best local mountain for only downhill snowboarding and skiing. Not for sightseeing

Out of all the local mountains this one is my favorite. They have gotten better and making park features over the last few years. The only thing that puts a damper on things is Vancouver warmer weather the last few years.

A bit overpriced, but great slope with good facilities. It used to have a bit less before the winter olympics.

Tons of trails, good bunny hill for learning and great challenging trails for those with experience! The view from the top of Collins is incredible.

In the past we have had seasons passes at a different local mountain. We are very happy with the decision to move over as this mountain offers more terrain and challenging my kids to try something a bit more difficult. They only real issue I have with the mountain is the lack of organization for the lift lines. When it is busy on a Sunday afternoon it is pretty much Armageddon... People cutting lines, no organization at the back where it isn't roped off, at the front where lines merge no one cares about line order and generally have a me first attitude.. You really need to extend the roped off area further back, and have some one at the front keeping things in order.. I get frustrated by about noon and go home..

Since last year I am happy to say that Cypress has taken some of the feedback and implemented changes to improve the lift line organization. When it starts to get busy they do rope off the lines further back and things are generally more organized. I would love to claim that this is all my idea but reality dictates that likely many people may have suggested this change..or maybe common sense prevailed..

With that it appears the drive up to the mountain this year has been a disaster.. at 815 in the morning I have been stuck in lines well over 45 mins, and have had to park in the lower lots, this is totally different than last year where I could arrive at 830 and park in the upper lots.. This of course isn't Cypress' fault and won't deduct stars as a result. Plan to arrive early, or wait in lines or just come up after 1pm it is a little less chaotic.

Its a nice place for families and everyone. Make sure you stop on the way up or down at the lookout, spectacular views on vancouver and Stanley park

Best mountain within reasonable driving distance from lower mainland. Wide variety of slopes from beginner to advanced. If you're renting equipment come early! Lineups for rentals can be over an hour long. Buy your pass online ahead of your trip to save 20%. 3:00pm-4:00pm are busiest times because of the overlap between day and afternoon riders.

Nice place, best advanced skiing on the north shore! Less flats than the other NS Hills makes it better for snowboarding. Gets super busy and has a very corporate, impersonal atmosphere which bummes me out.

Most varied mountain of the local hills for skiing and snowboarding.

A bit pricey but worth it. Have fun with kids and family.

Decent sky hill with lots of half day hikes and snowing easily accessible from the parking lot with beautiful views of the howe sound

Mountains great when there is POW but it's not the best when there is icey patches and slushy snow, to many snow boarders but that's expected.

This ski resort is awesome and they have very good trails and some very good green and blue trails and this is very close ski restaurant to downtown Vancouver. I would definitely recommend this place if you don't want to travel long to Whistler.

Whistler is the best resort in BC, but Cypress is the best you can get around the Vancouver vicinity. Just about 40 minutes from Downtown and it s definitely worth it.

Very suitable for novices, the green road is very long, so that novices can enjoy the feeling of taking the cable car!

Friendly staff, easy parking, great facility, could add more gluten and dairy free food on their menu.

Best place to go skiing from Vancouver,less than 1 hour drive.

I'm a regular season pass holder.I just wish we had more snow last 2 years.

I recommend not going at the weekends (especially from Dec to Feb),as it gets very busy.That is why you should disappear before 11am.Good times are during week days or night skiing - you can consider this as a great getaway after work.

Good place for kids for skiing.. could use better pricing

I had an awesome experience. Going late into the season only half the mountain was open but the snow was great and runs are steep! Great food and ambiance. Cypress totally wrecks Seymour.

Best local Ski mountain for anyone living in the lower mainland. Only downside is the price; Cost $70 dollars for the day

Skiing was great, sunset through to the evening. Slow getting a parking space and some expected lines. Got a lot less busy at night.

My favorite out of the 3! Has the steepest slopes, love it.

I'm British and bought the end of season beach pass. I had my photo taken on the Saturday and they closed the resort on the Sunday. I've emailed customer service to explain the situation and have told them it's unlikely that I'll be here next year. No refund provided. Appalling service during these challenging times.

Don't forget to stop in the road to Cypress for the beautiful view of Vancouver.

I recently had an unpleasant experience with Cypress when I bought their ALTS package which included 4 snowboarding lessons and a free "OneNiter" seasons pass. The restrictions of the seasons Pass, as advertised on their website at the time of purchase was that you could use it to go up "1 night a week after 5pm". I signed up for the deal on the basis that being able to pick any night on a weekly basis was a great perk. The website however did not specify that you could only go up on the same days as your lessons, for me, I chose to have my lessons on Wednesdays and therefore it meant that I could only go up on Wednesday nights for the rest of the season. This was never clearly stated anywhere and it is not what I agreed to or expected when I bought the package. I emailed them to complain about this discrepancy and despite admitting it "could have been labelled clearer" they did not take full accountability for the false advertisement. They changed their website to be more specific but that did not change what I and many other people had agreed to when they bought this.

Update: After a few emails expressing my frustrations and the inconvenience this has caused, they have agreed to compromise and allow me to pick another set night of the week. This is still not the most ideal solution given that I have to stick to one night and have no flexibility (weather and other factors depending). Overall, for me it is not about the money but about the principle and the recognition and customer service received from Cypress could have been better.

So close to Vancouver, made it nice to just head up quick and jump on the slopes. They have lots of runs for beginners and intermediates. Some of the best rental equipment as well!

This local ski area offers a wide variety of ski terrain and fast lifts. The view of Howe Sound is incredible.

This is the best small ski hill in BC. For the price of 2 day tickets at Whistler you can have a season pass at Cypress. I rode 65 days this year for 300 dollars. That's insane. Amazing views, wildlife everywhere, night riding 7 days a week, almost every year they get the most snow fall off any hill in BC. I freaking love this Mountain and they give lots of love back. They reopened the hill for one extra day last season just cuz it was so awesome out. When had a ski hill ever reopened after the end of season? Monday morning to Friday afternoon you'll have the hill all to your self and never wait in a single line up. Whistler sucks. Seriously and it's only gonna suck more now that Aspen owns it.

Best mountain in Vancouver for skiing, much bigger than Grouse and Seymour

The best slopes in the all of Vancouver that are always an amazing blast to go down. Unfortunately everyone else knows that too, it can get very busy during the day. I recommend going by for some well priced night skiing, it's especially affordable with a Downhill Gold Medal card.

Best mountain in Vancouver, with a great mix of run difficulties for a mountain that s just 30 mins from the city. This is a spot that can accommodate the first timer all the way up to Olympic hopeful. Looking forward to be new season!

Hike all the trails! Swim in the lakes, they are the perfect temperature in this hot weather!

Price is crazy for 4 lifts but you are paying for convenience. Local are going over the boarder as the price is cheaper for more lifts. Please value your local skier or someone else will.

Always a great time. Lots of hikes in the summer and awesome slopes in the winter.

No cues, no repeat ticket swiping once on the hill and when conditions are good it's awesome. Off piste snowboarder. My iKON pass works here to!

Ticket cues were very short, hills were interesting enough to go a few times and still be exciting. Some good challenging runs

We hiked the st mark summit there. The hike is free but you have to register online. It s a hike for advanced but the views are crazy up there.

Way too expensive. 99 for a day pass. I get this industry may be hard to make money, but if you don't have the whole mountain open, you got to give the customers something back. Can't ask for full price and not deliver the full service. Even a 20 percent off at the restaurant would have been nice. People might actually spend more money with less services!

Better than anything outside of bc and Alberta (in canada) and it's just a 45 minute drive from Vancouver with a city view. Such a cool part of what makes Vancouver one of the most special coastal cities in north america, with such incredible coastal skiing to choose from on the north shore.

Although the mountains served their primary purpose-to provide a place to ski, the overall quality of the place was dissatisfying. The customer service varied wildly, with the lift and rental staff being friendly and accommodating. However, the staff in the cafeteria were not up to standard, kicking us out of our seats when a group of young males came along and demanded a seat. The overall quality of the institution was high, but the prices were higher. All in all, cypress was enjoyable every now and then, but left a lot to be desired.

Cypress is the best local Vancouver ski hill in my opinion. It has good level of skiing/boarding for all. On weekends, either arrive for 1st lift or around 3pm to avoid traffic and parking issues.
