While we enjoyed the food both restaurants provided, everything else was substandard. We did the all inclusive which I would highly recommend as it pays for itself within 2 days. I have to give this a 1 star rating and highly discourage anyone from staying here for a number of reasons. The rooms are extremely dated and dirty. The beach is also not a great swimming beach. However, my biggest problem with this resort is they do not treat for the no see-ums nor do they educate or warn their guests. My entire vacation was destroyed. We came home with 150+ bites each that are painful, extremely itchy, and torture at night. They told us just to put bug spray on but even that didn't help. We were literally eaten alive and had no indoor dining options so our dining experiences were not enjoyable. Do not stay here.

Absolutely loved this place. Very laid back, friendly and quiet. Rooms were as pictured, a little older, but the views were amazing! Would definitely return.
Stayed at bolongo bay recently for our honeymoon. The staff was very professional and nice! We loved meeting Tammy from the gift shop! She was so nice and helpful! The rooms were clean. The restaurant did the job but was nothing to scream about. I suggest venturing out to red hook! We also went on a snorkeling trip through bolongo and the boat crew rocked! They were fun! We appreciate them not cancelling the snorkel trip when there were only 6 people
Excellent beach bar! We stopped here as visitors from a cruise ship and were made to feel as welcome as any resort guest. The water was great and just wading in we saw several colorful tropical fish. There are iguanas along the beach that live there, so be prepared to say hello. They kept their distance, but didn't mind you walking up to them. The bay is beyond gorgeous and worth checking out. We spent our while day here and it was worth every second.
It is very hard to put into words how amazing this trip was! It was an incredible experience I will never forgot. Not only was the Island and Resort perfect, but the staff was top notch. A special thank you goes out to Micky, Jay, Derek, and Keith for making us all feel so special and welcome. You personally made our trip even better and our whole crew is so appreciative of how cool you all were! We are already planning our return trip this summer!
The good: Rooms include a fridge. Competitively priced. Iggies has lunch and dinner at reasonable prices for a resort. A lot of inlcuded activities, snorkeling, baseboards, hobbie cats, etc. Beautiful beach access right on property. Pool. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Areas to improve: No microwave. In room coffee is not good. Needs to include more condiments OR have a coffee bar (espresso) in the lobby or bar at the pool. Rooms are dated and all tile. Easy to track sand into the room and your feet will get dirty from walking the tile. Mats the door entrance would help a lot. A foot shower in the common areas would also help.
Bottom line, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
I had read the reviews that were made mostly prior to the hurricane and had my hopes high. Day one, room one- the drawer was busted which wouldn't have been a big deal had there been a closet (which there wasn't.) Beachfront consisted of looking at what once was a restaurant. Food wait times were insane, we spent half of our first day just waiting for food. The server even had the audacity to charge a shot that he took, while on shift, to our bill. The shower was tiny to begin with and the showerhead was bent and was pointing at the wall, making it nearly impossible to even shower. Day two, room two- slightly cleaner, now on the second floor, there is no hot water. We had to run all sinks at the same time to get any warm water for the shower. This was our honeymoon so needless to say we had enough. We switched hotels on day three and were finally able to enjoy our vacation. Bolongo bay was beyond disappointing....
Has one of the best scenic views you can imagine. In addition an amazing staff, Sam and Bailey will make sure you're taken care of when it comes to getting around to places. 007 has your drinks. But really the entire stuff is legit
Staff was helpful and friendly, food was amazing, and I love the live music they had. Drinks were very good too. Everything was clean and nice beach. One complaint I have it that our shower was not clean when we got there. It had old soap all over the walls. Other than that it was a great honeymoon we had! You have to do the parasailing! It was the best!
We love Bolongo Bay and come back every year! It's family owned and they all make you feel very special without fawning. The food is amazing and we're planning our next trip for this year.
Went ti Bolongo Bay on our honeymoon. Got the honeymoon package. The people were absolutely wonderful! We arrived late and they had sandwiches and fresh fruit waiting for us in our room. The service was great and the food was always good. All of our excursions were top notch. Loved this place because it was small and intiment. Would definitely go again.
It was wonderful, the family who owns the resort are the nicest people, the staff are wonderful, plenty of stuff to do there and a short drive to downtown.
Its ok. Kind of pricey for what you get. Attention is good. Employees are friendly. I had trouble adjusting the shower water temperature, too cold then too hot never a consistent temperature. There were many mosquitos in the room even though the air conditioner is on. The beach is not that great, rocks weed ect. It is close to Red Hook where the are many good restaurants. It is close to town. Overall good but not great. I had stayed in cheaper and better hotels on the island.
I visited here as part of a 4 day trip to St Thomas for a girlfriend's 50th birthday getaway with four of us all together. I would like to go back for longer. This is a comfortable location, the food is delicious, and they play fun bands with great music. I want my family to see and experience it too. Great beach, friendly staff, and great island vibe. I want to return!
My wife and I went to Bolongo for our first anniversary and it was absolutely the best trip ever ! The hospitality , the food , the scenery , the staff , the iguanas ... Everything was perfect ! The sunset cruise on Heavenly Days is a must! Painkillers are a definite must . All-inclusive is a must if you plan to hang around the resort... You definitely can't go wrong with Bolongo! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We can't wait to get back!
Our experience was THE BEST! There is not one thing that we would change! We got married on the beach and had a sunset cruise on the catamaran. Everyone was amazing and the food blew our minds! We LOVE Bolongo and cant wait to come back!
Sorry for such the late review Bolango it was well overdue! We stay at Bolango last November and me and my wife had the time of our lives (we actually were married on the beach right outside of Bolango!!!) We stayed all inclusive which included 3 meals a day and free drinks at the bar I highly suggest going all inclusive! This was our first trip to the Virgin Islands and we plan on coming back especially to Bolango and iggies!!!
I am happy to have had the opportunity to experience St. Thomas at it's most vulnerable state after the hurricane bcuz I was able to see the natives at their best selves doing what they do best which was rebuild & take care of one another, these people are so self reliant they don't have traffic lights bcuz of the hurricane (still)(they are a property of the u.s., like p.r.)and I only saw 1 accident in 2 weeks. As for Bolongo Bay Beach, it was FANTABULOUS, I don't know about the resort, I had a villa & we shared the beach. The beach was dreamy, it was set in its own lil nook of the island, not many people use it bcuz when the sun is in the sky there is no shade and the bugs start eating you early in the morning but otherwise than that it's a beautiful beach to wake up to I would recommend bolongo Bay to anyone
We absolutely fell in love in 2010!! The people and beauty makes you feel right at home. We stayed all inclusive at Bolongo in a budget room. Everything exceeded our expectations. The food was amazing! We relaxed on the beach most days but did do some shopping, enjoyed the sunset sail, and took a tour on a jet ski. We have another trip planned to see more of the Island! It just felt like home so much we joked that if I could get my horses there we would move. Bolongo will always be our home away from home and we will always be planning our next trip there!
I just returned from an 8 day 7 night stay at the Bolongo Bay. This was our first time in St Thomas and we were glad that we chose the Bolongo Bay. The staff, food and service were superb. There are plenty of activities that are included with your stay. We went Kayayking, paddle boarding and took the Sunday Funday cruise. The staff at the beach hut were super helpful - they even went out with my family and I kayaking too make sure we were comfortable. Drinks were amazing 007 sure knows how to make them! Kevin the restaurant manager always checks in with the guest to make sure you have everything you need. Shot out to Derek, Nathan, Mickey and Melissa at the beach hut - you guys made our stay extra especial. We definitely recommend the Bolongo Bay - by the end of your stay you ll feel like you are hanging out with family ! Last but not least Mike the hotel manager was super friendly always chatting with hotel guest and making sure you are enjoying your stay! Bolongo Bay is our new go to hotel for our ST Thomas vacations!
Me and my family are at bolongo bay beach resort as we speak i could not ask for a better place to spend my vacation all the staff is super friendly and vey helpful. The food and drinks are perfect if you have the chance come check it out. Me and my family will be returning without a doubt.
My best friend and I went here as a gift from my husband as we both turn 50 this year. Neither of us have ever been to the islands. We loved it, Bolonga Bay staff is super friendly and welcoming. They helped us with our daily plans. Iggies was great and to have a bar/ restaurant poolside was awesome. The beach area was great, I sat there each morning and watched the sunrise. Our room was comfortable with everything we needed and we had a great view of the beach and ocean. Not far to Mountain top and Magens Bay(such a beautiful beach) We even did parasailing about 15 minutes from there. It really is a great place to stay. I only wish the bands played later than 9pm.
We left Emerald Beach resort who had recent damage to come here with our 10 wedding party members. The staff was fun, helpful & accommodating. Thank you Danni, Jordan, Keith and everyone else at the restaurant. The food and drinks were great! The conch bites and jerk wings were our favorites. The beachside pool and bar had amazing views, was clean and exactly what you would expect when on vacation! Our rooms were clean and we always had a taxi within 10 min. I just wish they told me they had the all inclusive option as we didn't do that until the last day, made things much easier! Thanks Bolongo Bay for saving our wedding vacation and honeymoon!
My partner and I had an incredible time at Bolongo Bay. The resort is beautiful, the water clean and decent snorkeling, and nice rooms to spend the night in. We had the "all inclusive" package which included ALL FOOD and ALL DRINK...worth every single penny. Both onsite restaraunts were excellent. We did the snorkeling with the turtles excursion which was a lot of fun. All the staff of Bolongo Bay was incredible, very helpful whenever we needed and very courteous. Alan and I cannot wait to go back!!
My visit was before the hurricanes, but this place was friendly, accommodating, reasonably priced, and had good food and drink options. All inclusive was definitely worth the price up front, and it was just a generally good experience all around. If I'm back in the USVI then I will stay here again.
Got put here in an air B&B by accident previously booked air B&B canceled on us at the last minute so I called Michael from bongo bay condos he went above and beyond to help and it was the best air B&B we had stayed in at the Caribbean we will be at bongo bay from now on
No hot water in shower, warm after letting run for five minute. Black mold in bathroom, on door, in shower, and along baseboard. Drain grate in shower was not connected to drain. This is all because of poor management, poor Maintenance, and just lack of care. Stayed here six months ago, had a week booked and left after one day. Manager ask not bash hotel on internet and I agreed. Here we are six months later nothing has changed accept price it is now 320$ a night. Shame on me for thinking the manager was sincere when he blame it on slow response after Hurricanes. It s almost two years later, the slow response is him, staff, and owner of this hotel. So much potential!! Just Sad the lack of care. The one star is for the view. I wish I could post pictures!!
This is a great little spot that was great to visit for our ten year anniversary. While they are still recovering from the hurricanes that devastated the area the resort is still beautiful and the staff accommodating. This is the only all inclusive place on the island. The food was good and had great portions. At times the service was a little slow but it seemed to really vary depending on which waitress you had. Also, remember everything is run on island time, so relax and dont rush. The watersports equipment was free for guests to use and it was all in excellent shape. Tours of St Thomas and St John are available for an extra fee. I highly recommend them! We did snorkeling with the sea turtles and had a blast. The staff of Heavenly Days are excellent and never once did I feel unsafe.
Went there for our wedding in 2012....it was beautiful the staff was amazing and the food was awesome!!!! The ocean was beautiful the boat was fun and Lori was incredible!!!! Went back two years later and the staff remembered us!!! I can t wait to take our daughter there
I came here with intentions of having the all around best experience and sadly expectations were not met. Stayed for six days and regret not checking out and going someplace else! I experienced some poor customer service skills first with server Tamisha. Arguing with me for not having reservations for dinner after being out on there sunset cruise all evening the baby and I were tired and hungry I understand due to Covid space is limited even though there were only 10 people seated maximum capacity of 50. I would have gladly taken my food to my room but her argumentative attitude was extremely unprofessional! Second off my room was only cleaned the night before I left don t think they are taking the proper precautions with cleanliness and sanitation of the rooms. Third my child and I were on the beach when Loire I believe a member of management rudely told me and my child to get off the beach there was a wedding going on we weren t in the way and didn t like her approach we paid some good money to be here just like everyone else and they should definitely block off the beach while ceremonies are being held! I plan on coming back and definitely will NOT stay here again! I will mention that sever Maggie was extraordinary as well as the bell men and gift shop hosts!! I strongly suggest Tamisha and Lorie could learn a lot from those folks!
My boyfriend and I stayed here March 2018 for my birthday. THE STAFF THERE WAS AMAZING!!! They really made you feel welcomed, especially the people working at Iggies. I would Love for people like them to work at all resorts. However, the rooms were filled with roaches. I had To ask for raid and they had it.... gave me the whole thing too. I had a really hard time sleeping bc i was scared of what else the room may have had. So we stayed out a lot partying to avoid sleeping. Other than the roaches and them not having any hot water the stay was good. I probably wouldn t stay there again. Well if the roach problem get fixed .. Maybe.
We went to Bolongo to get married. We were there for 12 amazing days. We felt like family with the staff. The room are clean. The wedding planner, Lori and her crew were amazing. They made our day stress free. We had our kids there with us for a week. Very safe place to be.
We had a wonderful time while at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort! The food and staff were incredibly . Nate was ready to assist you with snorkeling and kayaking . It s a great place for couples or families.
We continue to visit Bolongo Bay Beach Resort every year. We find everything about it perfect for us-the staff, location, amenities, as well as the food and drinks. We genuinely feel welcome by everyone, and it makes all the difference in the world. I can t say enough about the owners and staff. The location is picture perfect. The food is always great. Fantastic drinks. We enjoy the beach, the pool and pool bar, water sports, sailing on their catamaran Heavenly Days, and have had a great family experience with St Thomas Dive Center located on sight. You can do as much as you d like, or simply relax. We travel quite a bit, and enjoy seeing new places. But Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is the only one we always return to. I recently asked my wife where else she would like to go as a back up this summer (with all that s going on in the world)-she replied Bolongo Bay or we will stay home . I guess that sums it up. See you when you open in July, and thank you for all the great memories!!
**Pros**: - Quiet. Initially when I visited this resort I regretted it. I had went with my family so I wasn't expecting to party. The resort had a bunch of loud college aged men and woman drinking, they we're there for a chili cook out contest that the resort used to / or still holds. It seemed like some type of spring break setting. They we're only there for an hour after we arrived because not even an hour later they all vacated the resort and didn't return for the remainder of my 7-day stay. While they were there though I was impressed by how the resort treated me and my family; as we ate in the early afternoon (soom after checking in) they had put one of their security guards to stand close to our table to make sure everything checked out and that we werent bothered until that event was over. If you go to this resort just ask whenever that event is and if it's still even something that the resort hosts anymore so you won't be subjected to that nonsense. I don't even think those people were staying at the hotel because I never saw them again and hadn't seen them check out either.
- great food! My family and I ate breakfast lunch and dinner there throughout our stay. It was delicious each time. The waitress that tended to us each day was nice enough to give extra banana but bread whenever we were finished because we loved it so much.
- great prices, especially if you go at the right time and get a special.
**Cons**: - the beach water at this private resort isn't as clear as the water at the public beaches. We would take a taxi everyday to Coki Point Beach to enjoy the clear water there. Though it was a public beach it wasn't overly crowded or filled with loud party people looking for trouble.
- the beach water at the resort had many stingrays on the ocean floor! The worst part was since the water wasn't clear you couldn't see if you we're near one. My sister got stung by one on her hand during our stay and it was extremely painful! At coki beach however there were many jellyfish that stung me as I swam out so I'm not sure which is worse. On the positive side though, I was able to see the jellyfish as they swam closer to me lol...
**Would I go again?**: - even though there were many pros, no I would not go again. The ocean water was a deal breaker. I haven't been to this resort in a while so I'm not sure what's changed and if the beach water is better but when I went the water was not turquoise or see through.
I paid for an all inclusive resort in order to have a private beach setting. Though coki beach was quiet, I shouldn't have had to spend so much money on a taxi everyday in order to enjoy clear beautiful ocean water.
One place we keep going back to enjoy. May God keep the Doumeng family and all their many friends in his heart during this terrible storm. We hope to be back this Winter/Spring.
Great place! My wife and I have visited 3 times and will book a 4th for later this year. We ve have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and this is BY FAR our favorite! People are terrific and they treat us like family! Food is great, beach is fun and they ve recovered nicely from recent hurricanes. If you want a place to have a terrific, relaxing and safe vacation, this is the place.
I first came upon Bolongo in 2007 on the American Airlines vacation website. In just under a week I will be making my 8th visit. Bolongo is the only place i stay. Food and drinks are phenomenal and the entire staff is very friendly and helpful. It s my home away from home in the Caribbean. Highly recommend regardless if you get the European pay as you go or the all inclusive, which is what I always do.
My husband and I went to Bolongo for a belated honeymoon. This was a last-minute Plan B trip as initially we were scheduled to stay at an all-inclusive in The Bahamas but COVID changed those plans. Bolongo is a great getaway so long as you re okay with no-frills lodging. While the all-inclusive is as advertised, I wouldn t consider Bolongo to be luxurious or romantic. Overall, we had a great time and were able to unwind but we probably could have gotten more value for our dollar if we stayed elsewhere.
Also, important to note we paid extra for the Island Bliss Honeymoon package, and for the most part, it was worth the money except for the His and Hers items. There was a lot of confusion with the front desk and the gift shop about what exactly is considered to be the His and Hers t-shirts. Also, I was excited to bring home the His and Hers champagne flutes but much to my disappointment they ended up being plastic Dollar Store flutes with nothing written or inscribed on them.
Lastly, we paid extra for an ocean view, however, most of the property faces the water so odds are good you ll have an ocean view. If you re trying to save money, I d take your chances. Also, since there is no room service, we never enjoyed breakfast or had coffee in bed or on the balcony because one of us would have had to walk to the resort restaurant to pick up the food and mimosas. You can only carry so much.
Pros: Safe Deposit Box in room Free Water Equipment Rentals (Nate and Jonathan are awesome) Gift Shop on Site (Ask for Terrific Tammy Thompson) Swim-up Bar with Strong and Delicious Drinks (Bartender Melinda goes above and beyond) Heavenly Days catamaran excursions: Sunset Cruise and Swimming with Turtles (Crew mate DeAnna is one of the coolest people I ve ever met) Live music several nights a week (6-9 p.m.) Cons: Outdated lodging (Bathroom toilet didn t flush, and the shower is tiny) No airport shuttle, room service or secure guest Wi-Fi Resort location is isolated from everything so the only way to explore the rest of the island is to pay for taxis (A daily no-cost shuttle for guests to Red Hook, Charlotte Amalie would go a long way) Beach is tiny and rocky with lots of seaweed (Water shoes are a must) Food was decent but by Day 4 we grew tired of the same menu; Would love to see more specials added for lunch & dinner (Some menu ideas are grilled cheese, nachos, pizza, etc.); Coffee was not great Customer Service at Front Desk and in the restaurant was hit or miss
It was a nice room, stayed 4 nights..I wish the menu had a little more authentic food from the area. It was a very bland menu, most food I would make at home. Even the breakfast was very general nothing special. Cindy and Kevin in dining were very gracious and kind. Make sure to go and explore Coki beach take a taxi it won't disappoint! While there get the jerk chicken and the rice n beans so yummy!
We had a wonderful stay at Bolongo Bay! They upgraded our room for no cost for our anniversary. We received a complimentary sunset sailboat cruise that was so fun! The food and staff were amazing as well as the beach carnival and bar. The room are on the beach and the view was priceless. Can't wait to go again.
