Overcrowded like hell (Tuesday Dec 27th). At 9:30 am, waited 30min for a parking lot, then 1.5 hour lineup for rentals and/or 1 hour for lift tickets. We gave up the day after we had seen queues worth of 20-30 minutes (!) at all 4seat chairlifts.

The mountain itself is by far the most playful, adventure packed, and nicest place to visit out of all local Vancouver mountains.
The staff suck though.
No one seems to care, why should they though. You only spend hundreds of dollars to come up for a day.
Things like keeping the snow makers off on pow days would be nice. Making the line ups easier to maneuver by putting ski poles and rope up. Basic things even smaller mountains around the world know how to do.

I know that some experiences are better than others. Although for the people that come more than a handful of days through out the year. We see the lack of ambition. Make Cypress more than a good mountain to ride.
Make it somewhere people want to come and enjoy because of the thoughtful staff. The attention to detail. Consistency is key for a solid foundation.

Great resort with a variety of terrain. A good choice for beginners or advanced riders. They have a good lift system which usually keeps the crowds moving even on the busiest days. The Lodge i was updated during the Olympics so it's good a good atmosphere. Try the chilli and poutine. Prices are a little more that the mountains around the area but you do get what you pay for.

The chairlift equipment felt safe, the cafeteria has enough room to accommodate guests and visitors. The runs were good enough for most levels. The only downside is that there's a lot of people going to Cypress Mountain, go there during weekdays.

Wow, it's been 8 yrs since I've been here and it's only gotten better! The service and runs are excellent and ALL the staff are freindly and anxious to offer help and answer questions. The parking staff were also very helpful. Love the pub and beer specials. I'll be back, all season!!!!

The lines may look intimidating, but they actually move surprisingly fast. The only problem I encountered here was when the power went out for a while a couple years back, but the environment was so lively, conversations were buzzing until it finally came back, to be met by a loud cheer and a resumtion of the lift.

Staffed predominantly by teens on a power trip, most of our overpriced 2-hr snow tubing adventure was taken up by attendants threatening to shut the slides down if participants didn't slow themselves down by digging their heels into the snow halfway down the slide.
On the drive up, just before reaching the parking lot, I was shocked to overhear one young attendant screaming at a driver that if she didn't hurry up and get in the already full parking lot that he'd refuse her entry to the park altogether.
Topping it all off, the slides themselves were unfortunately short and for some unapparent reason, the park opted to close 2 of the 5 runs on the last day of Christmas break which made for insufferably long line-ups.
Do yourself a favour and visit some other ski hill if you want to have some fun

Cypress used to be awesome when the population here was less. The resort can't handle Vancouver's current population any more, it needs to expand, though I'm not sure how.

If you get there late, you'll be walking at least a km from your parking spot. The lodge can't handle the amount of skiers/snowboarders/other and there just isn't enough sesting capacity.

There can be annoyingly long line ups for lifts too.

Good little ski resort. Quite pricy for a lift ticket, but it s the best of the north shore mountains in my opinion. Parking is quite frustrating and feels disorganized, as they might park you two lots back and then start filling the front lots with cars that were behind you.

First off: its the name of The Provincial Park & the privately run ski resort, yet in fact there s no actual Cypress Mountain - it s really known (by locals) as The Cypress Bowl derived its geological bowl-like valley shaped features More

If you re looking for the best local resort in the Vancouver area, this is your place. Try night riding in the spring (after daylight savings) for some of the best views over the Salish sea and surrounding area . In summer, you can access the trailheads for eagle ridge and unnecessary mountain that get you over to the lions.

Nearby hollyburn area is great for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, or great blueberry picking during a hike in summer.

As one of the local GVA mountains, Cypress is popular. Offers cross country, downhill skiing as well as snow shoeing. The staff are generally helpful. Parking is sometimes hard to come by but this reflects the area's popularity. The only gripe I have is that they often close the cross country trails and/or do not maintain them - even during the cc skiing season. Come on Cypress, we pay for the pass, please keep the trails groomed every day.

If you have the chance don t buy a season pass. Bought my last year and it was the worst deal I have done. Grouse and Seymour have way better deals for pass holders. Also traffic is the worst.

While this resort is not the "world-class" type resort of Whistler or Vail, it certainly makes a great show if being a fantastic local mountain resort. There's interesting terrain (especially for learners and kids) and usually well-groomed runs. The staff are usually very responsive and the facilities are well-maintained and modern. Sometimes the food in the restaurant leaves something to be desired, and there is a growing trend of "reserving tables" (frowned upon by management), you can get a hot meal and back onto the slopes easily and with the minimum of fuss... I have no issue recommending a seasons pass for locals and a day trip to the visitors!

This is the best Vancouver area option for experienced snowboarders and skiers. The best terrain is blue and black/double black diamond spread over two side by side mountains, it also has the largest area of the 3 local ski resorts. There is also a nice gentle bunny hill with a very forgiving chairlift (in comparison, the Grouse mountain beginner chairlift is like an ejector seat!)

One tip though, time your visit carefully. Traffic jams up the mountain, lack of parking, and extraordinary lineups for rental plague this place at holiday/sunny weekend times. If your group has beginners or members who don't ski/board, or your car doesn't have winter tires, Grouse would be a better option. But if you are all experienced and ready to hit the slopes, this is the place to go. By the way, views from the top are simply amazing!

In addition to being a good skiing place not far from Vancouver in winter, it is also very good to take a walk on the hiking trails there in summer. You can see Vancouver and its surroundings from the top of the mountain

Favourite mountain in Vancouver, it s bigger than Grouse or Seymour and have a decent number of runs open at night.
Food and drinks are pretty reasonable in the restaurant/cafes.
I think snowshoe rentals are a little overpriced though.

Bring your own gear up to avoid the long rental lines, but otherwise my favorite of the North Shore mountains.

Free parking, good range of runs for both beginners and experienced skiers, friendly and helpful staff, and great views of Howe Sound and Vancouver.

Cypress mountain is the best place from downtown to go snowboarding or skiing. The slopes are groomed to stay in good condition. If you ever forget some gloves they have a shop where you can buy them.

Compared to grouse it's a lot more dedicated to the sports that go on there. It feels like there is more than twice as many slopes. The downside is that if you go there with the family and are planning not to take part in the sports you will find yourself with little to do. Grouse is stronger in this regard.

The best time to arrive at Cypress is at 8am as the crowds don't arrive until around 2pm. This usually gives you entire slopes to yourself and friends.

Trade off: pricier and higher elevations than Grouse and Seymour, but a lot more terrain. The terrain parks aren't quite as well designed either. Great spot for night skiing though, and a fun bike ride up to the top too.

Great local mountain for ski and snowboard. If you need to rent any gears then better arrive early. They have restaurants and food court. Food in food court is not great and not cheap. They serve beer in the restaurant.
Location is great for people who is living in Vancouver even if you don t drive.

This review is about the cross-country area. I have been there over a dozen times and every time the experience is very positive. Trail grooming is good, staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable. Get there early (before 9:30 on weekends) if you don't want to park too far away. Great views and plenty of trails so even if there are many people it won't feel crowded. The warming hut at the upper power lines area is a nice touch and acts as a social and gathering place for those so inclined, or simply as a marker for those just blazing through. The Nordic Cafe chalet is fine and has all the basics. Areas for improvement could include opening Brothers Canyon East and the trails around there more often, along with more clearly indicating when it is open and when it is not.
