Food was absolutely the best in Nashville. Not the customer service. Bit of advice do not go there if you do not have a reservation. If you going there as party of one they will force you to sit at the bar even if the whole restaurant is empty. I went there when it opened today at 5 pm. No one in he restaurant and the lady says I have to sit at the bar. Other than that it was fine. Once you get the table service is good.

Disappointed ..not exactly what I was expecting....quality verse price is over ratting& when it come to complementary appetizers..(which they don't as any other Indian restaurants)they charge for it & quantity very cheap...very disappointed with the resturant.
Staff took excellent care for my wife s allergy, allowing her to splurge on Indian food for the first time in years. Thanks! Jasmine our waitress was so kind and patient, teaching us less versed diners the ropes. Night Move cocktail was really great and wife loved the Moscow Mule. The meat and three was a great way to get a tour of Chauhan s killer flavors.
Absolutely delicious. Just perfect. It's not cheap food but it shouldn't be because there is a lot of care put into it. Ambiance is cozy and lovely. Service was flawless. Can't say a single bad thing.
Excellent Indian fusion food. The cocktails were amazing, the food was outstanding, the decor is hip / modern with a traditional indian touch and the service was friendly and quick.
The pani puri shots and asparagus pakora were amazing, the Goan shrimp curry was to die for.
Can t go wrong with the Chicken Tikka Masala Poutine. This is my favorite Indian food option in Nashville. Parking is wonky so it s worth it to valet. This restaurant also runs cold so I d pack a cardigan or jacket.
Normally when I travel, I try to avoid having Indian cuisine unless it s in India, because local authentic cuisine is the speciality in each city right? But my friend recommended this place so highly that we just had to make our way there on a Saturday night in Nashville!
Complementary valet!!!
Don t go without a reservation! (not on OpenTable so gotta call to reserve!) This place is extremely packed!!!
So instead of ordering their overpriced entrees, we opted for a few appetizers instead so we could try more things! What we had?
Pani Puri Shots: Amazing! Chicken Tandoori Poutine: A-OK Pashwari Lamb Ribs: THE BEST!!!!
We had ordered two cocktails too which came out perfect. Total for two was about 75. Pricey but thats for the ambiance and service which most Indian places lack anyway so I won t complain! Keep up the great work guys! Will be back next time we re in Nash!
This place could not be better. Been three times. The staff is beyond excellent every time. Ordered different entrees and apps every time which have more than exceeded expectations. Very interesting renditions of classic meals and outstanding Indian standbys. Cocktails are great too. Try the big easy if you like a Sazerac. Gol guppa shots as an app are a must. Skirt steak entree was crazy good. And the korma is always a treat. Thanks for a wonderful meal. We will be back.
Arrived a few minutes after open for Brunch and were seated immediately. Intensely interesting flavors in everything we tried. Absolutely delicious. It did get busy very quickly, and the live music added to a bustling atmosphere.
Great atmosphere! The unique beer made by Cool Springs Brewery just for Chauhan is incredible. Its brewed with traditional Indian spices! The food is an adventurous blend of Southern and Indian food that respects both traditions. The staff is beyond friendly. I look forward to dining here everytime I go. Also, brunch menu is incredible. Youll just have to try it to find out.
My biggest gripe was with the tamarind soda I ordered, for $4 I was expecting something a little different, but what I got was a bottle of $.99 Jarritos soda poured into a fancy glass. It made me start to question the pricing of everything. It was all very flavorful, and filling, but nothing too great. The atmosphere was also very hard to talk in, very loud music.
This place exceeded my expectations. The service was great. The non veg dishes were very good. However, the veg options fell short. All the dishes were VERY rich. Wine selection was great. Love te fresh fusion eye with which the dishes were created.
We tried this restaurant for dinner because of all the fantastic reviews and our friends were in the mood for Indian. It is very dark in the restaurant which made it feel romantic. There were Indian movies projecting onto the wall which was kinda fun.
Now the food...We ordered four different meals at our table. Sadly, I was the only one who enjoyed mine! I ordered the lamb korma and it was incredible. The lamb was tender and tasty. The korma curry was just the right amount of sweet and spicy. I was definitely happy with my dinner.
The rest of the table was not so happy. The chicken tikka masala, the vegetable vindaloo, and the chicken moilee were all so-so. It seemed like the taste level was just turned down a notch or two. The sauces were a muted version of what they could have been.
I would go back just for that lamb korma though! So dang good!
Dang ol real chil aesthetic man dang ol paneer poutine man talmbout scrumdiddlyumptious man dang ol take that India by way of Canada man dang ol, skirt steak was dang ol exquisite man
A fine dine Indian restaurant, few minutes drive from Nashville downtown. Amazing food and good service. Gol Gappa are a must try. Spice levels are perfect for everyone for most of the cuisines. Their Chilly Cheese Kulcha tastes great, but is spicy to taste. It is stuffed with cheese and green chilly. Being vegetarian I found many options. The serving portions are also perfect, with 1 entree sufficient for 2. Do try the Desserts. And finally the ambience is great for all occasions.
First things first, this is not a cheap place by any means.
The food is great and it has authentic taste of Indian cuisine. Since the menu is limited, one doesn't get as many options but this is a good thing because the staff can focus to make the food they are offering as good as they can which they do. The front service staff is charming. They take care of you really well. I feel that their portion size of their "Desi Fare" is too big for a normal person (we were a party of six and none of us could finish their plate). I would like if they reduced their portion size, not only would this help people feel less bad about wasting food but also it can help them bring the price down as well. Any cost reduction would be greatly helpful since it's an expensive place. The food quality is amazing and so is taste for most of the things. Personally, I felt some of the things were bland. To be honest however good the food is, I would not want to pay $37 for their "Desi Fare". I don't think it is worth the price.
One thing to mention about service though is that they messed up timing of our reservation pretty badly. We ended up going at the time we wanted to but they made our reservation for dinner instead of lunch which we said we wanted.
Best Indian food I have ever had! Good quality and prices are reasonable. For some Nashville visitors wanting to try some new food, this is definitely the place to go. The service was also really good - when you visit, make sure you ask for Victoria!
Wow, this place is worth the price. We sat at the bar as we forgot to make a reservation (make one but bar is good too). Their food is fantastic. Their cocktails are delicious as well. Get the bone marrow and you won't be disappointed as it's amazing, particularly the chutney that pushes it over the edge.
My girlfriend and I came to Chauhan Ale and Masala House for the first time for our 3 year anniversary, and we were absolutely amazed. The place was packed when we went, but it was a Friday night, so that wasn't too surprising, especially not for a restaurant voted into the top ten restaurants in Nashville! Our server, Asha, was VERY attentive, yet not pushy. Asha even accommodated my love for spicy foods by offering to make my saag sauce spicier (and it was AMAZING). Now I'm not exactly a rich guy, so we couldn't go ALL out, but for the price we paid, we both had a beer, some naan, and two dinner meals that were enough to have leftovers the next day. To really top everything off, the general manager was walking around delivering beverages himself; very, very kind. We thought he was the bartender, but when he introduced himself and we told him about our anniversary, he gave us a treat on the house! Overall, incredible service, and incredible food. If you don't mind a little bit of noise, I HIGHLY recommend dining here.
I've been been through the different curry options and apps. All are very good. Get the ghost pepper chicken as an app. When you walk in and catch your first whiff, you know you're in good hands. Cocktails are solid and staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Nice atmosphere and different spaces. It's possible to find limited street parking but there is a pay lot across the street too.
We went here for Sunday Brunch. The food and the atmosphere were both top notch excellent. I can't wait to return here and try the dinner menu. I highly recommend.
My first visit will not be my last! I asked my server for suggestions after I explained I am primarily plant based. He said his favorite was the Tiki Burger with the Masala fries. Well, it's now a favorite of mine. Great flavor, great texture and so filling. I wanted for nothing. A comfortable atmosphere with welcoming staff members made this a wonderful lunch experience. Thank you!!!
I have been here three times. Once last year and twice this year. Have tried their dinner and brunch. It was great last year and I gave it 5 stars. For some reason, now the quality of food is not as good as it used to be. I was disappointed. I ordered steak and it had way too much salt in it. Paneer Tikka appetizer was pretty bland without the chutney. Not sure if I would like to back here again considering this is a fairly expensive place. On the bright side, people at Chauhan are really nice and friendly
I'm on a special diet and from out of town. The waiter was really nice, He helped us with our choices and made our lunch very enjoyable with Indian flavor.
When you are a world renown chef you should only associate yourself with businesses that will help maintain your overall positive image. This establishment does not reflect a good image whatsoever. I have actually met Chauhan a few years ago, and she was very nice lady which is consistent with what you see on TV. The servers at this restaurant are very Rude. It almost feels like they are paying you to eat at this place. Now let us talk about the food. I was very disappointed both times I have been there. Your local, half the price, all you can eat indian buffet probably matches up with most of the food I have had at Chauhan's. And believe me we tried almost everything (shared with a big group). The prices are also Outrageous to say the least.
Ignore the bad reviews, this place is awesome. The Indian spiced craft brews are one of the highlights be sure to get the sampler. The appetizers are phenomenal - try the gol guppa shots and the hot chicken pokorus, they are my favorite. It is a bit pricey but it is clean with high quality food. I didn't experience any service issues during my visits here. In fact, going again tonight.
We love Chauhan Ale and Masala House so much. It's the best experience of food I think I've ever had. All the different and unique spices make the food such a wonderful experience. The food really takes your taste buds on a journey, and have taken mine to places never tasted before. We love recommending this restaurant to any friends coming to Nashville looking for a place to eat.
Great Cocktails, delicious beer, and the best food in Nashville!
Great food, lamb chops are amazing, a must try!!! Service could use work, our server had a major attitude and did not put our order in with the rest of the food, ended up being at the restaurant an extra 30 minutes waiting.
Visiting Chauhan from NYC was the highlight of our Nashville trip! We ordered most of the menu, craving a taste of everything, and were completely blown away. The traditional Indian dishes are by far the best (vindaloo, lentils, all the curries!!) And the fun twist on "nachos" was probably one of my favorites on the menu. The staff was also the warmest, friendliest bunch and cocktails are amazing! Can't say enough positive things about this place and can't wait to go back!
Definitely hybrid and/or fusion but worth a stop to compare to traditional dishes or your Asian mom's cooking. Drinks were well-made with Indian twists and spices.
Solid performance as always but we were exceptionally taken care of by Noah. Definitely ask to be seated in his section. Only photo we got was the destruction of dessert.
Brunch was awesomeness!! Service was a bit chilly (the reason for the 4 stars) but the food was GOLDEN! We had the naan bread with all of the toppings. Just amazing.
My wife and I have been fortunate to eat at Maneet Chauhan restaurant in Chicago and New York (Vermilion). So when we booked our trip to Nashville we were both excited to go to her first own restaurant. The food was 10/10. Amazing fresh food with powerful flavour. Decor is amazing and staff are extremely nice. If you are a foodie like my wife and I then this is a must when visiting Nashville. The last time we had great Indian food like this outside of India was in Paris.
A beautiful Indian fusion restaurant that I would definitely like to go back for a romantic occasions!! Delicious food and great atmosphere! When I am back in Nashville, I would definitely like to go there again.
Chauhan Ale & Masala house, upon entry, exudes rich color and warmth not typically seen. It s inviting, full of culture, depth and anticipation of the quality of taste, texture and satisfaction of such flavorful food. I can t wait to return and expand my tastes into all the varieties offered. The ale selection is authentic and excellent as well as the service. 5 stars all the way.
Had tried lamb ribs, perfectly spiced and cooked. Didn't like the lamb shank in a fancy dish. I felt the salt was less, only the gravy was giving flavor to the meat. But worth a try.
