It was very nice but you need a entire day to do it!
Lot of different animals, and a really nice place to spend a day with the family! Beware they close before you get to see all the zoo!
It was a very nice Zoo. A little disappointed in the amount of animals that weren't on display when we were here due to weather. But overall a real good time
If you go there often the membership is 100% worth it. Even if you re just visiting the kids will have a blast with all the extras they have, camel rides, the shows they have. It s pretty awesome that we were so close to a tiger and saw her being fed.
I had such a great time I purchased the TEX ticket, which I strongly recommend it allows you into the butterfly exhibit you are allowed to ride the bug carousel, watch the 4 D movie in the theater. It was easy to get around. I even took a camel ride. Conway Tours and Pawtucket Parks are great, I travel often with them and see many great places.
So much fun seeing all the animals and hearing about all the conservation efforts. Worth the trip!
Pros: great smiley staff service all around, enough exhibits for a whole day of exploring, accessible toilets that are not too far from one another, monorail experience.
Can be improved: several individually priced exhibits prevent a more economic visitor from experiencing what the zoo has to offer after traveling all the way there, could be a crowd control measure, which is fair I guess. Have more variety of cuisines to choose from at the cafes. Have more shelters in case of sudden downpour. Advertise more feeding times or interactive photo op sessions with the animals for a more engaging experience.
Went for a wedding, and the bartenders Nancy and Gavin were so kind! Thanks for providing such great customer service.
An amazing and sizeable park in the middle of the South Bronx. The exhibits are always informative, there are an incredible amount of animal species too. If you can avoid [free] Wednesdays, do so; it tends to be unbearably crowded. If you live in the area, becoming a member is well worth it.
Lived in NY for 30+ years and first time coming here. I was surprised as to how large the zoo is especially being in NYC. I think the ticket sales were limited to keep crowd size down due to Covid. Overall not too crowded and we were able to see almost every exhibit.
Bronx zoo is no doubt one of the biggest zoo I have visited. There are many animals and animals are kept well. The lookout for many animals though does not give good peak at the animals. The asian section has camel ride, which was great. To see all other animals in the section one has to take monorail. Personally I would have liked to walk around.
Love it been going there since i was a child over 40 yrs great place for the whole family so clean
I love Bronx Zoo. It is always enjoyable spending the day here. My favorites are: Kongo, Wild Asia monorail ride and 4-D theater. Don't particularly like the lion's section in African plains - seems to me that lions don't have enough space there.
First time ever to the Bronx this year and was lucky enough to go to the zoo. It s great! The only daunting task is the sheer size. It s hard to fit it all in. The gorillas are especially fun. And who doesn t like a reptile house? They have a good gift shop also.
It's the best deal in town. Kid friendly, clean and always a friendly place to be. Also the animals are the best of ayt zoo I've ever been to. Love it and my kids and grandkids love it too. Short trip from the George Washington bridge and you'd never know you were in the Bronx. You won't be sorry.
For a zoo located in an urban area it is very impressive because once you are inside the zoo you don't notice you are in a city. It is a forest with a magical atmosphere. The nearest metro station to get to the zoo does not have an elevator so be prepared if you go with a stroller.
Disappointed that some of the exhibits were closed due to cooler weather and revamping habitats. The bathrooms were not well placed throughout the zoo. They were poorly maintained and poorly stocked. Food prices were very high for the quality of the food. Beautiful buildings and landscaping. Too bad the experience did not match
Always nice to go, rain or shine. Workers are always kind.
I love taking my children here. I've been going here since a child. Very very nice.
Place is HUGE! Still haven't been able to see everything at the zoo. The kids are so interested in everything that is there.
Really expensive but so interesting if you want to learn or if you want your kids to learn about animals.
Went here on a Wednesday and parking was horrible. The zoo parking lot was full and there was no one to instruct on alternate parking sites. Drove around for awhile before realizing we could park at Fordham.
Take a train and if you a local just walk it. Great family place and great for first time dates!!
I took my 4th grade class here last Spring. We went during the day on a Thursday I believe. It felt like we had the whole zoo to ourselves and it was the perfect field trip!
Great place for kids, only thing to complain is it s too big.
Like I tell people before, this zoo is wonderful. Beautiful is in the eye of the beholder. But if you want to have a good time you must go to the Bronx Zoo on Wednesdays, because the Bronx Zoo is " FREE " . go have a wonderful good time and please take your love one's with you. Come see your people that have been locked up for so many many many years.
It snowed the day that I went but it was still a spectacular fall day.
The giraffes were indoor and you could be so incredibly close to them, it's totally worth going no matter what the weather's like.
We have been members for a few years now and it's worth every penny
Lovely day spent with my family , saw some animals I haven't seen before. Very educational visit
Went there on Wednesday, free entrance day. It was a nice and informative walk
Great zoo. Open exhibits. Care and respect shown for the animals, and a fantastic variety to see.
Good old bronx zoo... Tons of animals, a nice outing for family or you and your mate... it has charm. The animals are well kept considering they're kept in the bronx lol. Some say that is not the case. But hey it's a place where animals are kept captive. Not going to go down that argumentative path... point is cool animals. Nice grounds. A hop and a skip from most parts of nyc. I would add it to your list if you're not a hardcore animal rights person...
Ps try and go during the week during the school year or you'll have crowds (most of which are kids) bustling around. Monorail is worth the dime.
It's a bit difficult when it comes to instructions
Example they must note where the extra fees are required on the map
Wonderful place to visit and enjoy the cites, it's very clean. You get to see all the animals and exhibits, I did it in 1 day loved it.
New to the bronx zoo is Nature trek, it's a new addition my nephews and niece were ecstatic.
I went another day just to do Tree Top Adventure at bronx river entrance. Had an amazing time zip lining and climbing definitely must come back to do all.
I even became a member of WCS, I recommend coming here with your family or with anyone.
For me it's like a mini getaway, to appreciate nature that is around us everyday!!
Huge place. It may be a little scary because the birds get completely free over there and sometimes follow you. Not a good place to go in the winter, because you won't see all the animals.
Really a wonderful zoo. The animals all have the ability to roam and aren't stuck in small cages. They also do a lot towards species preservation.
I've loved the Bronx Zoo ever since I was a kid and even more so now as an adult. Fun for the whole family. So much to see from the sea lions to the giraffes to the tigers and lions and bears. Do yourself a favor and get over to the zoo ASAP!
Large zoo that's still very walkable with some particularly nice areas - the Congo area and the butterfly garden - but both of these as well as a few more areas require an additional entrance fee. Not sure I'd give the zoo 4 stars with just general admission. We went on a "free" Wednesday (extra areas not free) which was also a school holiday and while the zoo was busy it didn't feel crowded. Bring your own snacks. They do sell food but that part of the zoo seemed pretty mismanaged, with food running out/limited selection available right in the heart of lunch time.
Love this zoo. I use to go all the time when I was a kid. And I bring my family
It s a beautiful zoo! Perfect place to hang out with partners or dates ;-)
Always a fun place for families Boo at the Zoo is fun and they have an updated 4D theater movie
Loved it since i was small sad that they took out the world of darkness but the new add ons are ok
Come visit on any day of the week, if you are a local I highly recommend purchasing the family pass that also gives you access to the other zoo's in NYC along with the Brooklyn aquarium. Busiest day is Wednesday, not really recommend since it does get packed and will bring down your experience due to some inconveniences
Saw a junkie in the bushes getting high in one of the paths inside zoo while children walking and seeing that
Had a great time. Loved seeing the different animals. All amazing.
Lots of walking, bring a stroller for your kids otherwise a single is $10. Takes about 4-5 hours to go through the whole thing. Great experience and exhibits! We loved it!
Beautiful place, but too many animal displays without animals.
Excellent Zoo.. We went on a Wednesday, and you pay what you want. We bought the tickets that have you the extra stuff like the monorail, dinosaur tour etc. I wouldn't have wanted to pay for these individually; none of them would've been worth the $4 or whatever it was! Really good selection of lizards and the like, loved it!
They have really upgraded the BX Zoo for the better
Always a nice trip especially for children. Be prepared to do a lot of walking.
Great place to bring your kids. Make sure to wear comfy clothes. :)
What an assume zoo! Animals were well taken care of!
Had loads of fun here despite the fact that it rained on the day I went so we couldn't do some of the fun rides.
Definitely going back!
Great place for kids... One day trip... Has places to eat... Enjoyed
Terrific, definitely takes more than one visit to see it all.
Love the bronx zoo. Every one needs to visit this place
There is so much to see and do here, I enjoyed the Dinosaur Safari and Madagascar
I wished they had a panda here. It's a beautiful zoo with plenty of greenery. I don't like snakes or animals behind the glass but still a great place to appreciate wildlife.
Membership is one of the best values in NYC. The exhibits are wonderful as well as educational. Membership means I can go whenever I want to just enjoy the day.
Great place to visit. The park is huge so be prepared for a lot of walking. Best time to visit is right when it opens, especially if you are planning to go zip lining or if visiting during special events such as Boo at the Zoo or Brew at the Zoo.
Love this place!!! Cant wait to c dinosaur exhibit....
Went as a kid, very fun when I was 7. I go 26yrs later didn't have as much fun there. But overall it was a nice outing.
It's a good zoo, with attention paid to making sure the animals are relatively comfortable in most cases. Kind of expensive.
I have been going to this zoo for a ridiculous amount of years. It will always have a special place in my heart
We always have a great time at this zoo. It's well kept and beautiful!
We had yearly place and went 5 times
And spent whole day all time and tried to explore as much as possible. It is great place for all age..
Spring season is best time.. animals also out so we can see them well.. during summer they also feel hot and most of the animals stay where it s shade or under their roofs where we couldn t see well..
So plan in pleasant time.. not on hot day..
I was a bit disappointed. The ticket sales online could be for Central Park Zoo. We had to buy additional tickets at the gate. However, the company was kind enough to refund my online purchase. It's really become commercialized. Don't recommend going in the summer. The animals are too hot, so they mostly stay indoors or don't want to be bothered; I don't blame them. Fall or Spring is best. Wanted our child to have the experience, but would have had to pay extra. Didn't see the Gorillas. You'd pay extra for that. Still an iconic place for me personally, and hat off to the hardworking zoo staff. Tough job!
A wonderful visit to a truly special place in the Bronx anytime of the year...but especially now in the Fall season for Boo at the Zoo!
The admission line is 1/2 mile long. I gave up after 1 hour and still in line. That will never happen again.
Simply awesome place to enjoy the day... with family or alone.
The zoo is well-maintained and the animals are well taken care of. We spent a beautiful day walking around the zoo reading about all of their conservation efforts in seeing some of the most amazing animals. I highly recommend a visit.
This is an amazing zoo. When kids love a place is because the place must be great. The customer service here is excellent and the attraction are exceptional. The food needs some quality improvement but other than that, this park is an amazing experience for anyone who visit it.
