Marco R. Review of Cheyenne Mountain Zoo

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is second to none as far as a Zoo is concerned. The animals are very lively, they actually seem happy and well kept. Of course no animal is happy in captivity, but this Zoo goes above and beyond to accommodate the animals in every way possible. I have never seen an elephant acknowledge the people there. You can interact with Goats, Wallaby, Birds and Giraffe as well.. you can feed them (you pay for the food in most cases, bird food is free) they walk up to you and eat off your hands. The proceeds of the food goes directly to improvements all over the Zoo. All kids love an opportunity to feed the Giraffe.
Some small animals get to walk around freely or with staff. On our last visit we had a Peacock and a Porcupine cross our path. I am very impressed with the overall condition of the animals here since they have space and a perfect environment based on the species.
They have a lift chair (additional fee) to take to the top and get a wonderful view of the Zoo and Colorado Springs. As well as a picking area so bring your own food. They do have a restaurant and drinks available to you if you did not want to carry that wagon of food.
Well worth the family visit and see how great it is.
