I had dinner here with my girlfriend for the first time over the weekend, and I cannot say enough good things about our experience.

- Service 10/10
- Ambiance 10/10
- Food 10/10

If you're looking for a great dining experience, in a fun part of town, this is the spot.

Excellent Indian fusion. The decor is modern while paying homage to tradition. The house specialty drinks are creative and worth a try for surprisingly successful flavor combinations. I love out of town, but if local I would be a regular.

My wife and I visited about a month ago. We were looking forward to a great experience based on other reviews and the reputation of the chef. I've lived and visited in countries where great Indian food was a staple so we know a little about Indian food.

We ordered a bread and chutney appetizer that was okay but not worth the $11 price for basically naan and about 8 small chutney samples. We order the desi fare chicken vindaloo. It was so spicy hot that it was inedible. We kept eating because with the reputation of the location it must be us and not them, but after three or four bites our mouths were so numb we simply couldn't continue.

When we explained to the waitress why we weren't finishing you could see her figuratively roll her eyes at the uninitiated. There were no offers to mitigate the bill, (which we weren't asking anyway), or even an apology. It was a haughty attitude that made me not want to ever return.

I gave it two stars because the naan was really good and the chutney was decent.

Okay. Truth be told the parking is a real challenge in this area of Nashville. Chauhan's atmosphere and aroma is amazing. Very interesting menu- more of a "fusion" Indian restaurant- which we were not expecting. Favorite appetizer- the lamb nachos. The lamb vindaloo was good but not spicy enough. The chicken with saffron cashew sauce was tasty but not complex enough flavor. Maybe tweak the menu to be a more high end Indian restaurant? Oir server, Adam, was a delight.

This restraunt is a modern, partly Indian restraunt. The staff was effective and friendly. The restraurant s food, on the other hand, was terrible. I went there for lunch, and they only had 10 - 15 items on their menu. None of them were traditional Indian meals; dal, paneer, etc. I ordered a Desi Bowl , and picked my toppings. The outcome turned out to be a bowl horrible tasting paneer and rice. For desert, they gave me only one gulab jamun. Overall, the staff was good, but the food was horrible.

Service and food beyond bad. This place went downhill. Food was extra bland, chicken was dry and tasteless. If you want Indian food, try a different place. I sent my food back and waitress could care less. Not a word. No honesty in food or service. $15 for some fries with gravy and cheese on top? Do not order thali or desi fare, it s literally $2 food sold for $20. Worst of all the people working are like zombies. They don t talk, have no training or have any idea about Indian food.

Chauhan Ale & Masala House is one of the best Indian restaurant in this area. The food here is excellent! Plentiful, tasty, more than filling. I had the meal for one. Highly recommended. Next night I tried a variety of appetizers: most of them were excellent! Service was excellent. They did not bother me with service, but was always there when I needed, or just before. 5 stars for sure!

3rd times a charm. I have enjoyed 3 meals at Chauhan and each was unique and delicious. I dont have a long past eating Indian cuisine but this place has really made me crave it often. 2 of my visits were for lunch and our food came in a timely fashion executed to perfection. The only time I have eaten dinner here it was a very memorable meal. We tried several items on the menu and shared them and everything was amazing. This is definitely my go to lunch spot in Nashville from now on especially for business lunches .

Went for late dinner - 9.30-10 ish. Ambiance. Great. Service. Pretty good. Gets only pretty good because it is hard to get them on the phone. But the service staff was attentive and prompt. Food - now this is where the problem comes in. I liked the appetizers - chicken pakora and calamari. Spicy. Tasty. Thoroughly enjoyed them. As for dinner - my partner got the desi tiffin and I got the shrimp vindaloo. The vindaloo was forgettable. Indifferent. Shrimp was chewy - cooked too much. The desi tiffin not much better. Everything was spicy - the daal, the chicken, the okra. Everything - except the naan. I guess this is where the masala house in the name comes in but I just found it overwhelming. No balance. Full on assault. I have been to just about all kinds of desi restaurant. There are very few that have such a vibrant ambiance but many that serve good spicy AND balanced food. Now coming to the ale house part - I got a $7 beer - perhaps the cheapest on the menu and it was a puny fart of a bottle that barely filled a glass - so perhaps 12 oz or less. For $7 - one expects at least a full damn glass. So my advice - go for the ambiance and snacks. Give full meal a pass. I had high hopes for this place but was sadly disappointed.

On vacay passing thru Nashville decided to skip the buffet places and go here. I can say we dont regret our decision. Partner had the award winning burger which he grabbed and I swear it was gone in a few secs. He loves it and this when he doesn't like desi restaurants. I ordered the basmati rice with tandoori chicken and buns sauce. Good food and have I mentioned the server was actually very passionate about her job which reflected in her service. Pls open 1 in Charlotte. It's about time we got 1 there too.

This is my favorite brunch in Nashville. It's got a great mix of southern comfort with Indian flaire and spices. Their naan french toast is the best french toast I've had and their tandoori chicken and waffles has such amazing flavors. Definitely get their pork belly fried rice as well. It's always so hard to decide what to eat there, they have so many great brunch options! Bonus: stick figures in love is the best mixed drink ever.

I am slightly biased as I LOVE curry. That said, the staff is attentive and kind. The food is absolutely amazing. It's Indian cuisine in approachable portions and beautiful display. The interior of the restaurant is post and intimate with nice touches like Bollywood movie projections on the walls and purple magenta silk curtains.

Try the Gol Guppa shots (appetizer)!

As an Indian with sophisticated taste, I highly recommend the restaurant. Indian food done differently than the average place. Also huge props to the famous Chopped chef Judge for building a creative restaurant menu and space. Was totally surprised when I heard they served a steak, but hey it was pretty good!! Honestly recommend it for a good time

Great food! I had the poor man's fish and chips and it was delicious. Great vibe as well and super nice service. My one complaint is the location. There is so much construction and the parking situation is odd.

Absolutely wonderful food, and even better service. Rae is probably the best bartender/waitress that has ever set foot in Nashville, and she deserves an award and a Top Chef type of show, but for waitressing. Kristen, in training, was also very entertaining to talk to. I will definitely be returning to this establishment, as I noticed the food has the effect of temporarily curing my chronic existential nihilistic depression, while also staving away my urges to become a communist. My hope is that upon further visits the effects will become permanent, but more studies are needed.

The best Indian American fusion food I have ever tasted. Their ambience, presentation, staff, celebrity chef, drinks - everything is simply awesome. My favorite is their lamb chops with their whisky sampler.
If you are an Indian and are looking for food like you cook at home, this is not your place. But, if you are looking for a place that has done an awesome job of Americanizing the Indian cuisine or to take your non-Indian friends, business prospects or customers, this is a perfect choice.

Love the outside and inside of the restaurant. The food I ordered was fish saag and it was exquisite as my birthday dinner. Also I took a photo opportunity with Chef co owner Maneet Chauhan as my birthday present and souvenir.

Really good Indian food. We stayed away from the fusiony stuff so not sure about that but I d guess it s really good. The chicken pakoras were very spicy. Chicken tikka Masala was great. Vindaloo was good but I d probably try the Korma next time (never mind: just looked at someone s picture of the Hyderabadi ribeye ) Naan was nothing special. Skip it. Raita a good idea.

It's alright. I know a lot of people that think it's great, but those people are vegetarians who don't know how to cook for themselves. If you want good Indian food, go to Mysore Palace in Cool Springs or Taj on Nolensville. Still, this place is alright. It's really not bad.

Disappointed with my experience here. My waiter was amazing and funny. The food was good. However the sheer capacity in the middle of a pandemic right after the mayor put the new rules in affect to curb covid-19 were not followed. We saw parties of 8 and 10, there was no distance between seating, and the hostess made a big fuss when we asked to be seated away from other people. They had one side of the restaurant filled and the other side was empty? Very strange. They did not enforce mask rules and let people walk around and come in without masks. I can say with certainty I will not be coming back to this restaurant and would rather go to a restaurant who enforced safety measures. My mother-in-law reported them to the health department which is how bad the measures were.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Nashville. The staff is friendly, the service is always great, and I have never had a bad meal. I've been to several special events here, as well, including a wine dinner and the new year's dinner, and they always have something extra-special on the menu to surprise and delight, making the special events well worth it!

I visited this restaurant, during my conference in music city convention center in Nashville. Randomly, selected Indian restaurant based on google review, and disappointed and wasted money.
My suggestion, if you are Indian, this restaurant is not good for you. Menu card is confusing, we (party of 5) could not understand what they want to serve. This restaurant is good for other country (non- Indian) people who have never tasted Indian food. Ambiance was good and servers were courteous. I order tiffin (which consist of full meal), I would say tasteless and cheap quality ($22 for eggplant, daal, mix-veg and rice + one Nan, it is expensive). These guys should visit Houston to see quality of real Indian food.

This was supposed to be the highlight of the trip to Nashville unfortunately what's a disappointment the venue is nice kind of the dark side the food offerings were par for the course the wait was very for long it was syrup way below the serving temperature and the way to scene was not consistent. Probably it will not be a return.

This Indian fusion restaurant creates a uniquely Nashville Feel from the moment you walk up to the recessed front door.
The interior is warm and welcoming, reminescent of somewhere you spent a drunken evening with friends in the old days. Except this place has top level service and the food is so good you want to experience it stone sober.
You can get an Indian "Meat and Three" here, served at a table, booth, or bar.
Bottom line; You need to go.

Ambiance was good and so was the staff. However, the food was very average for the price I paid.
There is barely any choice for vegetarians so that was a disappointment. Rather tiny menu for a restaurant which was so hyped!
Paneer bhunna merely tasted like raw spices thrown into uncooked gravy.
Goan aaloo curry was good.
Black daal and corn-chicken were average.
Also, at the very least the rice should have been basmati. The rice served was of really cheap quality for a fine dining experience!
On the whole, will definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone or return.

Amazing Indian fusion. Everything we had at our table was great. The vindaloo was definitely hot, but we were warned. The strip steak was great and the paneer burghi relleno was every good and interesting. We also tried several of the house special drinks, which all were like variations of traditional drinks but with interesting spices and flavors included. All of them were great. We also love the Bollywood movies playing on the walls. Definitely get reservations.

Nice atmosphere and decor. Friendly service. Best to make reservations as it's currently very trendy. Sadly, the food, described as Indian Fusion, was just okay. We prefer straight Indian fare. My husband had the Chioppino and I had the dinner special of entree and two sides. Also had Naan which was dry and rather tough. They do have some good craft beers on tap and a full bar.

The food was fantastic. Not your normal Indian fare. The spice level was perfect. We sat in the bar area and we're waited on by Tess. She was knowledgeable about the bar menu and the food menu. We took her suggestions on what to try and we were not disappointed. She was very attentive to our needs the whole time, and she took care of her bar duties as well. We will definitely be back!

I agree, the food was a bit pricey when compared to other Indian eateries around town. I sat at the bar and my drink was amazing, the bartender was super nice, and the food was good. When I think of this place, the social aspects and drinks stick out more than the food.
