I Tried to give Sinclair my business after going to Laura GMC in Collinsville Illinois and not really liking the sales guy. I ve bought several vehicles from the Sinclair s over 25 years but never with a trade. I ve never had a gmc brand truck and heard Laura was the place to go so I went there first. My trade was a one year old longhorn dodge, I bought it new from royal gate a year ago to the day, it stickered for over $60k and I paid $42k after negotiation currently kbb gaves it a trade in value of 35000 to 38000. It had 1200 in damage to the back corner, I had a bid on it so I knew the cost. Laura offered me $34500 for my truck with the damage but the sales guy rubbed me the wrong way.....luck of the draw, I guess he was having a bad day, but I was ok walking, so I left. That night i went online and came across Sinclair. I had always bought fords from Sinclair before the 6.0 diesel nightmare and found the gmc dealer, I had not thought of them before.
I took my truck to Sinclair the next morning (today) worked with a great salesman Mike Obrian. There trucks are discounted on line as are most gmc dealers right now, and they were the same price as Laura gmc so I came in ready to do the deal. I picked out the truck I wanted, same price as Laura gmc then mike my salesman comes back telling me $28000 was the trade offer. I knew something had to be wrong, I showed him the kbb TRADE IN value of $35k to $39k, he went back and tried again and they said $28k was all they would do. I felt bad for Mike, it was such a waste of both of our time. My exact style truck is $41k to $44k all day online retail. They were trying to screw me or didn t know. What they were doing. I thought they all wanted high quality used vehicles.
I left Sinclair and have accepted the offer of $34,500 with Laura GMC.
I would not go to Sinclair with a trade for sure. My salesman at Laura was happy to hear back from me, and was in a much better mood today......of course he was ....I was buying right. Laura GMC was quick, easy and above all FAIR.
To my potential salesman Mike, I have 11 trucks in my fleet and swap out 2 a year at least, maybe you ll be at Laura next time I m ready...you ll have my business. SinclairS not giving you a chance with unfair trade offers like that.
