Colonial Gardens Resort / Mercure Resort Townsville Review

All the staff were really helpful and friendly. Room certainly isn't flash, but it's clean and comfortable.

Good location and quiet. Food was really good for choice too!

I liked the restaurant with lovely staff. They showed much more friendliness than reception staff. The staff at check in were nicer than those at check out. The rooms were good but not as good as the photos. The pool and location were excellent. Generally, it is a very good hotel in Townsville and I would recommend it.

Good for weddings, plantation deck is the way to go

A sprawling complex,make sure you have wheeled luggage,Carpark to rooms is a lengthy process.Could do with refilling hand sanitizer at restaurant,2 bottles ~dry!

Over charges considering its located on an ugly and busy road. It's not conveniently located anywhere.

Mecure in is a beautiful place for a wedding, event or conference. Rooms are lovely and the restaurant is great. Pool here is amazing also. Have to come back and celebrate our anniversary sometime.

The Mecure Townsville was good for its rooms, food, service and staff. Good value for money at $167 per night for Queen room. Only negatives is that the price of food in the restaurant was high for what you got and the carpark has giant potholes in it that need to be fixed. Pool was great. Recommended for business trips for sure and I would suggest finding an off premise venue for dinner.

Very friendly, quiet, relaxed atmosphere, and having the lovely possums drop by is an added ahhh..wow

The room was very expensive and the quality poor. It needs a major refurbishment. The curtains were stained, walls scuff marked, pillows hard, bathroom flooded when shower was turned on and was the size of a postage stamp and the hot breakfast was cold.

Nice quiet room with a view of the lake.
Room was as you would expect in a 4 Star hotel, the Hi-light was the bathroom being so spacious which also contain a Spa Bath.
My interaction with the staff was always pleasant.

My friends were staying at this hotel so I visited there and had dinner with them at the hotel restaurant. Unfortunately, we waited almost half an hour for our meals and the staffs were really unkind to us. We felt they were racists and ignored us. The worst thing was that they didn t give us the order properly. It was terrible experience.

The meal service let me down on the most recent visit. Very slow and missed items.
I got a call from the manager to apologize for my dissatisfaction and reimbursed me for meals. Very very happy with the outcome.

Room got a 3.5 star rating. However the staff are super friendly and helpfull. But the real reason the stars went up to 5 is the food at the restaurant was amazing. Well done Mercure.

Attended a wedding here this past Saturday. The venue was gorgeous, the staff cordial and friendly. Would love to return as a guest!

Mercure Townsville is a pleasant resort style hotel. There is a large pool within the gardens. The restaurant offers excellent food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a short 10 to 15 minute drive to central Townsville. Services close by include a shopping centre and petrol stations.

Happy helpful staff. I can recommend the restaurant it is particularly good.

The food at the restaurant was incredible. Compliments to a very talented chef.

As an Accor member and staying in plenty of the Accor chain since joining recently, my wife and I were very impressed with this recently renovated property. If it wasn't recently renovated, you and your staff have kept it very clean and tidy. The amenities and staff were great.

Rooms are a bit dated, the grounds are very well maintained, not within walking distance of much so you will need to hire a car.

Great conference rooms & pool.

We booked in for a couple of nights including last Christmas eve. The bed was worse than any we experienced in 3rd world countries. The mattress cover was all scrunched up and looked like it had been like that for a long time. We requested a different room. Same thing, this time however the manager was with us and saw that. We did not manage to sleep well so christmas was flat for us. We had travelled to Townsville to visit eldery mother and our daughter.
I wrote an email to Simon, the 'executive' in charge of the place but after many weeks have not received a response.
He obviously cares?

Excellent hotel- it has all that you want in Townsville a lovely restaurant with varied menu and a theme every month. breakfast is very generous and nice and varied. rooms are comfortable older design but very functional. bathrooms are not designed particularly well having a shower is quite messy if you like a full on shower and it is very noisy for your neighbours in whatever room you're in;, the pool is uncomfortably looked over by the restaurant patrons... and you have to walk through the same corridor to get to your room in some cases.
Staff could not be for today especially Bobbie in the restaurant in the morning and the reception staff. Rooms are exceptionally clean even for the most fastidious.

This is not a resort. It is a better motel for FIFO or corporate travelers. Friendly staff. Restaurant overpriced. Rooms need makeover. Pathways are dirty.

We went for dinner at the Celsius Restaurant. The food and service was faultless.

Great for a few nights in Townsville. Nice clean room with all amenities you might need. River views and nice pool. Lots of food choices around. Close to Castletown Shopping centre.

Had a beautiful steak meal at the restaurant. Great table service. Thoroughly recommend eating there.

The staff are AMAZING! The gentleman on night shift helped me at 4.30 am when I needed something urgently and was so friendly. The staff cannot do enough to accommodate guests, the food is always amazing and we love the pool. Thank you for another exceptional stay

Had a great time here . We stayed in the deluxe room . Staff are friendly and helpful ,rooms are clean spacious and had a nice view overlooking the lake. Complex is well set out with plenty of space and very close to shopping centre. We will defiantly be staying here again on our next trip to Townsville

Service was excellent, room was recently refurbished. However I would not rate the bed amongst the best in which I have slept.

Adequate rooms and restaurant. Ok for the price I guess. They were helpful enough to start breakfast an hour earlier, but that was for the football people and not our conference faculty.
