We have been to the spa several times. Alway enjoy the relaxing atmosphere, unfortunately the hot tub was to cold to use. I requested that the heat be turned up but it never happened. It made our anniversary afternoon alot less enjoyable.

Excellent location for a relaxing weekend away. Nice hiking trail around the premises. We didn't have a chance to make use of the pool or tennis courts, but those looked like fun, too!
Nice resort. Visited this place for a corporate training event. The new rooms are pretty nice but feel a bit sparse. Restaurant food is okay but not amazing.
I was looking forward to staying at Chaminade based on a recommendation from a friend. When I made the reservation, it seemed a little pricey for what I was reserving, but I went ahead anyway based on my friend s recommendation.
The grounds are beautiful, but the rooms are not well kept. It feels like they were last remodeled in the early 90's. That wouldn t be too bad except that ours was not very clean. Carpets were not well vacuumed, kitchenette was not clean. Also the service wasn t good. Waited a LONG time for housekeeping to bring additional towels, etc.
I don t often complain about hotels. Typically, I try to give the benefit of the doubt. But in this case, because it was so high priced, I expected it to be nicer. Had it been half the rate, I would probably not be writing this lukewarm review. I hope the hotel is monitoring their social media so they can improve.
We did a Christmas brunch here and it was great! Awesome omelette bar, champagne included, very friendly staff, and the views are great. I will be keeping an eye out for other special brunches they do.
This place says its dog friendly, but that is not the truth. They charge $150.00 for a dog to stay at there very overrated facility. We were willing to pay this outrageous fee but they still refused us. The staff we were working with was completely incompetent. We will never go near this place again!!!
Thanksgiving buffet dinner - good quality food and engaging wait team. Beautiful view of the ocean. Dining room was cold - need to do a better job on insulation / heating of the large dining area. Natural setting of the hotel is pleasing - I saw deer tracks in the volleyball court sand.
I came into the Chaminade today , 12-7-19 for a business party upon arrival for the party valet was packed . We were pretty far back in line but what I could see was valets sitting around do nothing at the podium and it looked like a dysfunctional mess , I ve been here multiple times and never seen anything like it. As were waiting out no where a valet comes running up behind us soaked and opens the door asking if we re here for a party I reply with yes and he Insits on getting us tags and umbrellas and says he s sorry for the mad house then proceeds to sprint upfront and sprint back with 2 umbrellas and a vet tag. I quickly ask what s going on as I ve never seen it this bad and unorganized. He says it s a different valet company and he s the only one working for the Chaminade . This young mans name was Brandon . He was very respectful polite and knew what he was doing. Even went above and beyond with the umbrellas. As I approached the front it was confusion and yelling WICH IS IM NO WAY HOW A COMPANY SHOILD BE RAN! I walked by the podium and heard a kid working for the other company Wich is Santa Cruz valet cussing while talking with another valet sitting there doing nothing during a rush! I will be in contact with Kevin the GM to discuss this . I will not be returning to the Chaminade until this matter is fixed . Upon departure point the valets couldn t find my key 3 of them were looking for it clueless and the owner of the company Patric was assuring me it s somewhere I stood around for 20 minutes as they looked for my Porsche key it was very concerning having a missing key for a 55,000 car . Out of nowhere the same valet that works the the Chamiande (Brandon) comes running back up to the front the inform him and he talks to me very politely and professionally unlike the other valets he looks and finds my key in 2 seconds as he s the one who parked it and comes up with the car. Kuddos to this amazing valet! Although my whole expierence was very terrible. He was very good. He should be promoted! Or a pay raise ! I hope the Chaminade can see that this company is doing them only harm and no good! If anyone else has had expierences with this Santa Cruz valet company please message me!
Came to check out the resort for a retreat. The property is very relaxing and cozy. Great amenities, such as fitness center, tennis courts and swimming pool.
Beautiful hotel and conference center in Santa Cruz located above Dominican Hospital. 152ish rooms and 2 restaurants up from. Spa & fitness center, tennis courts, hiking trails, pool & hit tub. Staff is friendly and attentive.
On our way to Chaminade Resort we drove past an industrial park filled with medical offices and then a cemetery, which is foreboding because just up the road customer service is dead at the Chaminade.
The site is surrounded by majestic trees and the rooms are well designed, presenting a lovely facade for pictures. But upon checking in, there's no valet outside though everything is marked valet parking and the front desk is hidden in the in the back, where staff sulk around.
Especially confusing was a drastic change in pricing, which I called ahead about: a woman told me to call back to talk to the manager and then when I called back would not let me talk to the manager, saying I m so sorry. There s really nothing I can do. But is that possible? Can anyone be "really sorry" while also completely unwilling to help whatsoever?
While the design of the hotel is lovely, the walls are paper thin. We heard people above us all night, aware of every footstep. Our room (the one that couldn't be upgraded) was by the door in the hallway, so we heard everyone in the building as they came and went. Given the disinterest of the staff, I didn't even bother to ask for a new room at that point, even though we were paying more for our room than any of the current listings.
At least there s a pool. But there are no towels at the pool. So be prepared to walk about 100 yards to the reception area or back to your room. By that time it had fully sunken in the Chaminade is supposedly in the business of hospitality but really not about customer service. It's really not about you at all.
Setup in a very serene location this hotel gave the needed relaxation to me n my husband. Though the check-in time is 4pm, our room was ready by 10 am. The room was neat, nice and spacious. A crib for our was set up before we reached (usually at other places u have to call once you check in, even if you have placed request while booking). Room service was pretty prompt. They setup a microwave in my room to warm baby bottles for free! The outdoor heated pool was our favorite (pool fun in winter outdoors). I cut a star because they charge $5 addtnl. each time you order food in - room service. The bed was prickly, we spread the comforter on the bed and slept on it. Guess worn out feather mattress.
Nice room. Bed very comfortable. AC not quite up to the challenge of a sunny room. Otherwise, nice. Take advantage of valet parking! Otherwise, you may end up with quite a hike.
The view from the restaurant was very nice. The food was ok as well. We ordered the club sandwich and the chopped salad. The service, however, was extremely slow. I think they were really understaffed.
Big disappointment,.toilet needed plunging as soon as we walked.into.the room, the hallway smelled and the power.went out when my girlfriend.used there blow.dryer. They charge a spa fee whether you use it or not. Won't be going back for sure.
As a whole the resort is nice. I think I would like it better if ibwas staying as a guest. I'm here with a group for a sort of mini conference. While the accommodations are nice, the whole event seems to have been a bit disorganized. Thus could have been in part to the event organizers for the group, but little things having to do with the venue seem to just be a little haphazard. Just my experience.
This is an older hotel on a golf course property. The rooms were spacious and had been nicely renovated to a high standard. We stayed during the Christmas break. There is a $35 resort fee, which we knew about ahead of time, however I felt this was not justified, as the amenities offered were similar to other properties which do not add fees, also no food was available during our particular stay due to the timing of the visit. It is a beautiful property, well away from the noise of the city, and I would stay here again.
We go there a couple of times a year for different events. Normally it's really great with great service great food and you really feel like you're taken care of. This year though it seems they need to hire more staff to get back up to speed
Probably my favorite hotel in the Santa Cruz area. Adore the facilities. Everything is clean and gorgeous. Great pool, well stocked gym, kind staff. If you're here for their buffets you also won't be disappointed. I didn't try their spa stuff out, but I've heard good things
Usually the staff is very good but I was charged for the Taco plate when I took 3 bites of a friend s taco. I can understand their frustration when people don t pay for the taco bar or buy drinks. I almost always buy the taco bar and always buy at least two drinks. In fact I did last week even though I wasn t hungry because I wanted to support this venue. I was accosted by the manager to buy the taco bar for my two bites. I paid for it but never filled the plate or got a beverage. I should have just I had broken the plate on the spot. I left immediately and won t be coming return. BY THE WAY, my credit card number was used fraudulently three weeks ago and I assured the credit card company the credits for the Chaminade were mine but later I thought to check all of my expenditures and I found one for $3.61 at Chaminade. I have never spent that little there and there isn t anything you can buy for that little. Credit card thieves often try to use a small amount to see if they can get away with it. So I alerted the credit card company that it probably started tbere. It might have been a visitor with a card reader. I really trust the bartenders there like Kevin but they also often have visiting staff. Don t really think it is staff but I would like to know if this has happened to anyone else.
One of the best places to have breakfast they have a chef making omelettes your way and the best eggs and Potatoes not that affordable $20 dollars per person
My wife and I were looking for a place to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We were looking for a family friendly location we hadn't been to. A friend from Santa Cruz mentioned he had been to a fancy wedding at a magical resort in the hills above Soquel. We looked into Chaminade and easily decided to book. Upon our arrival we found a well layed out and attractive facility. The check in was easy and there is lots of signage and sanitizer to keep us safe. We had a sunset dinner on the patio at THE VIEW restraunt. Tomorrow we will venture out to see some of the local sites.
All doors to all rooms slam shut, it's terrible. Loud noises and vibrations throughout every building from A/C or heat being turned on from room to room. If you are looking forward to NEVER sleeping while on vacation at about $400 per night, this is the place for you. Average meal for one person is about $30. The food is bad too, strange folks waiting on you too. Overall this place is a glorified wasteland.
Chaminade Resort sits at the top of a hill on 300 acres of beautiful, well maintained grounds with spectacular views of Santa Cruz and the Monterey Bay and Peninsula. Rooms were refurbished about 4 years ago; quirky decorative themes and colors (abacus headboard!) add interest and most rooms have patios or balconies. A large pool and recreation area is great for kids and the resort has many pet-friendly rooms but parking can be problematic when the resort is full. You'll find a space but be prepared for a bit of a walk.
The restaurant, bar and lobby were renovated in March 2020 and feature two large fireplace seating areas, one adjacent to the lobby and another next to the View restaurant and bar. The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating with expansive views of the Bay. The menu was pandemic-limited but all dishes were creative, well-prepared, and reasonably priced for a destination resort. The staff was uniformly pleasant, professional and helpful, even tracking down a magazine I misplaced and delivering it to our room.
Overall, a solid 4.5 star resort - we'll be adding it to our "getaway list!"
Beautiful facility at a beautiful location. I ve been here 3x in the last few years and they ve never disappointed. The team is always on the ball and eager to help. The food is delicious, the rooms are comfortable, and the views are spectacular. I highly recommend staying here - especially for a work conference.
Beautiful views, nice rooms, friendly staff, and a fun bar in a place that was easy to find. We even saw deer come onto the property. The food was good but didn't blow me away. Some items were better than others; the cheese platter was really good, and the vanilla cheesecake was awesome. The wine selection is a little limited. This was a great venue for a corporate type of off-site.
So I called to make a reservation and the corporate office was very nice, I had one question about their outside pool and she directed me to the desk, took 4 tries for them to answer and the front desk lady was rather unpleasant when I asked if they had a swim up bar, which they don t and that s ok but then said bye and hung up on me, guess I will be staying somewhere else when we visit.
Room was nice, Valet lost my keys for an hour or so. Staff was friendly but the hotel double booked for my first night and we had to get a different hotel. Couldn't change the hotel all together due to having a work leadership retreat, 6 rooms and a conference room scheduled for te following day. For my trouble I got a -10$ discount for each room.
Wonderfully appointed and quiet rooms, beautiful property, workout facility and pool are very nice. Complimentary destination charging for Tesla is a real Plus
I was only visiting a friend, so I stayed at the pool area and it is a beautiful place. Good sized hot tub, heated pool!! And the private cabana's looked awesome if that's something you'd like to indulge in. Highly recommend!!!
