Beautiful and well planned resort but well past its used by date. Felt like we got gouged at every turn be that the $30 ferry ride even though we were full paying guests to the $25 burger consisting of a heated frozen meat pattie. Horribly under staffed by staff who don't want to be there. No information about what was open and what facilities were in the resort. No porter service even though the rooms could be over 1km away from reception (500m in our case) Could be great with a little bit of investment and a new management company. I would not recomend to others.

Purchased our weekend away and was so excited have not been away for jonks... the ferry across was ok staff no personality but that was ok too. Reception was great very friendly staff and our room was ready straight away..bonus!! Lovely outlook onto the marina but if this was Deluxe then I am the Queen of England. I asked reception what the difference was with their standard rooms and Deluxe..I was told the Deluxe rooms were recently refurbished and modernised...Well not ours mate..furniture was dated, carpets worn and stained, could not figure out how they made the bed up, got myself so tangled up, pillows were hard and thin so uncomfortable. Got a bit chilly so looked for a blanket found one and that was so old with stains on it too. :( Little kitchenette was so basic, there was no pot so landed up boiling our hot dogs in a glass jug in the microwave. Cutlery draw was dirty and the coffee cups stained, a little bit of man power and I got them clean to use..sigh!! Bathroom looked amazing until you noticed the mold in the shower. Blah! I was so disappointed with the sport facilities I honestly thought I was on the movie set of Jurassic Park, any minute now the T-Rex was going to pop out and devour us. Everything is so run down, they should not be advertising their recreation facilities as it is awful. The bikes are old but man I thought worth it, I loved the cycling around the place, my highlight of the weekend.

The surf club was amazing food was sensational although a bit expensive but hey where is it cheap now days. Chef and staff were very friendly, two man band was fun and the outlook to the beach was world class..we certainly have the most amazing beaches. Poolside cafe, carvery was outstanding and here too the staff and Chef were so friendly, I found it wonderful.

This place has so much potential, it could be a little oasis and a real draw card for tourist and locals. I honestly think that Clive Palmer should put his Dinosaurs into the rain forest here, with actual sound, that would be a thrill. fix up the sporting facilities, make the sprint track a hit with a sliding board of Hussein Bolt and perhaps Cathy Freeman, that when you run, this board with their photo of them slides across as if you were competing against them. Jack up the interiors of the cabins and units..put a Mashie Golf course in there, a little putting green next to where they park their golf carts. Grounds man to sort out the rain forest and I tell you this will be a world class resort. There are so many units and cabins on this island, knock half off of your prices put bums on beds and you will start getting the people in. Good luck to the new owners, personally I think you have a little hidden gem here that could be a charmer.

Can't even get in touch with this place. Have been trying since 23 September. No one answers phone. Emails are rubbish. Just want to confirm booking. Have ended up calling Booking.com to complain. I've paid for ferries etc. Not prepared to take risk and get there to no booking with a child in toe. Booking. Com couldn't even get in touch with them this morning. .

Great place for a winter escape. There was hardly anyone there so we pretty much had the resort to ourselves. The eco cabins are well equipped and warm and cosy.
There was a lot of activities to keep us all busy and entertained for the 3 days.
I'd go back for a quick weekend away.
Beautiful sunsets and the sand dunes were fun.

First day, catching the ferry from Marina Mirage, ...

First day, catching the ferry from Marina Mirage, the boat take around 15 people, it is quite old. The captain of the boat was consistently checking his phone not looking where he was going. The water was bumpy and it felt very unsecure.
Rooms were dirty, water was milky and muddy from the tap (you can not cook or drink with it), shower does not drain so it floods.
Room had three air conditioners, but they would not turn on. Asked reception 3 times to have a look at it and was consistently told that it was fixed. Later on, manager on duty came at around 8 pm letting us know there is a problem with the electricity on the unit and asked us to move.
In the new room, microwave and the power points on one side of unit were not working.
We wanted to buy water as the tap water was not even suitable for shower. we needed some water to drink. The general store at the island only sells, tiny bottle for ridiculous price and the staff told us to buy from the restaurant in which they only sell Italian spring water for $8 per 750ml bottle. We spent over $50 just on water.
They lend bikes for people. We got to the bike place after all the dramas with the reception, room and water and was told that their operating hours are officially finished so they won't be able to lend you the bikes. The staffs were just chatting between themselves.
Went to breakfast buffet the next day, plates were so filthy, it had body hairs on the plates. It almost looks like the plates have been sitting in storage dust for a month then just been taken out.
The Swimming lap pool is very nice but wait until you get in and look under the water, it is like the pool has not been cleaned for at least about a week with so many bits and pieces on the floor.
They have inflatable playground at the pond, the pond is somehow very green.
We booked our Ferry on Sunday at 9:30 am to come back to the mainland to attend other appointments. We got to the reception to check out at 9 am after waking up early and making sure all things are packed up and rooms are cleaned (they charge $50 if you do not wash your dishes and empty all the rubbishes). Then was told that Ferry is now scheduled to 10:30 am.
We complained about how it was never notified to the guests who were booked for a ferry at 9:30 am. The receptionist was rather arrogant and said e-mail was sent about the change.
We have gone through all the e-mails and we did not receive any e-mails.
When we check out, the reception charged surcharge for Saturday stay and also ferry back to the mainland. Apparently, they let you come free on the way to island, but you need to pay when you go back. Irony. Later on, we found out that, adults were included in the free ferry but they charged by mistake(?).
The island is great however, the resort is terribly operated and not maintained well. I hope I never went. It ruined our family weekend get away.

Upon disembarking off the boat, we were quite impressed & wished we booked another night's stay. Hiring bikes is a must to explore & conveniently get to the beaches & activities (bike racks are everywhere), & there is plenty of paid & free things to do from shuffleboard, virtual driving range, tennis, & kayaking, etc. Our apartment was roomy enough for 4 people with a generous bathroom space, & it was far enough to offer some privacy yet close enough to the resort that you didnt have to travel far to take advantage of their services. Be warned that there was a lot of large mosquitoes when you are in/close to the bushes when biking towards the surf beach or the private cabins, & you have to pay to get off the island (i got the impression the fare to the island included the return as well), but all in all it was a great time to be had.

Such a good place to stay especially with kids. The marina is laid out nicely and there s heaps of nice boats to look at. The staff are really chilled and nothing really phases them, which is refreshing in this day and age. We had a slight issue with our bed linen which was rectified by the staff with no hassles. Thanks for a good weekend.

Enjoyable holiday just the resort was bit run down however rooms were neat and clean. Awesome pool for the kids and they loved the fish and ducks swimming under the balcony of our room. Drinks were expensive but meals were reasonable.

We booked a long weekend away at Couran Cove to be able to enjoy long days out on our jet skis. Before booking I inquired about if there was jet ski docks for us to safety park the skis when not in use and told they did have jet ski docks available.
After we booked we received a brief email about the ferry times and restaurant hours.

When we arrived at Couran Cove on the Thursday 5pm to check in we found the place deserted. Lucky there were a group of people walking by when I asked if they knew where reception was. They grabbed a manager who was looking less than professional in a track suit. He found our key card and had me fill out paper work then sent me on my way. When I asked about jet ski docks for parking he said they only had two spaces and they were taken, we would have to tie up in the marina, something we weren t prepared for and didn t want our skis scratched up with the tide coming and going.
Lucky we stayed in a water view studio and had shore access and were able to tie our skis up and be mindful of the tide for when we wanted to go out as they were beached at low tide.

Once we arrived in our room we found empty chip bags behind the curtains and no tv remote.
We decided to get lunch at the pool side bar, the only restaurant open for lunch and dinner. We ordered chicken wings and chips and they were deep fried to a crisp. Very disappointing that we had to seek out every meal off the resort.
The property itself was very neglected, after biking around we found a mini golf and sports ground, and trails. The boardwalk at the surf beach was collapsing with no signs of repair. At reception we were not offered a map of the resort or any sort of information of what activities were available except for the initial email about ferry and dinning times.

The advertisement for this place is good it has it looking like a amazing luxury get away on south straddie but I would never pay that money again. It would ve been amazing 10 years ago.

The place is ok, but in dire need for updates. The gym is broken, the tennis courts dilapidated, the put put out of order, the bins are overflowing, the beer costs 10 dollars, there is no food other than chips and tuna to buy.
If you rent a house there will be no oil, salt or pepper in the house. So while there is a kitchen you can t cook unless you bring everything... oh wait... there is a weight restriction on the ferry of 20 kg per person.
We had to go back to the main land to shop for food. You won t get rice, spaghetti, meat, sauces etc on the island at all.

Biggest waste of money on a holiday ever! we recen...

Biggest waste of money on a holiday ever! we recently went to couran cove at which we planned to stay for 3 nights, however ended up leaving after one night due to the resorts lack of resources, messy appearance and rude/unhelpful staff. when we arrived at the cove, we found no shops open, much to our surprise as this was never mentioned on any of their booking sites that they close all their shops during certain times of the day. the activities look/are abandoned. literally no-one at the day spa. the sign tells you to call this extension number & Make a reservation, however they don't provide phone's in the rooms? Activites such as bushwalk etc that are advertised on their website are blacked out on their park map when you get there as they don't have them/they're no longer open. there is nothing really supplied in the rooms either. no information booklets on activities/things to do, 1 towel each. 1 face washer, for 2 people? 1 roll of toilet paper. if you need more supplies you would have to walk all the way back to the main office (not a short walk depending on where you are staying) no real blanket, empty fridge, with no mini bar contents, t.v. didn't work properly, cooking appliances not able to be used because they were so old and crooked. the general store (when it was open) didn't stock essentials such as milk or bread. Pretty much their entire menu has signs over it saying they don't sell anymore.. such as milk shakes etc, they had heaps of packet meals you could make, but didn't supply the basic ingredients to actually make them. the restaurant (when it was open) had overpriced food, which is of poor quality. the park itself is in bad condition, with a lot of debris on pathways/footpaths and just looked like it had been abandoned.

when approaching the manager and staff with my concerns the first time, they were quite dismissive. was asked by the manager "Well what else did you expect?" And he even an made comments such as "you need to understand it's harder for us to get supplies over here" like that's my problem?.. I advised we wouldn't be staying and would like our other 2 nights reimburse to which he told me to contact agoda (I booked through them, even though I paid the money directly to the resort) anyway I did this and they said they were waiting on him to reply to give the go ahead to reimburse us. Went to reception just before leaving and the manager/staff were avoiding me, eventually got served and the manager "couldn't recall" our conversation from earlier today... anyway we left as we didn't want to waste anymore time there to 2 days later get an email from agoda saying that couran cove are unwilling to reimburse the cost of the other 2 nights. So definitely don't recommend!

It's an amazing location and the water view apartments are great. Love the inland beach bar but unfortunately ocean side bar is closed. For the most part the negative reviews seem to be people who are expecting resort facilities. Bring everything you need and you'll have a great and relaxing time. Don't rely upon the restaurant and shop (that runs out of everthing). They seem to be struggling to get staff at the moment.

I really enjoyed staying here. I stayed in a studio. It was a huge room with marina views. Bath, kitchenette, dual vanity, and just really tastefull. The marina berth is great value at only $20 as well!

If you are looking for peace and serenity you will find it here. Or you could easily get active with many activities offered here as well...But i just relaxed and strolled around and ate.

What a wonderful island resort. The accommodation is basic but functional and clean. A very layed back, family oriented environment. Wonderful facilities and lots of activities to keep everyone occupied.
The food is fairly simple, but delicious. No portentous menus and pompous fair to be found.
The "train ride" to the other side of the island is fun and leads to white sandy beaches and a surf club.
The ferry ride over to the island was fast, fun and well priced.
Although the booking process was tedious, the stay at the resort was memorable and one I will love to repeat again.

We had a Groupon voucher for a day trip there!
We had about 30 minutes Couran Cove resort ferry to reach there & we had v nice time riding bikes, kayaking, playing VR games.& beach volleyball.
The food at the bar was overpriced Compared to the portions and below average.
Poor menu with v limited options My husband ordered wagyu beef came with no side for $24 just plain small peice of meat on a dish with no sauce salad or a side . I would Suggest that the food menu has to be upgraded and the quality of the food to be considered.

Good facility, terrible management. I had to ask 4 times for a cot, and then it was delivered unassembled with no pillow. The carpet in the room was horrid. Wifi and my TV (as in not even free to air) was working and there was no ETA on fixing it. No discount offered for lack of wifi (which was an issue an an international traveller with no local sim card and a kid) or TV. I was only given two towels. The room was not serviced/ cleaned during the stay Everything is extra, from use of a BBQ to towels for the pool. Even the ferry is extra, which leaves me a bad taste in my mouth as it shouldn't be a nasty surprise. The food was OK but service well below standards. Many times I asked for something it never came. I appreciate it must be hard to hire and keep people out there but there are serious issues with overall management. However the facility itself is great.... just a pity they can't meet the same service standards of a 2 star motel in the outback.

An amazing lunch time experience for day trippers in the area! Delicious food and exceptional service by professional restaurant staff!
Our group enjoyed the freshest, tastiest and most generous buckets of prawns (we ordered 3 buckets in total expecting small portions). Complemented by seared barramundi, pan fried Brussel sprouts and a great selection of wines, this meal is now on the most memorable list of our Australian adventure.
A worthwhile stop during your next boating adventure north of South Port!

Arrived at 10am to check in as in a bridal party for a wedding at 2pm. No-one could get into the thier rooms thill 4pm....... we had to get changed in tbe public toilets. When telling tbe staff about how upset we where they just said they will take it onboard with a smirk on thier face. Not even an apology. We left the island early as the staff where just glaring at us and made us feel uncomfortable.
Our last stay we went 3 days without hot water. And they refused to come and check it till the same hour we were leaving. Still not as much as an apology. Staff attitude is nothing short of putrid.

Relaxing and quiet place to get away with relaxing self-service activities. When I was there, the kayaking equipment were free to hire. The beach was very relaxing, relaxing views, I loved the frequent buggy rides. Needed more work on the souvenir store, there weren't many choices. I did appreciate that I could bring my own food and drinks.

Ill start with a positive - the Staff on the whole were great.
What was not great was the fact I had gone over for my birthday and there was nothing to eat for dinner! The restaurant was booked out for a private function which in itself sounds like a real money grab on a Saturday night when they had so many guests. Then it was off to the pool 'cafe' which was completely full with nowhere to even sit. But we had to eat so we waited in the Que to order. We waited for over an hour then asked if our food was coming, we were told it was so waited another 20 minutes than gave up and went to bed hungry. So we had paid for dinner we didn't even get! Happy Birthday!
I told the staff the next day who were very apologetic and assured me a Manager would call, of course this never eventuated.

Arrived here and was not given the room that we booked and ask for. The room we were given smelled like cigarettes, and had dead ants throughout. We were given 3 complimentary bikes which were not only rusted and covered in spiders and webs, the tires were flat and unusable. We then asked for another room, had to wait 4 hours. we were given the same room except they had sprayed it with so much glen20 it was suffocating and had to turned the aircon on to try and dissipate the smell. Also, 80% of the staff are rude and completely unhelpful and everything is overpriced. Wouldn t recommend. Only saving grace is that we were given a refund.

My husband and I literally just returned from our long weekend here. The staff are super nice and helpful. The actual resort was poorly maintained and rather rundown. The main fun was the extras we did including the jetskiing and the sand buggy tour. The rooms weren't serviced which is fine, just wished we were told this prior to Booking. The restaurant was awesome, but obviously a bit on the higher end so if you are wanting more of a low key dinner you haven't got many options. With the other more relaxed restaurant being open very limited days and closed without notice due to functions. I highly recommend packing your own food and cooking some nights as there aren't many choices on the menu either especially if you aren't a massive meat eater.

Good:

Good:
1. Nice place for short-term gate away.
2. Cool villages to cycle around.
3. A sport ground with gym facilities and huge chess board for adults and a playground for kids.
4. Water activities ( paddle, kayaking and water fighting) for adult and kids.
5. Food is average... 1 restaurant in the resort OR walk along the beach to Tipplers license cafe. (About I hour walk)
6.Outfitting for the room is refurnished, new aircon, new light, super bright shower room with bathtub and outdoor lounge with water view.

Bad:
1.Cycling in the resort and village areas are easy. But difficult to cycle on sandy path to tipplers cafe. We abandoned bikes on half way, and walked to tipplers.
2. Few areas still need to be maintained and repaired.

**Too relax to take photos of the resort. Haha

Don't go to Couran Cove

Don't go to Couran Cove

The resort doesn't do the simple sum of working out how many people are checking out each day and how many people they can take home on the ferry. We simply were unable to get off the island. There were about 20 people in the same situation. The resort was of no help and simply hands out business cards for a private water taxi service and leaves it to people to organise it for themselves. Cost for the water taxi is $90 one way but the resort doesn't pay any of it or give a refund for the ferry which you have to pay for when going to the island even if you cant fit on going home. The water taxi also doesn't take you back to where your car is parked so you have to get an uber from Sanctuary Cove back to Hope Island. Totally unacceptable.

Also, price for staying at resort is plus, plus, plus. Room cost doesn't include ferry to the island which is half the cost of the room, doesn't include parking at the ferry, doesn't include bikes which you need to get around the place. None of this is evident when booking the room. Your money is best spent adding up all the additional costs and staying somewhere much nicer on the mainland.

The eco house we stayed in was unfortunately very dirty..cutlery and plastic cups were all oily..not washed. And only provided with a couple of small useless sachets of substandard dishwashing liquid. Floors were sticky and dirty..only a small broom provided so I could even clean properly..lots of cobwebs that have been there long enough to collect dust..many lights didn't work either. Food poor, especially for the kids..highly processed and no salad in sight. On the up side..super quiet location..a must to hire bikes so you can explore..free hire sporting facilities..SUPs etc..nice to spend time with family..Just needs to be fully updated with better food choices and cleaned.

Since the change in management, the restaurant and the surf club has really picked its game up in regard to food and service. There must be a new chef in Marlin Bar because the quality of food has improved dramatically and the breakfast buffet on a Sunday is much better, the food is a lot fresher now. I had dinner the last two Saturdays, and I was lucky enough to be served by the most lovely Irish gentleman I think his name was Tim or Tom, but he was there both times and he said he was new, but he seemed to know exactly what he was doing, the other staff looked like they were struggling to keep up with him as he was so efficient, attentive and seemed to know a lot about the food and drinks, he knew a lot about cocktails and beer in particular. I also saw him briefly the following morning while he was off duty, and he was just as friendly off the clock as he was while he was actually on the clock, he even helped me and my partner with our bags as my partner had a bad knee. Very impressed with the changes I am seeing at the resort, good work team - keep it up and look forward to coming again very soon! Thanks especially to Tom and the lovely young lady in reception who checked me in, she was very helpful.

Would be good if the barbeque was supplied and didn't have to pay for portacot with the rediculus price to stay here. Everything is tired and needs attention. Love the setting. Place looks a little bit tired and a bit odd with unkempt running track, mini golf etc. Maybe part of a later upgrade.

Food choice's poor, especially for vegetarians. Only one dedicated menu item at poolside Bar and bistro (which was good). No vegetarian menu at resort restaurant. When I asked what the vegetarian options were after seeing not a single one on the menu I was told with a laugh that they serve 'plenty of chicken' (??) and when I pressed whether they can make a vegetarian option I was told that I would have to get their early as the chef doesn't like being annoyed with such things once he gets busy. Found this disappointing and backward thinking.

Great free watersports for kids and adults though and such a beautiful setting.
