4 of us recently booked a dinner at Mercure, Townsville, prior to attending the theatre, so we were on a tight schedule. When we arrived, the place was crammed with guests from 2 wedding parties, who were running behind time, affecting all other users. It is fortunate that you have an excellent restaurant manager, Siobhon. She was brilliant, looked after us personally, made sure we had our meals without delay, provided a complementary bottle of wine & generally did an excellent PR job, ensuring everything went well, despite being under the pump. She deserves a big pat on the back. Hang onto her!

Had dinner with a group of friends. Meals were average. Was expecting home made profiteroles, they were soggy with hardly any custard. Have had better from Woolies. Very disappointing. My Chai latte was tasteless.

I stayed at the Mercure Townsville while I was there for work. I would like to say that the place is absolutely beautiful and anyone who likes being close to nature would love it here.
I would also like to thank Troy (Night Duty Manager - I think) for going over and beyond to accommodate my special request. I walked up to reception one morning and asked if they collected coconuts as I wanted to take one back to Brisbane to plant. Troy who was working in the back somewhere overheard my request and arranged it for me. Thanks Troy!
I will definitely stay here again if I'm back in Townsville.

Long way from advertised 4.5 stars.Booked online and prepaid 4 days or would not have stayed. Rooms very small, only place to sit or watch tv is on the bed. bed was old hard very uncomfortable, creaked every time you sat on it. Bathroom very small no exhast fan or storage space choice of floor or the toilet seat.ended up with a towel on the floor to put things on. Rooms were not that clean, equiptment lamps kettle condiment caddy fridge etc grubby. carpet stained and furnishing generally tired. Daily room service very half hearted, small things, bin didnt get emptied, no fresh soaps or shampoo replacements, glasses not washed or changed. Outside was a different story... but you dont sleep outside. great garden surrounds to sit and relax read. great pool but its right in front of the bar and restaurant, in full view of everyone so didnt use it. Car park is badly lit with lots of takeaways nearby.would I stay again? NO

The Mercure in Townsville has it charm that is hard to describe. The open plan reception is reminiscent of Fiji. Staff are warm and courteous. Rooms are well appointed, sliding mirror doors open to a tidy and clean bathroom. The restaurant and bar are reasonably priced. My waitress had an excellent palette and her advice on what I should order from the food and wine menu was priceless. The pool is inviting and I was told some rooms overlook a lake.

The hotel is well located in the centre of Townsville, close to shops, but set off the road for quiet. Plenty of off street parking. Views over an artificial lake. Restaurant is undergoing refurbishment at present but they have a mobile kitchen doing some nice basics. Rooms are comfortable gettinga bit outdated though. Has all the amenities.

Great location, near the airport and a direct hop to the city. Comfortable and COOL room witha great view (overlooking the lake). Just got out of the pool which was refreshing and beautifully landscaped. Check in was a breeze with friendly service and the buffet breakfast had heaps of variety - I was full before I could try everything!!

Disappointed and it's only our first day of 4 nights here, we wish we'd booked another hotel! Everything is dated, paint is peeling, spa is broken, room service took ages and our TV/remote is temperamental. Was hoping for a lovely getaway at a hotel we could relax at but it definitely doesn't feel like a place that lives up to its rating.

Many thanks to the caring and supportive staff at this hotel. We went down to townsville for a medical operation for one of our kids (we travelled with three kids, aged 5, 3 and 1). When we got there, the hotel had upgraded us to the upper floors, as they were concerned about potential flooding (we were originally booked for the ground floor). They brought up a microwave, bowls etc and cutlery. The hospital rang us, before surgery day, to say all surgeries had been cancelled due to concerns about flood levels during the next two days of large rain amounts. We decided to leave Townsville. The Mecure was very understanding, offered a full refund (we decided to just credit what we paid because we will have to go back again), and didn't even charge us for the afternoon we spent there. Thank you soooooooo much for your understanding and care during this time . We got as far as Ingham for two nights due to flooding, and the locals there were absolutely lovely too.

Had an unexpected stay here last night as our Jetstar flight had been cancelled. Staff were more than attentive, happy, and calming, especially even after the rush of having close to 100 last minute bookings. Ordered room service and the staff member who brought it to my door was lovely. Made a bad day a very pleasant night.

I held a workshop in one of the conference rooms and was so impressed. The service from the staff was fabulous. We booked lunch in the restaurant which was really lovely. We then booked afternoon tea snacks from the bar which were delivered to our conference room to help everyone push through to the end of the workshop.
A really great vibe. I'll be holding future workshops here.
Thank you

Set out is beautiful, but with so many functions on, gets very loud. Couldn't even go out for dinner, due to no parks available.
Room was clean, but small, no spare blankets or toilet brush in bathroom.
Place isn't for us.
