They overall helped me get back up on my feet amd get back to a better state of health. However, the front staff are generally disorganized and rude. Case managers are interns who rotate through about every six months or so. Since the doctor I loved left, I'm moving on too. My advice is to educate yourself and advocate for yourself with regards to your conditions. They will not hold your hand here and you will have to fight for your wellbeing.

I went to mhmr when I was 19 and I was having trouble on a day to day basis with being anxious and depressed to a point of drastic changes in my eating and sleeping patterns and my social life. I noticed these changes and and did not like how I felt. I called them and scheduled me for intake to do a screening. I didn't have a job and my last pay stub was about $100 they just diagnosed me with anxiety disorder NOS and depression disorder NOS and said that they couldn't help me and to see a doctor. And since then my symptoms worsened and I've even been having some real dark and scary thoughts that I don't think is at all good. I needed help and I tried to reach out against my own comfortability and was discouraged because I wasn't going to make them money right then and there. It was also discouraging that they told me to go see a doctor and talk about getting prescribed medication even though I can't handle situations like seeing a doctor and I told then this during intake so I would not recommend this place to anyone that has a challenging time functioning in society without an income due to anything, everything, and even nothing putting them down or making them anxious because they will just write you off as an expense give some vague diagnosis say they cant help you give a list of doctor offices and medications and send you on your merry way saying we hope you find some help!

Do not work here if you are licensed and experienc...

Do not work here if you are licensed and experienced. This is the most toxic environment that I've ever worked in of all the years I've worked in the MH field. Most of the staff are Axis II and should be clients themselves. Staff are in clicks as if they are children in middle school. Staff have a "difficult time with change and with new people to their environment" according to upper management and HR. The "team" in certain departments that require a license and experience are NOT experienced and NOT licensed and are diagnosing children and adults! The staff are encouraged and allowed to create a hostile work environment to push people out of their company. It amazes me how abusive, toxic, and hostile this job is...and definitely not worth working for. One of the staff "diagnosing" has a Bachelor's degree and no experience and has no problem going into your office to sabotage your work, and steal your things. The other staff are hostile and will do things like follow you around, stalk and lear at you, spread rumors, gossip, exclude you and are allowed to exclude you from what is going on in your department. They are allowed to send abusive messages, cards, IM's, phone messages with curse words and inappropriate name-calling, because it's "not a legal threat". Their work ethic is poor. They are extremely lazy. Both clinics: Denton and Lewisville have extremely toxic, abusive and hostile clinic staff. They are abusive and will never change. You're better off working in Dallas and taking a chance with the nonprofits there for better pay and better treatment than Denton MHMR!

Helped me drastically! I just had a baby and we didn't have any income or insurance. This place helped me to find the right medication. 3 years later I'm still taking the same medicine and I'm in such an amazing place in my life!

It's better off not visiting this place for your depression imagining rather than getting more depressed after visiting here to see a Psychiatrist.. Does not want to write a prescription for patient's problem even though it is either small or big issue..I have stopped going there now and want to make sure that I can deal with depression on my own...

Absolutely the worst quality of care I have ever received anywhere. They have no clue what they're doing. On multiple visits, the staff would give me instructions and then completely contradict themselves on the next visit. They would give me the run around over and over, and never kept their word. If your mental health is important to you, do not trust it to Denton County MHMR.

Absolutely the lowest human beings on this earth. ...

Absolutely the lowest human beings on this earth. They took my father in and I called immediately to tell them he isn t from here and had no where to go. The young lady I spoke to 2 weeks ago assured me they wouldn t put my dad out on the streets. Well after calling me yesterday at 1 telling me they were kicking him out. I had less than 24 hrs to find somewhere for him to get into treatment. He is now wandering around their parking lot because they kicked him out on the streets. The young lady I have been speaking to since yesterday said the supervisor would call me today. That did not happen. They are full of lies and deceit and will allow you or your family to be homeless. Absolutely horrible place

Do NOT go here if you can help it. They do not care about helping their patients. My husband went here for months and they mistreated him over and over, made fun of him and belittled him when he was there for feeling suicidal!!! After 1 appointment with a different (competent) psychiatrist they were able to correctly diagnose him and get him the real help he needed. This office gave him totally wrong medication for what he needed AND they accused him of stealing and lying when it was the medication not working!!!! HORRIBLE PLACE!!!

Called MHMR looking for a new psychiatrist and instead got 2 cops sent to my apartment!

I have BPD, an illness where I have difficulty regulating emotion. MHMR, a MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCE CENTER, obviously has never dealt with someone with BPD before and had no understanding of my illness or my needs. I called simply to ask if they could provide psychiatric services but was then asked a long series of graphic and deeply-personal questions, through which I was determined a suicide risk. However, the information I provided was related to an incident that had occurred earlier in the week, not at the given time. I WAS FINE WHEN I CALLED. MHMR demanded that they see me immediately and had no respect for my extremely busy schedule. I was given no other option than to be greeted by the two cops who came to my apartment to make sure I was not going to hurt myself. Big Surprise: when they arrived I was fine (still shaken up and angry from talking to MHMR, but FINE). All MHMR could do for me was raise my blood pressure and waste my time.

If you are actively contemplating hurting yourself or someone else, I do believe that MHMR can be a great resource for you or anyone you know.

BUT if you have an ongoing mental illness and are seeking treatment, MHMR is not the place for you. Finding help for a mental illness is a big enough challenge as it is, and MHMR did nothing but piss me off and discourage me from seeking help.

As someone with a complex mental illness, I feel that I was ambushed and taken advantage of by MHMR, and I will never be calling back.

Get ready to constantly be told how much better and well you're doing, when in fact, you are not. They don't listen, been a patient for years and the only progress I've made is getting better at pretending. That's basically all they teach you to do. They won't believe your suicidal until your already attempting suicide. The case workers don't care, their pointless honestly. I feel hopeless as a patient who's only choice is this due to not having insurance.
