My partner and I had dinner here for a night out (we re from out of town). We ordered the mussels in spicy coconut broth for the appetizer and it was phenomenal, truly out of this world. My partner wanted to drink it right out the bowl if we weren t in such a nice restaurant. For our entrees, I got the chicken tikka masala and it was very delicious. He got the skirt steak but it was undercooked, so we sent it back for something else. Our waiter and the manager were so kind about the mishap, and assured us that normally it s cooked perfectly (which I totally believe considering how great everything else was!). They comped the replacement entree and even brought us dessert on the house. It was a SUPER YUMMY cheesecake type dessert with Indian doughnut holes baked right into the cake itself. We both loved it and cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If we were locals, we probably would have ordered a whole cheesecake to take home because it was so good, and we would come here very often if we lived closer.

The decor of this restaurant is very colorful and inviting. It was my first time trying this cuisine, and I was thoroughly impressed. Each dish was delicious and the different ingredients made everything flavorful. The service was awesome as well.

If u have Indian restaurant u have to represent India and its taste..which u don't. Pani puri is made with rice which feels like u r eating rice cakes. Not authentic. Made it all not spicy and with no masala for Americans.. But Americans do love to try new cusine and authentic recepices. So why not make it good impression of Indian food. Won't forget to mention prices were way to higher than quality of food.

Service was excellent,
Food was ok
The duck was a little overdone. The calamari had too much filler and not enough calamari.
The ambiance is modern bar

Food was great! Service was good.....Seating is God awful! The metal chairs are incredibly uncomfortable! Pricing is out of wack too. $4 for made to order naan is spot on but then $4 for a tiny portion of basmati? Come on. But the best was when the menu price for an item was $12 but then we were charged $13. No big deal but we asked the server to fix it and he said he would but didn't. That was the final straw for me.

I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants in the States, but I have never had as unique and as flavorful an experience as I had at Chauhan Ale. Liz was a great server, the space was very cool, but the food was the star. The poutine was an unexpected delight, and the evening's chef choice (chicken tami) was so good that I kept eating even though I knew that I would regret it later. I will be back next time I am in Nashville.

This is my wife s favorite birthday anniversary spot! We love the spicy chicken pakora, fried kale, lamb vindaloo, and chicken korma!!! Quality ingredients, great bar/decor, and even ran into Maneet who bought us a round of beer! Go and enjoy yourself, you deserve it.

This is my first fusion experience of Indian food and I absolutely loved it. The tandoori chicken was amazing. I tasted nothing like it before. The chicken korma and lamb saag were good and the shrimp with coconut sauce was ok. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back whenever I visit Nashville.

Ambience is great and right on money you spend. Waiters have wonderful hospitality. As a fellow Indian, Indian food with regular restaurant taste are a bit highly priced. I can understand the rent and maintenance would be pretty high in downtown's but still it is unbalanced between taste and prices.

Nice atmosphere free valet parking lamb meat was delicious. ,spicy calamari and you'd like to have a drink the bar was quaint not everything is for everybody but there's something for somebody when you go there they're very polite and helpful to get you what you want and how you want it can't give them five stars but I'll give it a four and a half

The owner only care about money. I work for a sign company and we wore installing the sign at a restaurant next door. We get there 6:00 in the morning and we parked on their lot without knowing. when the restaurant open the guy see us working and he doesn't even have a courtesy a professional courtesy to come and tell us that this is his parking lot. Just call the tow truck company and tow our van. I just hope he's very proud of what he did. In my world You don't treat workers like this You have at least a professional courtesy of telling them can you please move your vehicle. Good luck with your business and I hope the new restaurants in town will take all your business.

Good cuisine in a chill atmosphere. Valet parking is available. They dim the lights and project Bollywood on the walls. We shared the calamari which is much more tender and less salty than other places. I had the "meat and three" chef's preparation which had chicken and three traditional dishes...all very tasty and highly recommended if you are looking for some variety. Great Nashville venue for something other than the typical fare.

Underwhelming experience. Food is mostly well cooked and the atmosphere is great. The flavors are not really there. Bland is the best way to describe my lamb dish. Special drinks here are well intended but poorly executed. Overall okay experience, food was not great, and will probably not return. Nice try, but felt tricked. This upscale Indian fusion restaurant cover is a gimmick to get you in. Wait staff very pushy too.

Good drinks and appetizers, but main courses are bland and tasteless. Being of Indian heritage I know Indian food, this is by far the blandests sags I have ever had. The apps were really great.

They do an awesome job with the more traditional Indian dishes. But their modern indian fusion stuff is outstanding. They're good about having a larger than normal selection of Mantra beers, which are always interesting. I have yet to have a bad meal there. Call in a table ahead of time if you can.

Our sis restaurant has the best (and only) chicken (or paneer) tikka poutine that knocks our socks off each time we have it! It is a major fave amongst all of us here at the 'bird. Of course, the rest of the menu is also pretty stellar (we're looking at you beef naan, shrimp moilee, and lamb nachos). Go here now! and then come to Mockingbird the next day- or vice versa- but do it! Love our fam- we're like the United Nations of Deliciousness here on this corner! :)

Great fusion creations, but straight, if limited, Indian fare pretty darn good as well. Nice whiskey/whisky selection and range, though not extensive. Enough to keep you satisfied, however! Great service.

We had dinner Christmas Eve and it was excellent. However there was some very fuzzy math involved with the check. They automatically added 20% gratuity but no math known to man was able to account for the figure they came up with. The only math that actually worked was 25% of the after taxes bill. It was Christmas and a hard year for servers and she was a excellent server so we let it slide. It still annoying enough in principle

Absolutely wonderful experience, even the second time around. We came there to celebrate cancer-free news, and not only did we get to enjoy amazing cocktails, chicken tandoori poutine, beef kebabs, and chicken korma, but they also gave us a nice cheesecake to celebrate the occasion. Manager stopped by a few times to check on us, and for all those reasons, we cannot wait to go back. A must-try if you're in the city.

When in Nashville, Chauhan's is the place you must dine at, at least once. I have been to plenty Indian restaurants around in USA. Chauhan's is now on the top 3 of my list. Full marks for Ambience. decor, friendly staff and Food. I tried the Signature Chauhan Burger which i would recommend to anyone who loves burger to try it on their first visit. Cocktails were also pretty good.

Here s the deal. Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. But the 3 chicks behind the bar are historically slow. After my gf, her sis and Mom couldn t get drinks at the bar for +15 mins I got one but I took forever. On e we were seated Our waitress was busting it getting our food and drink orders in and did a great job. But was failed by the girls working the bar. And it was not busy.

Coach em up!

My son and daughter in law took me today for my 63rd birthday lunch. My daughter in law and I had the salmon and I loved it, the skin was crispy, the meat flaky and the sauce was creamy and enhanced the flavor perfectly. The sauteed greens and salsa were well seasoned and the crunch was a nice companion to the salmon. We both enjoyed it. My son ordered the Indian "meat and 3" Thali which was a nice variety with the fragrant and flavorful Indian spices - we all sampled it and were pleased with the flavors and textures. I have read the other reviews and I only agree it's a bit pricey, but no worse than many of the new restaurants that have come into town over the past couple years. We loved it and look forward to returning. I loved the interior and like the size which made it more intimate and warm. Our times was pleasant, we were well tended to and our waiter patiently gave us good information and descriptions of everything we asked about I for one am glad Chef Maneet opened here, but I do wish she had stopped to ask how we enjoyed our meal when she came through, though she did smile and speak.

The food and service was just ok; expectations were higher. Prices were indicative of higher quality food and better service. Knowing the chef is a Chopped judge and renouned restauranteur, had expected some unique dishes and attention to the small things; like setting the table with dirty glasses. This was first visit so may try again.

My overall experience at this place was fairly good. The ambience of the restaurant is unique with an industrialized, electric, modern look. The wait staff are decent.
In terms of the food, some of the items just didn t seem to hit the mark. The cheesy naan bread was really good. The desi bowl with rice, chicken, and tikka masala was good but not great... I ve tasted better at other Indian restaurants and at home. The appetizer we ordered came after the meals, which was disappointing.
As for portions, I would say they are not shareable for two nor are they just perfect for one person. So basically you will have to order knowing you will have extra food.

ABSOLUTELY NOT your regular Indian Restaurant! The staff was so professional, friendly, and attentive. The brunch menu was varied but with all your dependable and favorite flavors and tastes. You have to try the roasted brussel sprouts!

Great and creative dishes, very friendly staff. Way better than I thought it was going to be and I thought it was going to be pretty good.

If your visiting or live in Nashville and you like good food, put it at the top of your list of places to dine. Super impressed.

From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I left, everything was perfect. Had a great lunch here! Nothing bad is on that menu I guarantee it! Great Tikka masala, great quality ingredients, excellent staff, enchanting ambience, it's no wonder the place is owned by a legend of the food industry.

The ambience and presentation of the food was excellent. Menu options were limited, and food wasn't too flavourful. We ordered the stake from the signature dishes, but were greatly disappointed - it was extremely chewy to the point that it was inedible. The masala chicken, even though boasted being paired with a "ghost pepper sauce" was barely hot. Paneer tikka was okay and so was the chilli paneer main. Do not visit if you are expecting spicy and flavourful food.

Great appetizers and wonderful ideas about Indian fusion cuisine. The main courses were less than what we expected. Very mild, even sweet. Their duck was sweet, the meat & three was made up of sweet vegetables and just edible chicken.

No need for dessert once you finish your meal.
The staff was very nice and helpful.

Food was really great, service was great. But seriously the food blew us away, the lamb and the seafood were both incredible, our cocktails were unique and interesting. No complaints at all, just a great meal and experience all around.

The restaurant has only good appetizers. But the plates are very small to share and too expensive. The curries in the entrees were just sweet and nothing else. When asked for pepper, they didn t have it. Overall, the ambience looks good but smells funny. I would definitely not comeback here.

We really enjoyed the food and ambiance at this restaurant. We love Indian food and weren't disappointed by this more modern take on traditional Indian food. The decor, lighting, and atmosphere were very soothing and relaxing. Not overly loud so could easily hold a conversation with my friend (LOL). We had appetizers earlier so wish we had ordered one meal to share because we were going to a show and could not take any leftovers with us. The portions were very generous, the huge chunks of lamb were perfectly cooked, and the sauces were moderately spiced and very enjoyable. Honestly, we nearly had an entire meal left and were disappointed to leave so much great food. All of the staff were friendly and engaging. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning and eating ALL of our food on our next trip to Nashville.

This is the premier Indian restaurant in town... always reliable. The menu is broad enough to satisfy most who enter but interestingly, virtually no vegan options. There must not be a call for it in Nashville. Great wine list along with truly professional waiters who know their trade. The smell is heavenly every time we dine here. Reservations are a must unless you dine early. We love to bring out of town guests here!

Delicious, flavorful, and creative Indian fare. We ordered the chicken and waffles, tandoori chicken and egg, and naan with sauce spread. The tastes were varied and robust. We look forward to going back again soon!

Memorable dining experience. Menu has some truly unique and flavorful fusion dishes. Menu is not overwhelming, but has something for everyone. Enjoyed the Indian twist on a Chile relleno. Appetizers were terrific. Friendly service. The decor is a little funky. Would definitely go back the next time I go to Nashville

I just had lunch thali at Chauhan Ale and Masala House. The chicken curry tasted like pieces of chicken put in tomato ketchup and boiled with water.

The Veg curry was good though.

The ambience is good and the service was great. But we pay for good food in the end with which I was disappointed. It's expensive for what it serves.
