Customer service is apathetic. They take advantage of people with useless fees and make it very difficult to resolve billing issues. This is what happens when a company knows their customers have no other option. Good luck trying to communicate with them. Their customer service department is useless.
I searched up how to save money on their website and I did what it said and my bill came out higher, I pay a minimum of $250 but when I did what their website said it came out to $350.
Constant power outages throughout the year. I've lived all over the country with the military and I've never encountered a utility provider who had this many problems avoiding service interruptions in electric power. Optilink is okay since the upgrades to their network; it is still not a great value for speed but at least most of the service issues have resolved. As for Dalton Utilities electric, there have been six outages at my place this year and they always take several hours at minimum to come back online. I don't know if their infrastructure needs improvement or they are just cheapskates but I can't stand their "service".
My bill comes really high and I'm not usually home they dont even come and check my electric meter and other states do go and check your electric meter. Dalton Utilities just want your money.
I am absolutely disgusted at the disrespect I received from not 1 but 2 different ladies here today. The rudeness and the attitudes have literally made me sick. Your job is to assist customers. Even if you hate it its part of the job to at least fake it! Let me add that I work in customer service and would never speak to someone in such a horrible manner and still expect to keep my job. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER and dont go in wanting to speak with someone and expect a different outcome its 10x worse.
Charged me $75 cause 3 days late payment. I couldn't have online access and they didn't solve it over the phone not through email. I explained the situation to the teller and she did nothing to avoid the late fee for me.
Dalton Utilities charged me $50 for moving, even though I was still using their services. They just randomly charged me $50 on top of my bill. When asked what the fees go to, no one could give me an answer. They will charge baseless fees just to get money from their customers. It s really sad, and I can see why they have such a low rating. Even during a hard time such as COVID, they still are overcharging their customers just to get a little more money. I have no respect for Dalton Utilities.
I handle my mom/dads account, the account is under my moms name, Sandra Faulknor. I made arrangements to pay their utility bill (pwr & water) on Friday, 02/02. I usually have to make arrangements every month due to the timing that their bill is due vs when they receive their disability check. Anyways, I forgot to pay it on Friday so I paid it as soon as I remembered on Monday, 02/05. I received a confirmation email from DU stating "Thank you for your payment to Dalton Utilities. Your payment has been processed and your account has been updated." Well the next day in mid-afternoon, Tuesday, 02/06, a whole day after DU had received the payment my mom called me because her water had been cut off. I called DU & was advised that even though I had made the payment a disconnect order had already been processed & their automated system did not know the payment had been made. Oh they sent it for reconnect but told me I would still have to pay the $75 reconnect fee. I questioned how their automated system could not know the payment was made but their automated system sent me a confirmation email saying the payment processed and that my account was updated? Supervisor, Amber, didnt have an answer for that and said she would look at the account & call me back. I know we have to make arrangements almost every month & again that is due to the timing the bill is due & the date my parents disability check comes in BUT how can you seriously justify getting payment in full, sending a confirmation email saying the account was updated successfully, and still disconnect the service a whole day after you get your customers payment, & then expect the customer to pay the reconnect fee? YOU HAD THE PAYMENT A WHOLE DAY BEFORE YOU DISCONNECTED THE SERVICE & I HAVE THE EMAIL SHOWING WHERE THE ACCOUNT WAS UPDATED SHOWING IT PAID!!!! I posted this review several hours after speaking to Amber, have not heard back from her yet. I'm also planning to file a complaint with the Georgia Public Service Commission or if they do not handle Ill find out who to file the complaint with. I do realize it was my fault for forgetting to make the payment but I took care of that and paid it all in full the very next business day and again a whole day before DU sent your tech to disconnect the service! Also as I think about it, why just the water? I mean the water & power are all on the same bill? I think the account was updated which is why the power wasnt disconnected but somebody dropped the ball & didnt update the water portion and now DU is trying to justify the $75 reconnect fee. Very poor quality of customer service. I admit the error on my part in forgetting to make the payment but I did everything to fix that error and avoid an interruption in service and I have an email as proof that DU did get my payment and update my account. Still DU does not admit their error is this situation. $75 is a huge deal to a disabled couple on a budget just trying to get by.
My experience with Optilink was great. When setting-up the account, the associate was very friendly & helpful; unfortunately, I did notice take note of his name, so I can't praise him specifically. When moving, it only took one phonecall to cancel my account. There online payment system is a bit clunky & annoying, as I'm still getting emails from it about my expired payment method, even though I have no account anymore.
If I had any other options for a different water company, I would switch today....
Dalton Utility is the worst utility company. Very rude staffs, careless administration no customer care at all. I wish we should have another alternative.
Internet is absolutely ridiculous. It is so terrible, not just because it s from optilink, but the amount of updates you need to be doing on it. It is so difficult to work with the internet. Never works well, very slow. Even when you purchase their excellent router box. Optilink is very annoying.
I'm only a month in, but so far it's going well. I'm surprised by all the negativity here.
Very Rude Customer Service - Arecelia was the name she gave.
I called them about a bill being too high and they resolved it and gave me an explanation as to why there was a problem.
Im upset because i live alone hardly use any heat sit in the dark as much as possible and i get a $250 bill yet the people next door who have broken windows and no insulation have a bill of $60 what the heck for 20 years ive complained about this... Raven isnt my name! And i have called customer service they say its normal. Update no that wasnt my account my bill is never past due! Here it is a year later and still the same problem. I've replaced my furnace had my wireing replaced i keep my hot water heater off and all my lights are led. I even had the cable cut off got a smaller fridge and my neighbors bill with a family of 4 is still lower then mine.
I believe that our local company is receiving money from local cell phone data companies to have "outages" in random areas to drive up PAID DATA SERVICES SALES
This is 2017 and the excuses for lack of consistency in service are from the 90s when it was dialup 56k and don't make any sense now at all. They offer more than they have the resources for and charge you for inconsistent service with poor customer service reps to feed you all the same trained 1990s excuses with a smile. I will be switching to anything that is better ASAP!!!!
Will Do Video Review On Social Media In 4K
Me and my family (3 kids 18-2, and husband) moved to our 4 bedroom duplex very excited a week ago... Had to put power of course so we go to get it cut on and find out that we both owe a bill plus a deposit which runs up to $950.00! We asked if we could just put it under one of our names they refused we asked if we could use my husband mother they refused we asked if it could be devided up and tacked to each bill they refused!!! They wanted every penny before they would cut on our water and electricity... We even went to community outreach and doc up they even told them no... We have been with out water and electricity for a week... (Thank God for family and friends) and they don't even care that it's the middle of winter and there's 3 kids... Even though these reviews don't matter cause Dalton is a small town and you can't choose who to go to... Absolutely sad that this company is so money hungry they only care about their self... Y'all should be ashamed
We mailed our payment as soon as we got it. Apparently, with the breakins at the post office, there have been delays. So, we received a late notice on Saturday and immediately sent another check. ( cut off was stated to be Wednesday on the card.) MondayI received notice, by voicemail, that they were stopping service on Tuesday. I went by and talked to customer service. They can put a note in your account. She refused. It is Wednesday and my original check has been posted. The payment she forced me to make is pending. Another will probably show up today. I realize I do have a credit; but, the customer service rep was rude, rigid and completely unsympathetic. 11 years of payments on time made no difference. Just because they are the only game in town, makes them horrible at customer service.
Called and got a quote of $203. Went to get power turned on and the lady said it had to be cash check or money order. I said all I have is my card and she just goes "Sorry." So I come back the next business day and I have the $203 in cash this time and I go back to a different lady and she now tells me it's $230. I tell her it was different the other day and I don't have enough until I get paid if there was anything I could do like put it on my first bill and she also just goes "Sorry." They would've let me sit in the dark for a week if it wasn't for my stepdad. I'm just glad I don't have kids or the situation would've been a lot worse. Terrible customer service, they do NOT care about their customers.
One of customer service. She is Hispanic. She was rude
My issue is not with the service. However, the advertising campaign is rediculous. The worse of the TV ads is the Optilink campaign. If a poll were taken, I feel sure the customers would share my opinion.
Had my water cut off today because of failure to pay, however I paid online 6/17/17 both Dalton utility and Optilink, noticed it was taking longer for DU to come out of bank, but whatever. However, when we called to find out why our water was cut off they said we didn't pay, which I even put in my card info, the charged us 75 dollars, which I think was unfair considering the fault could of been their website, which I have had issues in the past.
My biggest issue is that customer service was rude, and would not put us on the phone with anyone that would hear us out or help correct this situation, and how we were treated made us feel like we were scam artist and that we were trying to take advantage of them. We were trying to explain that we are customers that have been in good standing for over a year, and that we do not know what happen and want to fix this. But instead of helping we were informed this is our problem and to contact our bank.
After all this and an extra 75 dollars because of a mistake on their website we are looking into other companies, I am willing to pay a little more to be treated like a human and with respect. Very disappointed.
One of the people we spoke with was Manager Amber Deanna
Deanda.
My pipes are frozen so I am currently going to be paying a service that is not benefitting me in anyway. I called them like two hours ago to find my water pump. My family found the water pump before they came around because we were told that they were going to take a while. When they finally got here; all they did was sit in their truck for like thirty minutes; they saw me come out like three times and didn't bother to greet me or address the situation. They even left after they saw me running after them! I spoke to a customer representative; she was terrible too. I work in customer service, and I am not allowed to talk to them that way. WORST SERVICE EVER. Rude lady, rude people.
Slowest internet ever.... If directv/ATT had it available I would switch in a hearbeat....
Well I say it's ok but I want to buy a internet but they close 5.00 a clock and I'm still working I hope they change time
terrible online website, cant do nothing right, and like $60+ to reconnect when it was past due? maybe we couldn't find the money for the bill what makes you think we'll find $ for reconnect?! crappy service. crappy internet. yall just take advanced of the Dalton costumers cause yall are the only providers here.
Dalton Utilities is by far the worst and has the worst customer service today 11.7 around 11:30 ish I was trying to pay my utility bill I usually pay at the kiosk however they do not take coins they round it off.So I had to go get in line, but the kicker was I was the only one in line. The man literally told me to wait he will assist me in a moment. So I got tired of waiting and I walked and this man is on his cell phone.Remind you I m the only one in line. They need better customer service!!!
Worst customer support I've ever dealt with. Insane fees. Terrible business model that embraces their monopoly.
