Great zoo. Lots of different animals to see. Check the times for the sea lion and penguin feedings. They put the animals away at around 4:30 at night so get there early if you want to see everything.

Very disappointing. Not the Bronx Zoo I remember. Animals seem bored. Tiger paced in one straight line, one elephant is all alone in a barren enclosure, and the gorillas sit and eat their own poop for lack of anything better to do. The outdoor giraffe exhibit is totally overgrown with weeds and the animals are stuck inside one room. There were no butterflies in the butterfly exhibit which costs extra to enter. New York City needs to invest money to improve the conditions for these poor animals or send them elsewhere. Wondering where the $40 per day entrance fee per person and $17 parking rate is being used.

Lots of walking but that's to be expected there are shuttle buses to get you around just gotta find them. They do close kinda early(5 on weekdays and 530 on weekends)so this is definitely a morning trip of you don't have membership. Kids loved it and staff was pleasant.

Do not visit the Bronx Zoo on a Wednesday, thinking ur getting in for free because your not. One because u might get in for free but to go to the major attraction u have to pay to get in and on top of that there is so many kids visiting that you can even enjoy yourself. Besides that the park is ok.

Great zoo. Yes, a bit pricey, but that makes annual membership worth considering for locals. It s $200 for up to 3 adults and 2 children; add $30 and parking is included. Our first visit was today - so just scratched the surface. Still, the giraffes are graceful and gorgeous; the llamas in the children s zoo were adorable - too many highlights to itemize.

Visited on a sunny day at the end of March. A great family experience. Pleasant staff really helped. A huge zoo, but we didn't miss any animals. The indoor bird exhibits were surprisingly large with mixes of species.

Large zoo that has a good variety of animals. It is very well maintained. You need to pay for parking, which isn't included in the ticket price. They also charge extra for certain exhibits like the Gorilla forest. Bring your own water because they charge $4 for a bottle of water.

A lot of interesting for both kids and adults. Even though it's winter time, we saw a lot of animals, including tigers, bears and giraffes. Kids will enjoy the Nature Trek and Bug Carousel.

Bought a family membership and spent 2 1/2 hours in the reptile house looking for snakes and toads turtles and s test your eyesight with your friends... now please excuse me while I place drops in me retinas man they hide super well. This place is excellent for visiting with children and friends. The whole zoo is well taken care of, the animals are all free in their habitat and the scavenger I must say takes about a whole day if you want to catch all the animals in the zoo. Sadly when I went the reptile house was closed but other than that my overall experience with my two little brothers was fun! I highly recommend anyone to come here!

Bronx Zoo is probably one of the best zoos I've ever been to, and certainly the largest. I have to warn you that, if it's your first visit, plan a good six hours to see the entire collection. There's a huge collection of different animals, in both outdoor and indoor enclosures, in a variety of different enclosures, for some of which you have to pay extra, which is why it's extremely recommendable that you get a total experience ticket, which covers all of the exhibits. A negative I must point out, however, is that the only food I saw available was junk food and cheap catering, and the only water that gets sold is Dasani, which is infamous for containing sodium and actually makes one thirstier. Not a good idea, guys. However, this zoo is incredibly important for conservation, and their work for the environment is invaluable.
The must see enclosures are, in my opinions, are:
- The Congo Gorilla Forest: An indoor-outdoor exhibit, whose star animals are okapis, mandrills and, of course, gorillas.
- Wild Asia Monorail: A complex of large, outdoor pens, which you can see from a monorail train. This area is populated by a variety of large Asian mammals, including Indian rhinos, Siberian tigers and Asian elephants.
- Madagascar: An indoor tropical enclosure which houses a variety of unique animals from Madagascar, like lemurs, fossas and crocodiles.
- Aquatic bird house; An indoor enclosure which includes a large variety of waterbirds and some other interesting aves, including little blue penguins, scarlet ibises, and even kiwis!

Go on Wednesdays it's free. Lots of walking and lots of people. It NYC folks. Don't go in on the side where the cars park. If you come from the side with the train alot faster. Bring strollers for your kids cause they will get tired. Take it from someone who is from NYC.

The Bronx zoo is great for adults and kids. To finally be able to see real animals instead of just in books and tv. Get the membership, it is worth it! Then you can also visit the other zoos like Central Park, queens, Brooklyn, and the aquarium for free. And you don t have to feel FOMO when you visit, you can take your time with the kids and come back for more. At the parking area, they also have two electric charging stations in the front which is FREE! Talk about moving towards sustainability. The children s area are always a hit with the kids!

Excellent walk about including discovery of a great deal of animal species from all continents. Excellent for familly outing. Kind of little Africa at your door step. Key day to visit: wednesday. Cost: just a tip.

Great place to spend the day. Bring a lunch and eat outside on a nice day. I do recommend paying for a membership if you have kids. Going twice a year pays for the membership. It includes parking admission to the park and most exhibits and 10% off purchases in the park.

irritated with the odd flow of the tram stops + that the monorail closed so early... also the concrete was uncomfortable to tread on the entire time... otherwise, some of the exhibits in the houses were old + smelly but the decorative touches on the buildings facades + old style cages were quite beautiful

Always nice to see well cared for animals and plenty of open space in the city. Can be a little difficult to navigate but definitely worth the time and trip even with all that traffic!!

Nice place to see the Christmas light display, there is a miniature train ride (a 15-30 minute wait during busy days). Very fun, but don't expect to see a lot of animals, they are away for the evening hours...still a lovely holiday/Christmas visit!

I especially love the bird exhibits, many of which let you walk around with no barrier between viewer and bird. It's such a steal to go on Wednesday; you can easily spend the entirety of opening hours seeing the regular visits and skip the extra attractions.

A huge immersive and educational experience. Visited recently on a day where it snowed the previous night before. While some of the animals, wisely, kept inside, there was still so much to see that it was almost impossible to see the entire zoo in one day. Highly recommend doing a Wild Encounter which is an additional, pre-scheduled, and small-group visit with zookeepers and animals that are part of the ambassador program educating people on the sustainability efforts of the zoo and the WCS. On my visit, I got to see the Cheetah Ambassador, Triton and his companion, a yellow lab named Finn. Very cool experience to have a chance to see them up-close and learn about what their mission is. As for everything else in the zoo, the staff and zookeepers are all very friendly and there is so much information about both the animals and the conservation efforts that it is almost too much to take in but certainly engaging for visitors of all ages. Looking forward to going back.

Wednesdays are free, that's usually the most crowded day obviously. if you have a city id you get a lot of things for 15% off. Overall it is a trip that is a must for any New Yorker or any visitor except from San Diego because their zoo is better.

It was really nice, I used the Free ticket Wednesday s which can be found online. The zoo is vast, it has parking cafes and a little restaurant. Maps are located all over the zoo for guidance, it s a lot of walking so be prepared. Transport to and from is only minutes away with the local bus and subway line 2/5

Wonderful experience. Many animals were inside due to the weather but I was still a lovely trip. The map was east to understand and there were plenty of workers around to help guide you when needed.

Well worth the trip! The zoo is HUGE and beautifully maintained. All the walking paths, animal areas, carts and gardens look great! They have so many animals and the atmosphere is great. Expect to send at least 2 hours here at the minimum ! The gorrilla exibit and mono-rail cost a few bucks extra on top of the standard ticket price , but they are also well worth it! The staff is extremely helpful and informative and all the animals they have are just wonderful! Also Parking is about $17 to stay for the day .

Fun fun fun. Just be sure of where you park and try to avoid Wednesday if you want to get alot in. Wednesday is pay what you like and it gets crowded....also be prepared to face rush hour traffic once you leave at closing.

Very large, wonderful zoo in the heart of the Bronx. New Yorkers: Be aware that you can get a free year membership giving you free admission if you have a NYC ID and bring it to admissions. The membership works at the other NYC zoos.

Incredibly beautiful setting and wonderful people running it. Sensitivity to animals is obvious. World class zoo, as far as I can tell. It's like the Statue of Liberty:. You need to see it at least once. Avoid free entry day if you dislike crowds; buy the ticket on regular days.
