Great location if you want to explore New Orleans....
Great location if you want to explore New Orleans. Nice room and good service.
Great location if you want to explore New Orleans. Nice room and good service.
My wife and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary Memorial Day weekend in New Orleans; this was our first trip there. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter because it had a better deal than Marriot, Hilton or Sheraton; also I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Charleston. However, if I knew what I know now I would have stayed at the Marriot or Hilton.
On a positive note the hotel is in an excellent location, right on the corner of Canal and Bourbon, fortunately our room was away from Bourbon Street and Canal so we did not hear all the noise throughout the night. The Front Desk staff and baggage guys were very friendly and helpful.
The room was small, it was smaller than a junior size studio apartment. That room was 15 x25 maybe, and the bathroom was 10 x7 ; the sink, toilet, and tub took up most of the space. The room only had one tall window and only one side of the curtains would close. The room also had two nights with lamps, but the lamps did not work. the room was well cleaned that first night we arrived, also the next day it was well cleaned. However, the last two days of our stay was unacceptable. That Friday afternoon we returned to our room and my wife finds a pillow case laying on the floor between the nightstand and wall; in the bathroom our old wash cloths were still hanging in the shower. Housekeeping did leave fresh towels, but why would you not take the old towels? Saturday morning we left our room and did not returned to the room until 1:30pm, thinking we would rest for a little then go eat dinner. Well, when I opened the door our room had not been cleaned. I went to the front desk and told them our room was not cleaned. The clerk asked me was my wife in the room? Why would you ask that question; no she was not, we both just got back to our room from being out all morning. The clerk told me someone would be there to clean the room. I waited for 30 minutes, no housekeeping, I called and told them again our room needed cleaning; I was told someone would be right there. Waited another hour and still no housekeeping. My wife calls the front desk, she asked when someone would be there to clean our room, and they tell her they cannot give a time. That set me off, I went to the front desk and I complained and told the clerk we have been waiting for 2 hour for someone to clean our room; you tell me someone is coming, then you tell my wife you cannot give a time when someone will be there. The room should have been cleaned that morning. While I standing there waiting for someone to get housekeeping to our room my wife comes down and says housekeeping is cleaning our room. I told my wife this is the last time we re staying here.
Last thing, the bill. When I reserved the room I was quoted $786; the next day after I reserved the room our card was charged $113. Called the hotel, they said a deposit was required. I have stayed in the Hilton, Marriott, and JW Marriott and I never had to pay a deposit. Then we had $50 damage fee per day hold on our credit card; I asked what is that this and the clerk tells me because of the hotel is on Bourbon Street, people get out of hand and break things; say what?
New Orleans was fun the food was outstanding, but I will never stay at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter again. I ll stick with Marriott and Hilton for now on.
Wonderful help, immaculate rooms, and a very convenient location. Only four stars because the parking situation is a bit of a problem. The rooms are a bit pricey but definitely worth it if you want to have a night ending in a luxurious bed or a day filled with awesome room service in front of a big tv.
Stayed in a king room in the historic Alexa tower. Quiet guests and prompt housecleaning. TV included and WiFi was easy to connect to. Staff and front desk are helpful and knowledgeable. Convenient location in the French quarter close to a lot of great restaurants and entertainment.
Ok hotel noisy but this is only to be expected. The management are well aware of the poor check in process but are not concerned. To compound this they would not allow wife to check into our room without me even though she had the bookin and id she was sidelined and delayed and they insisted that they get a phone call to say it was ok. I had a colleague call them as i was driving then my poor stressed wife was able to check in
I have stayed at this hotel several times at this point, and its location is great for Bourbon Streer fun, but the rooms I have stayed in have not been spectacular by any means. I have actually stayed in cheaper hotels that are a lot nicer. The best thing about this hotel other than its location has always been its friendly and helpful staff( i.e. Parking attendants and baggage area). I gave it 3 stars simply because the rooms leave a lot to be desired ( microwave, refrigerator, and decor).
Awful, room was originally clean. Toilet didn't work. Was moved to another room, fire alarm goes off, took stairs from the 11th floor and the receptionists couldn't or wouldn't explain what happened, what we should do. Valet, took 1 hour before getting auto which made us late for dinner.
A great location and one of the better places to stay in New Orleans. We possibly had one of the best visits this year and Crown Plaza was a major part of that. The rooms are newly remodeled and spacious. The hotel bar is part of The Bourbon House and we just ordered from the bar without the wait. Our waitress, I believe was Amber and she provided the best service we have experienced in New Orleans. Keep up the great synergy!
Make sure you look the "part" so you won't get ignored by valet.
Nice hotel; great location; they managed an early check in for us
Sounds, music and noise from the streets is what you can expect. It is part of the charm of living so close to Bourbon Street. But garbage trucks between 3 and 5 AM every morning? No good enough! Despite the earplugs, sleep was impossible. Never going back!
Ritzy place w nice restaurant downstairs. Don't expect healthy food. Good water pressure in the shower. Respect
Booked a reservation at this hotel and unfortunately had to cancel. Cancelled online over 2 weeks before the reservation and received confirmation. Later realized that the hotel never issued a refund, called customer service and was told that the reservation was non refundable and apparently it was in the fine print of the Terms and Conditions. Asked if they could reinstate the room and I was told the reservation had already been cancelled.
Amazing hotel, location and views, truly a NOLA experience!
Not a very good time. Hotel walls are paper thin. YOU CAN HEAR EVERYTHING!! I MEAN EVERYTHING! When we first got there one of the guests on our floor said stuff got stolen from their room. Fire alarm went off more then once. Had to leave building twice. Will be back to New Orleans. Just not this hotel!! Pool was nice!
Great hotel. Very clean and rooms are modern with a big tv. Area surrounding was rowdy at night but was not noticeable when you're in the room. Really good hotel.
Helpful staff. Knowledgeable about surrounding area and took time to share that knowledge.
Man horrible. Beds are hard and was told it was two queens when I booked. It was actually two tins no trash bags in the, checking in was a nightmare. What 4 star hotel doesn t have a fridge. There is not a four star hotel by any means.
Service bad, rooms are old, bed too hard...only great thing is location. Not 4 star hotel.
Always a great place to stay while in New Orleans. The staff is always helpful and polite.
Great place to stay, right in the midst of everything. It was awesome!!
Very nice. Fantastic location. If coming during events, make sure to book way ahead. The door men are so nice and helpful, even when there s craziness going on.
Location is great, clean nice frendly staff, Parking is a problem you have to pay $50 a night for parking
Clean, beautiful and literally in the center of everything.
the hotel was very lovely and i enjoyed every minute of it the staff was nice as well.
Southern charm at it's best. Right on Bourbon Street. Good Security. Old touches of marble and tile with a blend of the new. Secure parking facility available. Lots of attractions in walking distances. Tours available.
Great location, rooms are really nice, and the front desk could most of the time help with anything.
Great location on bourbon street, beds and pillows uncomfortable. Nice room otherwise
The hotel was very nice and clean on the inside. The hotel staff was also very professional and courteous.
A bit dated, but location, location, location. Sits on the corner of Canal and Bourbon. The railcar to rest of New Orleans right out front.
The location, the staff, and the hotel itself is truly amazing!!!
Rooms are nice. Parking is a nightmare. Over an hour to valet car. Over an hour to get the car. Still got charged 50$ per day parking. Ours was comped but was a huge pain. Management was professional and handled it well considering
Location is great. Rented two rooms for our group. One smelled horribly of smoke so we requested another. Received a room promptly and were only charged $50 for second room. Appeared clean. Bathrooms on the small side.
We chose to stay here because it was close to the action and I m a pumping mama. The location is great and as the lobby is very appealing. The room is overall decent but the problems we had made the hotel less desirable. The first day we arrived we saw a huge cockroach staring us in the face that apparently came from a small crack in the wall. The housekeeper, who didn t speak any English, walked into our room two days in a row! She didn t even knock! The first day we were already heading out on the town but the second day I was laying in bed naked. That is unacceptable. Room service also was out of an item that we wanted which i guess I could understand since we call 40 minutes before closing. Overall, I would have to contemplate on staying here again.
We always have a great experience when we stay at the Astor Crowne Plaza. The location is perfect for our trips to NOLA! And the staff (from check-in to check-out) is always friendly and helpful.
Location is great and staff is superb. Beds are hard, noisy and seems to be wrapped in some plastic material (?) We were upgraded twice but never accepted the rooms as the beds were the same, and we were staying just one more night.
Huge red, sticky stains on the carpet in the room, that we didn t notice before after we turned down the other rooms, because we thought the carpet was supposed to be red/grey.
Glad we only stayed two nights. Would not come back.
I had read mixed reviews before booking at Crown Plaza New Orleans so upon arrival I went in with mediocre expectations. I was pleasantly surprised though. Our room was large with a city view, beds were extremely comfortable, and bathroom was very clean and well stocked with linens and toiletries. There was an in-house restaurant and bar, while although a little pricey, had amazing NOLA cuisine. The only negative comment was the noise level from the street (Mardi Gras parades and revelers). The room provided ear plugs but they didn't really help.
Clean rooms, friendly staff. Nice size rooms and suites.
Clean, spacious rooms, polite staff, beautiful lobby. The showers seem to reduce to a trickle at peak morning hours.
The staff were very efficient with check in and from our room it was quiet even with Bourbon St festivities going on.
Location is good, you can visit French quarters easily but valet service is not good
Horrible service. The worst I've ever experienced. We booked connecting rooms. Someone even called us that morning to confirm our connecting rooms. Go to check in and get to our rooms and they are across the hall from each other. When we go back down to the desk, they tell us they sold out of connecting rooms and that is the best they could do for us. There was a couple on front of us who had to change rooms 4 times because there was a problem. My TV didn't work properly. The beds were hard. The rooms were big and spacious though.
Nicely renovated and now has better air conditioning. Clean with great linens.
Very Disappointing, given one star as you have to put something, but in reality i would give it none
Apparently many of the post are not familiar with what the French Quarter/CBD is... There are bums and homeless on the streets. Get over it. Just ignore them and they won't bother you. It's no different than any other big city like Chicago, San Francisco, New York etc. My experience at the hotel was nice. The housekeeping left extra coffee. The bellman carried up our bags. Called for the vallet 40 mins before we checked out and the car was outside waiting. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance. Before you go the French Quarter just be aware of what you are getting into. Its not for the clean and dainty.
This hotel is iconically located on Canal and conveniently situated near Bourbon Street. Clean rooms and staff is friendly. I prefer an ice box for air conditioning. If you do
An old and amazing hotel I highly recommend the Crown plaza New Orleans to stay in because of its great customer service and it's fantastic design.
Perfect for catching most of the parades during Madri Gras as many float by on opposite side of street. You will have to walk to the next block to catch the others. Also good for lodging if you don't want to stay 'on' Bourbon Street. You avoid the crowds but can walk to the corner where Bourbon begins.
This Hotel is amazing, very detailed and artsy inside and perfect location for everything in New Orleans
-1 $50 dollar parking permit per day, that was mentioned on their website, never.
-1 Thin walls, heard the neighbors all night.
-1 Over an inch gap at bottom of the room's door, zero privacy from hallway too.
-1 Beds are the squeekiest and uncomfortable all the hotels AND MOTEL
beds I've ever slept on. Pull out couches are more comfortable.
Appear to be 4 star right when you walk in, but is far from 4 star quality.
Almost forgot...
+1 The one star they even got was because the staff is very nice, but NEVER AGAIN!
Recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter location and enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful hotel with clean rooms. Right in the heart of Canal St so everything we wanted to do was walking distance. They thought we wouldn't be able to get an early check in and then ended up texting me 20 minutes later that they had a room ready for us, so they were very accommodating. Will definitely stay here again.
So close to everything. Beautiful inside. Giant TV giant firm beds. Nice staff. Connecting to a whiskey bar!
Great hotel-close to everything downtown that you want to visit.
Do not waste your money with valet parking. It's insanely expensive, they don't do call down service, and you'll stand outside waiting for your car for at least a half hour. The room is fine, but absolutely do not use valet.
With the hectic pace of Mardi Gras comitments its great to have such a friendly staff to make the experience a memorable one.
They have no morning coffee in the place! Not in your room or down stairs. You have to leave the building and go somewhere else to get coffee.
Pretty cool laid-back atmosphere. Visiting friends but love the setup. Always smells like weed out front though...
This hotel is decent, nothing more than that. It s a good location, but a bit noisy and the staff aren t the best. Not a horrible stay (it is clean and close to the French Quarter) but I would try somewhere else before booking here again.
We made a terrible mistake by staying here. Customer service was horrible. The cleaning staff sprayed bleach on my clothes as well as a friend of mine. Management didn't care, and we spent several hours completing 'incident reports' that conveniently got lost...along with our bleached clothes. We were billed for room service that we did not order, billed twice for parking charges of four rooms (over $800) and their own staff admitted that they made a mistake...but yet, still no refund on the parking. The electronic keys magically all stopped working so we were locked out of the room for several hours. One disaster after another--do yourself a favor, stay anywhere but here. I hear sleeping on Bourbon street is nicer.
Nice staff, clean rooms, and they were very accommodating when our plans changed last minute and we couldn't check in our first night.
Great location. Courteous staff. The rooms are nice and the beds are fantastic!
Staff seemed overwhelmed. I was there for a conference and of five nights and four days stayed, they only cleaned the room twice. Staff were nice and location was good.
