Everything was very tasty and a really fun take on what comfort food with an Indian twist. Relaxed BoHo ambience. Only complaint -- everything was a bit over salted. Seemed unnecessary given all the wonderful spices and flavors.

I would love to give this 5 stars because the food I did eat was quite tasty... but barely anything is made free of wheat. My favorite reason to dine Indian is usually I can eat everything safely. If you are gluten free like me you may have only 1 or 2 dishes to enjoy. Sad really.

Absolutely some of the best quality food and lively atmosphere. It is always a treat to dine here. The servers are wonderful and the variation of the dishes (and spice levels) is perfect for those who love this cuisine and newcomers to it.

Overall I thought it a very imaginative place. It had a great combination of Indian and Southern cooking. The visual (Food, Surounds) were top notch. Any negatives would be that it's a bit pricey and the food seemed to be a bit sweeter than other Indian food. Also, it's a bit loud for intimate conversation. Still I have it 5 stars.

My husband and I were on a USA cross country road trip and decided to come here for lunch. Both of our parents are Indian and as an Indian this fusbion place is an amazing blend of Western and indo cuisine, without a compromise of any authentic Indian flavours. Bravo!

The food has gone down in quality slightly since it opened. Though I would still go back and enjoy the calamari immensely, the service was awful. Poor timing of plates, server giving our food to other tables, she seemed to not be familiar with the menu to the point that she could describe the food. I was embarrassed to take someone to a place with that kind of service regardless of how the food was. Would go for myself again if the mood took me, but never bring a date or a business associate here.

Since moving out of NYC I no longer have Indian food easily accessible. So in Nashville for business and figured you can't go wrong with a resteraunt by a Chopped winner. As opposed to traditional Punjabi or Pakistani style I could consider this not of a "fusion". The flavors of all dishes were well balanced, big portions yet you didn't feel stuffed. The wait staff was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable on the food and drink pairings. So if you're visiting Nashville, or a local and want a change of pace from amazing BBQ eat here.

We were so excited to find Indian food that might be a little off the beaten path. It was that for sure. The seafood dish was so salty it was barely edible. The other was so sweet it was like dessert. No thanks. I'll stick with the other cheaper Indian restaurants if that's the best you can do.

We just had dinner at this restaurant. The food was amazing but what was truly great was the service. My son has a nut allergy and he ate an appetizer that we didn't realize had a nut paste in. He had a reaction to it and had to run to the bathroom to throw up twice. The waiter and manager were so compassionate. They kept coming to us to make sure he was okay. They brought him gingerale and a pineapple sorbet. To top it all off they brought us a dessert and then refused to charge us. So the entire dinner was on the house!! I cannot believe it still. I've never experienced such superior service anywhere else. I want to specifically thank our waiter and Nikki Smith, the assistant general manager.
Lots of love,
Sonia

Wow is the only word to describe the flavor train....

Wow is the only word to describe the flavor train. I started with a glass of white wine, Pinot grigio, for appetizers Tandoori Chicken Poutine and vegan Artichoke Pakoras. Our server, Jim, was so knowledgeable on the dishes. Equipped with detailed tasting notes to aid our selection throughout the night. For my entree I oredered the over night marinated Tamarind lamb chops topped with green curry butter served on Bhunna. I suggest everyone gets their own naan bread for curry dipping. I went with the garlic parmesan naan bread. My food lasted a few minutes. I tasted the other dishes in the table; Tandoori Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken Korma, and the Braised Lamb Bhunna. The Korma has a strong herb taste, the Bhunna was tasty and the Tikka Masala was just right for my second entree. Also tasted the Highlander IPA and the seasonal Pumpkin Ale. Highlander tastes similar to Bengal Tiger very hoppy with a nice after taste. The Pumpkin Ale is delicious and I recommend you to try it. Their cocktails change every week which is exciting. For desert Gulab Jamun Rose Cheesecake and Tres Leches with an Indian twist. The Tres Leche is so unique and tasted like a perfect infusion of condensed, evaporated and regular milk. The best Tres Leches hands down. I will be coming back to Chauhan.

I usually never write reviews but this place by far was the worst I have been too! I don t even know where to begin! We had reservations and it took them about 20 mins to sit us at a table and the host had a bad attitude. We ordered appetizers and it had NO TASTE whatsoever! And our main entree also had no taste! The food was cold, naans weren t probably cooked, the paneer in paneer tikka masala wasn t properly cooked. I wouldn t even call it Indian food, it had no Indian taste to it! If you are looking for authentic Indian food, I wouldn t recommend this place at all!

Fantastic dining experience, very impressed, would not chop. this seems like the best place to take your stubborn family members and hold their hand through the meal. The flavors are big, but the heat levels are not overwhelming.

Judges review-

Creativity-very welcoming server with careful recommendations and enthusiasm, beer pairings from Chuahan s brewery were fun! Chai stout, saffron IPA and a palatable Saison.

Presentation-Meat and Three came out in a little tower of bowls! Inside was perfectly cooked chicken, basmati rice, dal, veggies, naan and a papadum, lovely ambiance, exposed brick and corners dressed with curtains and Indian films projected on the wall,

Taste-The dal was packed with flavor and spice and black eyed peas, a nice southern twist. The veggies came in a bright yellow moilee sauce, a coconut milk based, sweet sauce with tender carrots, peas, beans and potatoes. The tikka masala and veggies really shined-a creamy tomato sauce with a depth of authentic Indian flavors.

I can t wait to return!

The flavor of the paneer tikka masala was divine, ...

The flavor of the paneer tikka masala was divine, but I was actually really let down by my dining experience. I drove from Chicago to Nashville with super high expectations. I arrived for my reservation 15 mins early and saw 2 booths were available in an area of the restaurant most guests were gathered. I wanted to be where the excitement was so I asked to be seated at a booth. I was told I had to be seated elsewhere due to reservations within the next 30-45 minutes. I was understanding and accepted to sit at a table instead. The cocktail list is remarkable and I was pleased with my choice, however I was embarrassed when my server examined my ID for several minutes. The dinner menu has so many great selections. I went with my favorite dish- paneer tikka masala. It was absolutely delicious. If you are weary of spice, this masala is not spicy at all. I LOVE spice so I ordered green chilis on the side and was given a green chili sauce instead. It gave me the heat I wanted, though I prefer the flavor of fresh green chilis. I also ordered the roti which I found to be mediocre. It was not warm and in my opinion very fluffy and dry for roti. I was also shocked when the order of roti only came with one piece. The rice was not very warm and the amount of rice was not sufficient for the amount of masala. The server asked if I wanted more rice so of course I said yes. I was unaware there would be an up charge for the extra rice and the green chili sauce. The food was satisfying for the most part, but I found it to be over priced for what was provided. I was upset to see the two reserved booths remained unseated during my entire dining experience. I am hopeful my next visit will be better. Most people seemed to be really enjoying their time. I wish I could have been in a better spot to see more of what they were ordering so I could plan my next meal.

Poorly balanced main course. Hubby got a huge steak with 5 pieces of fried potatoes. Lamb dish which is supposedly their featured item came out cold with 2 spoons of rice. Overpriced for the quality. Won't recommend. Nice friendly people, good decor.

A nice indo- American fusion place .

A nice indo- American fusion place .
You will get fries with your chicken tandoori flavors, have your golguppas with tequilas and the list goes on .

I am not a fan of fusion and this place came pretty close to changing my mind .All the dishes we tried were great but the mussels with cocunut curry was my favorite

The gol guppas are a must have if you are here. Get it with the tequila mix
Overall good service , nice vibe and worth your penny

NOT SUITABLE DURING LUNCH AT WEEKEENDS

NOT SUITABLE DURING LUNCH AT WEEKEENDS

I would seriously advice against visiting this place during the lunch time on the weekends. There weekend lunch menu is a "brunch" menu and TBH, it was a big let down because I expected Indian food but they didn't have much options in their "brunch menu". I wonder why they would serve brunch till 3 PM. Maybe I should have called before and asked about the menu I went in.

The "Chauhan's special burger" is something that one can easily find in a Jack-in-the-Box and one of their recommender drinks, "Arjun, you gonna have one more" is a 15 mL drink priced at a dollar per mL, pretentiousness at it's best.

I have been to Chauhan 3 times. The first time was decent. The food was tasty but the service was a bit disappointing as the staff seemed overwhelmed. The appetizers were the highlight given the vindaloo was very sweet. I thought I came on an off night so I decided to return.

The second visit 45min passed between my appetizer and entree. I eventually had to leave my seat to track down my server, as i had not seen him in at lest 20min, to tell him i needed the check because i was too hungry to wait any longer. As i was walking out the assistant general manager caught me and apologized. She was adamant that if i came back I would be "taken care of" as this phrase was repeated at least three times. She gave me her card and asked me to email her before i came back.

So on my third trip i emailed the assistant GM and she said she was looking forward to seeing me. I came with a friend and spent over $100 and never once saw her. Nothing was "taken care of" of either. Not only does this place give consistently poor service, the promises of the management seem to dissipate shortly after being given. I will not be returning.

The website said a full menu would be available however, only the brunch menu was available. Ordered my burger medium and it was charred in some places. Really wanted some good Indian food but there was not much on the brunch menu. The live music was so loud you had to yell to be heard. Actually a very disappointing experience.

Very unprofessional service. Made reservations. Was not initially greeted by anyone. Then was told my reservations were not received. Offered to show the host Mary my confirmation e-mail. Then was told they were closing for plumbing issues. Yet it was a ful restaurant of people still eating. She was very rude and unprofessional. Will not be back!

I've been wanting to try this for months, so my birthday seemed like the perfect time. The staff was so friendly and the service was great. When my husband made the reservation he informed them of my onion allergy and they accommodated me and took it seriously (rare).I had the lamb chops, so juicy and flavorful. All 5 of us loved our food and cocktails. The cheesecake was also fantastic. We will definitely be back!

A very unique Indian-style restaurant with a renowned chef. The entrees are flavorful and presented outside of traditional Indian recipes. I would stay away from the "Thali" trays, which is like a sampler plate. It is pricey and not a good option to experience. Service is very friendly.

Restaurant from the famous Maneet Chauhan. I first had her food at Vermillion. It was a Latin Indian fusion. It was very good. But over the years there quality declined. So I was excited to try her Indian Mexican fusion. The flavors are very consistent. More Indian but just enough of a flavor addition to make it unique. The only disappointment was the cake. Not enough chai for me and then I compared it to Portillos and it didn't make the cut. The movie projection on the wall was fun but not useful. Overall a good experience.

Great ambience, wonderful food. We didn't have to wait even without a reservation, probably would help if you have one. Liz who took our order was very friendly, patient, knowledgeable about the food & menu.
Apps were OK, we had panner Tikka kabab & black eyed pea croquette. Main course was fantastic, it was perfect made to order. Desert is OK not a must try. Overall, pretty good place to try out in Nashville, downtown area.

One of the best examples of successful fusion: Indian food with Southern influences (or vice versa, difficult to tell). BBQ ribs in Indian Style, Tandoori Shrimp & Grits, and many more. All in a very beautiful and relaxed atmosphere.

Appetisers were really very good, and maybe we should have ordered from the Signature entree menu instead of the standard curry list, but we were largely disappointed with our entrees. We had a lamb bhunna and a chicken tikka, and while the sauces were great (I didn t find them too sweet at all, which is usually the case with a tikka) the proteins in both were badly overcooked and dry. On top of this, the restaurant was about 2/3 full when we arrived and EVERYTHING was slow...it took them a while to sit us, even though we had a reservation, all the foods and drinks took long periods of time to arrive, our server disappeared right before we ended the meal so we almost had to ask another server for our check. That might not be the experience everyone gets, so if you re looking for Indian food in Nashville it s worth a shot, but try ordering from the signature menu.
