Great place for scenic rush driving experience, all the way to the top of mountain meet up and discover Aliens lol.
My favourite out of the three local mountains but they seem to get the least amount of snow. Can't fault them on that though, my only real complaint is the price is pretty expensive.
Super busy on weekends. Expect to park very far away. They need better parking coordination.
It's the best of the local hills though. Expensive, but your looking into skiing, so you can't be poor. As a rule
Great place for an easy hike. The last 10 minutes are uphill, but overall is super easy. The wow at the end is completely worth it.
Favorite place to snowboard! Best runs in the lower mainland
Tons of beautiful runs. Great facilities. Easy to get to. Parking lot fills up quickly so get there early!
Poor management and the supervisor is very rude to guests. She should not be a supervisor. We bought tickets online and we still had to wait in line. Ridiculous system with poor parking makes it a very bad trip
Coming from the ice coast, this small but beautiful mountain is a godsend and only a 30 minute drive from Vancouver. If you don't wanna pay ridiculous prices at Whistler and wait 45 minutes per lift ride, try Cypress! It's local, it's got good lodge food, and it definitely has powder.
Mountain is just what one needs for a local mountain snowboarding fix! The Staff is great and really helped me out when I needed it. By far the best local mountain close to Vancouver!
Great runs and parks. Staff is awesome and very friendly. Definitely my favorite local mountain
Pretty disappointed every time I try to call for information on seasons passes there is no-one who picks up the phone. I hope this can be addressed.
One of the best places for skiing in greater Vancouver. Only second to Whistler.
Best ski resort in Vancouver with ease
PS. When I broke my back on the slope Ski Patrol was very nice and helpful
Great little mountain just outside the city. Appears to be very poorly managed. Supervisor in the bar told us what we had ordered wasnt on the menu when it was clearly printed on there. The people next to us got ordered at the same time but got their food as we were leaving, it was cold. The car park guys dont seem to care they were just sending cars into full car parks that they knew were full. Ticket checkers barely look at the passes. Parks dont really seem to get looked after, no lines are ever painted on features. Repair bench has no tools. Has great potential but they dont seem to care.
As any ski hill with close proximity to a major metropolitan area, expect crowds and idiots. Not just big crowds, but massive, ignorant, self-absorbed, pylons which will unpredictably skid their way down all the runs. This makes for a great game of dodge the wobbly pylon when you are forced onto a groomer. Expect to spend an hour or so sitting in your vehicle waiting just to get into the parking lot, as the useless horde backs in and out of their parking spots, second guessing every single move they make. You and your time do not matter to the demographic which makes parking here during peak times impossible.
Their prices are kind of high for what you get compared to other mountains, but the skiing is great if some snow has come down.
Super close and convenient from Vancouver. The mountains aren't huge but the runs are always well groomed. You do have to sometimes watch out for shallow snow though.
Great mountain to learn to ski or snowboard with 2 really good green hills to use. And a nice sized bunny hill. I always love coming here. Had an issue with a mean old lady when I was getting my rentals, she just wasnt sure how to use her computer system and was getting frustrated at me. But other than that it was great!
Best local mountain to ski on! The runs are amazing and the staff are super friendly! You should definitely check out this hidden gem!!!
For the distance from Vancouver and The about of terrain open at night this is a pretty good option for time and price. Get in early with a group and get a silver pass. Don't bother going on the super busy days. Too much standing around.
Best ski resort in Vancouver. I've been coming here for 3 winters. Silver pass is really a good deal for someone can ski on weekdays.
Terrible experience this morning . I was misinformed about free charging station spot for EV. I came up the mountain to find out that I need to pay $10 to get in to free charging area parking.
Good family activities on Friday nights and weekends
Lots of trails for snowshoeing of varying difficulty, however today we went up to the top only to find out that the look out point was closed off. Would've been nice to know that before we went up.
their customer service is very good, they aim to please, and they are the best of the 3 local mountains.
Location is half an hour drive from Vancouver or Burnaby, two mountains with variety of runs, family friendly
The largest of the local resorts and a host site of the Vancouver winter Olympics, Cypress has 3 main chair lifts, an on site cafe, restaurant and gear store, and a wide range of slopes for different abilities. While it doesn't have the same views of the city on a clear day and is noticably more expensive to get to than other options if you don't have your own car, it is nonetheless a great slope to have so close by! Note that both the shuttle bus and parking are cash only ($25 and $10 respectively). Worth a visit imo if you have the chance
Went to Cypress mountain for the first time to ski and had a blast! Staff is very friendly and the resort is very well maintained. Paid $180 for a full set of skis including helmet, skis, ski boots, poles, snow pants and the all day lift pass. Definitely recommend if you re a beginner like myself. It s important to also bring your own waterproof ski gloves and ski goggles.
This ski resort is amazing. The views on a clear day are stunning. Best views of Vancouver from the peak of Mount Strachan. Totally worth it.
If you want to experience racism, come to this mountain.
I purchased 2 tickets in Feb 2018. I purchased one with a gold medal card and the other one out of pocket for my brother . My brother did not know how to put the pass properly around the metal bar that Clips into the jacket zipper and because of that one of the ski Patrol in charge of the security took him to the office. My brother tried to explain the situation but Izzy, was unwilling to listen to him kept interrupting him and he was unable to express his point of view. She kept telling him that he has to pay a $200 fine in addition they will call the police an escort us without one word from us. Things got escalated and I had to come to sort things out.
The people in case are Lyon, Izzy and Dan all of which listened to our case with deaf ears. My brother and I are not Caucasian unlike the 3 people mentioned and there was a definite racial discrimination against us as no one listened 2 our point in case. My gold medal card was confiscated as well as my pass for the day. It's unfortunate because we were not the same skin tone, that what we said was meaningless and they wanted to call the police for no reason.
It was raining and crowded with tour buses full of beginner skiers, but it is still my favourite on the North Shore.
Best snow on the north shore and decent runs. A little bit of everything and very close to town. A small mountain with a big mountain feel.
Have only ever had great experiences with staff. They even went above and beyond a few years ago when we found out we were expecting. Oops.
We have been going here since 1998 when we first moved to Vancouver. And now our 4 year old has been riding here since she was 20 months old.
Great ski resort. Accessing facilities though is out of the way
It's really nice that they run a shuttle bus from the distant parking lots! Very handy, and really nice that it's free!
It's a very good place to ski/snowboard. If you are an intermediate in either of those sports, you are going to enjoy it the most. It still provides good runs for beginner and advanced, and there are so many amazing views!
Cypress rocks. Eagle bluff trail during the summer is epic. Boarding during the winter is boss. Great outdoor patio
Great place to ski. Just too packed during weekends and shuttle service excessively expensive
Great Skiing experience just 30 mins from Vancouver
Close to Vancouver, only 30min drive from dt, lots of different terrains. Might not have as much snow volume as other bigger mountains, but can't complain since it's so close to the city.
Decent place to go skiing, go during the week though because its really busy in weekends.
It's a nice small mountain, but the lines for the lifts are huge, the dining area is packed, and the chair lifts don't have foot rests, which is a real pain with a snowboard
There shutting down and not reimbursing the season passes at all. 0/10 won't be going back
Great local mountain that's 40 mins away from me (Coquitlam)
Great park close to the city. Has skiing options + great hikes.
It's my local. Weekends suck, but if you get up most weekdays it's pretty rad.
Lots of place to hike. But very crowded in the ski season.
It's always so busy. Crazy lines and the not much areas to site
It is a great mountain very close to city. You can ski at night as well.
Had my first skiing lessons here. It s ultimate. I enjoyed it.
Close to the city. Quality service. Nice environment. Not the biggest but decent enough. Raven claw restaurant also serves quality food for decent price. I like to call it home.
I've been to Whistler and Grouse, and honestly ? This is WAY better than grouse and not that much worse than Whistler. It's an excellent place to learn snowboarding. If you get there on a blue-bird day, make sure to get the Lion's Express Lift, it will be the best view you will ever see from this mountain.
It's my second try to come to Cypress this winter. I haven't been able to snowboard so far. Their system of "buying online to save" might be true for money, but definitely not for time. I am an early bird kind of person, and even arriving 10min before opening, there is only one booth that is open for people who bought online. Last time I gave up after 30min waiting, let's see how it goes today.
It's 2019, an I am not asking for a scanner at the lift that could identify myself through my cell phone, all I am asking is for a different system that allows me to arrive at the ski resort ready to go up the mountain and not spend most of the time I have to ski on a line for a booth to get a ticket
Breathtaking views! Loved hiking this mountain. Probably my favourite one I have hiked in Vancouver. Better than Grouse in my opinion. I think Grouse is overrated. Cypress Mountain isn't that hard to hike either, so you can enjoy your way up.
Icy, incredibly busy had to walk 20-30mins, hills full of beginners lying all over the place. You can do much better, just drive a little further.
Huge mountain. Some of the runs get a bit icy, but it's not too bad. Perfect for night snowboarding.
Walked the Black Mountain trail last evening to see the Wolf Moon. 7km loop to the bottom and totally manageable by reasonably fit hikers. We added another 3k just for fun. Recommend microspikes and poles, and hot chocolate for the top which is stunning! Totally worth the effort. Bring headlamps for the descent. Be safe and have fun!
Best local mountain. Busy on the weekends but good runs
Review regarding downhill ski/snowboarding. I'm an intermediate snowboarding (M-L terrain park structures, comfortable black diamonds) and Cypress is amazing compared to grouse/seymour. PROS: Much larger/more paths, daily coupons on website (half price Thursdays for students!). CONS: Grouse's "Cut" trail has a nicer view of the city.
I purchased snowboard lessons for my grandson December 2014. They cost me $250.00, there was no snow so they kept postponing the lessons until they finally cancelled them. And they won't refund my money. All they offer is Cypress dollars! I will spread the word to everyone not to buy any lessons on Cypress if this is how they treat their patrons. Very poor business practice in my opinion.
The snowfield is big enough for the service. It is also close to the city. The price is slightly lower and it is better.
Great place to learn skiing for the first time, due to terrain diversity. Generally good snow conditions.
