Went on Saturday. Fresh produce. Food trucks for a quick bite if you are hungry. Flea market under the car park if you are interested. Prices always best.
Tips: Go there close to 2pm and you can haggle for great price; Park in nearby streets and walk there would likely save you time; Don't forget to bring your own foldable trolley; Ask shop keepers for free box to put your fruits & vegi; Avoid exiting from Potts St - could save your 10~20mins.
the place to be if you like to fight over with everyone to get some food. Too many people walking around with trolley that always runs over your tows. At the end of each day this place is a dump and full of garbage. It is full of forklifts that loves to run you over and toyota camrys with people who cant drive.
Enjoying getting super fresh fruit & vegetable every fortnight for such a reasonable price! Not to mention you have access just across to great reasonable priced flowers too!!!
{ Flower Markets } My family and I had a budget for a wake and funeral and needed to organise flowers for the event at short notice. We spent $200 on flowers and supplies to produce two pedestal bouquets, a large casket bouquet and 2 decorative displays for the food table. We would have had to spend 4 times this amount if we were to go to a conventional florist.
The catch for going wholesale is that you need to be there as early as 5am to get the best stock & cuts, by 7am some of the best picks were gone. By driving in you pay $10 entry at the gate, and drive up a ramp to access public parking for the florist. When entering the wholesale floor you need to wear a high visibility vest, we weren't aware of this before hand and so the 4 of us had to pay $10 each for a vest at the door. For safety reasons, I get the reason behind this but you could always do a sneaky, and swap out a vest with someone to take turns looking through the floor or if you're especially sneaky you can go inside unnoticed. I did notice there were people roaming without a vest.
Best tips is, bring an empty bucket to fill with water and put flowers in as you collect and buy. This keeps the flower hydrated and avoid early wilting. Plan ahead and decide what you want to buy, and walking around and see options before buying so you get the best value for your buck.
Clean market. Good variety fruit and veg. Seafood is fresh and at reasonable prices. Wish they sell tuna belly or tuna wings though - even if we need to pre-order.
Good place to shop fresh veggies and fruits but quite buzzing. It's better if you have a car to pick up. Buying boxes would cost you less. Late hours around 3 is not a good time. 9-10 am will be the best time to shop the fresh one.
If you're not super early, you'll miss out on everything. Fresh vegies, cheap flowers and including parking! The car park isn't very organized because people park their cars where ever they want.
The right place to buy fresh veggies and fruits at competitive prices. However, due to COVID 19, the number of vendors was limited so also the customers. The Sydney Market officials have made all out efforts for the safety of everyone with sanitising and testing the entrants. Kudos.
Huge variety of vegetables at a fraction of supermarket price. Accessibility from train station is an issue. Hard to find lifts that can take you there easily when with strollers.
The 'real' flemington market is only on Saturday. Massive selections of vegies and fruits. Not recommended to go other days. They should have make the one on Saturday to be any other days.
