a call from the assistant manager Marissa explaining that they didn't have the room type that we had requested available, but that she would like to offer us an upgrade with the bed type we initially requested. She was very pleasant and helpful, and she went above and beyond to make sure our preferences were met. When we came back from our ice skating trip to switch rooms, we were more than pleased with the room we had been moved to. This made our weekend so much more special. We were very comfortable and had an amazing view of the lake. To top it all off, the Front Desk and the restaurant staff were extremely helpful, warm and professional. We couldn't be happier with our stay. We definitely plan to return again. Thank you Marissa!
Really cool building. Nice rooms. Great Porpety. The breakfast option was a great deal. Very relaxing spa. Kinda shy on amenities but the surrounding area had plenty to do
This place is tired. Was here for a conference and was very disappointed. No food available at all after 11pm - no mini bar, no snack shop and room service isn't an option ever. The front desk and all staff will tell you to call Pizza Pizza!! Even during the day, the food options are extremely limited in the winter. Dinner was only available in the bar where your options are tapas or a $46 steak. Breakfast buffet is basic and expensive. Nothing is made fresh to order, so expect soggy french toast or waffles and congealed eggs - for 2 people it comes to just over $50. Everything is bought and provided in bulk throughout the hotel- you even have to put jam on your toast at the toaster because there aren't any packets or jars on the table. The staff is all basically friendly - best are the front desk staff, but none of the staff give deference to guests in hallways, or doorways - to them, where they have to get to is just as important as where you need to be. The room was run-down and seemed like it had probably been surface cleaned - but not deep cleaned maybe ever. The lockers at the pool were dirty too. Speaking of the pool... They say towels are provided -and they are, but they are tiny and seem to be made of a blend of steel wool and barbed wire! It certainly made the money we spent at the Couple's Resort the year before seem like a deal!!
I planned a proposal at Deerhurst this past Christmas with Haley, the wedding coordinator. She was more than accommodating and was responsive and met all of our needs, from the horse and carriage ride, to the hot chocolate and blankets. Lots of small details were attended to, even including some chocolate strawberries and champagne afterwards. This is a memory for my lifetime that Haley made so so special and I couldn't be happier with her assistance for my proposal.
Resort is nice. Booked summit suite room. Bathroom sink was clogged and door didn't close. Called front desk but no one came to fix it. Wifi slow or spotty at best. Beach smaller than expected but still fine. Don't pay regular but worth it if you get a discount/promotion rate. Note, they charge resort fees.
My friends and I visited this place in starting of winter. It has really positive ambiance in addition to that slow live music made it very eye catching. We kinda lost to find our condo but it is really nice condo with 1 master bed room and 2 queen size bed with hall and kitchen. They have provided all the utensils, owen, dish washer, washer and gryer and smart tv. The view from the room was awesome. We dont have much time to indulge in all activities but the activities which we have done were snow sketing, ice skiing, hot tub relax, swimming pool and gym. All the equipments related to this activities were of no charge if you are guest of deerhurst but on the other hand I dont find locks in any of the doors in my condo except the main entrance but overall it is really a beautiful place to visit with friends and family.
Recently came home from a guys golf trip. We stayed in the "Greens" chalet. First impression of the room, huge. 3 bedroom 4 beds with a small kitchen area and a deck. The chalet sits just off 9 holes of golf which are currently disc golf due to covid19 spacing issues. The resturaunts were DELICIOUS!! except, the food truck. I personally did not purchase anything or visit but 6 guys returned from the room saying they just got "ripped off bad" by a good truck. insanely high prices with the smaller portions ever . I previously saw these comments on Google reviews with the same concern about food truck before arriving but forgot to mention it ( sorry guys)
Maple & Eclipse are a must try. Severs were super friendly and accommodating and the food was spot on every day (lunch and dinner for 8 guys). Coffee in the first shop was a nice touch too.
The lakeside golf course condition was good. Just good. Its covid19 2020 and expectations aren't tempered. There was one issue when we arrived. There were no recorded tee times previously booked by our group months ago due to a computer glitch; when indeed it was booked ( confirmed later). It was at first very concerning at first for 8 anxious golfers to hear we had no times booked and no room to play. Now, The reason I gave the resort 5 stars and not 4 was because of how the golf course handled the entire situation. After realizing the huge error Deerhurst lakeside staff got on the phone , got the appropriate people Involved , and coordinated all the times around our group to get us out over 3 days. We were compensated appropriately and received many apologies and could see the genuine concern on the staffs faces for our experience at Deerhurst. I really appreciate how much effort was put in.
The only negative thing I could say about the entire experience is the amount of walking involved and the condition of some of the walk ways. We walked from dinner to our chalet and none of the paths were lit up and the brick walk ways are like triangles, watch your ankles.
I have back issues and having to either drive 2-3mins and find parking and not be able to have drinks or walk 20mins up a steep hill to dinner. We approach the staff to ask if we could use a golf cart to and from our chalet to retrieve clubs and it was declined. This is not a major issue but i really think deerhurst should consider fixing all path and walkways and also having electric cart rental to allow people to travel to and from their rooms.
overall experience was amazing and I'm going back soon with my kids!!
After one day..not impressed enough to give a 4 or 5 star..Covid check in okay..no restaurants open at 3pm on a Friday..our building needs attention..room Greens room okay but not impressed for money we pay..
I loved it here, the setting is beautiful and rooms were nice. Dining was a little pricy but the lodges have kitchenettes so I just made my own food. It rained all day unfortunately so I didn't get to do much but there is a beach, a golf course, atvs and trails. I would definitely recommend this place and will be coming back. Also the pool was nice!
Stayed overnight for 3 nights for a work event. Rooms were okay, nothing special. The area was beautiful and played golf on one of the days. Worth the stay if you like the beach and being next to a lake.
Facilities and rooms are very nice. The service was poor. Check-in was supposed to be at 4pm but the room was not ready until 6pm. Came with a group of 7 and was offered $100 towards food at the resort.
We attended a wedding at the resort, and the experience was wonderful! The staff at the desk were helpful to direct us to the proper ballroom, and every staff member we passed by had a smile for us. The decor for the event was classy, and the service impeccable; there was always a server within reach with refreshments. We enjoyed the dinner service immensely, the food was delicious and presented beautifully. We had to leave early due to a family issue, but it appeared the whole event was handled seamlessly!
Not for single people or foodies This resort is for families who like golf. This was my mistake.
However, the outdoor pools are small. You can't get a drink by the pool (it's a resort!). The TV in my bedroom did not work. The wireless signal does not work in either restaurant (so no surfing while you eat!) and most of all, the food was awful. The "Canadian" buffet was shameful. The beef was tough, the turkey dry, and clearly all the food had been under heat lamps for too long.
Nice spot and lots of activities for kids & families. Good facilities. Rooms are very outdated and need upgrading. No little toiletries provided, I did not like the shampoo & conditioner dispensers in the shower. Only 2 pillows on the bed - most hotels leave 4. Unoccupied meeting rooms were left dirty, and lots of debris/work in progress in various places around the property. All staff we spoke to were helpful and very friendly.
We stayed in a satellite building, so going to the main building required driving. Large room, and nice. If you really want a sort of 'Shining' feeling, come in winter. There are many included things in the winter that make it worth it such as free cross-country skiing and snowshoeing rentals
So my fiance and I stayed here for the weekend to attend a wedding. We booked well in advance and were given a room in a building detached from the main building. The main building being where the wedding and reception were talking place. I wish we were given this information on the phone when we called to reserve... Because of this, it made it difficult to walk up to the ceremony/reception in dress shoes/high heels without bringing a change of footwear as the sidewalk leading to the building had quite the hill on it and still had some snow and debris. As for the room... Upon entering the room there is no place to hang jackets, no closet, no hooks, nothing. This is super inconvenient. For a place that boasts outdoor activities, where are folks supposed to hang snow gear!? Upon entering the bedroom we found what appeared to be gravel/debris on the carpet, not a great job cleaning. We also discovered the bedroom door didn't close all the way so we had light entering from the living room in the mornings. Also of note was the strange location for the outlet above the kitchen counter. The only one is above the cook top, so if we decided to make coffee, toast, and cook, it would become quite the ordeal. The cords on the appliances are so short they need to sit on top of the stove once plugged in?? I would seriously question staying here again. There were some good things too, however they got overshadowed by the bad. Some simple communication over the phone on the initial booking would have helped prevent some of this and better prepared us for the stay.
