My dad has been at RHRC since November 2018, he started on the rehab hall and was then moved to the long term side. It was a huge adjustment for my dad and myself when we were told he needed to be on there long term. The physical therapy department is awesome, my dad refused to get out of bed when he first arrived. They had him up and walking withing the first week. The doctors were very helpful and answered all my questions and help put my concerns to rest. The nurses are phenomenal and truly care about the residents. The ADON seems to always be there and is a fantastic advocate for the residents, she has addressed every concern I have had and has a true love for the residents. The nurses never hesitate to call me if needed and I appreciate that. My dad was has been able to see a dermatologist and a dentist for new dentures while he has been there. The nurses aides are helpful. My dad can be a complainer at times but he doesn't complain about the food. The cafeteria staff could use a clock (timeliness :-)). Staffing on the weekends could use some improvement which is my reason for the 4 stars and not 5. Overall I am happy that my dad is there because he is close to me so we can visit often and in my absence there are staff members that keep an eye on him.

My father was here during 2015. He was miserable and poorly attended. Security and personal care were deficient. After a week we moved him to Royse City which was wonderful. Hopefully this facility has improved.

I had a family member here a few months ago. COVID-19 made everything extremely challenging and visitation was not allowed on my part. I work in healthcare myself so I completely understood and respected their policies. I cannot thank them enough for the compassion that they showed my family during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My Mother in Law stayed here for rehab after surgery from fracturing her hip. She has dementia which makes her care a little more complex. Every single day her needs/ wants were met to the fullest! We never worried at all that she would be taken care of! She was up and moving around each day to keep her mobile, she was well groomed and always had fresh clothing and bed linens. Her nursing care was always 100% and her surgery site was always well dressed and any issues or concerns were always addressed and taken care of immediately. Her transition home was made extremely easy as home health was set up by the Amazing ADON, Mona. (Among LOTS of other things made easy and taken care of by her) Her therapy team was amazing and she is walking almost completely on her own at home now without any assistance! I highly recommend Rowlett Health and Rehab for anyone needing short term care and would FULLY trust them with anyone in my family even needing long term care! Her nursing team was Christopher, Debra, Sabrina, Michelle. Wound Care- Candy DON-Lydia ADON-Mona. Nurse Aids were Joycelyn, Rosalyn and Judith. All amazing people whom truly care about their patients!

My husband was in this facility for rehab but they did not have the equipment or personnel for rehab. Night & weekend nurses and staff are horrible - weekday is better. Food is served cold and tasteless. I could go on and on with everything that went wrong, but don't have space. I could not get him out of there to another rehab fast enough. PLEASE, PLEASE do not send your loved ones to this facility if you care for them at all.

MUST READ!! And yes I did give this facility 5 stars, please continue to read my review and you will understand why. I read some of the previous reviews which were actually pretty old and they weren't very detailed. People are always more inclined to leave a review of dissatisfaction then complacency because dissatisfaction prompts change. Granted NO FACILITY any where is PERFECT.... but this place has lived up to my expectations and has earned my trust for caring for my father.

I have seen/heard of a lot of nursing facilities level of care by word of mouth from people I have known and from the ones I have seen first hand. My husband worked for a company that managed nursing homes all over Texas so he has physically seen many nursing homes in real life all over.

Moving on, my dad has a lot of needs and his level of care is high. He has a lot of health concerns (as any senior might)..... but he first had such a severe brain bleed/stroke in 2016 that nearly almost killed him. On a severity scale of 30 his stroke was a 26-27, leaving him pretty incapacitated. It caused him to become completely paralyzed on his right side unable to walk or move his right arm. He was unable to communicate and we weren't sure of his level of understanding after his stroke. He has been in 5 facilities, 2 being (2 locations) of the prestigious health south. His recovery would be a long and arduous journey. He went to Health South Richardson for recovery and rehab after he was in the "stable" level. This is where he had an incident with a "feeding tube" placement that introduced a flesh eating bacteria into his gut that sent him into septic shock so quickly he nearly died. The events leading up to this incident are and were unclear and never explained ( which I can see why, can we say LAWSUIT). We were told by the treating hospital that it could have been an issue of him pulling out his feeding tube accidentally and someone not equipped or knowledgable tried to reinsert it back into his gut. This hospital had to put him on immediate dialysis and do a gut removal surgery to try and remove the infected area as flesh eating bacteria can kill you VERY QUICKLY.

I have been an ADON in this bldg for 2 1/2 years, I have seen and worked with many nurses and CNA's over the years, we have multiple people here that I am proud and honored to work with. We have some very caring staff who daily give 100% to take care of these residents. I had my own mother here for rehab, the rehab and nursing team took great care of her and she was able to transition home without any issues.

if I had the resources and knew I could do a better job at taking care of an elderly parent with dementia I suppose leaving a one star review would make me feel better. there's not much to make a person feel good when you have a parent with dementia. all the money in the world couldn't fix a person with a brain disorder such as this. and to be a health-care worker in a facility like this is a job I would not want. how unappreciated someone must feel dealing with the derranged.

The place appears nice but these people really dont care about your loved one. They killed my brother in four months. They caused him a lot of pain, messed around giving him his morphine. It was a sad experience for us as a family to see.

How amazing it is that everything is not always what it seems. As other reviews have stated, this place is nice on the outside but TOTALLY OUT OF CONTROL in the inside. My mother has only been there 24 hours and we are already planning to relocate her quickly. Extremely Poor Staff with a 16 to 1 ratio of nurse to resident. Residents are allowed to enter, sleep and take other resident's belonging with no correction from the staff and the list goes on! Just a terrible place to put your love ones!!!!!! My next letter is to the Higher Authorities and I don't mean Rowlett Health's Superiors either!

I am an Occupational Therapist. I asked one of my Team Leaders(aware of my situation); where would you place a loved one (in area) who is a flight risk? They suggested: Rowlett Health & Rehab; so we went to visit. I Am Very Pleased with Rowlett Health & Rehab: The Nursing Care, Nsg Communication with family and The Safety my loved one is provided.

They steal patients medications and are not qualified to take care of your loved ones. My mom almost died in there because of the worse uti the doctor had ever seen . She was not responsive when I got her to the hospital. Doctor ran a drug screen because the nursing home said they have her hydrocodone for pain but test can't back negative for opoids! But if you love your loved one, DON'T put them on here!

Hate even giving one star. Nurses don't watch patients. Hubby there less that 48 hrs had a seizure the morning then suposly an altercation with another patient and fell from pictures injuries don't add up to falling he got put in a mental health for 3 weeks. And now deemed him as aggressive which is not the case. He is now an hour and a half from me and doing so much better and the nurses and staff at new place is totally awesome

On behalf of Don Zablosfky:
I have watched these nurses and aides take care of their residents. With my wife, when she was having a difficult time, one would stay with her and work with her, then another one would come and take over until they finally got her calmed down. They worked together. It seemed like she was special to them. Sometimes I needed respite, and I felt like she was in good hands. Every time I walked in, people knew who I was and who I was going to see. I thought she got excellent care. I was quite pleased with this complex.

Decent care at a decent facility. The thing I have learned about nursing homes after six years of my mom's battle with dementia and eventual passing is that no matter where you place your loved one or how little or how much you pay for care, you still need to go in and check on them. Frequent, irregular visits will help make sure that your loved one is cared for. Just because a place is fancy (done that) or even if it's home health care in your own home (done that, too) asking questions and staying in touch with caregivers is key.
