Everything was absolutely delicious, the best mango lassi i've ever had.
Must try the black-eyed pea croquettes! Love the approach for selecting your own protein+sauce combination. A favorite when I'm in Nashville.
Pretty interesting Indian Fusion. Very novel in house brews. Pretty pricy but it is in the Gulch so is to be expected. Location is a little risky late at night with the crime in Nashville lately.
Very goo Indian food. Nice environment and staff. There is also a valet parking service.
Drinks, appetizers, and desserts were ok, but the GOOD stuff were the entrees. Ordered the Parda Kathal Biryani which has jackfruit and basmati rice infused with intricate spices and vegetables that imparts a pleasant heat. Next time I'm going straight to the entrees.
My wife and I love this restaurant! The tandoori fries were incredible and our entrees where to die for! The fusion of classic Indian meals were not overdone, but perfectly balanced. If in Nashville, we will always try and come here!
Best Indian cuisine we ve ever tried! The place was nice and casual. Our server was awesome! I had lamb vindaloo and omg it was the best and one of most spicy things I ve ever eaten. Overall an awesome place to go to!
The ambiance of this place is excellent! From the moment we walked in, we could tell it was a twist from the typical Indian restaurant. They had a separate vegetarian menu, which is helpful for us maneuvering through other Nashville restaurants' menus full of meat options. We happened to be there with a friend who has some food allergies which just happened to eliminate EVERY item on the menu aside from naan. The staff went out of their way to speak to the chef multiple times to clarify things and the manager even brought out the menu of a neighboring restaurant that had more options for her and served it on plates so we could continue having a wonderful time and service, regardless of the food limitations! The highlight of our night was golgappa shots with tequila! There were a few items on the appetizer menu which I felt weren't thought out quite as well, such as the spice box of the mish-mash of flavors which, honestly, weren't the ideal way to even consume some of those flavors. That was my only issue with our experience.. maybe the flavor fusion was probably more catered to the meat-eaters, leaving the vegetarians with what could be a somewhat lacking cuisine experience for someone looking for more than a typical Indian menu/ restaurant. This being said, I would visit again and try the entrees and just be aware that this is more for ambiance and service than the eclectic cuisine, which was my faulty expectation for this visit.
I am a fan of Indian food and I finally got here for lunch in the old Cafe 123 space.. I had a lovely bowl of chicken tikka masala. The food, decor, and ambience all worked. I will definitely dine here again. Here brunch is reputed to be particularly good.
The lunch menu is ridiculous! My favorite is the Lamb Hamburger and the ketchup for the fries is FANTASTIC!
The food was very good. I really liked the Bollywood movies projected on the brick wall; it is a very cool effect. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of offerings from the brewery co-owned by the owner of this establishment. The beers not offered are the better ones from that brewery.
My wife had the quinoa chicken salad and really liked it. I ordered both the chicken tikki masala and the saag (both with chicken) and naan. The food was very good and I would eat here again. The portions were right and seasoned perfectly. Chef Maneet Chauhan was actually in the building and we had a chance to see her. The service was great. A good overall experience. I would love to see a very spicy hot dish put in the menu.
Loved the ambience, the service and the good . Must try
Actually found both the Korma and Tika to be pretty bland. Very fresh, clean taste but bland. The okra was awesome.
Stopped here while returning from a road trip. Excellent Indian food. Great ambience. We managed to find a spot in-spite of a packed house.
First time here and definitely will be a must everytime I'm in Nashville
I wouldn't go here if your indian and you are seeking indian food. Crappy fusion place that's overrated and overpriced.
Pretty good Indian food.. maybe sauce a bit too liquid, hot sauce could be hotter, but overall pretty good.
Amazing indian fare, the atmosphere is very nice/comfortable. Exposed brick and wood with Bollywood projections playing on the wall. 10/10
Always one of my favorites, we come here for most special occasions. This time we split the tomahawk steak. Perfectly cooked and delicious.
We went with rating and reviews on this place. And, it was a mistake. If I had to redo, I would have ordered pizza online.
We went here on Christmas eve to celebrate our stay in Nashville. Unfortunately, I have mentioned the same to waiter to make it special and memorable. Waiter did make it special and memorable. Hence two stars for the restaurant.
We ordered Paneer Vindaloo and signature dish Chili Paneer Bhurjee Relleno. Waiter was very surprised, When we didn't receive food for 30 mins. We received Naan before our food. He went and checked. Later we received our food very cold, after 45 minutes. Requested waiter to warm up Naan, but received cold again.
Paneer was frozen and cold in Paneer Vindaloo. I remember the very first Paneer dish I made 15 years ago in US, was better than this. At least I knew that Paneer should be defrosted before you add in curry. It should be tender and soft before you serve. At Chauhan's, they just mix same curry with frozen paneer and serve to customers.
Chili Paneer Bhurjee was a "signature" dish. I wouldn't call it a main course as you can see in the reference pictures attached. It was barely an appetizer.
In addition, Waiter was not available when needed as the second allotted table (group of 12) was on the other side of restaurant. Waiter charged us fixed Gratuity of 20% for cold food and poor service. Per Policy, fixed Gratuity is charged for a party of 6 or more, whereas we were just a couple (two people). This place indeed made our first night in Nashville special and memorable.
Not recommend to visit this place. Not a good Indian Cuisine representation.
Tasty fare, great service. Loved it enough to come back the next night!
loved it, don't typically like Indian food, great food.
Probably my fave restaurant. Delicious, consistently high quality. Great experience.
Decor was on point, music was awesome, food was memorable! Def a spot to check out! Kristen our server was just a great.
Excellent Indian food experience in Nashville. I completely recommend!
Best Indian cuisine I have had I long time, would highly recommend this establishment.
Great tasting food but service felt rushed. Hard to get waitress' attention.
Went with my 5 best girlfriends. They sat us for our reservation right away. Customer service over the phone was fantastic as they helped accommodate a change in our reservation. Food was yummy!!! A touch pricey but we had such a great evening , it was worth it:)
Wow, I wish we had this in St. Louis!
An amazing fusion of Indian and and other cultures (think Southern and Mexican).
A beautiful sensory over load in the heart of Nashville. Definitely worth a try if you're a fan of the spices.
Grade A experience! The brunch is different, but in a good way. I can't wait to get back.
The food at Chauhan is DELICIOUS! I got to attend for a wedding rehearsal dinner, so I got to try a diverse selection of items that were served family-style. The salmon I had was beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked and was definitely a stand-out on the menu. For those who like chili fries, there was a chicken masala poutine that was yummy and seemed to be a stand-out for my peers. Ultimately, everything we tried was delicious and the restaurant itself was beautiful and super chill.
Drove down from Atlanta for my birthday dinner and was so disappointed with both food and service! For starters we ordered paneer tikka which was over seasoned. For main course ordered the desi tiffin which at best was average. Ordered an extra bread (tandoori roti) which took 30 minutes to come (of course the food was cold by then) when we asked our server about the bread we had ordered she said oh, it isn t here?! Let me go check and very casually walked to the register punched something in and then went and served other tables without actually going and checking in the kitchen where our tandoori roti was! So disappointed. I had really high hopes from this place.
The place is trash. They served us cold food as they forget our appetizer and sent it to the other table, made us wait like 15 minutes just to pick up our check after they gave us the wrong check. They were really negligent towards us. After we asked for to go containers they gave us the containers without even having a little courtesy to offer a bag which they did for other customers. Guys there are a lot of nice indian places in Nashville but this is not the one you wanna visit. Celebrity chef is just a name but the place is only fancy where they ill treat you after charging you a fortune. I wish google had negative rating I would have gone for that.
Best Appetizer on the Menu. Chicken Tandoori Poutine. Not the same taste any more as Chef has changed. Try not to go on Sunday.
Great food and service. It's down a beaten path and slightly costly although.
Favorite Indian place! Definitely recommend, the vibe is nice and the food is amazing!
Excellent food. Well developed flavors. Lots of attention to detail in the food and atmosphere. Everything I have had there has been delicious.
I would like to give this place a 1/2 star which is not possible, hence the 1 star.
This was the first time I was visiting Nashville, TN and I was very excited to try this restaurant given the name that is associated with this place.
Service
I was fairly surprised on how lousy a restaurants' service can be. We didn't get our plates for at least 15 min after our appetizers had arrived despite asking 3 different servers at various instances.
We had to wait for at least 20 min for the server to process our payment and ended up asking the manager to help out with our payment.
I was quite disappointed as the restaurant was not even that crowded for a Saturday evening.
Quality of Food
The Cheese Naan Knots were the only acceptable part of our order. The Paneer of the Paneer Tikka Kebab and Paneer Tikka Masala was hard and didn't seem fresh. This was not as per the expected quality and the price one would pay to order these dishes. The Garlic Parmesan Naan was rubbery and felt like just Garlic Naan Sprinkled with Parmesan Cheese on top. The Daal of the day didn't make my day as it was sub par and had a lot more salt than one would expect.
We decided not to get dessert as we were unhappy and disappointed with the quality of the food as we were extremely excited to try this place out and this place didn't meet our expectations for the price one would pay.
Beware friends. It's more of a like American Indian restaurant not a normal one you're looking for and it's very expensive too. So I'd suggest to check the menu first before going in.
I had a pleasant experience at this restaurant. I just went there for a takeout order and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Great service. My wife and kid are out of town and I wish to take my wife and kid along next time.
The food is very flavorful, as one would expect from Indian cuisine. The spices are not overwhelming, nor is the food too rich. I was able to take in a 3 course meal and not feel overly stuffed. The place was packed with a mixed crowd (young, old, and all races) and the vibe was very vibrant. Service was prompt, even with a packed house. Dishes were hot and had eastern and western (southern) flair. Must have the tandoori poutine. That was moth watering and truly something unique. I'll be back soon!
Our server was pretty awful, but the food and ambience are amazing
Wow. Some of The best Indian food I've ever had. The Gol Guppa Shots were fun and delicious. The artichoke heart pakoras we're out of this world. The lentils and tikka masala sauce were incredibly flavorful and well spiced but not spicy. The korma sauce was sweet and flavorful. 10/10!!!
In typical Indian terms : Ghatiya khana not at all good taste and way too costly
Indian restaurant situated in Nashville. Reservation based. Good ambience and good food. Like the service. Ordered Stop monkeying around which was more of a desert than appetizer. some veg taco dish and chole kulcha. Food was quite refreshing in taste.
Creatively tasty cuisine and lots of fun, scrumptious dishes to share!
Went on a date night and it was great! They played trendy music, have an eclectic menu, a varied alcohol menu (something for everyone), and a great ambiance. I would HIGHLY recommend making reservations! Ordered the chicken tikka masala with the garlic parmesan naan and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend got the chili paneer bhurjee relleno and loved the amount of flavor and spice level in this unique dish. Would definitely go again and recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience!
This place is beautiful for couples to have date night or if your just having a drink!!!!!
Not worth the hype. Make sure to get reservations AND make sure to tell them what seats you want. We made reservations a week before Mom's birthday bit didn't specify booth/good table. They sat us at a small table near the door, right next to a busy walkway. When asked to move us to an open booth, they said that it was reserved.
As far as food goes, it was nothing special. It tasted the same as what you can get at your local Indian buffet restaurant. The whole experience was not worth the price.
Delicious food and nice staff. My favorite is Gol Guppa shots , malabari seafood and jalebi cake they are YUMMM. Only thing is low choices in menu.
Located in the Gulch, Maneet Chuahan's Indian fusion restaurant where Desi fare (pick a protein, pick a sauce) meets British, Mexican, Canadian and Southern cuisine. A group of us stopped in for lunch recently. Our table enjoyed the appetizers; the tandoori chicken poutine and the naan cheese bread (sorta like a spicy chz pizza). I ordered the Bhunna Chicken (spicy curry) with basmati rice. The texture of the curry seemed off to me plus the rice was not cooked evenly with some of it being crunchy.
A couple of my friends really like this place, but I'm not sure the fusion concept works for me as I prefer more traditional Indian dishes like goat/lamb karahi, butter chicken, saag paneer, peshawari chole, biryani, etc.. Entrees $14-$34. For my money there are much better options nearby close to Vandy/West End.
Should Try: Naan Cheese Bread, Lamb Burger
Want to Try: Gol Guppa, Lamb Nachos, Tandoori Skirt Steak
Hands down one of the best places in Nashville! I've loved everything I have tried and the atmosphere is awesome!
Nice atmosphere, casual and un-stuffy. Food's good, but rather pricey for what it is.
Being from Chicago and having eaten at a lot of Indo-Pak restaurants, this place was pretty awesome. $4 naan a bit much, but well worth the stop!
Delicious Indian fusion! Unique dishes served in a trendy atmosphere by attentive staff. I suggest the desi fare dishes.
Honestly this place is perfection! The atmosphere, the decor, the service and the food are all exceptional! The prices are definitely in line with the quality given at this restaurant. It is a smaller space so conversations get a bit loud but that just means people are having a good ole time! I ve sat at the bar both times and the service was no different than service at a booth or table!
Naan and dabba is an amazing starter and lead in. Everyone at the table ordered a different entree. A lot of good looking and tasty dishes, but disappointed in the chicken and waffles. Chicken was significantly overcooked and when I first cut into the chicken it separated itself from the breading. Waffle was soggy and offered no texture. Possibly just an execution miss? I'd give 4 stars, but you can't offer a fried chicken dish in Nashville that just doesn't make the cut. However, I would come back and give it 1 more shot.
Amazing Indian fare with southern themes. The meat and three is a great option to try the chef's picks. Having their own brewery is something that separates them from other restaurants. Try the Saffron IPA.
Loved the ambience ! Food us yummy and service is great but a bit pricy. It's worth it
If you love Indian food and contemporary setting, you will love this place.
Good place for continental lunch and dinner. You will get verity of Indian food
Second trip here. Going for the desi bowl with peppers and paneer in saag sauce this round.
Ordered Lamb Mouillee. The curry was too salty.
Asked for some spice to make it bearable, was given chopped chilli and was charged for that on the bill.
Ambience and service was good, but nothing great about the food.
Great concept with fusion of southern food with Indian. Should work on adding more vegetarian dishes! If you're in Nashville, must try out this place!
I experienced really poor service when I was there a few days ago. Had to constantly chase down my waiter for drink refills, all the food came at different times leaving some eating and some hungry. Now, the food was
Delicious...our waiter sucked. We also had to wait an additional 30 minutes even tho we had a prior reservation. I wasn t impressed when we walked in, it s the lesser restaurant of the 3 (mockingbird, Tansuo, Chauhan house) I probably won t go again, personally
Being Indian, I expected something unique and with a total twist of fusion. Disappointed. Pricey, no different that a local Indian at its best, the noted cheese cake something Rachel Ray would come up with. Staff and Decor were Great.
Always delicious food and friendly staff. Cocktails are decent. Atmosphere is above average but could still use some tweaking to perfect it.
Best Indian place in Nashville. Not really sure how this place can stay so busy if you read the previous reviews. Never had an issue here and the food is always good. If I've ever had a question, the Staff was there with an answer. Yes, there is some cost to the food, but it is well made and tasty, I'd expect that. Not sure if I'd take to heart all the low star reviews. I absolutely love this place!!
Table was not ready at the reservation time. Extremely slow service. Server not concerned about potential allergens nor special occasion celebration. Server was overall disinterested in our table and made us feel like a burden. Food was ok but not great enough to justify the experience. Interior of the restaurant is beautiful.
Everything here is amazing. It is a must go to if you love Indian food. Don't forget to order some poutine as an appetizer!
Flavor bursts! Delicious food and creative drinks in a lovely setting. Surrounding area is being revitalized but this place is a must for a foodie.
A very busy Indian restaurant, that has excellent food. It's very trendy and has a great bat with really interesting cocktails.
