It's a decent hotel. One step above a Holiday Inn. What it is not is a resort. Services are lacking. I ordered a cheese plate and wine for my arrival. It took two phone calls and 2 hours for it to arrive. When it did arrive the cheese was sweating and the wine was hot. The bed was too hard and the sheets were scratchy. The property itself was ok but nothing to write home about. Very unsatisfactory.

We came up here as a last resort for a family Christmas brunch. We called just about every resort in the county and we're turned away due to "Busy kitchen's". Two people from our party are vegan and the Chaminade pulled out every stop possible for them. Along with the food at the buffet, they also made a special meal just for them. It was beyond delicious. And that was just the food. The desert was even better. My hat's off to this place. Not only is it a marvelous spread, the atmosphere and location is second to none. Thank you John and Erika for the magnificent hospitality

Under major renovations so the experience was quite underwhelming compared to what we expected (and for the price we paid).
We were only notified a week before our stay that the entire main building was closed. At time of checkout the front desk said they would comp the $37 resort amenities fee for us, however I never saw the refund come through.
A week later, when I asked Lane at the front desk over the phone why I hadn t been refunded, she argued with me about whether I deserved the refund. I was totally blown away by how unprofessional she was.

Although the view is beautiful, the food and service left alot to be desired. It's the kind of place that gets booked for corporate events, but you wouldn't ever go there on your own. I would head to Hollin's House at Pasatiempo instead for an even better view and much better food.

Valet lost keys. Said they found it on floor of another car after searching everywhere. Like, someone could've drove away with my car keys. Everything was fine up until then but this mistake is a big deal and ruined the experience.

Really wanted this to be an above average escape. Nope. While my wife received a great spa treatment my son and I ordered lunch from the pool. An hour later we were starving - hangry starving. And the restaurant wouldn't answer the phone! We left and went to Santa Cruz for lunch. Disappointed.

The view is stunning! Plenty of front row tables on the patio. Quite romantic lighting and music. Great dinner with good food. Loved mixed drinks. Service can be a bit more friendlier, she might off been just in a sad mood. Otherwise, fast and smooth experience. We sat outside with our drinks for a while, just enjoying a beautiful sunset. Lovely evening. Definitely will be back!

Dated place. Full of Yuppies. Parking spaces tight. Spa options are expensive. Pool was over run with kids. Our neighbors were having a party till late at night. "Quiet time" is from 10 p.m to 8 a.m. and after 11 p.m. called front desk who did nothing to quiet them down. It is located a couple of miles from ocean and night life.

First off it should be noted that i had a wonderful time. Everything included its a great place, but some aspects of the place are better than others.
The room was kinda small but really comfy. The bathroom was tiny and the was only a sliding door between yourself and the bedroom. But it was very comfortable if kinda pricey. The food was good but once again a little expensive for what you get, but the view more than makes up for it.... its amazing. The grounds are beautiful and to me it more than made up for the cost. The staff was very nice and i will stay there again... soon. I would suggest you try it out. You will enjoy it

No towels at the pool. The pool area was in disarray constantly. You could hear every footstep of the guests upstairs. The shampoo bottles are locked to the shower wall. Getting shampoo out of the contains is like watching a slug cross the sidewalk. Whoever runs the place is clearly interested in making money only and not putting money back into the resort. The melon at breakfast was amazing.

Very nice place, but service staff was woefully unprepared for a hard time. We asked for extra linens and were never informed that it would not be possible due to a staff emergency. In fact, when asking if we could get these linens 45 minutes after asking, I was hung up on despite a polite inquiry. I understand that if staff has a medical emergency that we can't get what we asked for but getting hung up on without explanation is really hard to excuse.

This place needs a lot of help on preparing the rooms for guests. We had a few problems, it seems because we were not members. The only person who was completely helpful in everyway was Shane. Thank you Shane. Because of you our trip was saved.

Do NOT be Fooled by the Pictures. It is no where near a 4 star hotel/resort. Rooms need a big upgrade. The entire resort felt like an outdated apartment complex. Bathroom does not have a door/lock! The pool looked awful. Parking is small and based on whatever slot is open. We checked in and immediately checked out the same day!! That s how HORRIBLE it was!

Rooms are all very roomy and put together with a nice comfortable style with a new modern design. Great staff as well, they are always very polite and helpful. Awesome resort to stay at!!!

In our room the bed was super comfy, and we never felt like we were sleeping in a "hotel bed." It was really great. The wrap-around couch in our room, however, had some of the "leather" fabric missing from the right arm and needs to have been replaced quite a while ago. In the hotel restaurant, we found the food to be absolutely delicious---we had lunch on the patio right after we'd unpacked, and our waiter recommended the perfect chardonnay for our meal. We had breakfast outside the next morning, and everything was once again quite marvelous. Also, when our waiter was getting ready to serve us our requested fresh fruit, she discovered to her horror that one of her hairs had fallen onto the fruit. She immediately whisked it away and brought us fresh fruit, this time from the breakfast buffet! This was really going "above and beyond." The gals at the front desk were all very friendly and it was from one of them that we learned about the cute blue taxi that might be available to pick us up and take us to Shadowbrook for dinner. We were very grateful for that tip, because who wants to go to a nice dinner, have wine, and then drive? I'd also like to comment that I left my Kindle Fire power cord/charger in our room by accident, and was told by the front desk staff that they would whisk it to me as soon as possible. They were true to their word. My husband and I really appreciated our stay here. Thank you very much!

extremely disappointed in this hotel. we are booked an upcoming stay at the hotel over tksgiving holiday, and were looking forward to having thanksgiving dinner at their restaurants. but after a week of calling the hotel to make a reservation and multiple times on multiple days getting a ring with no pick up (or a voice mail) we finally got someone who said they were fully booked a week ago --- (the first time we called!). you can't make a rsvp online either, since tksigving dinner is at 5pm and their system only accepts rsvps for later than that. we also called to tell them that, they said it was a bug, and never got back. essentially we've booked three days at this resort which was totally irresponsive and an information blackhole when trying to make a reservation for dinner. i don't even care at this point if one week ago, it was already booked up, but what a time sink to constantly call them and waste my time - terrible process and service. i'm going to this hotel over thanksgiving holding my nose.

A quiet retreat in the hills of Santa Cruz off of Soquel Ave. The pool is heated to 80 degrees so even early morning swims are comfortable. The View Restaurant is beautifully located with forested acerage in the foreground and the Pacific Ocean in the distance. There are tennis courts and hiking trails. I will definitely return!

We went there for a two day vacation and it was great! The restaurant has a sitting area with a beautiful view and the food was delicious. They have a hiking trail, tennis court and pool which are all so refreshing and relaxing. In the morning, we worked out at the fitness center for about an hour and it was so clean and had all the equipments we needed. The spa was also enjoyable. Great breakfast and wonderful staff! We were so happy with our stay here and I highly recommend it!!!

Great rooms, close to town without being right in the mess of it. Beautiful oak tree setting with plenty of sunshine on the hilltop. A nice pool, with poolside service (when you call down to restaurant from the poolside phone). Great spot for families or for an intimate getaway.

Great views! Rooms are spacious. I was there for a large reunion and they were able to accommodate us. Quite pricey, but it was nice. Limited cell phone service, which is either a plus or a negative depending on what you're there for

I travel a lot and I have stayed at many hotels/resorts in my life all over the world. This hotel is no where near a 4 star hotel/resort status. I would expect a 4-star hotel to have at least dual pane windows, and bed sheeting that doesn't make so much noise. We did not sleep all night due to the noise. Rooms need to be upgraded. The resort feels like an old apartment complex. It's hard to find Parking. We paid $350 + resort fee for the night, I am not sure what they are even charging the resort fee for when they can not even provide any services or a parking spot. The trail that goes around the property is not maintained and needs a lot of upkeep. Don't be fooled by the pictures, It is not what's being shown on the photos. There is no elevator, you will have to carry your luggage up the stairs. This hotel is not worth $400 a night, I would rather pick motel 6 over this place. This was our first and last time at this place. NEVER AGAIN!

Great staff, nice location, old and sad construction and decor. Our suite had the feeling of minimal investment for the last 20 or 30 years. I found myself apologizing repeatedly to my wife for choosing this place. Never again.

A lovely resort in the hills above Santa Cruz. I came for a business retreat. Fabulous food - try the teriyaki salmon salad! Staff were friendly and helpful, would definitely return with my family.
