the new blue room is perfectly cosy and still unknown. but I have doubts about the cheddar color of the so called goat cheese fondue and the texture and not so tasty duck mousse with tiny brioche as bread, the pickles not really fermented. the service and the view was impeccable. the missing link is the single outlet in the room that both employees and patrons have to share. life at the Fairmont is sometimes hilarious.

Pros: Beautiful facility, helpful and very friendly and accomodating staff, beautiful room and accomodations, centrally located. My friend and I enjoyed a spa treatment during our overnight stay- it was completely wonderful!
Cons: A bit pricey. We ate offsite except for a meal on the patio- the food was good, but the service was not up to par. Had to keep hunting for staff for things we needed - but the view and the weather were incredible. Of note, upon returning home, I discovered that I had inadvertently left my cell phone charger behind. When I called the hotel, they were able to locate my cell phone charger and we agreed they would charge my charge card on file for the return. A month later, no cell phone charger. So I called in follow-up and was told by "Joanne" that I'd get a call back, and I did same day. I was assisted by a very helpful/polite "Amadi (sp?)" who advised that I had received misinformation originally. He was able to assist me in sending an e-form for me to provide authorization for the charge (as hotel staff are NOT able to charge to cards on file after the guest has checked out). Live and learn. :)

We enjoyed our overnight stay in this amazingly spacious hotel. The interior is stylishly decorated with contemporary furnishings. We had a nice breakfast at the Meritage restaurant. Our server Hugo was friendly and took care of our needs. The pool area is a nice place to lounge out in warmer weather but we enjoyed the view of San Francisco and the Bay. Enjoyed our stay and will be back.

The hotel is very fancy and luxury. Foods were food looking and delicious with lovely mood. But driving to the hotel, the winding ans narrow road was really crowded and paeking was very horrible too.

I was extremely pleased with how Peter communicated with me about my birthday celebration reservations at The Claremont. My guest and I were treated with the upmost respect and class by all of the staff, especially Pablo and the manager on duty. It was an amazing night that will go down in the history books.

Pool area and hot-tub was open to the public and was full of screaming kids there for swim camp. Health and fitness areas are also open to the public and are insufficient to accommodate both the members and the hotel guests. You will also have to pay a facility fee in addition to your already high hotel rate. Don't go here with any expectation of a peaceful relaxing or quiet time. Rooms very over-priced for size and quality. You basically pay for view and updated bathroom. Service is quite terrible, front desk staff and manager could care less. I've gotten better service at 2 star hotels. Seriously go just for a meal in the restaurant (not bar) with same view of bay for free or to their day spa, also to see historic building but not worth staying here overnight.

Nice place but definitely showing it's age. For some reason my room started smelling of second hand cigarette smoke. Even while the aircon was turned off, seems that cigarette smoke from another room got into mine. I spoke to someone at reception about it, was told they'd take care of it... and never heard back.

We went for a spa treatment.... My sister raved about her lomi lomi massage, and my traditional facial was excellent!! We enjoyed the sauna and whirlpool, and showering with nine showerheads was divine!! The staff was attentive and super nice. I highly recommend it!!

I am picky with my massages. This place did not disappoint. They also have a lovely hot tub/spa that has a great view.

I highly recommend it if you want to treat yourself. Even the bar is lovely.

Thank you Claremont/Fairmont Group for hosting Claremont Canyon Conservancy for it's 15th annual meeting! And for having such a nice selection of goat cheeses and roast vegetables.

I spent the afternoon at the spa for a 50 minute aromatherapy massage. The facilities are great but they're a bit dated and the steam room makes the area hot and muggy. The service was as expected and luxurious.

The high tea was a fantastic experience. Great service, excellent decor, and some of the tastiest food I've ever had. The tea was phenomenal. The price for two was quite high, however, so keep this as a once in a long time occasion.

The Fairmont Claremont. Had not been back to the Claremont since Fairmont took it over. Big changes. We used to love the restaurant-lobby level at the entrance. We also enjoyed the Meritage - which no longer exists. If the young man at the front desk was correct - the restaurant is not open to the public. So for dining, you have choice of a) lobby bar, b.) Limewood ( what?!) or c.) Room service. Our room was very nice... however, in looking out the window at the requested Bay-view, the dastardly black mold on the side of the building (6th floor) it was bad form. Caution we ordered room service- the kale and mushroom pizza had a fabulous crust- charred kale and a tiny sprinkle of mushrooms. $18 before tip. Lovely amenities.

gorgeous location, beautiful building, but the "old world charm" gets old quickly. the rooms are small, the furnishings are old, the tv small, the bathroom dated. the restaurant paragon is great and fairly priced, the high-priced jordan's should only be approached if you can handle the sticker shock.

We enjoyed the most professional service of the housekeeping staff...notable Vanessa Tid Hskar. Vanessa ensured your room was clean and spotless and alway had water, coffee and shampoo. She was attentive accommodating and very professional.

This hotel is great. We had a mix up with our room and they resolved it quickly and without any difficulty. The gym/pool/spa area are amazing, and both restaurants in site are delicious.

This review is for the spa and pool. The spa, what a treat. The facilities are excellent. The staff is helpful, kind and extra pleasant. I had a wonderful massage. I also had the best facial I've ever had here. Do not miss out on their spa experience!!! The pool is also my favorite pool in all of the Bay Area. Palm trees and flowers everywhere. This place is just a real jewel. While they do validate parking, unfortunately if there is no self park left, you will have to pay for valet. Pool cafe seems to be under construction, a bit confusing getting food poolside.

UPDATE for additional review on the Claremont Kids Club:
When you book a spa appointment, it includes 2-3 hrs of complimentary child care at their kids club- what a perk! So if you can indulge at the spa, but have no childcare, no worries! The Claremont has you covered. I was greeted by an energetic group and went over a few basics for my 1 yr old with the staff at the kids club. They were attentive and kind. My 1 yr old did great and when I went to pick her up, the team offered to put her down for a nap. While I politely declined, I thought it was a nice perk that she could take a nap there should I have have wanted to enjoy the premises more. Overall, the Claremont delivers. Again.

Live locally, came for facial over the weekend as hard to book with smaller spas with days notice. While a tad more than a non hotel spa...loved it and totally worth it. Parking a breeze. Nice jacuzzie, steam and sauna to use before or after your treatment. Pool access available (I'll be back in summer for SURE). Esthetician Myrene was super in service and education.

I was soooo shocked when I entered!
They ruined everything!
Took ALL the history out of the Inn aside from the exterior.

The view, service, food and Wait Staff were WONDERFUL however.

I waited 25 years to go to the gorgeous Claremont Inn - we live in SoCal.

But I was disheartened and a bit shocked upon entering the lobby and lounge.
Have you no respect for the history and craftsmanship the property deserved to keep?

Have they never been to Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego/Chateau Lake Louise in Banff/ Chateau Marmont or Hotel Roosevelt in LA, or the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Is? Or a hundred other beautiful original, preserved & updated properties?
I fully expected that kind of tasteful, historic grandeur.

The decor was a shocking dichotomy. The attempt at modernizing with mismatched, trendy? hipster? decor comes off as cold and uninviting.

You got "took" by the design company, and you've ruined an historic hotel.

So sad.

The people were fantastic, and the accommodations were acceptable. Food at restaurant was average at best. I had the burger for dinner and it was average, but considering the cost it should have been much higher quality. I had the signature breakfast for breakfast. There were very few potatoes and a soft English muffin. Eggs were cooked correctly. small portion of about 2 oz of sausage was very disappointing. I would not suggest you eat at their restaurant. Consider going across the street to one of the local restaurants. Verify your room. Our reservation confirmation said it was a king, but we received a queen. if I were alone I would have been fine, but with the smaller bed it was difficult to sleep even though the bed was comfortable.

in general, I am back in Berkeley in October and will be looking for alternatives.

I m giving a one-star rating because I booked a Junior King Suite and was oringinally given the wrong information regarding the package I booked. I was informed the room would come with a $200 credit, so my aunt could book a massage, if desired. This room was booked for my Aunt and Uncle, to celebrate my Aunts birthday. I confirmed with staff multiple times that my aunt and uncle would be able to go down to breakfast until 11:30am. I confirmed this bc my uncle is a late sleeper and I knew they would have a late breakfast. My aunt informed me that upon arriving to the Limewood restaurant for breakfast, they were turned away and informed they could only have a breakfast to-go box. My aunt believes she was discriminated against because they were still people eating breakfast and some even saw her being turned away and just watched. She felt humiliated, embarrassed and furthermore the Hostess was rude to my aunt, as if she should have already known the times for breakfast.
Upon being contacted by the property management I was informed that breakfast ends early but guests can still get a breakfast box until 11:30am. This was not originally communicated to us, none of the times we confirmed breakfast with the staff upon checking in. Furthermore, we had just left The Dead Fish and my aunt requested to have a fridge brought to her room. They told her there was a fridge in her room already and seemed irritated when she told them all the food wouldn t fit in the mini-bar fridge because if it s contents. The fridge that was brought to the room was very small and very loud. My uncle was upset about the noise but didn t call down because my aunt had already said the staff was upset about the request for the fridge. All in all, the reservation was about $675.00. As someone who has worked in hospitality I feel that more could ve been done to accommodate my aunt and in a better fashion, given the money being spent! This was a special occasion ruined. I selected this hotel because of its history and great reviews, despite some critics but had I known my aunt and uncle would have the experience they did, I would ve sent them elsewhere. My aunt is sincerely hurt by the way she was treated and I m just disappointed because I wanted to come visit myself, after I saw the room and the views but now I don t!

My parents spent there honeymoon there 1943 and simply loved it. We took my mom back about 25 years ago, and it was so sweet to see remember how much fun they had when they were there. I wish my father could have been alive to see it also. It would have made it that much more special. The next time I come to San Francisco l will stay there, as I am "San Francisco Born". Its a special place...Try it out on your next trip... Maybe l will see you there.
Bye for now! Barbara Sensintaffar
