Nice resort in nice location. Decent size, clean and modern rooms. Great gym, heated pool and jacuzzi. Restaurant has an amazing view. Would definitely recommend.
Really disappointed. The room was nice and spacious but bathroom was awful and water pressure in shower not existent. The worse was poor sound proof, stayed in building 100, suite in bottom floor, noise from outside and walking from room upstairs made sleep impossible. Every time someone walked in room above it felt bed was shaking! The pool was really small and area poorly kept. Best thing about place was trail hike. In my opinion it does not deserve the 4 star rating and it is extremely overpriced. Taxes charges on top of prices published by online booking agencies are excessive!
Stacey was very professional and genuinely concerned about making our experience the best. Thank you chaminade and a special shout out to Stacey!!
Loved the resort. The 1st floor rooms with the patio is the highlight. The dinner at the restaurant is not great and their room service is very expensive.
Beautiful grounds, staff very accommodating and wonderful food.
Good hotel however the pool had no posted hours and the wouldn't let us use it at night. They need to post their hours to not mislead the paying guests. Also breakfast order was not taken that I put outside the door before 2am. When I called to ask about it in the morning no one answered the phone. So I just ate my cold pizza. Hotel should be a 4 star but the services just made just made it nothing special and some things were frustrating. Not worth the money that was spent.
Comfortable rooms, really really great food, lovely views and laid back. Fantastic and helpful staff.
I really enjoyed my stay here! Although the room was utilitarian, the restaurants and grounds were wonderful! I stayed in a "luxury king" room that consisted of a bed and bathroom. There was a small refrigerator in the room but no microwave. The room did have a nice deck off the back though. It would have been nice if there was a divider between our deck and the others but there wasn't.
The grounds were immaculate with majestic views. There is a walking/hiking trail on the property as well.
The pool/spa area was nice. The volleyball court and tennis courts were nice, too.
The food was absolutely exquisite they had a buffet style meal with everything you could think of from desserts to tri-tip the drinks were a little pricey but all in all it was a wonderful experience and i recommend it as place to enjoy.
Pretty resort with a really nice pool land view. Workout room is big with a lot of equipments. The trail in the back is ready and fun. Super close to downtown Santa Cruz.
Had a woods view room downstairs with a patio. Decor was nice, unique, and clean.
Nice location. Rooms were ok. Breakfast was awesome
They did accommodate my late check out request but sofa beds and rollaway beds are very uncomfortable and they need to clean the rooms when requested
Gorgeous view. Quiet peaceful grounds. Friendly staff. Clean rooms.
Parking here is horrible. They do not accommodate to their guest at all taking into account they charge you parking fees. There are no designated space for guests whom actually are staying there and ones who are there for the resturant. It's seems to be open to the public.
My family was staying over a weekend with a large group reservation well over a month ago but they were not able to let us check in a room till 2+ hours later on the day we visited. We were told that housekeeping issue, also overbooked. The place is nice and clean which you can look at their pictures from the website. The main conference building and dining hall locates on a hill so the scenic was very nice. In term of dining.. the Saturday lunch had more variety than the dinner (not sure why) but I felt it might be because another group of conference ; however mahi mahi was overcooked, chicken filet as well. I just don't see any 4 stars hotel dining to compare with hotels at Vegas. My room was ok but it seems to be accommodated for visitors with pets. I wished to know that in advance . I can sense the smell although it was tolerable. The room sits farthest from the main building.
Classy. Awesome food. Decent price. Holiday buffet nightmare though.
Beautiful setting, unsurpassed employees made me feel like royalty and delicious food with breathtaking views. You must try the breakfast buffet early mornings!!!
Main dining room is insufferably loud and prevents conversation. That said, the staff is wonderful, the food decent, and the view is nice.
So, so romantic! The rooms are large, and the weekend brunch is excellent. Service was impeccable, and they even threw in some nice amenities. Overall, a great experience for my wife and me.
Comfortable, relaxing, quiet and friendly. They have nice places to walk and a good gym to exercise in. It would be even better if it was a bit closer to all the action
I was just visiting with my nephew and another friend, but from what I could see was a very nice resort type hotel & spa and are treated with warmth and respect from all employees.
For non-cooks, this is the lux big place with varied delish food for Thanksgiving lunch/ dinner. Lamb, prime rib, steak maybe and turkey. A dozen sides at least. $65. Parking at the hotel resort on the hill is Tight, 3 areas, so get there early for Easter feast, Mother's Day or other holiday. And restaurant is a bit hidden behind the right side of the staircase; the left downstairs behind the big staircase is not well lit. Oh, and the young female hostesses are so polite handling over 100O! Doormen too!
22Nov2018, I got Severe,at table, food poisoning today at the buffet. Didn't eat turkey or dressing. Yellow squash soup was delicious but cold! Lamb and prime rib and mahi. Silver Coho salmon fillet was not replaced fast enough in 2hrs. Early potato wedges we're cold and hard, but mashed was tasty! My waitress was the best in many years eating here, Joy on the superb patio! overlooking Monterey Bay.
FAIR WARNING!!
Told the Kitchen was due for a major remodel by doorman...
I noticed lots of Extremely
flammable non-native oily gum trees.
Asst Mgr and Mgr both said they would "credit me for food poisoning at Thanksgiving", but credit never arrived. Several conversations.
County Health Dept says they were only cited for minor violations.
I would not stay here again. The service is particularly bad, but I don't want to say that the food is any better. Others have talked about how bad the rooms are also. This place seems to cater to business retreats so individual travelers may have trouble with the restaurant, service, and basic amenities of other hotels/ resorts in the area.
It was ok. The view was good and the service was amazing. The food was, just ok. I had the cheese board and the steak tacos. Also had the tempura green beans. All the food, just ok. Had two drinks and they were good and flavorful. They were both martinis but didn't have the alcohol a martini would have. Overall if you're looking for a place that looks nice, has a nice view, or excellent service then definitely come here. I wouldn't go for the food and drinks alone. Again, the food wasn't bad it just wasn't anything special or unique.
Beautiful location! Really stunning views and so much green
Very affordably priced for the experience you get. Great views. Lots of amenities and professional staff. My family enjoyed a pleasant stay here on our way to the boardwalk. Fantastic for weekend getaways. Minutes from the beach and the mystery spot. So much to see and do in Santa Cruz. This place was lovely for relaxing and the rooms are spacious.
Id probably give this place 3.5. It was relaxing and aesthetically beautiful. However, the mens locker room was playing country music the entire time which didn't maintain the chill vibe. Also, for such an upscale place I was disappointed with the use of plastic cups and lack of herbal teas in the lobby. You'd think they could have some more environmental awareness. But the landscaping for the hot tub was really wonderful. Would come back and recommend.
We were looking forward to spending some time in Santa Cruz and we were pleased to find a last minute deal online. However, once arriving to the hotel, we realized that the pictures were more pleasing than the actual accommodation. The hotel and the facilities are very old and dated. The clerk at the front desk was super friendly; however, we realized that her 'great recommendations' were soon to be short lived.
She was very nice and helped us put our rooms next to our friend's rooms and she also gave us a choice of an upstairs or downstairs room. She recommended that the downstairs room was much nicer since it had access to a large balcony -- we decided to listen to her since, hey, she knows the most about this resort! In hindsight, I should have listened to my boyfriend's recommendation of going with the upstairs room. The room we were given was SO NOISY. We could hear every creak and crack of the guests staying above us. I don't think the guests were doing anything particularly crazy -- just walking around. The 'large balcony' turned out to just be an open sliding glass door into a wooded area (no dividers between the different blocks of rooms).
We were also disappointed because the front desk clerk said that we could reserve tennis courts and that they would be able to rent us tennis rackets and equipment. When we called later to reserve a court, we were told that they do not rent out equipment. We probably would not stay here again.
Honestly this was a last minute trip for us. We got so lucky picking the Chaminade. I have to say this is one of the nicest resorts hidden away in Santa Cruz. The hotel restaurant has the most amazing view from the patio. It is absolutely breathtaking at sunset. The room was awesome, good size, great decor and most of all, it was quiet. Just a few minutes drive from the boardwalk. Not really a place for kids but if you're looking for a romantic getaway then this is your place.
Absolutely stunning location in the redwoods with an ocean view. Restaurant food was pretty high quality. Rooms were larhe and comfortable.
We attended a team building event of rope courses at the Chaminade Resort. We enjoyed the event very much. The rope courses event was provided by the Synergy group. It is very challenging, I realized where my comfort zone is, and it's fun at the same time. I would highly recommend it for team building!
Beautiful rooms and amazing scenic beauty all around
I was very appreciative to find a local restaurant that could serve us a late Christmas dinner. There were 5 in our party. The waiter was a nice man and all of the servers were pleasant as was the valet who parked our car. We had to ask that we get a bread basket. Had to request the 5th place setting. The roasted chicken was dry, the salmon was dry. Both were over cooked. The shortribs were good, salads were good. The atmosphere was nice. The staff seemed disorganized. We will try it again sometime.
Great view from the mountain. Have been to the lovely jewel of Capitola for 25 years and never knew the hotel just 8 min from the beach. Hotel was remodeled and very nice with amazing views
Nice setting, awful food service both at the restaurant and room service
Visiting friend preparing for wedding and got to see her room. Good sized with a nice layout. The art and furniture in the room was very cool, with sleek design. The huge abacus headboard was very cool!
The location is great. The service is wonderful. The staff at wonderful. The room was lacking. It was roomy but bad wifi, minimal hot water. Loved the little patio with tree views.
A lovely holiday brunch! Well worth the drive for this level of service.
We returned from a quick impromptu stay here and it was marvelous!
Staff was nice from when they answered my call to checking out.
We had a small hiccup, but they took care of everything.
Always ask for specials and you will be surprised what you can get.
We can't wait to go back!
Poor customer service at front desk plus an overwelmimg $$$$ price for one night..just not what it seems in pictures on line
Old property with no upgrade conveniences and technology. No USB in the room except for 1 port on TV. TV has no CNN, ESPN....only 10 channels...get . Rooms feel like a Best Western. Pool is very small for size of property. Bathroom is very small for a suite .
The view is spectacular the place is very upscale the service is excellent
The view from the balcony by the conference centre highlights include the ocean and the mountains. There is a relaxing pool area. It is however very convenient to highway 1 to make it easy to do nearby sightseeing
The food was great. The bartender's were friendly and made great drinks. The view was amazing.
The grounds are beautiful. Hiking trails on site and an ocean view really display the beauty Santa Cruz has to offer.
This place is great, all the staff was very nice and pleasant.
There was a sauna, steam room, pool, jacuzzi, and high quality beds with blankets that aren't so thick! I went with my mom, brorher, and mom's boyfriend, it's truly a great place to be!
The spa was a great experience. The attention to detail was great before and after the treatment. However I am not sure it was worth the price. I could have received the same level of service at almost $100 less at another local spa.
Fun activities for kids, dog friendly, spacious rooms, yoga at 8am, heated pool and spa, room service, nice trails on the property, it is nice!
Great business retreat with a variety of conference rooms and good little bar. The outdoor patios is fairly nice as well with firepits.
Sadly, my wife and I were underwhelmed and felt cheated in regards to the amount of money that was spent at this resort and spa. For what we paid we were hoping to have an amazing experience and it was far from that.
Upon our arrival we were excited as Chaminade is tucked away and it s very quiet and the scenery is beautiful. Our check in experience wasn t fabulous as a gentlemen came running around the corner apologizing for the delay due to him and his buddies searching on google what the word Chaminade meant. I believe he gave us a room upgrade to a junior suite not sure what the difference was from my original room except there was a couch in the room which was offset in the corner no where near the tv so it couldn t be utilized during our stay. The shower was standard nothing fancy, the free soap/ shampoo was nothing fabulous which took forever to come out of the pumps on the wall not to mention did not leave us feeling clean.
The trails around the resort were ok except they were poorly marked and easy to run off course which made it a bit frustrating. After hiking all day we were looking forward to sitting in the hot tub to relax, big bummer the hot tub was warm and only half the jets were functioning.
The resort offers room service (we did
not order) but they fail to pick up trays so we had to walk by room service trays piling up on the floor across from our room everyday.
On our final day, we set up a couples massage and they were mediocre. My masseuse specifically asked me on what areas to focus on, yet she failed to focus on them at all and was very rushed towards the end of the massage. Her lotion pump was placed right by my ear so throughout the entire massage all I heard was her pumping lotion. At one point she had put so much lotion on my back that I was cold in the room. Once the massage was over I used the shower and it is not designed for tall people. I literally was squatting and bending over backwards just to wash my hair and wash away the excess lotion that was on my body.
So overall, what we were hoping to be a relaxing getaway for my wife s birthday turned into a blah stay wishing we went somewhere else.
Very nice resort with large hotel rooms. Property is large with multiple possible activities such as hiking, tennis, weight room, spa, pool and jacuzzi. Restaurant serves good food and has a terrace overlooking a downhill view to the ocean in the distance. Their website however is poor, with almost no photos or good descriptions of much of this. It isn't easy to choose rooms or plan activities based on this.
I would have given four stars were it not for the thin walls. Very comfortable and clean room. I love that they have plenty of lighting and plenty of power outlets. The grounds are beautiful. It would have been nice to have a microwave in the room.
Had some trouble with the first two rooms, but they were taken care of quickly. Beautiful view from the main building balcony. Recently renovated rooms have a fun new age style.
I attended a one day, offsite event at the resort. The resort was very nice, and the food they provided was high quality. They also provided refreshments and snacks throughout the event. Driving to the resort was a bit troublesome as it was elevated and hidden away. The views were nice and you could see the ocean from the balcony.
Great hospitality, room was clean. Do not recommend the onsite restaurant for dinner, service was slow and waitress was very distracted.
The sheets are so dirty that the exhaust fan is noisy! Others are good.
We had a corporate event here:
- Incredible views.
- Good conference rooms and event spaces.
- Solid buffet food and bar.
- The decor and rooms felt a bit older.
We booked our stay through Expedia, and honestly the photos and descriptions were a bit misleading. We booked a 2 Queen Jr. Suite with a "Living Room", which is more of an alcove seating area than Living Room. Our beds didn't have fitted sheets, just a larger flat sheet & pad tucked under the mattress. Yes the location & scenery is lovely, but I do not feel the rooms are up to par with pricing, especially since there was an additional "Amenities Fee" for Parking (which is also not assigned but first come first serve so you may end up having a small hike to your room), Spa, Pool, & rec center which I have to say is a bit underhanded since they slid the invoice under our door early in the morning. The beds were comfortable & the updated decor is great, just be sure to read ALL of the fine print before booking.
Stayed here for a night in Santa Cruz because my girlfriend and I wanted to take advantage of their patio dining area. Hostess was so rude to us and other guests we left without ever being seated. No one at the hotel seemed to care. A very unspectacular hotel, and that was before I dealt with the restaurant staff. We will not be back.
Ok resort, but definitely not a fancy or high end place.
ASK FOR SPA FEE TO BE WAIVED! They did it for me.
3 star hotel at 5 star prices. Hotel staff rude.
Asked to speak to manager several times, and was never contacted. Listened to water heater all night. Bait and switch with spa fees. Booked over the phone with zero mention of spa fee on top of room charge.
