Got to be one of worst web sites to try and book a holiday. Only thing that worked was what part of the bus you want to sit.
We have just returned from a New Year break at the Stuart Hotel, Blackpool, and have to say it was one of the best New Year breaks we have had in a long time. We had a friendly driver (Graeme) who was a very good driver in difficult conditions, very heavy rain during both journeys. Our arrival at the hotel the staff were very pleasant and made us feel welcome, room was adequate for our requirements, evening meals were really good home cooking and the service was excellent (no long waiting times between courses), breakfast was buffet style with a good choice of cereals, yogurts, jams & marmalades and everything you could want or think of for a full cooked breakfast. The hotel is quite far out from the town centre but tram & bus stops are within easy walking distance and fares are very reasonable. We will certainly consider returning to this hotel again in the future.
Just had the most amazing week in rhyl ...great from start to finish will def use you again
Myself and my wife went to the Stonehaven Fire Ball Festival, the Festival was superb but the Hotel was diabolical. The food was disgusting, the first evening meal was soup the could only be described as gruel, the main course was a small portion of lasagna with garlic bread or tagliatelle with garlic bread and the sweet was dry apple crumble with no custard cream or anything. The breakfast was reasonable but the following evening the main course was processed turkey roll with potatoes and vegetables, disgusting! Many of the guests including myself went to a local Chinese takeaway to get something to eat. The hotel was The Best Western Summerhill Hotel and Suites Aberdeen. It s the worst place we have ever stayed.
My husband and I are just back from a trip to Ballyshannon in Ireland it was first class the hotel was lovely also the food was 100%. A big thank you to the coach driver john Cassidy he was first class.
Poor food menu. Was waiting for queen tribute. Never happened
my partner & i took the coach to see Rod Stewart in inverness it was a shambles the coach was 30 min late picking us up from Aberdeen we stopped at Baxters to change drivers ,got to our hotel what a dump we did't have time to do anything by the time we got there it was just a case of getting your room key dumping your luggage & down for something to eat which we never had time to enjoy as we had to leave to go to the concert.
When we arrived back at our hotel everything was in darkness the room was filthy the bed was done you could feel the springs coming through and when you was lying down on the bed you could feel the base of the bed in this day & age this is very poor for a company like david urquhart to put you up in a place like that
9 weeks since my holiday cancelled still waiting on deposit refund
just back from Hotel Glenmorag 3 night break...would defo recommend . The food was homely piping hot and very tasty. The staff were helpful and very friendly. Best of all was our coach driver Jean Paul a lovely gentleman who took care of everyone, entertained and went out of his way to ensure we all had a good time. Just loved JP's irish accent, wit, humour and not forgetting his wonderful music mix....look forward to our next trip just hope JP is driving
Just in the process of writing a long complaint letter again for my parents regarding their New year break at the Waterside Hotel Peterhead. David Urquart while happy to cash in on the pensioner pound have shown a complete disregard for their client group. What hotels in this day and age ration food because they do not have enough to cater for their guests?? No working shower in the room, requested ground floor due to walking difficulties so placed in an annex seperate from the main hotel? Coach driver missed cut off for scheduled comfort stop so took them to a trucker stop with less than basic facilities Eugh!!! Did not pre arrange their stop a Dobbies in Perth who subsequently were unable to cater for them so taken to and dropped off on the outskirts of Perth town and left to walk into the town for refreshments only to find the sister coach parked sensibly in town ???? My parents have booked with Urquart for years however in 2015 they have found to their dismay this company is not one they recognise any more and while they were prepared after a bad experience in August to give them the benefit of the doubt on the basis that up till then they were always treated fairly, courteously and well looked after only to find to their cost this is no longer a given with this company.
Brilliant time with David Urquhart just back of 5 day trip first time my husband been on coach trip to Blackpool on Monday to Friday we stayed Manhattan hotel Blackpool good value for money Our coach driver Desmond or Des from lossiemouth or Buckie was brilliant can't thank Des enough for giving us a brilliant time with 1 day at Southport and I to Liverpool again he was brilliant can't thank Des enough for giving us a brilliant time I hope we meet Des again on a coach trip I recommend this company I am going away on holiday with my sister to Dunoon if it as good as this one I can't wait for us to go so well done David Urquhart and Desmond from Buckie or lossiemouth
Room had no heating was frozen and was needing a good clean won't be back
Was having trouble on the website and a member of staff was very helpful in getting the problem resolved. The operator was extremely understanding and I was able to get my mini break booked.
8 hours on a bus for a trip which takes 3 hours. Only one stop and no toilet roll in the toilet. Driver claimed someone must have stolen it. The hotel in Garve we were taken to was an absolute dive. Hideous. Food mediocre. Some really nice staff some not so nice.
New Year at the Gretna Hall Hotel. Very poor new year's eve entertainment package - the entertainers appeared to be drunk and could be heard using foul language. Very disappointing with many guests complaining. My room was exceptionally noisy with heavy haulage traffic all night long from the motorway that my room overlooked.
Staff were really good, polite and pleasant. Things improved greatly the following night with good entertainment and a lovely buffet. Hotel was very busy and wasn't always easy to find somewhere to sit.
Durham and Beamish + Lindisfarne trip, stayed at Chilton Country Pub Hotel friendly and good fun Sandra makes one at home.
Our coach driver Foggy excellent looks after all, uses his common sense. We all enjoyed
ourselves.
I forget the trip I booked with David Urquhart, it was so long ago, but I'm still getting loads of unsolicited spam mail from them despite repeated requests to delete my personal data
Wee day trip to Holy Island, Lindisfarne. Great wee trip xx
When's to isle of white last year picked up at wigton at0730 and were taken on a 100mile round jurny before whe started on our holiday aisle tsken on the same way on our return journey
Went on new year mystery tour to Manchester airport inn hotel ,staff were great but the rest of holiday a nightmare hotel rooms dirty carpets ,driver Paul not very talkative.coach broke down twice on way home ,never never going on one of your holidays again
I am on a shearings/leger coach trip didn't arrive till 1945 why they set of at 1300 hr I don't know we ate at 2030 and just finished at 2130. Things can only get better all I can say about the hydro hotel is it's ok
Enjoyed our 5 day break to Scarborough on 23rd September at the Boston Hotel.Food good stayed at room no.7 which had a fab view.James our driver was a star throughout. The windscreen wipers packed in on him on the way home but he remained focused & got us home safely.
Very friendly informed staff offering great value holiday breaks
The travel assistant booked our holiday for the wrong day then wouldn't refund our money even though the fault was hers. Staff were rude and unhelpful would not recommend this company to anyone and by the reviews i found after making my booking im not the only one!
Sadly due to the current climate, we find ourselves in, your coach holidays have went out of business.
Many many enjoyable coach holidays, the length and breadth of the country.
A lot of money spent with you over the years !
But alas, all holidays cancelled, and despite there being more serious things going on in life, trying to get your deposit returned or even speak to someone at Urquhart, is IMPOSSIBLE !!
* several emails with no response
* several calls with no response
* obviously hiding away from all their reviews platforms
* sad demise of a company that were pleasant to deal with, holiday with and spend my money with !!!
* you don't treat people like that as we are sorry for what has happened, but just want our hard earned money returned.
Hope no one else is having the same experience ?
From Alex Le Grice
Went to Evans Hotel Llandudno on 22nd/26th July. Very good hotel, nothing fancy but good staff, great meals and excellent choices of food. Our bus driver James was an excellent driver and lovely guy, our bus was kept clean throughout our trips, my only complaint was that the leg room on bus wasn't great for such a long journey and the air conditioning could have been better. All in all my cousin and I had a lovely holiday, thank you.
A first class company to deal with pleasant courteous and very informative staff ,with regard to your destination
we have been going on these tours for a few years bus company run a great service drivers all helpfull .always on time and allow you tlme at all holiday destinations the hotels are not new but they are very clean and the food is better than 3 star hotels in spain and staff likewise the 1.50 bars cant be beaten and entertainment to most hotel have mixed age group but no noisy stag and hen dos so you get to sleep no problem we will always return
All ways looked after his customers for 37 years and good value for money
went with Urquhart to torquay it was brilliant and hotel was nice but the coach driver ronnie was a really nasty and horrible man was rude to everyone on the coach and took 3 days off to go drinking told Urquhart who told us to send a letter we did and all we got was a letter that said the driver no longer works for Urquharts no sorry no nothing don't go with Urquhart
The tours/hotels never change especially the hotels which on some tours are very poor such as Britannia Stockport, Georgian Hollies, New Oxford in Blackpool. You only get what you pay for some tours might be cheap but they are certainly nothing to make you cheerful.
Booked a weekend away in Scotland but it had to be cancelled David urquart travel were very efficient and the full payment was back in my account within a few days. Will book again when things get back to normal.
Local pickups and great holidays. Nice coaches and excellent hotel choices.
I have booked several trips with David Urquhart and different times over the past few years and I've never been disappointed. Passengers have always had the best of service and care and I've always found the accommodation value for money.I wont hesitate to book with this company in the future
The people running the place were like Hitler. We had to queue for our food. There was little entertainment no atmosphere what so ever. It was just like a normal weekend away. We found the people in charge were very rude and arrogant. The other staff we great very helpful. There was nothing special put on for new year we had to make our own fun. Overall very disappointing.
Although Boston hotel could not be faulted the journey here was to long from Hamilton . Bus left at 730 am and arrived after 5 pm . Travelled 5 hours to be back 20 mins from home .we should have been at Scarborough by then instead of picking people up from all over Scotland . Was in a lot of pain after journey .had I known I was traveling for almost 10 hours instead of less than 4 I would not have went . Smell from toilet was over powering and was most uncomfortable journey . Driver did all he could to mask smell without much success
Fantastic holiday to the Chelsea flower show, our driver was great and we had a lovely time.
Many thanks from Hilary and Brian Fowlie.
My mom and I booked to go on the Easter Weekend tour to Aberdeen and the surrounding area with David Urquhart tours.
On the plus side, all our fellow travellers were absolutely lovely and the staff at the hotel we're friendly and helpful. Aberdeenshire is beautiful and while the drive to and from Aberdeen was extremely long, the Scottish scenery was spectacular most of the way.
Unfortunately the Aberdeen Britannia Hotel - which is definitely not "attractive and modern", is in a run-down location, so after dinner there was nowhere to walk in the evening, and no beer garden (or any garden) at the hotel for us to sit in to enjoy the good weather. The hotel is in need of updating and does not live up to the photos on the internet. All meals were buffet type, and with several coach tours staying at the hotel, although there was plenty of food, it wasn't a pleasant experience having to queue for every item, or the pressure of knowing that another coach party would be needing your table shortly. The bar is part of the dining room, so people congregated, waiting for their turn for dinner, in the bar, leaving no space to sit when not eating (refer back to the lack of outside space). We eventually took our after dinner drinks to the Reception area as it was the only place to sit apart from going back to our rooms.
My biggest gripe though was with the advertising of the tour. On our first day, we visited Crathes Castle, the Banchory and Aboyne. Crathes Castle is beautiful and was definitely the highlight of the tour - lovely grounds, tea room, gift shop etc. However, the advert from David Urquhart read "Next, we're off to Banchory, a thriving town with a vibrant high street full of independent shops and charming tearooms. After time to explore, we make our way to Aboyne where you can wander the little shops which surround the pretty village green." Unfortunately Banchory was anything but thriving - in fact like most towns in the UK, the high street is suffering with many empty shops, and those that were open were either charity shops or the usual shops found in high streets in every town. It was a glorious sunny day, so there were families out in the park enjoying the good weather, which was nice to see, but as we were looking forward to a town "full of independent shops", we were quite disappointed. We were also taken to Banchory after lunch on a Saturday afternoon, when anything which might have been open, was already closing, and the farmers' market shutting down. More of the same disappointment in Aboyne. Apart from the newsagents, only two shops open (again many shops closed or empty) - and the owner of one we visited even questioned the wisdom of David Urquhart tours taking us to Aboyne when there was nothing open. Perhaps these towns where thriving when this tour was put together but the tour itinerary definitely needs updating.
The six hours spent in Aberdeen on the Sunday were again disappointing as we had hoped for a few shops that were unusual and independent, but just found more of the same high street shops. However, the architecture is interesting, the murals which were unveiled that weekend (lucky coincidence for David Urquhart tours I'm sure) were quirky, and we didn't visit any of the tourist spots, so I can't comment on those.
I would not recommend David Urquhart tours as their tour did not live up to the advertisement, and I would be hesitant to trust them with my money or holiday time again.
Just returned from 4 night Luxury Christmas Break at Copthorne Hotel with David Urquhart. The worst Xmas I have ever had. The most impersonal hotel ever with Staff who were barely able to speak English. We had to queue for meals with More
4 star hotel with great amenities...good loco for store an pharmacy.
Home from a lovely week in Dunoon. The tours was brilliant, we had a lovely driver John he was very helpful. The glenmorag hotel in dunoon really need new beds and a face lift. The staff where very nice only to happy to help. Food was lovely. Looking forward to my next adventure with David Urquhart. Great value for money.
Coach trip to blackpool booking process 5 star + girls really helpful. coach drivers great.Hotel friendly bar staff rooms adequate. Dining experiences could be upgraded.
Sent my mum and partner away for her 70th birthday.she was to get picked up in ek town centre.i waited with her until the bus came to pick her up.the bus showed up it was a total banger.i thought to my self god that bus will be lucky if it makes it out of ek.apparently the bus went on fire with heavy white smoke bailing out of the engine compartment.my mum said she was on the bus for 10 hours just to get there.the journey and the hotel were a complete nightmare from start to finish.i normally recomend companys but not this time david urquart should be ashamed of yourself.i will be writing a letter of multiple complaints.
Just come back from Rhyl the coach and driver Ken was first class the hotel was another matter we were in the Westminster and we were put in a room on the Very top floor the lift only went to the 3rd floor we then had to climb the stairs for another floor I am 76 and my wife is 71 the bed and shower was a joke so come on Urquharts do you ever check these hotels or just take our money and let us get on with it
Dont use this company. I've had 4 trips cancelled by them in the past year after booking and paying a deposit. I got slightly bad tempered about this on the last occasion to which their response was that it tells you in the blurb that trips might be cancelled. I shouldn't have gone back to them but they offered a (miserly ) voucher to make up for cancellation. This may be a ploy to get you to take a trip they want to fill up. Or maybe they just assume you can keep the whole year free and take a booking they want you to. I know others who have been similarly messed around. They don't seem to be affiliated with any trade body and I am surprised they show the Visit Scotland logo on their website.
A small party of us participated in the 'Stonehaven Fireball Festival' provided by David Urquhart travel over the New Year holiday. I must say that the experience was fabulous! The driver, Ross, was brilliant in his attitude, knowledge and just being a good guy throughout the tour. The selection of hotel (the Britannia in Aberdeen) was good for the cost of the tour; good staff, food and entertainment throughout the four day tour. The 'Fireball Festival' visit part of the tour (and this is in no way Urquhart's fault) was just too busy for the time allocation provided - we missed a fair bit because of the large amount of peoples attending the event, and had to get back to the coach- which was no mean feat having to 'fight back through the crowd so as to be back in time...In summary, a good tour made all the better by the Urquhart staff and the staff at the Britannia hotel accommodation.
Great value plus very pleasant and professional driver.
Just back from a few days visiting Tutankhamun's excibition and a few hours sightseeing in London even storm Ciara didne dampen our spirits . lovely hotel . good food choices will defo look at more options hopefully with brighter weather V.Laing

Just back from trip to Dunoon with David Urquhart at Glenmorag Hotel. Our driver Billy was lovely. Very informative about the different places. Staff at hotel were first class - very pleasant. Food was really good. Hotel could be doing with getting done up but if you want 5 star you pay for 5 star. Well worth the money. Will be going with Urquhart Tours again.
I have written complaints to urqnuart travel so has my husband on our feedback forms about our stay at abbeycourt in Torquay on 10th July I also phoned urqnuart during my holidays told you can't phone to complain. Urqnuart tell I g
As you seem to have removed my review here it is again. Stayed at Garve hotel and had no complaints, food and cleanliness excellent. My gripe was with the excursion advertised in your brochure to LOCH NESS & Inverness. Driver Ken drove us More

New year mystery break to Britannia airport Inn Manchester with "chic Thompson" I would personally like to thank chic on behalf of myself and my wife for going above and beyond the call of duty between 31st December 2017 and 1st January 2018 for all the help and support he gave us as I was rushed to Macclesfield A&E through the night as I fell extremely ill and was taken to hospital by ambulance for a heart attack no one new where I was taken to by the paramedics but chic and the staff at the airport Inn Manchester gave my wife all the support they could and between them found out what hospital I was taken to thanks chic on behalf of myself and my wife Kate for all the support through such a scary time such a great driver and a true friend thank you

just returned from a tour to blackpool with david urquhart to the norbreck hotel NEVER AGAIN the food was good and the tramstop was just across the road thats the end of the good we were a party of 3 i asked the tour company to put in a request for us to be on the same landing the hotel said they didnt contact them so we had a twin room 242 on the 2nd floor and the single room 801 at the other side of the huge hotel i let the receptionist know that was not acceptable she was not pleased but got us a room on the 2nd floor the room was musty and the windows filthy black and a strange smell out of the drawers furniture all marked and scraped no walk in shower and no grab rail on the wall at the bath and the bath was slippy not good for people in their 70s not a shelf for to put your toiletries the airvent was dark brown and filthy we had no housekeeping for 2 days out of our 4days SHOCKING NO DRY TOWELS AND NO MILK AND NO RUBBISH COLLECTION THE RUBBISH BAGS WERE SEE THROUGH AND YOUR FINGER WENT THROUGH THEM HAD TO USE OUR OWN toilet rolls the cheapest of the cheap the food was very good but their is a chef in there (a tommy cooper lookalike) who is very abrupt and nasty the tables are far to small and meant for 4 people they hardly done 3 people and they were all crushed together it was a job in itself to squeeze by them with hot food in your hand and other guests giving you the eye horrible the soup was coloured water their was a musty smell about the whole place its to far out of blackpool about 7 or 8 stops in the tram duvets didnt have buttons or studs on them to close it the mattress although hard was quite comfy why the tour company (DAVID URQUHART IN SCOTLAND would associate themselves with that kind of hotel beats me will try another tour company in the future so please read this and give it a wide berth our driver (STEVE) was lovely and well suited to working with the public
They are helpful and the staff are very knowledgeable
Good afternoon staff friendly food really good seating all round
