Love this zoo. Loved it when I was a kid and now I love bringing my kids to it. This year we visited the treetop adventure. It was worth the long line. My kids had a blast, climbing and being up high. Visiting this zoo will take up your entire day if you want to visit all it has to offer. My kids also enjoys the extras like the butterfly house and merry go round. They have a huge cafeteria, with some vegetarian or non-meat selection.

To see a Zoo in the middle of NYC is something that make you fell that you moved from one Zoo to another lol Now seriously, this place is the best. In the middle of the concrete Jungle, you get a chance to see animals from exotic places, and to forget for a few hours the traffic and the running people. For me personally, it is a little sad to see animals inside cages, but still, they seem to get nice treatment. Kept secret, go as early as possible, before it get crowded, it is beautiful and peaceful.
One of the most formidable and fruitful zoo s in New York. Of course, it s important to visit during the right seasons, yet always an eccentric environment and new animal species rotating seasonally. A must go to with family and friends.
A pricey outing but enjoyable. Decent enough tukka, we really enjoyed the lions, although the tigers were shy. The world of birds was fascinating but for spectacle, the reptile house was the best. The kids absolutely loved the carousel.
Cost too much money. #ImBroke This zoo should not be ranked as high as it is. It cost close to $150 to enter the zoo but if you do not upgrade for $25 per person you will not be able to enjoy the full attractions. They do have alot of different animals though. Last, they zoo is small as s*** we circled the whole thing in 25 minutes. #ilovephillyZOO
The largest zoo I have been too, and they have their own parking lot. As a member for $20 you can add parking for the season which pays for itself the first trip. I usually do about half the park in one day and come back later in the year to do the second half. The list of activities available for the family is tremendous and worth every bit of the ticket price.
This place has so many good reviews that it doesn't even need my review - but what the heck! This zoo is so huge that I don't think it's humanly possible to do the entire zoo in one day. I guess you just have to prioritize on what you want to see the most. I'll start your prioritizing with my favorites:
The most unique, not your everyday zoo things include:
A great, indoor aviary with lots of exotic birds
A Madagascar area with many interesting species of primates, etc. (From what I remember it had an odd smell in there - you get used to it in a few minutes).
They have two other aviaries as well and they aren't as big (Dang they have a lot of birds there!)
The Wild Asia Monorail is a MUST DO because not only is it relaxing to just sit and be in the shade, but you get to see a lot of animals you can't see otherwise - once when I rode the monorail there was a Red Panda in a tree right at the same level as the monorail - so cute! :)
The Mouse House is great - they used to have a nocturnal building (which was one of the ultimate things there) but it closed due to budget cuts so they have some of the animals from the nocturnal exhibit in the Mouse House plus the cute little mice
By the way - make sure to ALWAYS be on the lookout for freely roaming peacocks walking around - they come pretty close to you because they probably get fed by the guests (even though you're not supposed to
The best place ever!! Since 2010, I have membership! I will keep my membership every year. Me and my kids love there to see animals and have fun of there!
Had a good time at Holiday Lights. S'mores smelled great, funnel cakes soft and crisp, yummy hot chocolate while experiencing the pretty decorations and lights. There was ice sculpturing and a show for the little ones.
My cousin and friends used to spend our Saturday's at the adventure filled Bronx Zoo.....what wonderful childhood memories! No fears. No problens. Just good clean fun. We would also go with our families on Easter Sunday; with our new Easter duds incuding our Easter bonnets and stroll the zoo and the connecting Botanical Gardens...how innocent it was. . I was very lucky to live in such a grand city...New York, New York...tough city...wonderful upbringing.
Wonderful holiday light show. The place was decorated nicely for the holidays. Eventhough its cold and most of the animals were hybernating, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming
This was one of the best experiences of my life. The wait in front of the gate was super fast and the staff was very friendly. The first thing we went too was the bird sanctuary it was amazing so many birds and my favorite animal ever a puffin. Some off the other enclosures are open the birds fly over you I ve never seen anything like this in my life so unique and beautiful, next was the sea lions they were so awesome they were playing around swimming it was so cute too see the small one.The bison we saw next we very big they were scary they were taller than us some of them and there baby was so cute taking shelter under mommy. Then my second favorite part of the zoo the Sea Bird Aviary they had so many flamingos the pink color is so pretty and then we went inside their were these little birds just sitting on the rocks and they were adorable and then the African penguins were swimming in their little groups and kept popping up for air. Then we went and ate and the staff were so kind and the wait there was not long.I got too feed the birds that were flying around with some of my French fries so awesome, the food was good too.The reptile room was next so many lizards all over and frogs, even chubby toads they were so close to the glass you could see them perfectly. We then saw the sad part about the polar bear having to be put down it was so sad but he was old. Then we went to the petting zoo with the extra pass we had and the animals were so close and we didn t have to wait at all. Then we went to the butterfly area was a little disappointed it was just a couple of monarchs flying around but the lab with all the cacoons was cool. They had some cool barbecue going on with free food it was so fun they had music and good food,Next was the other area with all the gorillas that you need the pass the gorillas were so up close and funny and the lemurs they had with them were swinging around like crazy and it was hilarious I was watching those gorillas and lemurs for a long time they were so interesting. The African area was awesome the giraffes were so tall and their print was beautiful, the giraffes were also very well fed.The gazelles were so pretty how they prance around their area so gracefully. We then did the monorail which took us around we got to see all these different kind of deer and the hippo which was being sprayed he looked so lazy it was funny and It was interesting to see they had so many different scientists explain everything.and the cheetah was so cute sleeping and I loved it,definitely buy the pass it s surprisingly cheap for what you get too see and learn,This is the best place in New York you definitely need to go it will be an amazing experience.
Beautiful Zoo! Lot's to see but be prepared to do a lot of walking!! Couldn't make it through every exhibit in one day but the Gorilla exhibit was an awesome experience!!!
This hotel should be called not a soon but sanatorium for animals....it s great for animals but horrible for parents with kids... Animals placed as far as possible from visitors....the only close that you will see are dozens of tiny shops ... I saw zoos in multiple countries and cities but this one is the worst one for visitors...
So three stars because I went on Wednesday ( free day) I hardly saw animals I guess they were saving them for other days. The zoo was very clean just don't on a Wed
Great place for a stroll and quick shopping center. Can be used for all kinds of food. Not sure just how much you are willing to spend but prices are ok. If you need need anything all you have to do is ask and the staff is willing to help you out. Help is just a few steps away from you.
I was here 40 years ago. When they had the sky tram. The trees have gotten so much taller which explains why they had to remove the sky tram. It's still the largest Zoo in the US and the world. Membership is well worth it if you and your Family enjoy the animals here. A one day trip is not enough to learn or study about the animals. We've been here 4 times this summer and will definitely go back again. The IDNYC card gives you 1 year free membership for adults (1 time offer only). When that membership expires, you're offered an annual discount membership. Worth it! There are camel rides for the kids and the Asia Monorail. The treetops Adventure is one the kids favorite too.
The proceeds go to WCS to help save Earth's animals.
We love the zoo! There is something for everyone. The kids love the children's zoo and the butterfly garden. We all love the gorillas. We got a membership so we try and go once a week
Still lots of fun even during covid. The nature trek is open and the children's zoo still has the option to feed animals. High touch interactive parts are closed unfortunately but makes sense.
What a great zoo. I been there when i was a little boy. It's has alot of animals and on every wednesday it is free and i alwaysgoes there with my family and friends.
Had an amazing time here came to see the butterfly Garden which was set to be open which was said on the website but wasn t bummed but I made the best of it and had an amazing time here. I would definitely recommend that you wait till it s hotter to visit as to many of the animals are missing around this type of cold weather
How can you not love this Zoo. Have been going since I was a child and it is almost magical. What a great day with the kids. Things are different during the pandemic. You have a scheduled time and can pre-pay for parking. I actually hope that does not change since is less crowded. Food was pretty fair given limited options. Park was clean and had one way signs for people.
The Bronx Zoo is always an awesome place to visit. However, if you are paying so much money for an ice coffee, they should at least let you know before you make your purchase that the don t have any straws or lids.
Absolutely amazing place, plan on spending a good amount of time here. We were there over 5 hours and didn't get through more than half of it. That's a good thing btw, more to see next time.
I had a wonderful experience. On paid days it is the best. You don't feel it is overcrowded and you can enjoy each exhibit and take plenty of pictures. On Wedsday it is free and loads of people go, expect long lines and feel overwhelmed. I did not fully enjoy my visit on the Wedsday I went but highly recommend paying and going another day. Pickup the full package deal for special exhibits and rides because it is definitely worth the online price. Finally add the $9 drink deal online to your order. You get a free cute Zoo cup and unlimited refills. The cup alone is worth $12 plus drink price per refill.
Cause ots nice like before where you saw more animals . The animals we saw look sick and they are so expensive now then before bronx zoo is not what is use to be.
Great place for the entire family to explore. Plenty of rides and attractions for the kids too. Well organized, clean and just big enough for a day's worth of exploring, and small enough to see everything. The annual memberships are the best value, as all the rides are included plus several free passes, depending on the type of membership.
Not much of an animal person, but I've been going here since I was five and they always have boring exhibits. Not really much to see here, and the eateries are expensive.
It is amazing for enjoy your day with a family together... Great price tickets and good for a kids as well I really recommended to you guys go ahead don t miss this summer time
Really, really big zoo. So much to do here. Can spend hours walking around and enjoying the animals. Only thing is, a bunch of the exhibits and attractions cost extra. Still plenty to see if you don't opt for the extras. The water fountains have low flow and are few far and inbetween so if you want to bring your own bottle to save some bucks, you might take a while finding a fountain. The live feedings are interesting and informative. Food is your usual pricey amusement/attractiob price.
The zoo can get very busy after 11 am. The parking lot line usually very long during weekend and Wednesday. So if you decide to go these days, best to go early, arrive eArly, otherwise, you will be stuck in the line for very long time. Parking on the street can be dangerous depends on where you park. Now, in terms of animals, not really a lot. A lot of animals are taking nap. Some rooms are very stinky... like very... I almost vomitted, so best advice is to bring some face masks.
