We had a great time, great resort hosts and staff....
We had a great time, great resort hosts and staff. Very helpful and courteous. We are looking forward to going back again in the near future.

I don t even know where to start.
The only thing we liked about this resort was how friendly the staff seemed to be. Other than that - my husband and I were extremely disappointed. We ended up going to Margaritaville for our last 3 nights. We came here to celebrate my 30th birthday and we were in shock that there had been so many good reviews on this resort. First of all - the room was sadly underwhelming. The bathroom was gross and the shower was so tiny that we couldn t really maneuver without hitting our elbows on the wall or soap dispenser. How to turn on the shower was another nightmare - it was hard to tell how to get hot or cold water & the pipes that the knobs were attached to came out of the wall. On top of that, the walls were paper thin. Our physically active neighbors did their thing every morning and night and we heard EVERYTHING. This should not even be labeled a resort. The store on the premises was never open during their scheduled hours. The beach was also super underwhelming. It was very small and rocky. Definitely not worth the price we paid to stay. Even the locals agreed that this resort was not good. It was a total motel with outrageous prices! We did thankfully get a refund for 2 nights we didn t stay.
Staying here just before Christmas 2019 was a great experience. Staff all friendly and welcoming. Beach nice and fairly quiet. Iguanas walking around which was quite fun and made sunbathing more interesting. Pool small, but has a swim-up bar, so that makes up for size. Food good enough for hotel price-point. Nice big bar and friendly bartender if you wanna socialise. No bath, but good shower. Rooms spacious with big tv. Beach just a few metres away. No complaints and glad to see resort recovering from the hurricanes a few years back.
Food and drinks were amazing. Staff was wonderful and cheery. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Loved that cats lived on the grounds also. Beach was beautiful
The location is fabulous on the beach, with great snorkeling and has an adjacent dive shop. St. Thomas Diving Club, which is excellent. Limited access to restaurants or food if you don't have a car. Taxis are expensive. Restaurant on premises is good, but menu is limited. On site convenience store expensive with limited options.
Rooms have great views and refrigerator and coffee maker, but are worn and in need of repair.
Bolongo Bay is my home away from home. It is the most gorgeous beach I have ever been to in my life (I think it beats the Bahamas, Hawaii, Florida, etc.). The food is delicious and I wish I could eat at their restaurants everyday of my life. Best drinks and best bartenders/waitstaff!! Everyone who works here is friendly and genuine. The owners are incredible people with huge hearts and they make you feel like family. Bolongo Bay is the closest thing to heaven I ve ever known! This place is close to my heart. We ve been coming to Bolongo for 7 years and can t wait to get back! Most fun you ll ever have in the most gorgeous place!
Water smelled like sewage.. worst beach on the island. The fish won't even swim there
Food is ok. Prices are more reasonable than other places close by. But I had undercooked fish. Like pink pink. I sent it back and they still charged me. "We gave you half off the entree" they said. So I can't eat something and I still get charged half for it. Yeah great idea. Maybe I can feed it to the 7 cats that are in the restaraunt area.
Bolongo Bay is truly a special place. We had a wonderful relaxing vacation, with excellent food at every meal. The staff could not be more fun and thoughtful. It s run by a family with many local employees.
Each day we looked forward to a quiet time on the beach and we were not disappointed. Each night we looked forward to cocktails, an amazing meal and live music (most nights).
All the rooms have ocean views and are on the beach. A two minute walk to the water.
The rooms are large and clean, the bathrooms are outdated, but work fine. We had a lovely balcony and enjoyed drinking coffee in the room and watching the birds and iguanas.
If you are looking for a small, friendly hotel experience in St Thomas, look no more.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. The staff was beyond amazing. I m in the food service industry and the food was all top of the line. No buffets which is unusual for an all inclusive. Best scavenger hunt ever. Can t go wrong at Bolongo Bay. Will be back within the year
Bolongo Bay from the start made our family feel like part of theirs. Vernita in the gift store, Suzan our dinner server, and Captain Wes went out of their way to ensure we had what we needed over and beyond what was expected. The owner greeting us with drinks and walking us to our room was exceptional as well. We are all meals at Iggy s and dont have a single complaint on the food. Location is also beautiful. Rooms were clean and were kept clean all week.
The reason for 4 stars is because I really wish the beach was not so rocky. It was difficult coming in and out. Also, the resort as a whole was not as kid friendly as I would have hoped. They only had 1 child snorkel set and I have 2 kids. We also felt like our kids were bothering others, especially by the pool/restaurant.
Again, those names I mentioned above made our vacation magical and we would absolutely go back.
A wonderful, unforgettable vacation. The staff makes you feel like family, and the location cannot be beat. Strongly recommend the sunset cruise on the Heavenly Seas Catamaran they have on site, as well as their wide selection of water sports items.
My girlfriend and I went almost exactly two years ago to Bolongo and we are going again here in about 5 weeks. It was one of my most favorite trip and I ve gone to a lot of tropical locations. The food is amazing. EVERYONE is so inviting and friendly. I 110% recommended Bolongo bay to anyone who asks.
Just came back from our second trip Bolongo Bay and loved it. Will be returning next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stayed here because our flight was rescheduled last minute.
Long wait to check in = comped drinks while waiting in line
Met family at bar for dinner. Food is 2 s and probably the worst part of the place.
Drinks at bar are $7 and stiff. There was an incredible live band playing during dinner and helped bring the experience up.
Great service and friendly staff. But you won t walk away going wow
Great place to hold a meeting presentation for our organization
I just stayed 3 nights at Bolongo bay for my best friends wedding. We had all inclusive and I thought the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The food and drinks were wonderful but the service from the bartenders was slow and always treated us like an inconveniencee. I understand it gets annoying to keep refilling drinks for all inclusive, but you get automatic gratuity and most didn t deserve it. Krysta and Alise were very wonderful, but that s about it. Kevin was extremely rude to the bride and the rest of the wedding party. There were different rules each day which was irritating. I also came home with a ton of bed bug bites on my arms legs and feet which were misled to be sand flea bites. I was never in the sand, and another couple actually found bed bugs in their bed and traveled back to Iowa with them. We spent a ton of money on creams and aloe during the trip, which wouldn t have had to happen if the bed bugs weren t there. Be cautious before going, and check your luggage when you leave!
We didn't stay at this resort but we did check out the bar. It felt like a bar built in the forest. It was a very natural and relaxing atmosphere. It had a swim up bar table as well! The bartender was so nice!
Next St Thomas visit, we're staying at this resort.
I loved the vibe of bolongo, relaxed and easy going. The time I went was in 2015, around May. There was a massive seaweed event so we didn t really get to enjoy the water there. No fault of Bolongos but they gave us a free trip out to Megan s bay and a cruise to snorkel. It was awesome. I hope to go back one day with my son when he s a little older. Iggies bar is really fun! The steak at the main hotel restaurant was so good!
From the date I booked our honeymoon the staff at Bolongo bay were amazin! Our flight was delayed by 16 hrs I called Bolongo and they adjusted our accommodations. Our 7 day vacation was Awesome! The resort is on the smaller side which makes it have a personal feel. EVERY SINGLE STAFF called my husband and I by name. There are so many things to do from booze snorkeling (which I highly reccomend) to snorkeling with the sea turtles, laying on the beach (bring water shoes it is rocky in the water), eating at Izzys (try the conch fritters you will not be disappointed). The swim up bar is fantastic. The bartenders are very friendly and make delicious drinks. The best chimichurri steak I have ever had was in the Bolongo Bay restaurant. The Woman in the gift shop set us up on an amazing zip line tour and excursion on the island where we got to see parts of the Island that most tourists don't know exist and learned about the local plants and wildlife. The staff on the resort helped with everything we needed any time of the day or night. My husband and I cannot wait to bring our girls to Bolongo. I would totally live there given the option. So, book the trip. Go. Enjoy doing everything, or nothing. It is so worth it. Go for the all inclusive!
Went here for the island not fancy hotel. Just roof over head while we were there that's what we got with great views. Wife decided if bugs in room well that's life don't blame hotel. There may have Ben bug's but we went there with the right attitude! Didn't see them in room and if we did we have better thing's to do. Room better than we expected they cleaned room when you let them and they did a good job no complaints here. Food they have great food and good food for your mood. Weather changes has no guarantee's live it for the moment. I have bad teeth not from drugs but people can make fast judgment from balongo to Iggies they treated me great. Relax if you have to work at it work on it at home before you go.
Bolongo Bay is The best resort we have ever stayed at the staff is wonderful the area is great the water sports are wonderful. It is Just a great place to stay recommend highly
Great staff and awesome atmosphere. Rooms were a bit dated but we were only in our room to sleep so it did not bother us. Recommend getting the all inclusive plan, it pays for itself within 2 days just for food and drinks let alone the water toy rentals.
Oh Bolongo Bay! Where to start? My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Bolongo Bay 2 years ago and we absolutely fell in love with this place. As soon as we got there, we were welcomed and greeted with beverages. Everyone was so friendly and courteous. The beach was absolutely gorgeous! Yes, there are rocks when you get in the water first, but that's how most of the beaches are in St Thomas (I've been to quiet a few of them). Food was just phenomenal! We spent most of our time snorkeling, swimming at the pool, and hanging out at Iggies Beach Bar. Our room was okay, but we hardly spent any time in our room anyways. If you are very picky about how your room looks and are going to spend all day in your room, you will probably get disappointed. But if you are planning on having fun, enjoying the beach and relax, this is definitely the place to be.
July 2015 Me and my Girlfriend had an awesome time at Bolongo Bay Resort. Everyone was extremely nice. There's a bartender by the name of 007 was amazing, Ms. Venita was very helpful and made are stay wonderful. We also took an Island Tour with Ms. Delita, she was also amazing! I also recommend taking the jet ski tour. We stayed all inclusive and the food and drinks were great. The room was okay, nothing lavish....but nice place to rest your head after all the fun you will have.
Great hotel good food nice for price good customer service.
I don t even know where to start. Our experience here has been unlike anything else. From them moment we got here we were treated like family. The staff learned our names and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We happened to be here while Dorian hit and we were moved out of the honeymoon suite into a different room for safety precautions. Once the storm was over we were moved back to our honeymoon suite. We were served three meals on the day the hurricane hit, and NEVER lost power. We had never been through a hurricane and we felt safe the entire time. Do not look any further when booking a resort on St. Thomas, this is the place you will want to stay.
Love! Love! Love! the folks & the beauty that Bolongo Bay Beach Resort has to offer - The folks are fantastic and so is the food. They have tons of activities to enjoy. I have been to this resort many times over the years and will continue to come back. I would highly recommend that you book your next vacation at this little slice of paradise.
Best part was the swimming pool! Great server (older lady). Food was ok, but too many iguanas:(((
I was married there and I cant imagine anyine doing a better job
Very nice entertainment!! Live band was wonderful!
I was blown away. Beach is beautiful, bring water shoes. All equipment, ranging from snorkel gear, to stand up paddle board to wind surfing is complimentary! Expect to sign a release and know your limits. Shout out to Chris at the equipment shack on the beach. That guy went above and beyond any service i have experienced anywhere. Please tip those folks well. Additionally, if you want to party till the sun comes up on the beach till the sun comes up, you can as long as you dont bother anyone. Nobody is going mess with you. The rooms here have minor cosmetic issues from humidity and chipped floors which is expected at a beach resort. Who cares though! You aren't going to be spending much time there anyways! The staff does a great job at keeping the rooms neat and tidy and respect your gear.
The best thing about staying here had to be the restaurant. All of the servers at the restaurant were very sweet especially Merus and Alyssa . The whole staff seemed to be friendly. Most of the food was good I definitely think I should ve took more vantage of the all inclusive deal. There is not much entertainment at this resort. They have a band but the Band leaves at 9 o clock and I don t really remember the band playing music the time we were there but I remember them setting up speakers. I really wish there was more entertainment!!! Another thing that was absolutely horrible is that I think the room we stayed in had bed bugs!! My legs were eaten alive! I went to the doctor when i got home . I tried to let the resort know but they called them gnats! Like really ?! And also we had a plumbing issue in our room that they tried to tell us to plunge like it was done purposely. Overall it was an ok stay but not for the price especially during Covid. I wouldn t recommend this place to my family or friends.
Seaweeds on the water. Water not as clear and blue as advertised. Mosquitos were atacking at the restaurant in the evening so we started eating inside the room. But them cockroaches started to come in. Staff is really nice though. 2 stars because it is overpriced
We are here now! Just let me say I love this place!!! I ve been to many different beautiful places, however Bolongo Bay takes the cake! Not because it s just that beautiful , but because I love the atmosphere, the people, EVERYBODY HERE from the owner (who is very personable) learns your name, and treats you like family! The rooms are beautiful, our view was perfect! Mr Leroy brown was awesome!!! I can t say enough about our experience this far!! My husband and I are having a wonderful time, and discussing when a good time will be to come back!!! 4 thumbs up from Whitney and Derrell Turner!!
Footloose & Fancy-Free, best bartender in the Caribbean (007)!!
My husband and I loved our stay at the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort! It was very quiet and a beautiful area. You can see how hard the staff has been working to build up this resort after the hurricanes, and we are already planning our 5 year anniversary here again! We spent our honeymoon at this resort, and we had the opportunity to venture off to other places in the area, but we were happy to return every night for a week to the resort. Izzy's bar was awesome, the food is great, and we enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling that was provided by the resort on their private beach. The help that they give to the stray cats that were left behind after the hurricanes was extremely impressive as well. Keith, the manager, sought to our needs and really helped personalize our experience and make it unforgettable. Thank you Bolongo Bay, I am missing you a lot right now! [in freezing cold Michigan :)]
Resort was great, food was good. Tour desk was really helpful . Only thing that's was bad was despite reporting to desk 3 times, we had to take cold showers every day. Has a great time still recommend
My wife and I were at this resort for 3 nights and 4 days, October 22nd - 25th. We chose the All inclusive package at a rate of $386 a night (which included a 15% gratuity added to any meal or drink - which is a amazing adage to know that the servers are receiving tips even if you choose not to add any extra cash - we like to do anyways). Anyone choosing to stay at this resort should pick the all-inclusive, simply because for the four days that we were there, we tallied a over $1,200 food and beverage total.
The food was amazing as well as the friendly servers even though the speed of the servers were on what some would call "Island time". I would highly suggest that you order at least two drinks to hold you off. But I highly suggest that you try the fish tacos!
When it comes time for drinks, look for the server named 007! Be careful though, because if you want to drink made right, make sure that you don't double up on your portions because you will get exactly what you ask for.
Right under the restaurant area where you will eat, you will find a very well maintained pool that is NOT over chlorinated with a swim up bar (the wife and I spent a good portion of the day there... 007 did us right!
When it's time for water excursions, head over and see Nate! One of the most friendly people I have ever met. He will shoot you straight and tell you what you need and what you don't.
Now here is this portion of what we found to be not exactly discouraging or a deal killer in any way (considering the amazing all inclusive price), but to help anyone looking to stay here on what to expect.
Anyone staying at a resort most likely will ONLY be using the room to rest and recover from the long days and nights, and given the condition of the room we had stayed in, we too did not spend much time in it.
You'll have to consider that this property is over 30 years old, and is very outdated in many aspects. I'm sure there may have been other rooms that may have been in a nicer condition, but the room we were upgraded for free (which was a ocean view ground level room) needed quite a bit of work. Keep in mind, everything did work and we had no problems with any of the amenities, just the fact that it was very dated and some things needed to be "patched and painted".
Even though there were plenty of relaxing chairs and umbrellas to choose from, the beach was very small and there was at least half of it that could not be walked on without some type of protective footwear.
Overall my wife and I were very pleased with our stay, and with the customer service that we received as well as a amazing value for what we spent, I can see us returning to enjoy a even longer stay on that resort, especially if I get to hang out with Nate.
Please never change anything. Thanks Jonathan, O'neal and the entire staff at Bolongo Bay for making us feel at home. God I love this place.
Service is top notch. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Rooms are extremely dated and in need of a good scrubbing, especially in the bathroom and entrance areas by the door. All inclusive is suggested but be forewarned it's a lot more restrictive in times of service and food availability than you may be used to. The island is still recovering from hurricane damage and only one restaurant/food service location is included, and it's only available from 7:30am - 10:30pm. (Although the bar is open later depending on how busy they are)
Relaxing and fun, best all inclusive I have ever stayed. Would definitely go back!!
We had our wedding here with the coordinator from Royal Ocean Events, what a amazing wedding beautiful sight, great pictures, completely organized from beginning to end! Thank you!
Not what we expected. I would not go back. The air-conditioning was barely working, sea weed so bad the they bussed us to another beach, a public beach with limited services. Forget coffee in the morning, you have to go to the bar to buy a cup. The cup is very small and you have to pay for each refill. Not worth the money!
We have been staying here for about 5 days now and it has been great, food, staff , and atmosphere. Today though, we were extremely disappointed to find out they will be serving buffet style breakfast for the rest of the time, which was bare bones in terms of food . Old scrambled eggs, stale French toast/ English muffins and the bacon had run out with cold sausage . For an extra 750 dollars a person for an all inclusive plan, I would not recommend at all . I have never written a google review before but this was so infuriating that I had to tell other people that unless you want to spend 1400 for a buffet breakfast then I would not recommend this resort . Side note the staff and Vernita have been wonderful at this resort and I appreciate all the help they gave.
I simply cannot recommend Bolongo Bay - especially for the price. If you book off of just about any travel site, you'll be put into an "economy" room which is anything but made clear when you book. Economy rooms still have a view of the ocean (albeit from the second floor). I cannot speak to the other rooms, but our room had an air conditioner that not only was obscenely loud (like no sleep loud) but that froze over within 2 hours and would then not work - at all. We were told that you can't run the air for more than 4 or 5 hours or it freezes over. Funny - never had that problem at any other resort on the island. Could be because the air conditioners - which were all CLEARLY in disrepair - appeared to be from about 1980 and had spent decades in the unforgiving salty air. Our room had an endless trail of sugar (or other tiny) ants going through in one spot or another the entire week we were there. The woman working the gift shop couldn't have been more unpleasant if she were a porcupine with tourette syndrome. The breakfast offered on site is *ridiculously* priced - you WILL be driving to TooToo mall - trust me. The ONLY bright spot at Bolongo was the bar staff. I will most definitely not be back.
My husband and I spent our all inclusive honeymoon at Bolongo Bay June 2-June7, 2014. We had an excellent time. All of the staff was very friendly, helpful, and diligent. We enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere very much. It was the off season, so we were usually the only ones on the beach or at the bar. The resort provided beach chairs, towels, and shade and a number of different water toys and snorkeling equipment. At the advice of Laura, one of the managers, we took a sail on The Heavenly Days, Bolongo Bay's catamaran, to swim with the sea turtles. The crew was very professional and also answered any questions we had about the islands. Laura also was delighted to suggest an all day excursion to the British Virgin Islands. It was a great trip. We went to Virgin Gorda, St John, and Jost Van Dyke.
Our room at Bolongo Bay was nice, although the air conditioner wasn't very effective. We didn't mind, because we spent most of our time on the beach. The two restaurants had a large variety of items to choose from, and every meal was very tasty. Iggie's is a laid-back beach bar with bar-b-que, fish & chips, steak, tacos, basically anything you want, and great drinks. The Lobster Grille is a little more upscale with 4 course meals like: conch fritters, the wedge salad, lobster, grilled fish, creme brule, key lime pie. It was all delicious. We definitely recommend the Bolongo Bay to honeymooners and families, too. They do a great job at making it feel like home when you are there. Thanks to all the servers and bartenders!
I really like the place but you must see security to protect your customers last night I had a problem with my boyfriend and he was attacking me and nobody did anything to stop
This resort is the best in St. Thomas to stay at. When arrived we were met by Riccardo, and then Daniella, and the Manager Keith Brown. We were treated as were VIP during our 5 day stay. Everything is here, clean rooms, great WiFi, pool, beach, bar (introduce yourself to the bartender 007, he aims to please), and restaurant (cucumber salad is out of this world), and the restaurant ladies have the inside to get around the island cheap. Anything that is not on the property, go see Riccardo or the concierge ladies in the gift shop, they'll do the leg work with there numerous contacts on the island. Get a map of the islands, point at what you are interested in, and go see it! Wife and I celebrated 40th anniversary and we have traveled the world, accommodation do not get any better. Keith Brown and his staff are doing an outstanding job. We will be back! Thank You For The Hospitality!!
Everything is wonderful. The atmosphere is amazing. I want to live here.
Really enjoyed Iggys onsite restaurant. Nice for a quick reasonable bite to eat with good drinks. The beach wasnt anything spectacular but it did have one of the few nicer pools ive seen on the island. The onsite giftshop was cute with a couple unique items
The best vacation we ever took. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We cannot wait to come back and we definitely will!
Iggies is a great place! The staff, ambience and food are awesome!
I have been to so many Sandals & Beaches all inclusive resorts...and they are nice for sure, but Bolongo Bay is absolutely my new favorite! So nice, great family owned place....loved meeting Mike and everyone, they treated us like we were at home. Can not wait to get back....and loved the island so much....maybe someday I will be lucky enough to call the island home too :)
Without a doubt one of my favorite hotels during our time in the U.S. Virgin Islands! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff, our names were written on the board and we were upgraded to the room with a View. The staff were extrmely friendly, shout out to our bellman Samuel. The resturant was flexible ( we appercated this!) along with the Food delicious and the resturant staff extremely polite Kevin Vincient deserves a special thanks.
The second day, we decided we wanted to stay at Bolongo and enjoy their all-inclusive equipment provided ( bear in mind I've never kayaked before). We had flipped the kayak over and two of the staff members observed what had happened came to help. I mentioned I dropped my phone and one of the staff Chris went above and beyond to retrieve it. Thank you Chris! Another special thanks to Virnita for arranging our tours.
Note, this is not a 4/5 star hotel, but the atmosphere is so special it really felt like home to me. All special thanks and respect to the staff, the cooks, the managers for doing an outstanding job; a true example of excellent hospitality!
This place has to be one of if not the best value in St Thomas. The place was older, but still nice and kept up. One minor complaint is our room was a little smelly at first. Almost musty a bit of a fishy smell. Not sure if it had something to do with being in the beach room. But it seemed to go away after a day or 2. Almost all the food we ate was top notch. Especially for being all inclusive, I didn't expect to have near the options we did and the quality we did. Both restaurants and bars are really nice I think. Lots of fun little activities and games around. And they had different fun things going on there each night. And a lot of great love music at Iggies! Surprisingly everything there was much better than expected. And most all the staff at the resort and the restaurants were some of the kindest people We've ever met! And we especially LOVED Cornelius! Plus I could name many other names of staff we just loved!
Gorgeous resort on one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean. Very good restaurant, great beach and plenty of things to do.
Food was great, staff was nice and helpful. Rooms was clean just out dated. Like a normal hotel room nothing flashy.
I usually have excellent stays here. I have been here at least 8 times over the past 26 years. My last stay was the least enjoyable and was probably due to turnover and the fact that they are still recovering from two massive hurricanes in 2017. My room reservation was mixed up but corrected. Not a good way to impress your lady to start off the trip. We never had hot water though we asked for it to be fixed repeatedly. The water sports staff was nice but not very professional. After teaching 3 of them some things about sailing their catamarans, they had the nerve to scold me for sailing out too far from the beach. In front of my lady no less. We could have stayed 2 more days but didn t. Maybe they will do better next time. It is a great resort. Small with a nice beach and pool. A good restaurant with open air views of their nearly private cove. Although my stay was not great, it is still my favorite resort. When Iggies opens back up and the new people jell it will get its family feel back. It is just lacking that appeal that it has had. I know they will get it back but probably not until 2020.
My experience was ok based on limited resources because of hurricane damages.
Beautiful place for families and couples. The beach is a little rocky but there's entertainment and the water is blue.
Very nice! Right on the ocean with a lot of fun activities! The workers are super nice and it is very tropical. They have hotel transportation, live music, all day food, and an amazing bar. I suggest going here if you needed a hotel.
Family owned resort. Great renovation and restoration after hurricane
Great resort. Friendly staff. Very relaxing and lots of things to do. A restaurant is on the resort. It is right on the beach
