It's very nice here, but I was expecting more based on their marketing. Feels a little dated, and we had a handful of issues (e.g. they lost our reservation, they sort of forgot about us at the restaurant, etc.) that made the service seem not quite as good as it could have been.

Great location. Right of the highway, up on the hill. Beautiful place, path with eucalyptus trees. Great service. Valet parking. Nice restaurant inside. Rooms are big. Clean and neat. Overall great hotel in Santa Cruz area.

Just had the absolute worst experience at the spa, after 17 faithful years as a client. Left with burns to my face and was told different stories about what products were used on me. You say you hope to get another chance to show me great customer service, but I will never return again. I gave the Spa staff the opportunity help me, and they did not. Too little, too late.

Staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. Upon chk in, they gave directions to room with a map. No further info on amenities. Room is dated, uninviting. Tub is tiny and stained. Spa facilities r ok, gym is the only part that is worth chking out. The staff shockingly bad at spa. My facial products were stolen from the locker room while I was in the shower and staff barely woke up enough to acknowledge theft. Restaurant has decent outdoor seating with ok view and there is a bar. Food disappointing. Outdoor trail easy to access and maintained. Outdoor pool hot tub ok but dated.its a decent priced room if u need a place to stay but not somewhere to go for s getaway or romantic weekend. U will not feel indulged or treated with any special attention. And overall ambience is cheap- needs-renovation feel. And the staff appear to be r poorly trained students forced into labor

The only off thing was a small hole in my pillowcase. The staff was friendly, the restaurant delicious, swimming pool nice. Beach volleyball, tennis courts, hiking...the resort is lovely and beautiful to explore. The beds were comfy, the rooms were sleek and modern and the patio with a Forest view is so relaxing.

For the price was are paying each night, I would expect the rooms to be of higher quality and have more furnishings than they do. The room can definitely use some updating, and especially if it's meant for work events, one would expect there to at least be a real desk in the room instead of a TV dinner table to use as a desk. The beds are comfortable though.

The people that helped me the first night were exceptional, I asked to move rooms due to noise. And they moved me which was so sweet and I really appreciated it. All I wanted to do was relax and sleep, which made me an outlier surrounded by families and older folks enjoying the resort. Chaminade has always been this shining beacon atop the hills in Santa Cruz where a lucky few can marry, eat and celebrate. I have gone over the years and I was very excited for a night's stay, especially after not sleeping for a week due to a move. So the hotel room was perfect, the bed comfortable, shower warm with superb pressure and I think the highlight would a million percent be the restaurant. They were gracious, kind and the food was superb. They even had STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING which I thought I would never have again outside of the UK. It was life changing, so a must.

But the only disappointment I experienced at the Chaminade was calling back about a normal charge I had gotten. I wish I could be impervious to tone and aggravation, but the person did not seem to keen to be talking with me. It was a shame and something that put a shadow on my experience.

Overall I would recommend the Chaminade for families who want to play in the pool or hike outside.

Beautiful area and rooms, off the beaten path, all the amenities one could ask for. Main problems were the thermostat didn't seem to work and there were no directions to the ice machine. Room service was delicious and prompt, WiFi was included, pool, hot tub, hiking trails, comfy bathrobe... Overall very lovely, would definitely book again.

The website makes the place look fantastic, but the overall experience is about 2 stars. it's also a bit loud there, so if you are looking for a peaceful setting, this might disappoint. The breakfast buffet is terrible. The hiking trail is nice though. It's about a 1 hour walk and quite pretty.

Can't comment on the rooms, but came to the conference rooms/restaurant for a holiday party. Thought the servers were very friendly, a comfortable and festive atmosphere, and not over-priced. I would come here again for a meal and a drink by the fire pits!

Stayed here numerous times and love it. Quiet, great for walks in the 200 acre site. Heated pool is great in winter I can still train as I travel from Ireland to here twice a year. Jezzel a great manager who has helped me a lot with multiple bookings.

Generally clean, but there's a lack of attention to detail in the upkeep of the property and the service. Feels like they're doing enough to keep up appearances but are not making any extra effort. Those with a sharp eye will see what I am talking about.

I have heard many great things about this beautiful hideaway. It gives you the feeling of being up there in the trees and so close to nature, with all these fun and exciting amenities. We decided to spend a night here to unplug and unwind. I haven't been to the restaurant and spa, yet. But those views are EVERYTHING. A few things need upgrading and updating. But all in all, a great place to get away and breathe after a day at the beach or the boardwalk.

Full service resort just a short drive from Santa Cruz beach. This property is large and has a few different clusters of rooms. Rooms are clean, modern and well kept. Some rooms face the woods in the back. There is a swimming pool but it was very crowded during our stay. The large restaurant has lovely views of the woods as well, and a great Sunday champagne brunch. Overall a very nice family weekend spot. #kidfriendly #letsguide

Nice place for a Honeymoon. I did have some issues with the room, the robe was quite itchy. But I do have to say, if you stay there, make sure you take advantage of the weekend Bunch. Yum!

The resort was OK. Nothing spectacular and found the rooms to be very simple and clean. The bathroom did not have a hair dryer and the bath tub seemed to be at least 10 years old. When I think of a resort, I think of well-lit bathrooms and lush towels and high pressure shower heads. But nevertheless, resort was clean and the people were super nice. Would I go back? Maybe... but why pay so much when I can get the Marriott to do the same? The resort is the epitome of average.

Horrible service and rude staff!! I reserved a hotel room for the weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday. We drove 2 hours to get here. Upon arrival they informed us it would be $35/day for "service fees", for simple wi-fi and other amenities usage. They recommended Woodstock for food delivery, which took 3 hours to arrive! Also a crying baby kept us up all night as well as the loud people running back and forth on the floor above us. The following morning we ordered breakfast for 2 (each order contained, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of bacon, shreds of hash brown and orange juice- they of course forgot the croissants) these two small meals added up to $70!! (with an additional $10 "room service charge". About an hour later, a staff worker pounded on our door and asked what time we would be checking out. I told her we had paid for an additional night at check-in. Later that night, we got back to the hotel and our key card was deactivated. We called the front office and the woman who unlocked the door was extremely rude and unapologetic.
From a YOUNG, ETHNIC couple's point of view we feel that we were targeted by our appearance. We were not treated like the other guests.
After spending a total of $560 for a 2 Queen Bed for 2 nights, we expected to be treated with RESPECT and not taken advantage of.
I do NOT recommend this "resort" to anyone!! Especially those of color.

Lovely Location. Kind, attentive staff. Rooms are a bit off though. No desks, make working difficult, and the frosted bathroom doors make things awkward if you are sharing a room with someone on a slightly different sleep schedule.

No in room, on demand movies and bed isn't comfortable. Definitely not worth the price. The staff is why this isn't a 1 star review. Head to the Portola hotel and spa, same price and way way way better experience

Stayed here for a company offsite. The resort, food and facilities were good. However, I had a frustrating and terrible experience in getting some of my Amazon purchases shipped to this resort. In spite of having my name on the box, the hotel was not responsible and two of my shipments were given off to someone else from my company. The things I ordered never reached me. The conference planning manager from the hotel apologized. She said she will "compensate" for the mistake by paying but never got back to me or bothered to pay. The end result was money spent on the shipment that never made it to me and a terrible experience. Simply disappointing.

Update on 12 November 2016:
Had back and forth email communication with the Chaminade team. They liaised with the person to whom they handed off my items and got replacement items shipped to me.

I can't speak to the lodgings because the only time I stayed in one was several years ago and I didn't have a great experience, but I feel like they've done some updating so maybe it's better now. My review is based on brunch. The brunch is pretty spectacular with lots of options, fresh and hot food. I've been a couple of times and the service has been extraordinary one time and the other time not so much. What makes this special is the ability to sit out on the patio on a beautiful day overlooking scenic vistas of Santa Cruz county. Well worth it for a leisurely brunch!

The room was nice. The room's balcony was very peaceful, and looked out over the trees. My one complains is that I could hear the occupants in the room above walking around. The restaurant has a lovely view of the ocean. The plumb creme brulee was delightful.

The resort was lovely and peaceful with attentive staff during a busy summer holiday time. The room service breakfast was delicious and prompt and the rooms were spacious and relaxing with private patios.

I made two room reservations (463870336 & 463870952) a week before arrival and my son also had a room reservation with the same last name (our family had 3 total). Although I was able to get two rooms upon check-in, there was only one room reserved in my name and one for my son upon arrival. This resulted in one of our three rooms being fairly far away from the rest of the family (403 to 708). The reservations for my two rooms said "Forest View 2 Queens," and I had an upgrade certificate which I presented at check-in. The view for all three rooms was on a parking lot side. Other than some disappointment about the view in the rooms due to the misleading or inaccurate reservation description and one missing reservation upon check-in, the rest of our stay was pleasant and relaxing. The staff was courteous and considerate and the property was well maintained.

This place has a lot of character! Other people saying this place is 'dated' is a bit snooty.
The front desk staff are friendly & professional. They made a few mistakes, but resolved them quickly.
The views are breathtaking! You got a patio overlooking the Redwoods.
Room and pool service is fantastic, just dial the phone and wala -- food delivered. The upcharge can be a bit steep though...
Bar closes at 11 PM and make sure you check out before Easter Sunday, this place turns into a madhouse.

It's in the mountains, so it's quiet and the facilities are very well maintained.

This was a great hostoric hotel with very nice rooms. The gym was full size with tons of equipment, a heated pool and lots of space to walk and hike. The restaurant has a nice view as well. Very family and kid friendly.

We had our wedding here! Angela was our coordinator and we had an absolute blast! The venue is so beautiful, our guests had an amazing night. The planning was excellent and comes with a large amount of variety to customize how you like. The food was delicious.

We had our reception in the upstairs ballroom and it was the perfect size for our 100 person wedding, with plenty of room for extras like photo booths!

Angela was an absolute life saver and her experience handling these events really shows in how smooth the wedding went. She did so much behind the scenes and we cannot sing enough praise for her.

BOTTOM LINE: we were not satisfied with our experience and do NOT recommend, nor will we return.... POSITIVES: large heated pool/hot tub was clean and stocked with towels. The gym was good size and had decent equipment, plenty of hot water in the rooms. NEGATIVES: where do I begin? It was filthy, in need of repair and was not worth the money . We paid in advance for a $167 junior suite with forest view; sounds nice, right? Not even close! After hotel tax, resort fee and upfront charge for incidentals, we were out of pocket $244 Before We Even Arrived we hadn t even left town to get there! WTH?! All of these hidden charges did not start things off well; just be up front about it. Upon arrival: there was no help offered for our bags, there was blue duct tape on the outside doors that didn't close properly (got maintenance?) and creaky/uneven/echoing hallway to our room that was our first impression. The room s carpet was filthy--it turned your feet black [I have photos]. There were not nearly enough towels and one of the light sockets didn t work to charge my camera not very suite-like, IMO . That s when we began to read the other online reviews. OVERALL: My guess is they only cater to large corporate clients and that s how they stay in business the Men s Warehouse company-getaway was arriving the day we left. Hey, if I worked for a big company and didn t have to pay out of pocket for anything, I might think this was an OK place with a good location and nice pool area to stay drunk at all day but for a family or romantic getaway destination, or even to simply relax in cleanliness? FORGET IT; do what we did and drive to Monterey/Carmel area and read online reviews before you book. Thank you for reading.

Not sure what happened here. I'm very familiar with this resort and the service is not what it used to be. 3 stars for the beautiful location and grounds. But, from the "absent" valet, check in girl rolling eyes, then apparently they allow non guests to use the pool so it was swarming with families and not relaxing at all, then the horrible service at Linwoods in the evening, that caused us to walk out and go into town for an amazing dinner elsewhere. I will not go into all the details of that, but I will say it's very disappointing, I was expecting a different experience based on my past visits. What happened Chaminade? Also be warned that they charge $150 pet fee, outrageous.

The rooms were very cute and had a nice deck with a view from each room. They have a hot tub and a nice, heated, salt water pool. I was happy with the room and the quality of the bath products (C.O. Bigalow shampoo, conditioner, body wash) that we were provided. Would stay again.
