The door handle was filthy! Ants, lizards, and any other small creature can creep through the bottom of the door. The view is of the parking lot. The TV doesn't have any digital channels and most of the analog channels are snowy. The tub looks like it was made for someone who is 7years old. It's very dim and dark.
I would expect this type of room from motel 6 next to the highway not something of this price. I haven't been to the rest of the "resort" yet and I'll surely update this during my stay.
Found bugs or gnats on the ceiling of the room.

I couldn't complain, heaven in one word. I don't sweat the small stuff. The room was immaculate and we had a party at night of 25 people in it. I stayed with a group and the buffet was phenomenal..
One remark, sorry, no fridge or microwave in the room. The wet room was addictive..lol

The Bonaventure Resort & Spa's a nice enough place. It's a little old and probably do some renovation. Rooms were nice and also Chili's or the air conditioning works which is important for Fort Lauderdale. Despite a very limited menu at The Outdoor bar it was still nice to have

A few weeks ago my wife and I decided to dine at Ireland's restaurant located at Bonaventure Resort and Spa. I ordered a very expensive rack of lamb to be cooked medium rare. What I got was incinerated black. The sliced mushrooms that accompanied it were similarly blackened, tasting of charcoal. The augratin potatoes I ordered with it were great, the one positive aspect of an otherwise miserable and over priced meal.

There is little to nothing about the resort that looks remotely like the photos. The staff is nice but the rooms are dated, broken furniture, and the food was mediocre. Would like to have had the experience set up by the photos.

My stay with my family at this resort was a horror show!!! I was on a family vacation with my family including 2 granddaughters: ages 1 and 2. We spent 5 glorious days in Orlando at The Grove which was amazing!!! We drove down to Ft. Lauderdale to visit my mother and sister. Since we were a large group with two toddlers, I opted to stay at this resort due to location and convenience. I actually booked months in advance. We booked 2 King Suites for a 3 night stay.
After a very long drive from Orlando, we were looking forward to get a good nights sleep and checking in. First off, there really is no large sign indicating where the hotel was. Thanks to GPS, we would not have figured that this was the resort . Upon arrival, the lobby looked really nice and we were looking forward to get to our rooms. When we arrived at our rooms, I literally cried!!
It was nothing I have ever imagined!! I had no idea that the rooms would be like a motel. A cheap motel! The ice machine was broken and disgusting. The rooms were extremely antiquated and there was a bee hive in the light directly in front of my son s room and he is allergic to bees!! There were bees every where including on top of the door handles. There was mildew smell throughout. Loud girls next to our room. It looked like the type of motel you rent by the hour if you know what I mean. The rugs were dirty. I did not even want my granddaughters to touch anything. I called to change our rooms and the girl claimed that they were full to capacity. I literally cried. We couldn t even sleep. We spent the night looking for another place but it was too late.
The next morning, my granddaughter had pink eye. We went to the front desk again and Roberto was very helpful and found us two other rooms which was slightly better. I never imagined that this place was so old, antiquated and dirty. We had a view of a swamp and there was loud construction, not there own obviously. Believe it or not, the following morning, I had to take my husband to the hospital ER (Cleveland Clinic) he awoke with the right side of his face swollen and numb. Turns out that he had a skin infection from shaving!!!
I barely was able to spend any time with my mother or sister due to all this time consuming mishap. The two stars is one for the lobby and the other for Roberto. Next time, in September, for my nephews wedding, I will definitely stay at a more well known place and do better research. If you are looking to stay for one night and not with family, then maybe consider. Otherwise, run for your life!!!!!!
Addendum:
FYI, seven members of my family has had the viral pink eye as a result of this disgusting horrible stay. This is including myself who is the seventh . I have been an RN for over 20 years and have never seen such a horrible thing. They should really shut this place down!!!

Was here for a graduation event, tried to order a drink at the time the bar was supposed to be open and although the bartender was there he would not serve us...told us to go to the pool, then he proceeded to pour a drink for someone else. I guess at this place you must know someone to be able to buy a drink. Will definitely not come here again, rude, inconsiderate and overall a bad experience.

Bonaventure was CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN! Silver and white everywhere.
It was also on the water and you can watch TV in your room and watch Boats passing by at the same time.
The staff is so nice! And the Pool is on the 7th floor for an amazing view of the whole area.

Walking up to the room was a huge roach. The room was nice except that when we unrolled the towel a live spider crawled out. Then we found ants on the kitchen counter which we cleaned off, but soon more came up. Later upon going to bed we found black ants in the bed. We changed rooms but the lights were out in the outside hallway. Very disappointing!! The staff were very accommodating but I would not recommend this establishment.

I would not recommend supporting this hotel, or what they call a "resort", based on the fact that they have poor management and do not treat their employees with respect. My close friend is a part of their kitchen staff, working the banquets and cafeteria. Employees are expected to work 12+ hour days and when they do not, they are penalized. Overtime is mandatory and not optional, even for those who have families and children to care for. The kitchen managers do not have any common courtesy for their employees and treats them as though their time is invaluable. If an employee does not stay past their 8 hours they are threatened with a write up. Most are too scared to stand up to management because they are known for retaliation, whether it's through their schedules or making them do tedious work. There is also evident discrimination and favoritism. When concerns have been brought to their HR department, nothing has been done. Their HR manager acts with a lack of professionalism or knowledge of basic HR procedures and practices. As it has been reported, the HR manager visited to the kitchen on Valentine's Day and was handing out favors to the employees. When she asked the employees to show these favors in a photo, the kitchen manager commented "Show us your breasts. We all want to see them." The HR manager proceeded to laugh and leave the situation. This is sexual harassment and if she was competent in her position she would have reported this immediately. If HR does not even enforce the rules, then who will? These issues were brought to the attention of HR, the General Manager, and kitchen Manager. It has also been submitted to the BBB. This "resort" is an embarrassment and I discourage locals and visitors from supporting them in any way, shape, or form.

The room was OK for the price I've got in the Priceline. Although, there was a miscommunication between Priceline and the hotel, so I had to pay triple the original amount I was supposed to pay through Priceline. So, it became way too overpriced. The frontdesk staff were not very polite and helpful as well...

This place has seen better days. Everything is old and needs serious updating. The room smelled of mildew and felt very humid. If it weren t for the fact that I m attending a conference, I would not stay here.

The property is beautiful and all employees were extremely friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to provide excellent service. Unfortunately, the rooms are a bit aged and outdated but overall it was a nice weekend stay.

Went to 3 buildings for ice. 6 machines broke. Both pools were pretty dirty. Looked like they're cleaned once a week. Staff everywhere but where you need them. Tiny, tiny beds. I mean only rinky dink motels use double beds anymore. Nice spacious room with mini kitchen was only upside.

Needs an update and a price drop on everything, especially the food. Didnt like you they have a private pool you have to pay for then could have just walked straight into it. The food was an attempt at high end but it seems they just made it more expensive and say its high quality. The best parts were the waterfalls in the pool and the nature walk that will soon be built on.

My wife and I frequent this establishment at least twice a year. For the last five years we've enjoyed mini get aways at this resort. This weekend we stayed for two nights. Some highlights of our experience. The Whirlpool didn't have water, the pool needs to be redone, the beds were soft and bad for backs, the air filter(pic attached) was from 10-30-16. Sadly, I mentioned these issues at check out and no real emphasis on our stay and comments. I guess we need to find another place to stay.

I read the reviews and prayed for the best. BUT GOT THE WORST. Allow me to elaborate. I am a very laid back person that didn't have the highest expectation. I just wanted to rest & have some 1 on 1 time with my other. What I ended up with is BED BUGS. YES BED BUGS. I have emailed them and have yet to get even an apology. Spare yourself the trouble. Outside of that it was okay. Minus no parking.

Trying to see the positive side, but having trouble. Towels were not replaced in bathroom, outdated building and room, no water pressure in the shower.
Breakfast:
Continental is cereal and fruit
Buffet- add very crispy bacon, powdered eggs, dry waffle s , $42.00 for 2 people (includes tax and tip)
Pool area is very nice, staff has been very friendly.
Hard to believe there's no refridgerator in the room at a resort.

We usually go to Bonaventure for Ireland's Steakhouse which is incredible. Last night my wife and I stayed overnight. The room was clean and everything worked as expected. This morning we visited the pool area before departing. Towels were laid out for guests and it was very quiet and peaceful. We will be returning to stay again soon!

Let s start with the accidental $39,368 charge from the hotel on my credit card. When I called they said it was a mistake and it was supposed to be a refund. (Since my employer was paying for the room they had also charged room+tax to the card I put down for incidentals (which was just $100). When they realized they charged my personal card for room+tax they tried to refund it. That total should have been about $726...but instead accidentally charged me $39,368!!! Yeah right... some accident.

Hotel was sub par...carpets were peeling up...shower was kind of corroded with hard water. Gym was leaking from the roof everywhere...the men s locker room was locked the entirety of my stay. There were no towels available for gym use. The lobby was nice, that s about it. They put me in the furthest building from the lobby, a very far walk especially with luggage... I asked for something closer since I flew in and did not have a car to get to the building. The front desk attendant assured me it was a very close walk. It was not. I saw others being offered golf cart rides I m assuming to their rooms, I was not. Would not stay here ever again.

Don t waste your time at this place. It s a joke. Ridiculous pricing for the location. The suites look like retired home apartments.

We stayed with our friend for her wedding weekend and we all had the worst experience ever. They booked two suites and basically had to beg for parking for everyone coming into the room (makeup artist, photographer, etc). We had to go all the way to the front desk to get a parking pass for the vendors and also the father of the bride. We had to beg for them since basically they only give a ridiculous amount per room (2 passes). Oh, and the whole breakfast included is for 2 people only so we brought our own.

To make things worse, the room was NOT ready the day before the wedding. My friend (the bride) came in at 2:30 pm right before the rehearsal dinner to leave the wedding dress and all her belongings and it was a complete waste of time. They made her come back after 5! After calling and trying to complain about it to a manager all he did was not be compassionate about it and my poor friend had to be arguing with a hotel manager 1 day before her wedding. Instead of being offered an upgraded room with some kind of view, she just just got chocolate covered strawberries and champagne (which we are not complaining about). What I can t understand is how a person that is getting married gets a horrible room with lake view in the back. The back view was a dirty canal with construction going on right when you open the window. Horrible view, horrible room, horrible services. Don t waste your time at this resort & spa . Very disappointing.

Upon arival the front desk staff was friendly, helpful and professional. The room appeared clean and neat. However, the lizzards came in (typical for Florida) the second night and an infestation of baby spiders came in the next (that may be what the lizzards were after). The gabing holes under the door and lack of effective extermination was our guess. Thousands of spiders were crawling everywhere in the kitchen and in one of the beds, like a horror movie. We called the front desk and after 2 calls and about 30 mins, they moved us to another room. We balled up the sheets and put them near the door, put all our clothes in the shower and had to carefuly inspect all our belongings, as you can imagine. The manager seemed sypmathic but did show expresions of disbelief. He was kind enough to provide a monetary credit, but the damage was done - as you can imagine. Our skin was crawling from that point on. It was a horrible experience. Best advise, do not bring any food into this resort and if you do put it all in the refigerator. Too many cawling things there for our likiing.
