We had such a great day here. Getting there early can simplify parking. The lot gets full and you end up getting bussed in from South gate. When you enter the zoo go to the right so you don't miss out feeding the giraffes. It was 5.00 to feed them. It's quite an experience. It's also worth checking the feeding schedules. We watched the lions being fed just a couple feet in front of us. It was amazing.

first time here and probably would have rated higher but some issues cropped up with registering (and I gave some leeway due to COVID in that respect) and then getting locked in the park by 520p. I understand the buildings close at 5p so if I'm at the top of the park.. give me time to trek back down.. just saying. other than those things the park was vast and the animals looked healthy and interactive. will think hard about revisiting.

I've never seen a zoo like this. It's built into the mountainside! Such a fun walk through the different exhibits at each level. The grizzlies and mountain lions playing in the snow were my favorite. The whole zoo was a pretty sight when it was frozen. The only downside is that most of the animals were in doors, and the rooms stunk. But, it was neat getting a close up encounter with the giraffes.

Out of all the zoos I have been to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is by far the very best. I love the set up of the zoo and you really can get pretty close to the animals. This a great place to visit with or without kids. We go on a regular basis to enjoy the zoo. You will not be disappointed.

I've been to CMZ every year since moving to Denver in 2006. I am never disappointed to make the drive. I've been to many zoos and so have my kids. This is the only one they ask to see again and again. The giraffes, the birds where they have seed sticks for $1 - priceless for the kids, and once they had baby wallabies in their arms and as children approached they explained all about them over and over with great patience. About eight years ago they added a natural Colorado habitat with moose, puma, wolves, rams, etc. It's such a lovely place. Lots of walking. A few places to take a break. A nice gift shop. Best zoo ever.

Really awesome zoo and a fun place to take the family for a day. There is a bit of construction going on at the moment, but it is to make even better enclosures for other animals. Great staff and a great place!

This is my favorite zoo! We visited this time for the electric safari which is their version of the zoo lights. We were still able to see some of the animals in the indoor exhibits and as always, feeding the giraffes was the best part! Lots of good photo opportunities and they re so fun to feed. It s only $3 for a handful of lettuce or $5 for two so it s a fun time without having to spend a ton of money. Masks required indoors but not outdoors unless you re within 6ft of another party

This is by far one of the best zoos we have been to!! It is so interactive and not to mention super beautiful! We got to feed giraffes, play with chickens and goats, watch lions get fed, watch a baby orangutan jump all over its mom and so much more! We love this zoo and if we lived in this area we would actually consider getting a membership here! I also love their dedication to teaching the public on how we can be doing our part to save the animals/environment. Thanks!

Pretty decent zoo with beautiful views. Staff are friendly. Prices are rediculous! Especially feeding the giraffe & elephants. 10.00 for a piece of lettuce & carrot is such a rip off. 3.00/5.00 for 2 pieces of lettuce is just as bad. I saw so many kids wanting to feed but parents couldn't afford.

We had a great experience at the zoo! This has been the most interactive zoo I've been to. There are quite a few animals that are free roaming so you can see them up close. They also have a lot of opportunities to feed different animals. Feeding the giraffes was by far my favorite. We did it twice because it was so cool.

Very large Zoo with big spaces for all the animals. Some of them you can see pretty up close, which is an amazing experience.
Lots of species, starting from little frogs and snakes to Grizzly bears ., from chickens and goats to tigers and elephants.
You can get good exercise there, cause it's a lot of walking, usually up the mountain. But you'll have a chance for small breaks with benches, snack places, restrooms, water refill stations.
Always a great experience - whether you try to see...
Always a great experience - whether you try to see it all, or you just choose to focus on one exhibit/region. Their "Boo at the Zoo" events, along with "Electric Safari" and adult date nights give some variety for zoo visitors.
Surprisingly, this zoo is not supported by taxpayer money, but through donations and business profits from the day-to-day operation. I'm afraid the recent attempts to upgrade facilities reflect the careful cost considerations, and sometimes result in smaller scale projects than originally hoped.
For example, the new penguin and hippopotamus display is open and it is not what I expected. We are so happy for their return, but the penguins are in such a small area with a smaller view that the exhibit has built in markers outside the building and down the walk for the inevitable lines to get in to the building to see them. I can appreciate that we want to see them, but they may not wish to be seen, but there is nothing advising people to that hiding places are intentional so they will leave them alone and move on either.
If you plan to visit, wear good shoes or buy a trolley pass, bring water, sunscreen and a jacket, and make a day of it. The Sky Ride costs extra, but it's an excellent way to relax and see the zoo and city from the air. For animal safety: no straws allowed, no outside food allowed.
When you visit be kind to the creatures the zoo is working to help protect and conserve. And make sure others are too - it's never too early for children to learn kindness and respect!

Always a blast to go to . Kids has so much fun for the light safari . Plenty of heaters around to warm up under . Staff as always was kind and could answer any questions the kids could come up with . While its a limited amount of people aloud in the wait is worth the experience . Defently recommend purchasing tickets on line to insure you can get in . Again cause limiting number of people / capacity .

So sad. All of the animal's exhibits were under sized and over populated. They have giraffes out in 34 degree weather so that tourist can shove lettuce in there faces. So inhumane. African lions shivering in the cold. Whoever thought this was a good idea to keep African animals in a very cold environment is down right evil.

This is one of my favorite places to visit with my kids. It's a long drive for us, so we stay in the area so that we don't have to rush through the day at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The Zoo has done a great job of making it interesting, interactive and engaging for everyone who visits. For an extra few dollars you can take the chair lift to the top for a view over Colorado Springs.

Awesome place to spend a few hours. Feeding the giraffes is a must especially if you have kids. Food and souvenirs are over priced but that's to be expected at a zoo. You can bring in your own food in and there are tons of tables and sitting areas to eat. Pony rides for kids and petting zoo area with goats and chickens and plenty of hand sanitizer everywhere. I've never had a bad time here with my own family now or when I went here as a kid.

Absolutely the best zoo I have ever been too. You can feed the budgie's, giraffes, rhino, and elephants. It's up the mountain so a light incline but very nice and wonderful views mixed with a wide variety of animals. Check the website to see what animals you can feed for the day. No need to think twice before going, you will make great memories with your beloved ones. $20 per adult for the zoo fees and if you like to take the Sky Ride it's another $4 per adult. To see everything in one day you probably will need 3-5 hours. There is a coffee shop and a pizza place and a gift shop.

Worth coming to for the giraffe exhibit alone. We arrived late in the day, so we missed most of the other animal training and feeding times, but would love to come back and do a whole day. Bring walking shoes, a wagon or stroller and lots of water, since it s built into a mountain, you are walking up or downhill to every exhibit.

I would say it is the nicest zoo in Colorado. Natural habitats and the giraffe enclosure allows interaction with the animals. I also think the grizzly enclosure is one of the coolest I've seen.
