I wish there were more vegan options at an Indian restaurant. They do have some items for us. Beware their rice is not vegan. Sub for quinoa. Cool environment and always a crowd pleaser in nashville.

Everything on this menu is amazing. Start with the tandoori chicken poutine and go from there. The lamb vindaloo had a good heat to it which was ALMOST overwhelming but tender af - so good. Also tried the calamari 65 - again, amazing. I've been places where fried calamari was too breaded or tasted rubbery, this was not one of them. The seasoning just put it all the way over the top. Also got the Desi tiffin which came with an ample amount. This particular night was a butter chicken masala with rice, naan, gobi, and daal. Butter chicken was almost sweet and complimented the spice on everything else. Ambience was great as well with projections of old Indian shows and movies playing on the brick walls inside. Service was incredible. 10/10 would go back and recommend to loved ones.

The food was good, but the service was horrible on the day when we stopped by. After my meal, I politely asked the server for water 3 times. The server said OK each time, but never brought it to us. (It was not a busy afternoon, and she spent more time chatting with colleagues and the manager.) We waited forever for dessert. We were polite, friendly and easy-going, but oh my, the servers appeared rude, condescending and eager for us to go, so they could have the place to themselves (they were not closing anytime soon) and not be bothered with difficult questions like, may I please have some water? Not coming back. There are better options.

I really enjoyed having lunch with a friend at Chauhan. The atmosphere was perfect. There was laid back music, comfortable seating in the booth (though the chairs looked hard), lovely decor, and I got to meet Maneet Chauhan. The prices weren't bad for an upscale restaurant, however the portions could have been bigger. I got the Shrimp Tikka Masala, and the shrimp were absolutely delicious, but I only got three. There was a good portion of quinoa, but not enough sauce to enjoy it all. Unfortunately, as much as I enjoyed it, I left still a bit hungry. Oh, and the waitress was really great. When they didn't have a drink on the menu that I liked, she asked me a few questions about my likes, and asked if she could bring me something to try. The drink she brought was wonderful!!!

Their pork belly sandwich was delicious. My husband got the plate that had a variety of Indian food on it and he loved it. I enjoyed my chai Coffee. Our server was kind and helpful and will return.

Indian food meets something very different but sssssooooo good!! The spices where perfect. Everything was full of flavor. I highly suggest getting the chicken Marsala putain, I know I spelled that wrong. It s chicken marsala covered over french fries cooked to perfection, the gravy on it is to die for it makes you so happy to put into your mouth. We also have shared a pot of chai which totally woke us up. Then we shared the meat tally. We couldn t finish our food. It was our anniversary and our waitress who was wonderful bought us a desert. Just so you know they have free valet parking, also a plus. This place is a little bit more pricier so we would save this for special occasions but so worth every bite and every leftover!!

Awesome Indian food. This place has a cool atmosphere, with old movies playing on projectors. If you don't like curries, then stay far away from this place. The smell is amazing from the minute you walk in.

The food is flavorful, rich, and large portions for the money. Make sure you try at least one appetizer. They also have a great cocktail menu. Would certainly go again.

I've been meaning to get here for quite a while, unfortunatly I don't ever "accidentally" end up in this part of town during meal times. I'm glad we finally made it.

Got in a little after noon on a Saturday, light crowd, seated quickly. My wife and daughter were hesitant when i was looking for sharers for the chicken curry poutine, I ordered it anyway. If necessary, i knew i could take one for the team and take it all on myself. When it arrived at the table, it disappeared surprisingly fast.

We also got the chicken and waffles, the burger, and the chicken & coconut curry. All of it was excellent, also portions were very generous, we had to carry some of each home.

Don't forget to bring a little cash to tip the complementary valet service.

Great Indian cuisine in Nashville. The chef has taken lots of liberty inventing combination of different taste pallet. The service is excellent as compared to the crowded place. Reservation is a must especially if you are planning to come during weekends.

This place is fantastic! While noisy and crowded tables, the food and other ambience is excellent! DEFINITELY try the tandoori chicken poutine if you go! That was my favorite of the night and it is an appetizer! Just be prepared to shell out some dough for this quality food. Fantastic place, and I do recommend going if you are able to!
It could ve used a little more spice for those of us who like food spicy, but still flavorful and savory. Umami resonated throughout.

A perfect dining experience! Food, service, atmosphere are all exceptional! We had the pleasure of meeting Maneet as she visited our table and signed her cookbook for us. If you are in Nashville this restaurant is an absolute must!

This was my second visit. The fist was about 4 years ago. What stood out then was how helpful the server was to one (me) who doesn't always enjoy Indian food. The server Monday night could not have been less interested in this even though I pointed it out immediately. His response was "oh I give everyone the same advise on what to order." Therein was the problem. He didn't listen to me. His casual attention all night to a fairly expensive dinner during a holiday week was so very disappointing. To be fair, my husband loved his meal. My daughter was just ok with hers. She was disappointed in the food not the overall experience. I'll probably try one more time when she comes back to town in the summer. If it's no better than this time, that will be our last visit.

I would have given this place 5 stars except for the prices, and slightly lacking in service.

Here's the deal, very cool, trendy, Indian fusion joint. I came for lunch. Ordered the lunch special which included the whole nine yards. Protein, rice, veggie, breads and dessert.
It was very good. Different because it fusion, but really good.
Presentation was just right, portions were good, and full of flavor.
I also ordered the Japa Chai Stout. Wow! Great beer for us stout lovers.
Service was fine. But it wasn't memorable, she did everything right, just wasn't quite there.
And the price. $30 (plus tip) for one beer and lunch for one. Yes, food was good..but this is not a fancy restaurant.
Overall, great place...just wish it wasn't quite so pricey for what you get.

One of my favorite restaurants in Nashville and one of my favorite about Indian restaurants period. They do a great job of recreating traditional Indian dishes in a unique way. One thing I would love to see is more vegetarian options, but regardless I'll be back for more!

I visited Nashville three years ago and wanted to try this place. This time I finally got a chance and this place is a disappointment. This place claims to be fine dining experience with exorbitant prices.
The interiors are good and they have projectors showcasing Indian music videos from golden era.
As for the food we ordered the following:

paneer tikka poutine - one of the best part of our evening. We really enjoyed this appetizer which was unique and different from the regular appetizer options you get at an Indian restaurant. I wish we had just ordered this.

Paneer bhunna - this is was something different but we could only taste tomatoes and black pepper. We were thinking to just stick to basic.

garlic parmesan naan - 0 marks for this one. I think Chef Maneet Chauhan needs to train her staff on how to make a good naan. The naan was soggy and we were pretty much done with this restaurant. If they can't make a garlic naan god knows how well trained the chefs are at this place.

tandoori roti - we didn't bother to eat this one.

This place is a utter disappointment and we will never come back again. Instead of Top 10 best restaurant in Nashville they should fall under Top 10 worst restaurant.

The Gol Guppa Shots appetizer was really good. I miss the sweet sauce that traditionally comes with it. But it did taste sweet, so it was a satisfactory experience. I recommend it! The Kale Pakora Chaat was new for me. It was an interesting experience.

The garlic naan was average. Not worth $5 for four sliced pieces.

We got the Chicken Korma and Chicken Saag. Korma was amazing. Highly recommended. The Saag was pureed, which I personally don't like. This was different from the Saag I've had before. I miss the fried onions.

The place was really noisy but the people were wonderful. The food seemed really expensive. Might be because some food ingredients are authentic.

Overall, I'd recommend the Chicken Korma and Gol Guppa Shots. For me, it was a one+time experience. I wouldn't go back. I really missed my Indian restaurant back home.

We have heard great reviews from trusted sources for an extended period. Our first experience started very poorly (1-star) with the hostess team (dept of first impressions). Multiple hostesses and they still lacked attention to details. Had their been another 5 minutes of inattentiveness, I would have guided our party of four out the door to another room. The volume of activity was not high and the demand for tables was not extraordinary for a Saturday night in Nashville. Once we were seated, we experienced a significant improvement with engaged staff. Knowledgeable, personable and attentive, yet we did get the feeling they were looking to turnover tables, not just ours but everyone s. The mixed drinks were average, actually disappointing, given the in-house made ingredients. The menu guidance was very good and variety was also very good.....not excellent. The flavor was as advertised and refreshingly NOT over the top with absurd experiments. The experience fizzled out by dessert time though and for a cornered market of three rooms, it feels corporate and single threaded sourced. Perhaps our expectations were too high? Perhaps it was an uncharacteristic Saturday night for them? We would try it again and recommend you try it too, just maintain reasonable expectations.

Amazingly beautiful restaurant with the most attentive and attractive manager! Food was good but fell short of the flavor intensity that comes with Indian stews and the proteins. We had the lamb which was tender and juicy but could not match the flavor profiles of the sauces. The drinks were absolutely amazing as well as the service.

Make sure to confirm if the food is spicy or not. They won t tell you or ask which level is okay. I cannot tolerate spicy so had to change the plate and the second item was burned. Asked for a burger and it came all black. No point of saying more.

We made a special trip to visit this restaurant and did not regret it. The service was friendly, attentive, and excellent. The food was tasty. Highly recommend the lamb ribs and the nachos, but if you have eaten tikka masala before, you can skip the poutine. It was very good, but not nearly as special as other available dishes. Glad we could make the stop.

Absolutely delicious food! Me and four of my friends went to this place for lunch. Ordered the cocktails which were awesome. The naan bread basket starter is amazing! We also ordered "Chicken or the egg", Amritsari Kulcha, Pork Belly fried rice. Everything was mind blowing! Ordered the gulab jamun cheesecake which was amazing as well.

If you are in the Nashville area do check it out. It is a really good place!

I have mixed feelings about our dinner here. We decided to go to Chauhan for my birthday because of the great reviews. Let me start with the place it is nice but if feels crowded and the level of noise inside makes it uncomfortable. The waitress was attentive, he was good. Our appetizer, their poutine was amazing and the chai beer was great too. Then it went down the hill I order the 3 sides one protein ( I think that was the name) Wich was lentils, chickpeas rice and chicken, super spicy but not in a good senses the were flavorless, I couldn't finish it. My husband order the seafood bowl which has a similar problem but his was edible. Let me tell you that we are used to spices and that we love Indian food, but this one gives us hard time after that. We felt that we have eaten a bomb that were couldn't process. We have to cancel our reservations for the rest of the week ruining my celebration. In the end they brought me a banana cake with a Candle, which was a nice touch. So as you see I have mix feelings. Maybe Ill go back for the poutine and beer but nothing else.

My wife took me here for my birthday. The atmosphere is great. The staff is helpful. The food is not for me.

The Iandian/Southern fusion thing didn t work for me. I know this is an unpopular thing to say, but the flavors seemed forced. I was excited about trying a new place but I really wish we had went somewhere else.

They keep a full house and a long wait- obviously not everyone shares my opinion. It is my opinion, the chef should stick to authentic Indian cuisine. Nachos is not something I want to find on a menu in an Indian restaurant.

I think the food is pretentious and expensive. I won t be back. There are much tastier and authentic offerings all over town.

Disappointed.

Loved the darker ambience of this place. It's cozy, but felt a bit moody, yet in a good way, if that makes sense.

The eighties music and projected pictures on the wall gave it a quirkiness. The goa drink was fantastic! The lamb nachos were out of this world delicious! Crave worthy! 5 stars for both of those items.

I wasn't impressed with the skirt steak, however. It lacked a unique flavor profile, and I had to add salt for taste. I was expecting my tastebuds to be wowed :/ The naan was great.

I would love to know other items that taste as amazing as the lamb nachos.

Oh, and the service was excellent, which I can't say often.

I don t think I have ever eaten anything better when it comes to Indian fusion food. I wish I was living here so that I could enjoy this food every weekend. Amazing, creative and fun. If there were 10 stars I would give 11. Victoria was very attentive and caring. Couldn t have done a better job. Service was amazing too. Made my Nashville experience most memorable.

Not worth the hype, very limited menu. considering this as an Indian fusion restaurant they hardly had any options for vegetarians. Price of the entrees are very high considering the quantity and quality of the food. I have had better food experience from indian restaurants. I have given two stars just for their selection of drinks. Drinks were great. we kept on re ordering the drinks, even the price was up there, we didn't care, it was worth it. Service was ok, could be better considering they were not busy when we went. Cherry on top is 20% gratuity is included in the bill. which is ok if the food & service is worth but it wasn't for us. won't be returning for sure, maybe for drinks at the bar but not for the food.

HereI go with a 4 star ! Loved the place.. It has a fusion of Indian and American food.. The must try items that I would suggest are Gol gappa shorts, Chicken kabab, Hot chicken pakoras and the Jalebi cake.. They have got really good flavours..
I tried the masala tea as well.. However, felt like it was way too light.. Could have been a lil more strong.. But the masalas in it wad good !
The ambience was great so as the food

Great Indian food, excellent drinks! I could not give it 5 stars, only because the menu is a little limited and it is a little expensive. But it's great for a night out on the town or a nice date.

One of my favorite places in Nashville. My boyfriend was gracious enough to introduce me and I am absolutely in love with it. The tikka masala was to die for and the naan, oh it was delicious. Definitely make a reservation because it's difficult without one! I'll definitely be back for a fix!

Excellent experience! Our waiter was fantastic, he made suggestions and helped us make our decisions. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had the korma with shrimp and it was creamy, slightly sweet and had the lightest hint of spicy. It was perfect! I can't wait to go back!

Amazing Indian Fusion in a classy yet semi-casual atmosphere, with delicious if expensive food that is absolutely worth the cost.

Where do I start? The appetizers I suppose! I highly recommend the starter with different dips and spices. It is so, so good. Get some extra naan to go with it! All of them are amazing, however.

Main dishes? Can't go wrong! The tandoori steak was truly amazing, I will say that. The vindaloo is incredibly spicy, but wow is the flavor great.

Want a drink? They have all sorts of unique stuff. Try their take on a Sazerac! It was amazing. All of the ones we tried were, however.

Dessert? The cheesecake was again unique and delicious. The rest all sounded great as well.

Get reservations, and you won't leave hungry either!
