Crowne Plaza Marlow Reviews

We recently had a one night stay with our two children; not our first visit at this hotel and won't be our last. Excellent breakfast, attentive staff (apart from the maid who declined our request for an extra packet of biscuits) and great spa facilities. Being a loyalty member allowed us to check out at 2pm, lovely touch.

Beautiful rooms and location. Stunning lake at the back attracting wildlife. Food is excellent there (room service sandwich and buffet breakfast) however service at the bar was at times a little slow!

Probably the best hotel in Marlow. Better than the Compleat Angler which is full of old fuddy-duddies thinking Britain is still an empire and although the new Travelodge has opened that is already very pricey and with poor service. Here you get access to a really good pool and gym, sauna, steam room, hot tub etc. Good room service when they answer the phone. Rooms are decent size and usually quiet, unless some naughty guests staying. Service isn't great however and the location is far out of town. Good if you have a car though perhaps.

Warm welcome and comfortable room! Loved the use of gym/pool. Breakfast also very nice. Only element that fell below my expectation was dinner that I felt was a bit lacking in the touches- like having a salad or vegetables to go with steak. That said the service was excellent.

Just got home from a fantastic spa day, enjoyed every minute and the massage was amazing! Afternoon tea was super yummy but just couldn't eat it all, will definitely return soon.

Awful food. Apparently 'Indian'...I could have cooked it better at home. Waste of my hard earned money Called to complain of an upset stomach, no one called me back. Won't be going back ...!!

Our stay here was some what mediocre. Very similar to other reviews. The hotel seems to be trying to upgrade itself from its existing theme. You get a modern bathroom in an old room with several modern pieces attempting to take your eye off the old two piece beds and derelict furniture.

Our room had been cleaned however, no one had stayed in the room for at least a month because we could write our initials almost anywhere with the layer of dust. This caused major problems when trying to sleep with the dated air conditioning circulating it around the room. On the plus side, the room was very big and spacious and extremely quiet at night.

We had the same issues with the spa when trying to book our treatments. We attempted this several times over the phone which resulted in mixed appointments and timings. We only really managed to book our treatments correctly when we arrived.

The breakfast is standard with plenty to eat. Lunch and bar foods are very filling. Dinner from the set menu looked very good but was dry and cold. We later ordered room service from their selected menu which was 5 stars.

The hotel staff are on point and very helpful.

Overall a nice place to relax. Walks around the lakes are peaceful.

Lovely hotel with very friendly staff.
Stayed here with a legoland deal. So glad we did. Lovely welcome for us and the kids. Activity packs for them both and staff who engaged with them and made them feel very special.
Room was lovely and the beds were comfy.
Great sleep then a lovely breakfast with lots of choice and replenished regularly.
Didn't get chance to use the pool and wish we'd have been able to stay an extra night.
Would definitely visit again

Tried 3 times to book afternoon tea for a party of 12. Each time my details were taken and each time I was told someone would ring me back, still no-one rang me back. I took my custom elsewhere.

Great location, prices are as expected but overall great experience

I've been a member at the Quad Club health and fitness centre for years now and have always enjoyed and rated the facilities there. I've frequented the Agua bar for business lunches, hired the creative space for a meeting, and also stayed for a dinner, bed, and breakfast package with my family. Everything I've experienced at the Crowne Plaza Marlow has been great quality.

Second time we have stayed here checking in was a nightmare not enough staff on duty and one was a trainee .Nice hotel but very over priced considering its in the middle of an industrial estate .Bar ran out of beer can you believe that and the following night bar ran out of prosecco this place has gone seriously down hill avoid you can get cheaper and better nearby

Everything was just a not quite right. From the passable restaurant food, the bad lighting both in the rooms (suite) and in thebathroom, to the non functional phone system, where the extensions were not correct, and had to always be put through reception. I could list more. Needless to say was ok to stay at, just wasn't up to scratch. It needs a once over by that hotel Inspector

Terrible staff. Very rude and not helpful at all. Not customer oriented. Hotel management needs to upscale staff training and teach them how to talk and behave with customers.

The pool was nice and the restaurant staff are lovely, the accommodation itself is a bit old and tired. I wouldn't stay there for a holiday, only for work.

Good place for a meeting, coffee and lunch. Attentive staff. Looked like a decent high teas with lake views.

Although it looks like a building owned by credit and dormitories, Marlow is also the best option you can find in this way.

Stayed there New Year s Eve too an hour and half waiting in the que too check in went to the bar too order food staff told me I had too order room service as they weren t serving food at the bar couldn t give a reason then went too my room around 9/30 as I have a little boy with too give he had too have his sleeping tablets ADhD thentryed ringing room service no answer or reception didn t answer ended up falling asleep the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night went rushed down stairs waited for an hour my little boy saw a man running with blood on his face he was left histerical then I was up for the rest of the night with my little boy crying the staff are very rude and the duty manager will never stay there again it was like a nightmare

Nice rural local, excellent walking trails along the river Thames.

The hotel was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful and great food. A fabulous place to stay

My husband and I went to use the spa facilities. They were very good, clean and the treatments were excellent. Nice swimming pool and steam room and also was not too busy. We ate in the bar, the food was good but the bar could have done with a touch up, it was a bit dusty and the windows could do.with a clean. Overall though a very good experience and would recommend the spa facilities.

4 star hotel, unfortunately it is professional only two star. In particular, the restaurant staff is not very competent.

This hotel had the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The mattress & cushions were amazing, had to check the labels for brand to buy The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful.

After reading various reviews on various sites it would seem that many, many of your customers have experienced the same appalling treatment that we suffered. Your condescending and rude replies (rather than try and make the situation better or .. I don t know, apologise?) Shows exactly what type of hotel this is. Absolutely shameful!

Just returned from a 2 night stay and everything was perfect the room, staff, breakfast, dinner, cocktails and all reasonably priced. Pool and jacuzzi were nice and not too busy. Massages were good but recommend booking weeks in advance. Had an amazing time, this hotel is much nicer than The Compleat Angler which is 4 times the price per night

Was not impressed. Food was terrible. And the service even worse.

It's a long time since I have stayed in a Crown Plaza hotel. Glad to see that it has maintained its high standards of accommodation and service. Great pool, gym, location, grounds, and breakfast. Friendly helpful and professional staff. Highly recommended

I had called about my wedding next year and spoke to a member of staff who had absolutely no business acumen and was not at all interested in the fact I was a potential customer for a WEDDING (hello?)

Will not be visiting or calling there in the future.

Great hotel with nice little restaurant and lots of facilities!

Stayed over Christmas - just bed & no breakfast. Staff helpful, friendly and efficient. We had a couple of problems with keycards - the system was not working properly. This was sorted out with the minimum of fuss - thank you very much.

Had a lovely mini break at the Crowne plaza. The rooms where lovely and clean and luxury..the staff were really nice and helpful particularly the french man on reception. Enjoyed the swimming and jacuzzi and had a lovely massage. Took a trip into Marlow town the shops are lovely and lots of boutiques great for ladies for shopping and very picturesque. We Will be returning in the future. I have stayed in Marlow before at the complete angler hotel which was terrible and overpriced. Defo go for the Crowne plaza.

Me and my partner just returned from an amazing holiday weekend staying at the Crowne Plaza Marlow hotel! After a very warm welcome from the reception and staff we got into an amazing room! The recent renovation is obvious and the room is very luxurious! It had a lot of amenities such as a very big TV, great WiFi signal, a full fridge and most importantly spotless clean bathroom and bed sheets! Remarkably all the staff members wore masks and plenty of sanitizers were available! Such an important detail that made us feel safe! We also loved the food on the restaurant (we only ate there!!).

Lovely setting in lovely town. Staff excellent. Restaurant prices very high. If booking helsth club treatments we were told they need 2 months advance notice but hotel highly commended.

One night break with dinner and breakfast in a king size room. Lovely warm welcome. Friendly staff. Great food and a calm, relaxing stay.The room was modern and clean. They are very covid aware and I felt we were safe and well looked after. I find it hard to fault this place and will return again.

Had a wonderful visit here. The food was excellent and the recent refit looked good. Staff very polite and helpful. Overall a nice evening out.

DOWNSIDE:
One night the hotel did not have hot water and I was left to have a cold bath and had to go to reception three times in order to get an update.
The breakfast was a super rip-off where it advertised a number of items available on the menu but when I went to the breakfast bar on the morning, it had very limited choices and was not offered to be compensated despite having had a cold bath the night before - very poor customer experience. It would have been a 8/10 but this brought it down to 6, only because the rooms were comfortable.

OVERALL:

Nice place, great staff, food is okay and rooms are acceptable.

Attended for a conference. Staff very attentive and the buffet lunch provided was amazing!

We stayed here for a couple of nights and had a decent stay.

The location is amazing, right on the river front. The staff was courteous and helpful. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast spread was good. They charge you less if you book breakfast atleast 1 day in advance, as compared to if you book it the same day.

However the rooms felt really dated and the furniture had a lot of scratches and scuff marks. Worst still, when we took a stroll to the river front, it was littered with animal droppings, which seemingly hasn't been cleared for days.

Great social distancing rules and the staff couldn't have helped more. They were all very helpful and went out of there way to help. We now have some amazing memories of our stay and hope to return soon. Thank you all.

Fire alarm went off twice at 2.30am, and noisy guests woke us at 4am.

Shower leaked on bathroom floor when showering
Most staff members didnt know what they were doing, very unorganised.
Overpriced for what it is, our bill was wrong over charged for drinks.

Ordering a drink the evening my wife waited 25 mins just to get served a few people pushed the que.

Great spa day. Only reason not giving 5 stars is that afternoon tea took ages to be served.

We just went for the spa. Steamer and sauna did not work and massage was less than 15 minutes when it was advertised as 25 minutes.

Very friendly staff straight from arrival. All the facilities you could want: pool, spa, bar, restaurant.
A few niggles to make things a 5. The room though very nice was tired, taps had water damage, leather chair wearing away. The sound in the bar was off to the TV and the pool was ever so slightly grotty.

All in all a very nice stay and would recommend, though a revamp of a few things needed in the future

New Years Eve 2017 was reminiscent of a scene from the wild west. Members from the management sat around chatting whilst broken glass bottles were adorning the lifts and floors and guests were fighting - putting people in danger ! The fire alarm went off on two occasions in the middle of the night causing two evacuations! Many guests checked out in the middle of the night as they felt justifiably unsafe. The pool area and hot tub were rendered unusable due to the wild west theme continuing in that area. In essence it was a complete and utter DISGRACE!

+ Lovely outlook across grounds from the bar and restaurant.
+ Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

- Key card kept resetting itself.
- Queue for checkout was too long.
- Our ground floor room had a pathway directly outside the window where people regularly walked past. Proved noisy at times and no privacy if window was open.

Overall a pleasant stay, but you are paying for the location of being in Marlow, rather than the quality of hotel itself.

Extremely disappointing stay. Tried to feedback to the hotel they were not interested. Was looking forward to an overnight stay with spa treatments they were understaffed and had no availability. The bar area was full of children in the evening so could not have a peaceful drink. Because it was a kids party there was slow service in the restaurant they also took away half of the menu. I complained with regards to my evening meal (I did not eat it but was billed). All in all would not recommend to anyone looking to have a romantic restful night away.

Very helpful, polite and friendly staff. Facilities are excellent. enjoyed the inclusive use of a swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. There is also a gym available free but didn't use it.

Hotel was in shambles power kept going off

Bar was closed, small area in the front lobby served warm beer. Service was slow, but the people were very helpful. The swimming pool had a leak in the roof and was pouring in to large buckets. The biggest issue was the power kept going off on my room, the first time i went off at 9am wasn't turned on until 3pm. Then again shortly afterwards. The second day the power turned off again multiple times in my room, once while I was in the shower. I was finally told they were doing power tests, which would turn off my power and no one would reset it. What a horrible customer experience! This review was posted to crown plaza site but they blocked this same review due to it containing "sensitive" content. Sure!

Visited the bar for a meeting. Souless, dull and empty. So much more could be made of this place!

Poor service
Waited 20 minutes for a round of drinks to be served and then not even nuts available on the hotel bar. Food was an hour wait

Had afternoon tea here nice atmosphere shame the scone was hard. Cakes and sandwiches were lovely.

I have stayed here before and it's always been very nice, however on the last occasion our stay was marred by a bizarre payment policy. Despite my room being prepaid, I was refused entry unless I showed the card on which the room was booked. Not having the card (as it was prepaid for by my girlfriend) I was informed that the only way I could gain entry was to pay the full amount again, which would be refunded within two days. Essentially I had to pay twice to gain entry to my room. I did not receive a full refund of the original payment until 7 days later.

For anyone looking to book at the Crowne Plaza my advice would be to make sure you have the exact card used to prepay for the room. Otherwise they won't let you in without paying the full amount again.

A ridiculous policy that marred an otherwise pleasant stay.

I swim here quit often and find the change rooms and pool are cleaner than this time last year. The change rooms need upgrading but I think they have plans for this. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

But for the waiter at the restaurant and the girls at the gym, the staff was not very friendly.
Rooms are quite old and not very good iluminated.
The card to open the door failed every single day. I had to try several times, by the third time I managed to open the door but some days I had to go back to reception to have it fixed.
My pillowcases had stains, all four of them! I complained and they did not replace them.
The plastic lid that seals the shower glass door fell off. I let them know and no one fixed it. Futhermore, they left it exactly where I left it, in the bathtub. Are they hoping for it to fix itself? I'm wondering if the next guest is going to find it there...
You will find bathrobes in your room's closet. Old very reused frayed bathrobes. You will also find complimentary water bottles.
The menu at the restaurant has not many options. I think the waiter read my mind and handed me the bar menu also. I really appreciated that because I was staying for a week and by the second day I was already bored with the restaurant menu.
Breakfast is not their forte. IMHO, best thing about the UK is bakery. The bakery at the hotel was dry and tasteless. You can specifically ask for some other things like pancakes if you don't like anything you see.
The gym is quite good. Has cardio machines, TRX, dumbbells and weight training machines.

Absolutely fantastic hotel, great surrounding, brilliant service and excellent food. Highly recommended you visit this hotel.
