Who doesn't love the zoo? There are so many animals, from fan favorites such as giraffes and lions to more niche ones such as the elephant nosed shrew and kiwi. The best part is the animals are all well taken care of and have nice enclosures. You are excited to look at them and your first thought isn't pity but joy.

At a fast pace you could probably see the whole zoo in a day (open to close), a moderate pace with an unrushed lunch might require two days!

The zoo has plenty of amenities, shade, benches, food, tram service. It's also kid friendly - the petting zoo is really nice, they also have camel rides and a dinosaur themed exhibit.

It's a bit pricey and a bit of a hassle to get to but the Bronx Zoo is a world class zoo.

P.S. Visit the mouse house. It's a different look at the cousin's of our subway dwelling friends.

Love the Bronx zoo! Great place to spend the day. Wife and I try and visit at least once a year. We're members and get to take advantage of all the attractions. Highly recommend getting there as it opens to enjoy the fullest day possible.

Wednesdays are Free Admission except for the Specialty stuff but you don't need that. Something for everyone, indoors and out.

The King of zoo's in all the 5 boroughs ! The must see is the gorilla exhibit. Do not leave unless you see them. Bring food for yourself and friends with you. The vendors are very basic and a bit over priced but hey, I can't imagine what the overhead is to feed all these animals. The bathrooms are spotless and so is the park so , be mindful to keep it that way. On site parking is reasonably priced. Enjoy the adventure !

Always have new exhibits during the seasons, fun activities for kids and adults alike.

A bit, well , alot expensive . But it was a nice walkthrough to see.the fixed lights and the lanterns, the lights shaped like animals. Its not a light show.
Employees were very nice and engaging I have to say.

It is quite beautiful and well planned. Need more than day to really see it all.

The Bronx zoo is a treat to myself. Will always love it. Always a great time.

It's a great zoo to be in the city. It's a good value. Highly recommended total experience tickets. They're totally worth it. come early if you want to see everything. It's not a very big zoo but still takes all day to see everything.
FYI some of the larger animals have an indoor pen and an outdoor area. So if you don't see just move around.

Lots of fun for the entire family. Requires multiple visits to enjoy all the attractions.

Monkey house was closed in November. But still was a nice visit with the kids

Love this zooo!! Wed is free entry! But they have added excursions within the zoo which you have to pay extra for. We didnt do it this time but next time its definitely a must! The food I suggest eating before you come "food" as in( pizza, chicken strips French fries and Pepsi products) it was Amazing clean everyone was great when we got a little lost lol it's a Must to take the children or stroll through for a day date!

One of the premier zoos in the US and a great place to go for a fun day outside. Limited food available and check to see if rides will be open before you go. Highly recommend getting a membership so you can visit the other NYC zoos too.

I don't like the fact that the staff has animals almost trying to eat people's food because they was starving. The Polar Bear was in poor conditions and so under weight. That's why they so aggressive with people trying to get closer. I don't like this zoo for so many reasons. We are supposed to go and enjoy to see the animals in good conditions and if the Zoo can't keep them in good conditions why they have all those animals living like that.

It wasn't a lot of animals and the few that were there seemed unhappy.

Went during winter so lots of things were closed but overall great time, the animals in the enclosures are not particularly shy and will come out and be seen not to mention hearing a real lion roar was pretty sweet. Food is insanely expensive and not that great but you're going for the animals.

I love this place so much especially for the bird exhibition. The setting is so great so that you can quietly view the birds of their natural behaviors. I also strong recommend that you buy the annual pass since a single ticket cost 30 but a year pass for two is only 130 and you can have 10% discount for any purchase inside the zoo.

I love the zoo. So many animals to see. Try to stay away on free days though, TOO MANY PEOPLE.

Had the worst experience ever and the staff was completely unhelpful and could of cared less. My sister got injured during our visit and ripped her knee open I had to run across the hole park to find first aid that no one could tell me where it was located and told the the lady inside that they could not come due to them only able to assist with heat strokes or someone lasting out. There is no proper direction on how to get around the park its spread out all over with no flow to it at all.

Need more fresh young diverse animals they look not happys.

As I write this Review words can t describe how upset I m feeling. Especially seeing the sad looks on my children s faces. When they come up to you and tell you there not letting anybody in due to no parking inside. Waited almost 2 hours for someone to come out and say go to another parking spot. And then when we go there they say there not letting anyone in we have to go park outside somewhere. So disappointing when you travel and expect to have a good time.

Great zoo, family loves the experience. Animals appear well cared for and the habitats are well done. Also, Wednesday is free general admission!

Visited the Asian Tigers and monorail ride through the zoo to see animals from the continents of Africa and Asia. Hot and humid day to hike thru out.

Crowded with many buses of campers from metro areas filled cafeterias and some exhibits. Patience was the guideline for the day.

Experience was beyond expected... Wednesdays are free (they will ask if you wanna donate any amount) but have to pay for parking that is $17 and not all attractions are free on Wednesday like dinosaur exhibit other days are $14 per person...ok if you just wanna see animals Wednesday is perfect not so crowded. Make sure its not raining and do visit on a sunny day. Get ready to walk yes you gonna walk a lot if you wanna see all animals.

Love it.. still go as an adult... just be ready 2 walllkkkk....

Great place for family fun but pricey. The zoo requires A LOT of walking and everything cannot be seen in one visit.

Love this place! So close to home, never leave dissappointed and my girls love it! Only thing I would say is their food is getting way too expensive so pack a picnic cus a hot dog is $7 with taxes

An amazing time for the whole family! The Bronx Zoo is huge and will literally take you all day to explore it in its entirety. Tickets are very well priced for what you get to see in do inside the zoo.

One of the most beautiful zoos, love seeing animals in habitats not cages

Its big you have so many things to see there are so many animals, Birds, reptiles ect. the stuff is amazing they ready to help you , the prices they are a little bit expensive but still ... i love it

The Bronx Zoo is quite a nice place, the cages for the smaller animals, such as the reptiles, were quite small though. However, most importantly, the food is very overpriced and so many animals were not available when I came a few months ago.

Really amazing. The aviary is really great as certain sections have no barriers between you and the birds. Also, the animal enclosures are very well done.

We have zoo passes that covered all the "extras". It would have been super expensive without the passes. The zoo was nice. It was clean. Only one elephant which was troubling to me as I understand they are very social and need companionship. Food was expensive so we brought our own, that worked out well. Overall nice day out.

A very good family spot, 5 train goes all the way there.

The Bronx Zoo is such a cultural place to visit in NYC. It is also free on every Wdnesday.

Always fun to visit and lots of activities for all age group people.

Quite big zoo. We saw lions , giraffes and other animals. I will definitely suggest to avoid going there when cold or rainy. I most of shops and attractions closed. Spring and summer will be the best time to see most of it. We have bought Groupon voucher, saved few dollars.

Had fun but before you come make sure you pack water and snacks

Not all the animals were out but still a fun time..

Had a wonderful time!!! All the animals were out and about. It wasn't to crowded for a Friday. The staff were extremely helpful with assisting me with my needs. A lot has changed compared to years before when I had came the last time.

A number of the buildings were closed but the kids still had a great time. Childrens zoo is awesome!

The kid area was fantastic for my niece and nephew. Always love going to bronx zoo for anybody to get a little tatse of the wildlife we have in this world l.

Make sure you have the full day here as there is so much to see you'll struggle to get round the whole place. Some downsides were that some of the enclosures definitely needed making bigger and a few sociable animals were living alone which was quite sad having no company at all.

As always in these places food and drink is hugely overpriced with a bottle of water costing around $4 so bring food and drink in with you.

Overall it was a good day out and there is a huge variety of animals, great conservation work occurring and they're involved in breeding programmes of endangered species too. Make sure you go on the East Asia monorail, absolutely brilliant!

Beautiful zoo. Went there on Wednesday because it is free admission, but you still have to make some sort of donations, and you still have too bump into large groups of kids. Other than that, the animals perform admirable and I believe they are treated nice.

Excellent place to spend time with family or friends. It s HUGE so I couldn t see everything in one day. I would definitely come back here.

Beautiful zoo with a lot of space for animals happy leaving! Also liked fur-seals feeding show, kids will enjoy it.

Love visiting here. Many animals and habitats. Very educational and buying the full experience is highly suggested.

Had multiple school trips as a child and never had a problem, also visited as a teenager and adult and seemed to still be nice as I remember but more places to go to will be nice instead of so much walking

love taking my daughter to the Bronx zoo been taking her there for years now nice place to teach your daughter about different animal species rodents what you will smell a lot of animal feces over there so prepare yourself for that

Was pleasantly surprised at how much there is to do at the Bronx Zoo for all ages. The exhibits and rides were great for all ages. Love the mix of animals. Remember, if you go during the winter months, some of the animals may not be outside. This is for their health and well-being. I would check ahead of time if you re interested in seeing the gorillas, lions, tigers, etc.

I've always enjoyed going to the Zoo.
for as long as I can remember I have gone since I was a child and now I take my grandchildren and great grandson! !

The visit was fun, we just became members as to have extra things to do with the little one, she loves animals of all sorts and it kept her engaged for the 4 hours we spend there. Would definitely recommend, also was kept clean and not overcrowded in covid19 times.

This is one of the best zoo i have ever visited. I am not sure if all the animals are happy or sad there, but i am sure that very special care is given to each and everyone.
Its quite big and if you want to cover each and every point then make sure to be there at 10 am sharp that is the opening time. More you will be late, less will be the points you could cover.
There are two category of tickets that they provide. Total experience and general, the former have included few special section at zoo like butterfly garden, congo gorilla forest, mono rail, nature trek etc and few additional facilities like unlimited shuttle ride.
Most of the section here is wheelchair accessible.
The place is definitely kids friendly.

Such an awesome zoo , it will take you all day being the size and activities they have to offer. Very expensive and once you are inside the zoo things cost individualy that can add up. So do your research before you show up. Love Love Love The childrens Halloween Fun is soo cute.

Excellent family experience. Too much to see in one day. Everywhere you turn is a new exhibit to visit. If you have little ones, the Children's Zoo exhibit is fantastic, you could spend the whole day in there!

The family and I went to the zoo for a couple of hours. The staff were friendly and helpful. The zoo is super large and that is why we are members as you can't see everything in one trip. I recommend seeing the Dinosaur Safari as it's short but still good to see the life-size dinosaurs.

Always a nice experience at both the Zoo and the Botanical Gardens.

I had a great experience, it was a little overwhelming at first since it was our first time there and the place is huge. We paid over $40 each for adults and were able to see everything in the zoo from riding the train to entering other exhibits. It's worth paying for the full experience. It took us roughly 4 hours and we still had 2 more exhibits to see that we missed because of thunder and lightning. Overall it was a great experience and we cannot wait to go back to see the ones we missed.

Such an amazing place, you need all day, we arrived just when opened, and in a hurry barely made it thru until closing time, good to follow the map. especular envoirment for the animals, you can feel you are in their natural habitat, went in winter but would be even more amazing in summer. Go have fun time will fly. See all world animals.

Today i completed a Penguin Encounter. It was amazing, I forget what the names were but the bands were Orange, blue , i think tuna and Squid.
But they were energetic, i was a little scared during the interaction, but i warmed up quickly and even pet one too. I definitely recommend the encounter and will definitely be doing it again. Thank you to Alfonzo and the two ladies for a great time! Loved the little orange banded penguin so funny and went at my timbs laces!

Love t he zoo, bring cash as food places only accept cash, will visit again!

Grace was AMAZING and VERY accommodating of our party which included my handicapped sister.

Great time, went on a Wednesday and purchased the total experience tix for 15 per person to get on all the rides and see all the attractions. Wednesday are free however but not for the rides n attractions.
Went in June and had lots of schools there on trips but its actually great to see all the kiddies having a great time.

Will NEVER go there since they had a Black Man on Display... I'm good.

Wonderful for the kids! Most people actually followed the rules with masks, but definitely not with social distancing.

Great zoo with a lot of endangered animals which you won't find in many zoos. If you are in NYC this is a must go to place!!

DO NOT COME HERE!! 80% of the animals were not there, there were signs all over saying that the animals are not available. complete waste of money.
