My stay with my family at this resort was a horror show!!! I was on a family vacation with my family including 2 granddaughters: ages 1 and 2. We spent 5 glorious days in Orlando at The Grove which was amazing!!! We drove down to Ft. Lauderdale to visit my mother and sister. Since we were a large group with two toddlers, I opted to stay at this resort due to location and convenience. I actually booked months in advance. We booked 2 King Suites for a 3 night stay.
After a very long drive from Orlando, we were looking forward to get a good nights sleep and checking in. First off, there really is no large sign indicating where the hotel was. Thanks to GPS, we would not have figured that this was the resort . Upon arrival, the lobby looked really nice and we were looking forward to get to our rooms. When we arrived at our rooms, I literally cried!!
It was nothing I have ever imagined!! I had no idea that the rooms would be like a motel. A cheap motel! The ice machine was broken and disgusting. The rooms were extremely antiquated and there was a bee hive in the light directly in front of my son s room and he is allergic to bees!! There were bees every where including on top of the door handles. There was mildew smell throughout. Loud girls next to our room. It looked like the type of motel you rent by the hour if you know what I mean. The rugs were dirty. I did not even want my granddaughters to touch anything. I called to change our rooms and the girl claimed that they were full to capacity. I literally cried. We couldn t even sleep. We spent the night looking for another place but it was too late.
The next morning, my granddaughter had pink eye. We went to the front desk again and Roberto was very helpful and found us two other rooms which was slightly better. I never imagined that this place was so old, antiquated and dirty. We had a view of a swamp and there was loud construction, not there own obviously. Believe it or not, the following morning, I had to take my husband to the hospital ER (Cleveland Clinic) he awoke with the right side of his face swollen and numb. Turns out that he had a skin infection from shaving!!!
I barely was able to spend any time with my mother or sister due to all this time consuming mishap. The two stars is one for the lobby and the other for Roberto. Next time, in September, for my nephews wedding, I will definitely stay at a more well known place and do better research. If you are looking to stay for one night and not with family, then maybe consider. Otherwise, run for your life!!!!!!
Addendum:
FYI, seven members of my family has had the viral pink eye as a result of this disgusting horrible stay. This is including myself who is the seventh . I have been an RN for over 20 years and have never seen such a horrible thing. They should really shut this place down!!!
