The room was nice and clean, however, much of the hotel has been turned into a temporary homeless shelter. There were several security guards at the front and two to four police officers stationed in the lobby at all times. There was open air drug use and dealing directly in front of the hotel. Many of the homeless people camped there chairs directly in front of the hotel doors making it difficult to even get it. Imy wife and I did not feel safe coming and going from the hotel and would not stay here again. Im disappointed that I was not warned prior to my arrival.

Our visit so fare is terrible!!
First we didn't get the room we were promised, the room we were given doesn't have any windows, it's terrible.
The experience last night at the Astor restaurant was horrible, the service was terrible, the food was so so.
So, after our first day there is no way I would ever recommend the Astor Crown Plaza.

Awful, no organization, rude employees, stay 3 nights with no maid service, ran out of toilet paper and no one at the front desk answers the phone! Want us to be checked out by 11 but it took us over 45 minutes to wind up carrying our stuff to the lobby on our own (you can not use there carts, you must wait for a bell boy) however they never showed up! Then it took over an hour to get someone to bring us our truck! Very horrible hotel

My room was really nice and spacious. Beds were comfortable. The hotel is located on Canal Street right next to Bourbon Street. So there are lots of places to eat and drink. With in walking distance of the River Walk.

Ok until the end. The hotel uses a Valet company by the name of Go Park. I highly recommend parking your own vehicle as I had over $600 stolen out of my vehicle this past weekend by one of their employees and the company refuses to do anything. They won't even review tapes or look at who drove my vehicle during my stay. I received a letter via email stating it basically is not their problem, I'm out of luck, and they intend to do nothing. Due to this response I have attempted time and time again to reach hotel management. I call daily and end each call with an empty promise of a returned call that never happens. I even called corporate and was given the same guarantee. Still nothing.

Paid 200 dollars to stay here, ac in room didn't work and the head of security wendell Findley decided to tell me I couldn't lounge in the lounge area because guest complain (I assume that it didn't matter that I was a guest either). the staff here sucks. Terrible staff here that know nothing about customer service.

It was horrible!!!! The workers had attitudes. The drainage was horrible ( I was taking a shower and a bath at the same time) the room was not clean when I got there. The parking was horrible!!!! It was and overall horrible experience. I will never stay at another crown plaza again. I was so disappointed!!!!!! The location was great!!!

I stayed here mid-May for a long birthday celebration. The hotel is located on Bourbon street and Canal...which ended up being a perfect location for my stay. We were able to walk right out of the hotel onto Bourbon street, and start exploring the French Quarter. It is also located right across from a Trolley stop, which was nice when we wanted to travel to the Garden District. There is also a CVS located right next to the hotel, which was helpful as we forgot to pack a few items.

The walls did seem a little thin in the hotel, as we could here the bachelor parties happening in the rooms next to us. We were usually exhausted after a day of running around the city, so the noise didn't bother us too much. Just something to keep in mind if you are a light sleeper. The hotel does provide earplugs though!

The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived to check in, but they have a staff member who will take your items and store them in a room until you can officially check in.

The pool itself is not very large, but it was good for what we needed. It's not big enough for actual swimming, especially if there are tons of people there....just something to think about if you bring children with you, or if you are expecting to swim laps. It was nice to look over Bourbon street and hear the street musicians playing while relaxing by the pool though. And keeping with New Orleans style...you can have a drink at the pool as long as it's not in glass.

Tip: We called the hotel to book our room, and were able to get a lower rate than their website and travel websites. Very helpful and nice customer service agent who worked with us. Plus we were able to put in a request for a room that was NOT on Bourbon, and was located higher up in the hotel.

I'd stay here again.

This room: high ceilings. Big b/c its handicap, I'm not. Tub is rusty around the drains and carpet is musty. Very noisy. Must be drunk to pass out and block noise. Otherwise room is good. The valet service here is worst ever. If you're driving and need your car - DO NOT valet. It takes at least 1/2 hour, maybe more at peak hours, to get your car. There is NO call ahead, so you're left waiting on the street for the car. Super convenient to all things French Quarter and Bourbon Street.

I gave this three stars because it is a beautiful hotel and has a great balcony overlooking bourbon street. That's where it stops. we were on the 4th floor overlooking canal and basically it's as noisy as sleeping on a mattress on the side of a highway. It was the worst night sleep I have ever had. streetcars, bourbon st shenanigans, etc. I'm aware of street noise in NOLA as this is my 7th time and always stay in the French quarter. I expressed this to the hotel front staff and asked to change rooms. I was greeted with a sarcastic, cold, passive aggressive gentlemen who did not give a single care as to my worries. He never apologized for the trouble and said they didnt have any other rooms available and I'd have to come back later and check again. In the end I had to downgrade my room just to find something else. I was looking to find my forever hotel in NOLA and this isnt it. I will never stay here again.

Hotel is in serious need of updating. Many of my room's outlets were not working. The light switches were not hooked up to the room's lights. All lights had to be turned on/off manually. Pillow cases were not put on correctly and zipped up. Bed sheets had rips in multiple places. Bathroom amenities need work. There were two of us to a king bed, but only one side had a night stand where I was lucky to find that my phone hadn't charged over night because the plug didn't work.

Right on the corner of Canal and Bourbon so you'll hear everything that's going on. But don't fret! The hotel provides a card that says, "Enjoy these complimentary ear plugs!". The card was nice, but it would've been even better if they actually provided the plugs. (The plugs were not there...)

The lobby is cool. That's the only 4 star part of this hotel. The rooms more of a 2-3.

Super disappointed overall. I will definitely not be staying at the Crowne Plaza hotels ever again.

The hotel was okay. Our first room had problems with the air and we had to put up a bit of a fight to be moved to a new room. Our first room was near the elevator and there was quite a bit of noise from that. Our second room was less noisy.

The location is great and it walking distance from most locations of interest for my group.

We enjoyed our stay here for the most part. It was close enough to everything to walk. Our first night was a Saturday. Our room faced Bourbon Street which was loud on a Saturday night. The hotel provided complimentary ear plugs, which was nice, but could only do so much. It quieted down after about 1:30am or so. The rest of the nights were very quiet. The pool area was small but nice with plenty of full sized towels. There is a hotel restaurant, though we did not use it. The front desk was always helpful. They do have a concierge to help book tours. The sign said the desk opend at 8:00am but we never once saw anyone there. We made our sightseeing plans at a different place.

Everything was great EXCEPT the bed was like sleeping on a box spring....Rock hard, which lead to achy backs in the morning and constant visibility of bugs in the shower every morning. Fast check in and check out and very friendly staff. Room service was fast and delicious. We parked in the public garage behind the hotel and it was 20 dollars cheaper and we had our car within 10 minutes of asking for it. The location can't be beat.

Cannot beat the location and price if you're a tourist. However, we were pretty displeased by our room. We didn't know that our room bordered a series of utility closets until the first night when we realized that exactly every 5 minutes there were three beeps that would sound, which could be heard over the noise of our AC unit. Then, every 10 minutes there was a very loud machine whirring sound. These two together really made it difficult for us to fall and stay asleep (which is, afterall, what you're paying for in a hotel). When asked if we could switch rooms, the staff told us, quite dismissively that they didn't have any rooms and there's "nothing they can do". I understand the reason, but the attitude was a nice touch to make me even more sour. We were told to check back the following night. We didn't bother. We bought a white noise machine instead.

Moral of the story: there should have been a discounted rate for rooms like this so you know ahead of time what you're getting into, kind of like when you buy the seat with a pole in front of you at a baseball game or concert.

At checkin I was told my double room could not accommodate a rollaway even though it was in the reservation. Manager offered no solution or accommodation. Upon arrival on the third floor, right near our room was some kind of water damage being treated by 3 LOUD dehumidifiers. The front desk claimed to have no knowledge of it. See video!!! Crazy, tripping hazard in addition to LOUD noise for rooms near elevator. No fridge, no night stand for second bed, bathroom not remodeled. Zero stars for customer service. Scared to see what the rest of the stay holds. Boo.

Stayed here this past weekend during the cold front and it was very disappointing. The hallways were freezing!!! The room was extremely cold. I put the heat up to 76 in the room and it kept blowing cold air through the vents. I shivered the entire night. The blankets are extremely thin and the beds are hard. The sink too forever to drain and the toilet kept running. Only thing good about this place is the beautiful lobby and the close access to the bourbon strip. Not a comfortable stay

The hotel it self is ok, but this is NOT a quiet area. The hotel knows this an provide ear plugs to allow guests to sleep. Other weird observation bis that the hotel bar calls last call at 9h30pm.

There was a mouse in our room and they didn't even say sorry. We had to stand outside downstairs in our pajamas for hours for a taxi to come because it's essense fest weekend and they were all tied up. I'm so irritated. Never again.

The location is prime however, you have to pay for internet and it's not for much you're better off just using your phone service. Window in room is extremely small beds are very uncomfortable.
Room is spacious.
No in room refrigerator or microwave.
Overall I might try and find another place where you can get more for your money.

My family and I had a great time at the Astor Crowne Plaza. Upon pulling up, Valet was quick to approach us, they were friendly and got us taken care of right away. Check in was quick and easy, we were checking in early, as Spire Elite members and beat the rush. At check in, she let us know she was upgrading us for being loyal Spire Elite Members. The Lobby was beautiful, adorned with luxurious furniture and paintings. There were several elevators to avoid congestion. Luggage service brought our bags up to our room - It was beautiful, spacious and clean. When first walking into the suite you had a living area, complete with a table and chairs, sofa bed, 2 chairs, a coffee table, and a tv stand with a large flat screen tv, down the hall you have a closet and the bathroom, and finally the bedroom, the ceiling height raises significantly and the floor to ceiling window treatments make the room feel so grand. The bed was comfortable and we received a very lovely welcome note and snack from Madison, an agent from the hotel. There was a coffee maker in the suite and the room service menu was extremely reasonable. The location can not be beat, it is right at the corner of Canal and Bourbon Street and it provided a great base for our trip exploring the french quarter. Everything we did was a quick walk so we honestly left our car in valet the entire trip.

Location is great if you want to be close to Bourbon and Canal. Check in was slow. Front desk staff not welcoming at all. Management definitely needs to work on customer service. Room not ready by 4:00. Received a room with view of old cement bricks.

The place is super nice. A reasonable price. The staff is very friendly and have useful things at the front desk. Everyone who works there is extremely nice and zero staff that I pass fail to acknowledge me. It'd wonderful. Their restaurant is delicious too btw any time of the day.

This hotel provides is in a perfect place to explore New Orleans. Directly on Bourbon St the hotel is also home to ACME Oyster Bar and everything is within walking distance. This was the least expensive room the week I was visiting. Great value!

The event we go to is great, but the front desk staff at the hotel isn't very good and they never have enough refrigerators for the people who request them. I don't understand why they don't have one in every room! Even in a motel you get a fridge and a microwave.
The bellman are very friendly and accommodating, but beyond that I don't think much of the staff except for housekeeping. They do keep the rooms clean.

This was a perfectly located hotel! Right on the corner if Burbon Street. Its at the beginning of the madness so it does not get loud in your room. They have a balcony in the back you can stand on & people watch on Burbon Street. There is lots of resturants, fast food, sex toy shops, CVS, & bars writhing a few blocks. Everything you need is right there. We never had to use uber. The staff was friendly. This will be where we stay every time we go there.

It was a lot more quiet then I expected, the beds were nice and always clean. I could actually connect my game system, something I am noticing more and more hotels aren't allowing. From arrival to departure it was a great stay

Excellent location right on Bourbon St and Canal. Perfect for stumbling back to the room after a crazy night of good times. The room was very clean and spacious. The 3rd floor pool was a bit small and frequently very crowded. The fitness center was well equipped and never busy. This was perfect for working off some alcohol calories. I booked this hotel through Hotwire, so I'm not certain of the standard room prices, but for Thursday-Sunday stay with 4 guests, I paid about $700. This seemed to be a pretty good deal based on other listings.

The hotel is clean. It is old but updated inside nicely. It is a big hotel; 2 buildings combined.

Not all rooms have a refrigerator and safe; so if you are looking for those features be sure to ask for them. The rooms were small, but ok since you don't spend much time in them. It is within walking distance to many sights, especially Bourbon Street.

The outside pool is very small with minimal chairs. The pool is in the shade until after 130pm (at least in Oct) and only one side got the sun at all, so the pool was pretty chilly.
And depending on which part of the hotel you are in, it could be a far walk.

The gym is nice, clean, and has a bathroom in it. It is open 24 hours, so you can work out on your schedule.

There is a very good restaurant on the first floor called the Bourbon House. Reasonable prices.

The staff was great and accommodating from the bell hop to the cleaning staff to the bartenders to the host/hostesses.

Overall a nice stay.

Great location, rooms are nice. Be prepared to wait 3+ hours for your room to be ready. And ask for one away from the elevators. We waited so long for our room we were afraid to ask for another room are we found out we were in 928. No view, elevators all day and night, lots of noise from the hall as very little sound proofing. Bed was comfortable and shower pressure was amazing! Probly will stay somewhere else when we come back.

Bed felt like it had rocks in it...very lumpy. VERY noisy...seemed like all of Bourbon Street was in my room. When I asked to be moved the next day to an interior room, they assigned me to one that was already occupied. Rather than apologizing for THEIR error, they acted quite put upon because they had to change it again. You would think that with all that hassle, they would have upgraded me or done something to compensate for the problem, but nothing (not even an apology). I for one will NEVER stay there again!!

Ok hotel right in the heart of the French Quarter. The hotel itself is just ok. The beds were comfy but theres nothing special about it. I've stayed at similar hotels for a fraction of the cost.

Valet staff was rude and blocked me in when I was trying to leave. My car was "standing" legally in the pickup zone for no more than 30 seconds when they pulled up several cars and parked them in the road blocking traffic and me from being able to leave. I asked them to move so I could get out and they told me this happens all the time and then sarcastically told they would move in about an hour.
The hallways smelled like mold. It was very vivid and recognizable.
The cleaners came and tried to walk in on us at about 9:45 when checkout was 11.
I called HR to tell them my issues and offer a chance to fix it. No one answered or returned my call.
Will never stay here or recommend anyone stay here. Get an Air B&B instead.

Located on the edge of the French Quarter, on the corner of Canal & Bourbon, lies the Astor Crown Plaza. It's an older hotel that has been recently renovated. Starting with the valet and working up through bellmen and the front desk, they're efficient, courteous, and professional. The interior of the property is clean. There are some minor cosmetic issues. The elevators that service room 5519 have scratches on the wood paneling presumably due to material transport during the renovation. Second, the bathroom sink in room 5519 is cracked. Other than that, I didn't have time to try the other amenities that the hotel has to offer.

The front desk clerk , asked for my credit to put on file. Told me the rate of $116 , then gave e me a total of $200 . I asked why so high he then said taxes and incidentals I said we were quoted $139 . I said dont charge my card until this is resolved . He charged my card without my permission. I asked for a manager. He said there was no manager on duty . I showed him the charge and said oh no you will get me a manger. He charged the card. $239. I showed him my phone because my charges go immediately to my phone, he also lied and said the only way to get an discount was to book online. I insisted on a manager and found out it was a lie. You don't have to book online. They do not have microwaves or refrigerators for the guest nor will they direct you to one to use. They told me they don't have microwaves for guest. Very bad experience though out my stay here. I won't go back . Never received such poor service and lack of Amenities at a so called upscale hotel.

Mice run around, the hotel doesn't change sheets between guests, and if you complain enough about getting clean sheets they'll wake you up in the middle of the night to deliver them. Not or them on, just deliver them. And make sure you flip the security bar as housekeeping doesn't knock when entering.

If I could give NO stars I would. Waited 23 minutes for valet. Then later that day after requesting my car, I was sent a text, they couldn't find ticket number they provided for the car...45 min later, I had my car. My room was already paid for, I just had to pay for parking. This hotel charged tried to charge me twice. . After having to go down stairs because they don't answer the phone, oh we made a mistake....another one! I drove a small car, they charged the price of the larger car to park, then said AGAIN oops, we made ANOTHER unprofessional mistake. Let's talk about the room.... nothing like the pictures!! If you use this chain of hotel, pay close attention to your bank account and credit card activities!! I'm military and travel a lot, this was my worse stay EVER and the entire front desk staff including Kelvin is the reason I'm sharing this horrible experience. Hopefully the cruise makes up for this mess!

The staff at the front desk were a little rude and seemed fairly irritated. Our room had a stain on the floor, the tub wouldn't drain, and the TV didn't work well. I wouldn't stay here again as Canal Street didn't feel very safe, I'd rather stay further in the French Quarter personally.

Nice clean room in an upscale hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only downside is the location is right at the corner of canal and bourbon street so you are going to be greeted with the sights, smells, and sounds of Bourbon street upon arrival. If you are a light sleeper I recommend having a hurricane or 2 due to the street noise.

When in New Orleans, this is the hotel we most often choose. Never disappoints. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Lobby is beautiful. Dickie Brennan's Bourbon House restaurant is attached. One of IHG's BEST properties-- always a great stay!
