This museum is a definite must for anyone in the Dayton area. It is full of information on the history of the city and surrounding area, as well as the industries which grew here. There are old cars and wonderful antique cash registers to behold. Many old buildings such as a schoolhouse from the early 1800s have been mived to the grounds.

Great place to go back into the history of Dayton, Ohio. Numerous buildings and homes to walk around. The main building explores the history of NCR and other businesses that she'd the area. They even have a merry-go-round on site.

This place is always fun, but the best time of the year is Christmas when they have extended hours and period era people baking gingerbread cookies, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, and carollers all over!

A beautiful site to see the tree lighting and hear the bells play Christmas songs. I will go back another evening (when it is a little warmer) to see the lights on the buildings inside the museum area.

I can't give it 4 stars only because we went on a Saturday and their train wasn't running. What a disappointment for my 3 year old. If the train isn't running it's really not for kids I say.

Dayton History is doing a great job at featuring fun learning and interactive history. The animetronics theater is very good and they are always adding more displays. If you haven't been in the last five years, you will be pleasantly surprised at all that's been added. And plans for the next 10 years sees more coming. We have a membership, we enjoy it so much.

Very nice historical village. Lots of information, lots of variety in the buildings.
They even have a carousel, which does cost a little extra, but is really nice. More than just horses, it has bunches of different things related to Dayton.
They do have a small train that will run on occasion, but was not running when I went. I took a picture of the schedule.
The map does say it has a "180ft slide" or something, they don't, they have a bunch of slides that might equal that long. I was hoping for one super long slide and was disappointed.

Great museum and park in Dayton. It is definitely worth the entrance fee. It is amazing what Dayton folks have created, invented, produced and led in.

Our stop here this time was about the Deeds Carillon Bells on our Ohio TuesDayTrips tour on the Dayton History Trail. It focused on the first unofficial Christmas Eve concert in December 1941 right after Pearl Harbor. It has been a tradition ever since.

Such an amazing walk through history!! I left there so impressed with my visit. The staff in each building truly care about the stories they shared. And, the eagle couple is impressive as well!!

First time coming to the park and it was during the Christmas lights in the park!! Parents and kids had a great time on the train ride, delicious hot chocolate and popcorn! It was fun to go through the historical houses. Will definitely go back for a third time!

Christmas light display is so worth going to check out. You can go inside original historic homes that were moved into the park from their original location. They have an antique print shop where you can get a Christmas card with your name on it made for free - made from am antique printing press. They have cabins that are historic that they actually use to make gingerbread cookies and serve hot cider over an open fire by folks wearing period specific clothing. They have a huuggee historic museum on site that gives so mich history about the City of Dayton. I never knew so much came from Dayton. Prices to get in are really well worth the cost - I think we paid $11.00 per person for the whole Christmas light/museum/outside cabin experiences. They have a train ride outside for the kiddos as well. They also have an onsite cafe where you can order "sit down" type food and another smaller snack shop on the opposite end of the park where you can get beers, wines, popcorn, etc. If your in the area around the holiday season you have to check it out - its a must!!!!

We enjoyed our time here a lot. It was knee resting to learn how much history there is in the area. It was really quiet since it was a weekday, but we'll worth the time, and the modest price of admission.

The 151 foot tall Carillon Tree of Light is wonderful in December. Be sure to walk under the lights and look up. The main park is closed due to the COVID-19, but surrounding areas are open. If you are lucky you will see one of the eagles that nest there. I did and was able to get a nice picture or two.

Who knew that Dayton had an interesting history beyond the Wright Brothers. The animatronic show was odd, but still informative. The room with all the cash registers was awesome. These registers were ornate and beautiful! I personally loved the print shop. They had a demonstration that day which was pretty cool to see the older machines at work. The Huffy bike section was informative as well. Being from NOLA we have streetcars, so it was exciting to see their cars. A great visit! PS Thanks for the smashed penny machines- so hard to find these days!

So fun! The rail festival was perfect. Not to many people and not to big! The kids loved it! The line for the train ride is always long so we skipped it. But everything else is awesome!!!
