Over the years I've attended several Book-It Repertory Theatre's productions, and I've always come home glad that I went. As a senior citizen on limited income, it's often easy for me to get a very low-price Rush seat (arrive at 7:00 if you're interested in Rush). My favorites have been their productions of the classics. Just love those classics!

Book-It always has the best shows. With other theaters I never know if the show will be hit or a miss, but Book-It never fails to impress!! It has such wonderful stylistic choices and relevant story topics, and the staff are always very friendly. Oh, and it s totally cheaper than other theaters in the area. Definitely check it out!!!

Tonight I saw the production "everything is illuminated" and it was extremely well done. It moved me to tears, then later to near-hysterical sobs that lasted well after the show ended. The actors were phenomenal, the set was great, and the lighting and technicians were amazing.

Saw Huck Finn on 2013-04-27 with a group of friends and we loved it. The cast was excellent, they used the stage well, and the staff was welcoming and kind. I highly recommend that play, and after I see more, I have no doubt that I would recommend the theatre in general.
Also, there really isn't a bad seat in the house.

The artists hosted here are Broadway-quality. The shows on this stage stay genuinely true to their respective books. Howl's Moving Castle especially sticks out to me I dragged along my best friend, who thought they were just going to be sitting bored for two hours, to the Christmas Eve showing. By intermission, however, they met my " ! That was so good!!" with an enthusiastic " good!! I didn't expect anything like that!"
TL;DR Thanks to Book-It RT, I converted my friend who thought performing arts are boring.
Concessions are as pricey as you'd expect. But hey, support a small theatre and get candy/popcorn/sandwiches and soda/water/coffee/cocoa in return! (u can't take them into the theatre, obviously.) Lobby is homey and has interesting information about details of the show as well as public input to do with the themes of the show to get you thinking.
(I only have pictures from HMC because a big chunk of my gallery got wiped when I switched phones )

Amazing performances. I love the adaptions they come up with for great books. Every season gives me new additions to my reading list. I have found several novels I have thoroughly enjoyed that I never would have read otherwise.

About Book-It Repertory Theatre

Book-It Repertory Theatre: Inspiring Audiences to Read through Simple and Sensitive Stage Productions of Great Literature

Book-It Repertory Theatre is a Seattle-based theatre company that has been inspiring audiences to read through simple and sensitive stage productions of great literature since 1990. The company's mission is to transform great works of literature into great works of theatre, bringing stories to life on stage in a way that engages, educates, and entertains audiences.

At Book-It Repertory Theatre, the focus is on storytelling. The company's productions are known for their simplicity and sensitivity, with an emphasis on character development and emotional depth. By staying true to the original text while also adapting it for the stage, Book-It Repertory Theatre creates productions that are both faithful to the source material and engaging for modern audiences.

In addition to its mainstage productions, Book-It Repertory Theatre also offers educational outreach programs and tours. These programs bring live theatre experiences directly into schools and communities throughout the Pacific Northwest region. Through these programs, students have the opportunity to engage with literature in a new way, seeing how stories can come alive on stage.

One of the unique aspects of Book-It Repertory Theatre's approach is its use of "verbatim" theatre techniques. This involves using direct quotes from the original text as dialogue in the production. By doing so, audiences are able to experience not just a retelling of a story but an actual representation of it.

Over its more than 30-year history, Book-It Repertory Theatre has produced over 100 plays based on classic works of literature such as Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice or Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime & Punishment as well as contemporary novels like Cheryl Strayed’s Wild or Octavia Butler’s Parable series.

The company has received numerous awards for its work over the years including multiple Gregory Awards (the Pacific Northwest’s equivalent Tony Awards) recognizing excellence in regional theater production across categories such as acting direction design etc., Seattle Mayor’s Arts Award recognizing outstanding contributions made by artists organizations cultural workers businesses philanthropists educators arts advocates etc., among others.

If you're looking for thought-provoking entertainment that will inspire you long after you leave your seat then look no further than Book-it repertory theater!
