Great resort in deerhurst. Manager at Deerhurst resort in restaurant just awesome
Loved it last year, amazing for families with small kids, just booked over the phone for this year, kudos to Katrina at in-house reservations for her amazing assistance!!
Stay with my extended family in a condo that included three large bedrooms in late February. Each had it's own bathroom. The beds were large and comfortable. The rooms and amenities were all clean, well appointed, and well looked after. We had a wonderful stay and will certainly return. Great winter getaway for families. Only downside: Pretty expensive!
We had an excellent brunch in the Eclipse restaurant! I will definitely be back!
We were not impressed by the new lakeside condo room we booked for way too much money a night. The condo was a way too small and crammed. The two bedrooms were quite small with hardly any space to move around or for any furniture to speak of. In the smaller bedroom you couldn't open the closet door fully without hitting the bed. The room was not stocked well with many items missing which made it frustrating to have to call housekeeping 4 or 5 times. Dishes were left in the dishwasher for us to clear out. The dishwasher had a funny smell which made the dishes that came out of it smelly. We complained about this but nothing was done. Not to mention the place was not cleaned properly as we observed smudges on the fridge and walls. The resort is full of families with children running around all over the place. It would be nice if some areas were reserved for adults only. Pool rules and resort rules were posted but most people ignored them as people had small children in the hot tub and were smoking, drinking and eating in pool areas. Pool areas such as the ones located in the summit were not supervised therefore we had to put up with loud screaming and jumping in the pool, etc. For the money we paid, we did not enjoy our stay! Too many issues for us to contend with. Sorry, Deerhurst, but we won't be back.
Beautiful...Sooo much to offer families. Lots of activities and choices.
The hotel is ok (a bit over priced for what you get in my opinion), very nice swimming pool, bar was disappointing as no fun cocktails could be ordered. Food in the restaurant was good! Recommend to walk the sanctuary trail that is accessible for guests and residents only, very nice trail (we took out while still covered with snow)!
Great place very well maintained and clean areas and beaches. Plenty of acrivities to do for young and old. Tapas restaurant is great. Buffet restaurant needs an upgrade and doesn't represent Deerhurst as a whole well. Condo was great and large and offered all we needed with three large bedrooms and right on the beautiful golf course!
The main building was very nice. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly. Wish the grounds were easier to navigate. Beach area is too small, hard to find. Building by beach looked run-down.
Wonderful place and very good family retreat any time of the year .
Accommodating staff. Original room was very cold, requested change which was immediately arranged. Staff for amenities (snow shoes, skis and skates) were great!
Rooms are large and comfortable. Very well maintained and staff were friendly.
The glory days of Deerhurst are in the past but not their pricing. We had a good time but I really think it was too expensive. The birdshow was really nice.
it's a lovely hotel but was so surprised our room didn't have a fridge. When we inquired about it because we were so surprised, we were told it would be another $50. A bit later, I noticed the directory offered an "opt out" of maid service to be more green and also plant a tree for those who did. And, a $10 room credit. When I inquired over the phone, I was told I could opt out, but not get the credit because the room was booked thru expedia which was exactly the same price as the wedding family rate. The resort is beautiful but I think they need more customer service help for the prices charged. I called Expedia to help and they did; got the $10 credit after about 20 minutes on hold!!!
We have been here every year, very good family oriented resort.
Awesome resort. I've giving it 5 stars because of the activities you can do. My family used kayaks, stand up paddle boards, and the fun in water inflatable area and had a blast! These amenities are available from 10am until 6pm and we wished the hours were longer the were so much fun! The resort is split into several buildings and ours was the lakeside building. Amazing view, big room. If I could say anything negative (which is minor), the lakeside building seemed slightly dated and getting to the main pool in the main building is a challenge if you are coming from the back of the building (I found myself down halls not meant for guests). The shuttles between buildings is appreciated as it can be a long walk. All in all it was a great few days away, certainly recommended!
Attended a one day product information session. Facilities were great. Food service was excellent for the event.
Overall a good experience.
The staff were very helpful.
Was a stain in the carpet, but bathroom was clean.
Lots of fun stuff to do for big and little kids. Quiet and lots of natural scenery.
Quite an escape from the big city with surprisingly many activities and interesting site seings. It seemed to us the resort targets families with small kids. The restaurant experience was very good. Some hiking is possible in the area. The nearby lakes do not look like for much use, but as a beautiful scenery.
Family vacation and had a great time. Room was great with a nice balcony. Staff were very helpful and the resort had lots of activities for the whole family. The splash zone water area is amazing.
Still here today is our final full day as we check out tomorrow.
As an employee of the travel and tourism industry I did strive to really want to love this place. I had several issues since check in some big and some small.
For some issues Samantha at the front desk was very respectful and helpful and for our issues with Eclipse, Stephanie the manager who oversees them was extremely professional and understanding when discussing our experience with eclipse.
Mind you today when we came back to our room after a long exhausting morning at Algonquin park with our babies, our room keys didn t work and when I had call front desk to share our concern that our keys don t work and we re stranded outside with our infants can someone please come let us in, I was told there were no staff to assist, my patience was short as it s been a very long morning plus, this isn t our first issue we needed to address I simply stated you can t expect me to pack up my infants to come all the way to the main building to reactivate our keys that just really confirmed my feelings that this truly isn t a family resort as advertised. I had asked for a manager and was placed on hold and then told after a few minutes later someone will come let us in, but we still had to go to the main building to have our keys reactivated.
Right now (as I would hope summertime is different) there is not much for kids to do regardless of covid which I do understand puts a limit on things, but they only have one restaurant running for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For a resort as large as this I don t see how that can be accommodating or successful? Especially since the restaurant that is opened didn t appear to be family friendly from our dinner experience.
I just wanted to write an honest and recent review as we are still here but just want families to be aware, that even though it s advertised as family friendly, as of right now there isn t really anything family oriented happening. Even in town or at the provincial parks.
There are many things closed due to covid.
Please do extensive research to ensure your satisfied with what you will get prior to booking.
I know when I book clients moving forward I don t think I ll be encouraging for them to attend this resort especially if they are a family. This is just solely based on our experience.
I change my rating,
They don t pay there staff on time for a high end place. Mold in the buildings,
Awesome resort for a long weekend getaway. We visited for Victoria day and they had beautiful fireworks. We spent time swimming in the indoor pool, canoeing and making s'mores at the fireplace. The rooms were clean and well maintained, really recommend this resort.
My fiance and I love stopping in at deerhurst every time we are in the area!!
Stayed in Bayshore building. Our room was on the ground floor facing the lake. Good number of inflatables, nice little beach with plenty of kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes to use. The SWS water ski instructors were awesome. Great golf too! You must try DMans burgers. They were really good. Staff were friendly and Service was fantastic!
Deerhurst Resort is a beautiful place, my friends got married there. They put on a great wedding, food was delicious and the staff were great! I will definitely be back for a overnight stay.. my fiance and myself didn't stay there night so unsure what the rooms look like.
The resort has a ton of activities that one could do in summer. Even in October there were golfers out, trails to hike, etc. The breakfast buffet was good. A great place to say for seeing fall leaves!
Our room was good but service was very slow. Disappointed.
It is currently undergoing some renovations which is good because some of the areas within the resort (dock especially) are crumbling and are getting old. The housing unit that my family and I visited was nice and very clean and had excellent facilities.
Great destination for a relaxing time with the family. Kids had lots of fun. Staff are friendly and courteous. Had a small issue with our suite and on checkout the manager extended a credit for our troubles.... I found that to be a very good initiative on their behalf.
Top notch awesome facilities. We had a fabulous time. We went for a conference at the end of September. Probably the best time of year to go at this resort. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff were friendly and helpful. The conference and buffet was excellent.
Lots of fun activists for the entire family. Nice accommodations.
The customr facing staff was excellant but I would not go back here. They could not cook a steak medium rare. Two shots at it took an hour and the best they could do was med well. Breakfast was $25 for a la carte bacon and eggs! Asked for sunny side up and got over medium. The a/c in my room froze up both days I was there and the room got up to 80. They were too busy to make up the room the second day so we had to go and get fresh towels. The bathroom had mold. We were at a conference and had a chance to see a few rooms, they were generally poorly cleaned. The beds were comfortable but the food was not what you would expect for the prices they charge
Brunch at the Eclipse ....Wonderful!! Our waitress Christine so nice.
Still in the middle of my stay. Beautiful grounds. Can't wait to golf tomorrow
Tried out the kid's snowmobile introduction. Super fun for the kids.
Nice resort with all kinds of activities available. Our group stayed here for 2 nights and stayed busy all time. Free kayak, canoe, golf (edit: a small green only, normal course is not free), and pool (very nice pool BTW). There are also game room, rock climbing etc (not free).
The resort was beautiful inside and out. The service was great as well
It has been a very nice place. The beach was a little small but there are a lot of activities to do. The rooms are very nice and a pretty good size. Overall I had a great time here!
Great resort for family or couples. Lots of activities to do from relaxing st the spa to golf, boating, Treetop Trekking and horseback riding in summer to skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, skating in winter.....Scenery is amazing depending on the time of year your going. Rooms are clean & staff is friendly/helpful. If your looking for a good quick getaway this is the spot to come.
Wonderful and well maintained hotel, very nice and quiet location, top facilities, one of the best resorts in Canada
Spent New Year's eve with my wife and kids at Deerburst. Always lots of activities to do and take part in. The indoor pool is spacious with lots of seating area Deerhurst is a beautiful facility, and you will not regret your holiday destination decision.
The resort was pretty great. The accomodations were nice, they provided shuttle services between different buildings which was much appreciated in the snowy weather, and overall the food and amenities at the main pavilion were good. I felt that the pool area and locker rooms seemed a bit outdated but we thoroughly enjoyed the spa. The buffet could have had more food options for the price that was charged but the Maple Pub had delicious food and the live music at Compass was a nice accompaniment to the couple of drinks we had there on Saturday night.
We ate at the lobby bar, it was great food and great drinks
Amazing service, great grounds. The 02 building is very fresh and new, with a great outdoor pool facing the lake! (Unit 433 is our fav!) Muskoka chairs are scattered throughout the property for some great reading nooks. Also amazing hiking trails.
Great place and great staff. Rooms were amazing. And the view was even better
My friends and I went there for a long weekend. 1 We barely got WiFi in our room. 2 The elevator was in construction and we had to walk to the third floor. 3 We were promised many "activities" but we couldn't do anything because all staff were busy in a conference.
The only great thing about this place was the nature, rivers and trails which are like 15 min from this hotel.
Stayed here for one night as part of a company retreat. The food is great and the staff is super friendly. Overall, great place to stay.
When we were walking to our room, we saw a huge pile of soiled towels n sheets sitting on the floor beside the elevator. We were shocked by this scene as G8 was taken place here in 2008. I expected a clean n decent environment but I was horrified when we entered the room. Carpet didn t vacuum well. My husband found a MnM beside the bed. Louvre was dusty n dirty. Mosquito screen door was full of dead bugs n dust. The coffee machine didn t function properly. One desk lamp did not work and I had to call for fixing. One of the wall lamps in washroom was out of order. We paid $464 for two nites but we felt we were in a 2-star motel.
Soooo upset !
we were were in 2011 also..
staff is amazing
food in the main restaurant is top notch
room is perfect
honestly have no negative comments about this place.. we were here for 3 nights in august 2012, and cannot wait to come back.. the surf and turf is outstanding.
It was nice but there were some stains on the blankets
I really love this place its perfect for my whole family, the sunday brunch is great, the pool is really nice, the snowmobiling all around the building...cant get enough we come annually.
The scenery is beautiful and they provide so many activities to do. We stayed there overnight because of our hike at Algonquin park. The staff was friendly and attended to all our needs. We regret only staying one night because we couldn't do much of the activities they have to offer. Will definetly come back and stay longer!
Would not recommend this resort and would not go back. The grounds are beautiful, but ... comparing the price and quality of service/goods that you get, it's not worth it. You do not get what you expect looking at the pictures and/or planning your trip. Rooms are dated, cleanliness is not up to standards (even in the times of COVID), service is so-so and restaurants are overpriced.
The waterfront and beach actives are amazing. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Would go again
Great place to take the family for a getaway. Amazingly nice staff and tons of activities to keep busy.
Very nice place. We stayed at the Bayshore wing and our room overlooked the beach. They had so much activities. We did Paddleboard, Jetskis, Flyboarding and played in the floating bouncy castles. The resort was in close proximity to other Huntsville attractions, making it easy to do a lotta things while you're there.
Great day in Huntsville with friends
Beautiful golf courses, great food
All in all, a perfect day!
Thank you to all staff working hard to make this tournament one of the best in Ontario.
Everything you need was available in the room. Clean and great service. We stayed for 3 nights and had a great time. Great fall escape and resort followed all covid guidelines from curbside check in to sanitizers around evert corner. Great things to do like golf, and indoor pool, mini arcade for the kids. I was especially happy that you had to book a time and the games were cleaned and sanitized by staff before and after uses. If you stayed in the Summit Lodge, they give you all dishes and cutlery as well as soap and dishwasher powder. If you are looking for day trips check out the Main Street as well as Lion's Lookout and the Heritage village. Great time had by my young family. Fall colors were beautiful. It was a very beautiful trip and we will be visiting again.
Attended a staff retreat. The facilities and grounds were very nice. The meals left something to be desired.
Only been here during winter, however me and the family loved it.
Beautiful venue but is starting to need a cosmetic update.
Very friendly staff, lots of entertainment including node swimming pool and climbing facilities!
Clean, looks good, food is not good. Understaffed
Decent resort but would recommend staying in the hotel as the property by the lake is showing it's age despite renovations. Work ongoing next to the Bayshore with a new condo development ongoing. Beds were super comfortable, bathrooms were okay but a little tight dealing with smaller kids. Cleaning staff could do a better job in the rooms. Kids enjoyed the Splash Zone, indoor pool, rock climbing well as the food. The main buffet restaurant was good (Eclipse) staff were nice, but be prepared to wait if you go to either Compass or Maple. I would suggest this as a launch point for exploring around Huntsville. Also available EV chargers available (Telsa and others).
The resort was very well kept in general. The staff were kind and friendly and signing out kayaks, stand up paddle boards, etc. was seamless.
I only visited the pool which was quite nice. Very large and nice temperature.
The summit lodges are great and feel like a second home (I stayed in building 52); they are newly renovated with a fireplace and a kitchenette. The staff are super friendly, the painting on the walls that surround the pool are awesome, and you're surrounded by beautiful nature. The grounds are well kept and if you get bored of the resort, Algonquin park is a short drive away for some great hiking! I recommend taking a horse drawn sleigh ride in the winter, its fun and the best way to take a tour around the resort.
