The Claremont Cluband Spa offers a Spectacular View of Bay area and City. Outdoor eating areas and unique tastes in the restaurant are special. Accomodations are high-end.
The CCS was recommended to me by locals we had met in Kensington. Parking fees can be elevated so if you stay for meal, have the concierge validate your parking fee.
traveling around in San Francisco can be a logistical nightmare so make sure you have a current map running in unnecessary GPS if you are driving here which I did. If you want to see San Francisco properly, rent a car. If you're interested in going to places like the Golden Gate Bridge, NW, The Presidio/GGB SW, Lombard Street, Fisherman's Wharf, you will need to drive a rental or have deep pockets for Cab.
My stay at the Claremont Club and Spa was really nice we were working a wedding. And we happen to stay overnight since we got off very late. The bed had a full mattress on top of the mattress itself which was really nice. The entire venue was renovated so it looked extra nice. The service is really good too instead of calling it room service was called Royal Service which is funny. I would definitely stay there again.
Phenomenal service at the restaurant, amazing food as well
Their Sunday brunch is delicious. If you avoid Mother's Day, it is not too crowded nor very noisy.
Nice place to stay. Remember that parking is an additional $30 or more per day.
Great partner in hosting annual fundraiser for Hillcrest (K-8).
Beautiful view. Well crafted drinks and snacks. Went for tea hours.
I was expecting much better service. If your looking for a non engaging service then this is the place for you. The smell in the hallway on my floor killed me. I am shocked I had to ask for water daily. I am 100% sure not coming here again. The spa was okay and the jacuzzi can use an upgrade.
Lovely hotel and view of the bay
Top notch experience
I surprised my husband with a stay at the Claremont for his 50th birthday. I wouldn t be writing this but considering it was a big birthday and he deserves to be treated well. Keep in mind we ve stayed at many historical hotels in the past for example the Peabody, Del Coronado and the broadmoor Hotel. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed because the beds were very uncomfortable, there was a very loud noise outside our window and door through out the night. We couldn t pin point it but it was very disturbing, house keeping failed to bring additional item and waiting for over a hour I had to called them a second time. The club house is under construction and inconvenient. This place isn t for relaxation at all, somewhat misleading. The restaurant food was average and the staff wasn t very friendly and can use some training. I also shared my concerns with the front desk girl but it was quickly acknowledged with an apology but by her actions my concerns weren t important enough to request for a manager. That s unfortunate, I do appreciate the architecture and how the hotel has been maintained, very pretty hotel. Thanks for reading. I hope your hotel stay is a positive experience.
Wen hair for my birthday to the spa. Was quite unimpressed as this place has not been upgraded in Forever... Not to clean... And a little run down to be quite honest. I sat in the nice big hot tub and there's grout missing tiles popping out and dust all over in the corners and on the sides. Does anybody clean this? It made me wonder how safe the water was and kind of gross me out to be quite honest. I'm a little shocked that the Claremont hasn't put time energy or money into the spa section for the men at least... Because nothing has changed in years. Might be time to do some spring cleaning their people.
Other then the wacky extreme liberals at the club it is 5 stars
This place has everything. Tom was really nice. Bed was comfortable. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I was told that we would get a text letting us know are room was ready but we never got the text.
The place is pleasant to stay at and makes you feel rich.
Classy, posh robes, comfortable beds, marble shower,a lot of detail goes into the room. Just to make you feel like staying another night. Staff are very attentive to your needs. The bay views from the room are just beautiful.
This place has great views from either bar area. The service is good, the drinks are a little pricey. I've heard the hotel is haunted and actually had a friendly encounter with what I believe was a spirit or ghost.
This was one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in, I was lucky to have booked a suite with a view and it was a brand new renovated room. It was in the "tower" of the hotel and had views on all 3 sides, gorgeous room. The downside are the taxes and fees they add on, each night had an extra $90 fee with everything they add. No clear description on the pool and jacuzzi location so was walking around aimlessly for a bit around the tennis courts. Overall the room was amazing but pay attention to the extra fees.
My room was on the floor, fairly quiet with a nice view of the city. The microwave and fridge were great.
This club reminds me of community, service and hospitality every day I visit.
And I try not to miss a day if I am able to.
My best place to rejuvenate before dinner at home.
The restaurant service was fantastic. The French toast was the best I've ever tasted.
Classic. Romantic. Historic. Great for families. Fantastic restaurants. Singularly great spa and pool facilities.
The building is really grand and luxurious, as are the rooms. I only visited a friend here but I would love to stay overnight some time and use the spa facilities. The friend I visited was getting ready for her wedding here and doing a pre-ceremony photo shoot. The hotel made a beautiful backdrop and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great service all around from the host to the spa. A+++
Nice and secluded up on a hill outside of Berkeley. The hotel is very nice and the service is excellent. Rooms are not that big but very comfortable. It's a good place to relax and get away from the city.
Very disappointed with slow service. Not a lot of clients at the restaurant. And not a good experience for the money.
Nice rooms. Spa use used to be included. Now a whole lot extra..
The rooms were fantastic, the service was amazing, and they went out of their way to make sure we all had an enjoyable experience. I would stay there for non business reasons in a heartbeat!
What a classic hotel and just a fantastic location. Perfect when you fly in with Norwegian Air non-stop to OAK from OSL/ARN/CPH/LGW/CDG/BCN/FCO.
The only reason that I can not put a 5star is the dining is so expensive, however very enjoyable. Staff is excellent and the restraints and bats are very good. A very special person was Sean Morgan, a good man and a great manager.
We've enjoyed going to the Claremont for many years and it had been our hotel of choice in the San Francisco Bay Area. But no longer, not after the awful reservation experience we had this time.
I reserved through Expedia as part of a longer trip through Northern California. About 10 minutes after making the reservation I noticed my departure date from the Claremont was wrong, so I canceled and redid the reservation. Too late: by the time I noticed it would charge me a full night's stay as penalty it had gone through.
My wife called the reservations desk at the Claremont twice to sort this out. Both times they insisted that this was an Expedia charge, not theirs. The second time the reservations manager, calling himself "Anthony", asked who she had talked to before and then claimed no one by that name worked in reservations.
A week later my wife wrote a letter to the general manager of the Claremont and they canceled the charge, saying they would make an exception to their policy of charging one night penalty for cancelations. So it was not Expedia then, as TWO Claremont reservations agents claimed!
We're grateful for the cancellation of the penalty charge but this will NEVER excuse the rude and dishonest manner multiple members of the Claremont reservation staff treated my wife over the phone.
Once there, we had more disappointments: the beautiful breakfast and dining room overlooking the Bay is now reserved for conferences and not open to individual guests of the hotel. We had our ($40/person) breakfast in a smaller room with poor views instead. Other nice public rooms overlooking the Bay are now also closed to individual guests.
And guest checkout time is 10am, fine if one is attending a conference but obviously inconvenient for any individual guests like us, who have been coming to the Claremont for years but never will again.
An elegant old building, but beware! If the front desk assigns you to a Spa garden room - 700 through 716?18? - the rooms are directly under the Meritage restaurant and you are "treated" to crashes, thumps, bangs and clatters for a good part of the evening/night and then early morning. The front desk clerk said as we checked out and complained, "Oh, didn't they tell you?" But, no "they" didn't.
For the price of the room including the $30/per day parking fee, you might have a better time at the Ritz Carlton in the City or almost anywhere else.
Delicious food and unforgettable view of Bay and SF.
I only dropped someone off but the hotel looked nice
Enjoyed the bar where we had excellent cocktails and a light dinner with a gorgeous view.
Amazing hotel and spa, and perfect for large corporate events! Looking forward to spending a few days working on an event in two months!
