RACIST, RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL!!

We were shopping for M5, this was our second dealership. When we started looking at the car Jerry was standing right there and asked us if we needed any help. I asked Jerry if he could start the engine, he said "Not everybody can afford this car, it will sound like any other M5". Anyways he started the car and said now you want to hear the music too? In a sarcastic way. I asked him to let's sit inside and talk the numbers.The advertised sale price for this particular car was $111k, we told him what other dealership had offered us but we liked this color better. Instead of saying no sorry I can't do it at this price he said " this car is too expensive, you can't afford it. Come back after few months we might have additional rebates". I said I want to buy the car today, he repeated, this car is too expensive for you and walked away from his desk. I asked the front desk to call the manager so we could talk to him. We waited for 15 mins or so, Jerry comes back to us and says " I am one of the managers do you want to buy the car for xx price? I told him how I felt about his behavior and how rude he was. He was like oh all I said was this car is little more expensive than other car you saw, the best we can do is at xx price. We refused to talk to him and walked away. He came behind us and said let me see if I can get you additional discounts. At this point we didn't want to buy any car from here even if he sold for half price and we just wanted to get out of this racist dealership. I was waiting for my wife at the door, Jerry comes and said can't do it and walks away.

I understand M5 is a expensive car.
Our offered price might have been under their cost but all he should have said was, Sorry we can't sell the car at this price, let's try to work out a deal.
The car was parked there since December 2015, that's almost 6 months.
We went back to East bay BMW and purchased the car we first saw. It is not about the money it's about Respect and how you handle your costumers .
Thanks to the Manager who never came outside of his office and talked to us.

Absolutely horrible customary service. Contacted these folks for a car that wasn't listed locally and Jessy Custodio - the so called sales manager sends me a reply with an email asking - 'Are you a local ?'
I was shocked at this very first response as I was trying to get the car that I liked from these guys. When I ask him if they sell only to locals he responds back by asking "Do you contact every other dealer in the state ??""
These snarky responses over email clearly tell me that THEY DONT CARE ABOUT ANY POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS AND DONOT WANT ANY OF MY BUSINESS.

Based on my experience - I would never again go or contact this dealership. If they respond to customers like this before the deal where everyone is nice - I don't know how they will treat people after you buy the car from them.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM FOR THEIR HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LACK OF ETIQUETTE.

I think by far this has to be the worst car shopping and humiliating experience i have ever had. I love BMW brand. I had 328I for a while and I loved it. Then I leased a 2013 infinity g37x. My lease will expire soon and I was really interested in 335I hard top convertible. I went to this dealership few times to check out their inventory and to see if they had the color combination I wanted. So I went there today. I was approached by this sales guy. His name was Bruce Marks.Thats what the card in his desk said. I asked him if I can test drive one of the 335I convertibles because thats what I was interested in. Get this!! He said he will only let me test drive the car if I commit to buy it. I said I can not commit to that because I don't even know how the car drives and if I am gonna like it or not. Here is the shocker, he just no and stared walked away from me. I was literally dumbfounded. As he was walking awayI asked him how he can treat a prospective customer that way. He pretty much implied that he had seen me at the dealership and I was just there to waste his time.
I was literally speechless to get this kind of treatment. I left the dealership completely humiliated. I think the GM at this place is terribly incompetent in hiring good sales people. I was wearing shorts, t shirt and flip flops because it was 90 something out side and I have brown skin. I am pretty sure he thought I didn't fit the profile. Looking at other reviews at google and yelp, my assessment seems correct. They profile and discriminate people at this dealership. I was a huge fan of bmw cars and am ready to get my new car but I will never ever go back to this dealership. I am planning to go back to Infinity where people are so friendly and eager to help. I am planning to test drive the new Q60 sport hard top convertible which is a direct competitor. I am positive if they offer me a good deal I will buy that one. I value a good service over everything. Screw BMW. Screw you Sonnen BMW. You lost a real good customer.

I was not happy with the service at this location. The sales associate was arrogant and the staff seemed unhappy to work there. Unfortunately, I purchased my car there so I feel like I have to go there for service. However, the management in Sonnen fixed an issue I was having, so, I was pleased with him; otherwise, I would not be returning.

We had a service warning come up on the dash and took the car ( a 2011 M3) in and left it for 3 days over a weekend. They somehow screwed up the lid to the ashtray so it wouldn't close. We've been trying to make a same day appointment to get it fixed for several days.

When we telephone, there is never a service person available to speak with us. Finally, after many tries, I got through to one. He asked who my usual person to deal with was. I told him. He said he was going to transfer the call. He cut me off. Nobody called back. The next day we tried calling again - all service representatives were again too busy to take my call.

We were going to buy a new M4, but the Sonnen service department may cause us to go to an Audi or Porsche.

I just leased my second BMW through Peter Rennert. He is very easy to work with. He is informative and patient. I did not feel pressure to make a quick decision. I would recommend Peter if you are considering a BMW purchase. San Rafael BMW is top notch. I also visited San Francisco BMW and their is no comparison. I purchased an x5 from David Aimaq. He treated me with respect and got me a great deal on my trade in. I love how it didn't feel like it usually does when buying a car. I felt comfortable and David wasn't pushy but he was still extremely knowledgeable about all of the vehicles I was interested in. Ultimately he helped me decide on the car that would be best for myself and my family. David made sure the process went smoothly and very quickly. I would recommend this dealership and David Aimaq to anyone who is buying a car.

Fast, smooth, easy car buying (leasing) experience.
I made an internet inquiry the night before, and Sunday morning I received a call from Jessy Custodio (internet sales manager). Not only did he patiently call back twice - not at all put off by my crazy rainy morning of kids/visitors/needing to call back from the car.

But he gave me a better deal right away, over the phone, than two other dealerships. He looked through inventory for a car that met my needs, and had sold me the car by eod. Loved his style -- direct, fast, and with a sense of humor. Made me want to be able to call him to make all my crazy purchases in life.

I m so grateful for BMW of San Rafael. This dealership is very organized and professional, they definitely take care of their customers. Tom, the service advisor is great and has helped me get any issues with my car sorted out quickly and stress free.

I regret buying my vehicle at another Bay Area BMW dealership as it s been nothing short of a nightmare from the moment I bought the car to any of the times I brought it in for service/repairs. When it comes time for a trade in I will definitely be going to San Rafael!

Our family just purchased our very first BMW! Peter Rennert in Sales at BMW of San Rafael was terrific to work with. A quintessential professional with an easy manner and great sense of humor, he remained a presence but never a pressure. He gave us his cell phone number and offered to meet us at our convenience at the dealership, if needed. We started our search last year, and Peter patiently worked with us as we made the ultimate (and best!) decision to buy a vehicle from him. We couldn't be happier with our selection and purchase. He kept us apprised of our vehicle's order and processing and at delivery, everything was handled and delivered as expected. While he must have made hundreds, if not thousands, of these sales before, he made our purchase feel special and was excited for us.

I had my first annual car check up and everything went smoothly till I got home and noticed the driver side door was still missing a small piece that had fallen off I had given the piece to the service tech but it either was lost or fell off during the washing of the car. Hopefully it can be replaced soon.

I can't say enough about how great this place is for servicing your BMW. Started going here to service my 335i many years ago.. the experience was so great that despite living within walking distance to Weatherford BMW I instead travel to San Rafael and it's worth it every time. Had them do all the servicing on my M340i from 2016-2019 and now bring my M4 there. They always get me a loaner quickly, service the car quickly, explain everything clearly, and detail the car upon return. I always see the same service manager (Robert) but I am sure they are all great!

I am super pleased with my new purchase!
( I was one of those ... " but I want this color, and this, and, I want it with that, etc, etc )
Suffice to say, it was not the easiest of tasks.
Luis C my Sales Specialist was AWESOME!
He got me what I wanted.
He got it done quickly.
He did it with Class and Charisma whilst remaining a total straight shooter.
They are lucky to have him.
Being in Sales myself, and can't stand that " transparent " " cheesy " BS that can often present itself with this occupation.

This concerns BMW servicing. I have been to BMW s around California over the years, and have friends elsewhere in the country with BeeeMers. One of the problems I ve had was to secure a loaner while they worked on my piece while I went to work. Most places have been like pulling teeth in California while my friends elsewhere, have had better luck. But, because I wasn t working, had my car taken in for a recall, they were very nice and gave me ride back home and picked me up to get my car. Professional and courteous drivers.

Generally, I ve been taking my car to independent service shops which specialize in these cars; cheaper and often closer to where I live to get quick rides, back and forth. But, of course, had to go to the BMW shop for this recall. These guys took care of the issue, free of charge, which I expected, but also detailed the inside of my car, without me asking and NOT charging me for it. That s beyond the call of duty, and they deserve a KUDOS shout out ! You guys did a great job !

In May i bought a Bmw 550i worth of almost $50000, and i found out that the car was involved in a accident. Front and rear bumper were repainted and left rear fender (panel) also it was reprinted.
I m very disappointed. I didn t expected from them to hide this to me .
Now I m looking to sell the car .
Bad experience, you can t trust anyone.

We had a tire damaged in San Francisco while dropping our daughter at the airport at 5am. We made it to San Rafae BMW at 6:30am. They were not open yet but the folks in the service department were there getting ready for the day. When I walked in and explained the situation they were very personable, professional and assured us they would do their best to get us back on the road ASAP. They had us sit in the waiting area, gave us coffee and bagels and made sure we were comfortable. As soon as they opened at 7 am they went to work replacing the tire.
My wife and I are very impressed with how we were treated and how quickly they were willing to help. Also one thing that stood out is that all of the employees were joking with each other and having a good time before they opened. Once the business was opened they were very professional with everyone. As a business owner I take this as happy employees, well ran business with a great group of employees.
Great job BMW of San Rafael!

I bought my 2009 BMW 328i at this location and aftermarket warranty almost 2 years a go, 1 year a go o took my car in cuz I saw a oil leak coming from valve cover gasket, they did the repair and I paid my deductible. 6 months later I saw the leak again. took my car in again and this time they said the valve cover was crack. Repair was about 1,800 cuz warranty did not cover that. I said why the fist tech who work in the car did not see that crack when the gasket was replaced. So I took my car to BMW of Berkeley y told them my story and they checked for me . Guess what the valve cover wasn't crack. The first repair wasn't done properly. They did the repair under BMW parts warranty. Did not pay anything.

You will be very sorry if you try to buy a car from this dealership. You will sit and wait for hours while an inapt sales representative leaves you hanging by the phone. They do not return phone calls. The dealership is great on giving you the run around. I waited for three hours with no return phone calls. I had given the sales rep all the information on the specific car I wanted that was at the dealership. I provided all the information on the car I was trading in. I called two more times and finally got to speak to the Sales Manager. He knew nothing about my deal. He would have the rep who I had talked to three hours earlier call me. I finally got a call, and the sales representative had nothing for me. He was still trying to put some numbers together. Three hours and nothing. I am taking my business to another BMW dealer.

Great experience can't say enough about Jonathan Joseph and staff. Jonathan was very detailed in his explanation of our X3. He's a real nice guy too. My wife and I were impressed the entire process of our purchase. The dealership is clean and really buttoned up. Highly recommend this place.

Disappointing sales experience. Seems as though I didn't fit their "customer profile", and was left alone for quite a while by the salesman who I had been in touch with (Jim), who also seem to know much at all about the car... to quote, "I'm not a product guy". Think I have enough hilariously bad quotes from the guy to write a screenplay. Sent him an email after I got home, asking him for the follow-up details he promised to send over, and no response after a few days. Definitely does not feel like the "premium" experience they seem to want to impart, and I guess I'm just not their "type" of customer. I don't think I've ever seen such poor salesmanship anywhere, be it Land Rover, Ferrari, Mercedes, Audi, Honda, Yugo, Macy's, Bob's Donuts... AVOID.

I never felt pressured and Luis made sure I was with the range of what I wanted to spend and my monthly payments. If you want a BMW see Luis he will take care of you.

I have experienced a remarkable amount of dealerships over the years, and I have to say that the Service Department at Sonnen BMW is bar none the best experience I have ever had. They are honest and up front with what to expect, follow up with phone calls to get approval for work that needs to be performed, without trying to add work on items like brakes and tires that are worn but still functions well. Their honesty is so refreshing. The availability for loaner cars or rentals is great and a breeze, so you get on your way quickly without having to sit for 30min having "coffee" while you wait for your loaner. This place is the diamond in the rough and the showcase for what service departments should be.

Sonnen BMW went above and beyond my expectations when purchasing my new BMW. Scott Signor and Jessy were amazing. I ended up ordering my car and Scott gave me updates all the time and made sure I was always up to date on the status. When my car arrived, Jessy made the process quick and painless. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I definitely will come here from now on for all of my BMW's. I am extremely impressed.

The dealer attempted to rip me off when I brought the car in for service. I asked for the yearly factory service on my BMW X-3. The service consultant, Robert Stephens, told me it would be about $1,050. I said ok assuming this was for the factory recommendation service. When I got home and examined the bill I discovered they charged me $280 to perform a "dealer recommended fuel induction service". BMW does not suggest or recommend that service. I never ordered it and it was never discussed with me. Their argument is that I approved the $1,050 charge so I implicitly approved this service. No I didn't. I had VISA cancel the charge and I am filing a complaint with the CA consumer affairs board.

I recently had the experience of dealing with David Aimaq. I rented a new BMW 3281 while having work done on my own BMW. Came back in the dealership to pick up my car. I then wanted a new car lol! David made everything so easy and stress free! I give him 5 stars for the patience he had with me, and all the cars he found to accommodate what I wanted.
Finding a car, and dealing with all the paperwork, payment options, and closing was a breeze! I highly recommend David and BMW of San Rafael for your next BMW purchase.
Thanks to David, I walked out with a brand new 328i

My wife and I were just looking and he explained all the features of the X5 and took us on a test drive even though we were not buying today. When we are ready to buy, it will only be from David. This place is amazing - and my sales guy Peter Rennert was even more amazing. My vintage 540i got caught in a flash flood. Needed a new car - boom! Had it in 2 hours - paper work and all. An X3. Had an X3 loaner while the car was prepped.

Changed my mind 3 days later. Asked Peter about a 640. Test drive: boom! Drove off the lot 2 hours later. No paperwork hassles, negotiations were very very reasonable - could not be happier. Cannot wait until my lease is up so I can do this again! 10 stars!!

I called the store back in November just to ask a few questions about there multiple leasing programs for the X1 and X2. I spoke with Jonathan (aka JJ). JJ explained the size difference and he had encouraged me to come in to test drive a few. I did my own research and decided that the X2 was the crossover that I was looking for. Fast forward to January. I wanted to go in so I could test drive the 2019 and 2020. But JJ was out of the office that day. That s when I met Chip. Chip welcomed me into the BMW San Rafael. He asked me what I wanted and then he let me take the 2019 or 2020 for a spin. It was love at first sight. I fell in love with the car. I went back a week later. I received the same warm welcome from everyone. I spent about 4hrs because I did an extensive test drive(30mins), and he explained almost every feature that the cabin had to offer, and then the paperwork part. They have clean restrooms and an awesome espresso machine. After waiting, I finally drove off with my new 2019 X2 all white of course. They allowed me to store my 2015 328i there until I had the time to come pick it up. My husband and I went the next day to pickup the old car. I just moved to the north bay and this will be my BMW store. Love you guys and my new car. I would advise anyone to shop online first, have a few stock numbers ready to provide to guys, and go on a weekday.

I owe this review from our 2015 and 2016 experience, and now 2018 too - this great place does not change! We all got 3 cars from these guys. I needed to write this review because... now I know how bad can be experience in other Bimmer dealerships.
I live in Moraga, and there is a Concord BMW right next to us. Thinking that the fantastic customer service at Marin was a standard for BMW, we went to Concord to return 2 of our leased cars. What a scam! First no one returned our calls for 2 days. Finally we just drove there without appointment. Our cars were pretty much perfect - as loved and cared for as possible, so we expected smooth and problem-free return. The 'lease specialist' found and marked every tiny blemish and scratch, and told us that normal wear and tear does not apply, and it will cost me about $3000! We lease cars all the time and know the rules, so I felt like highway robbery! When we disagreed she replied that she does not care and"she waisted 1 hour of her time on us". There was no "customer service". Not to mention that she gets paid for that, and we were the ones who took time off work and waisted it! We left with the feeling that we never going to get Beamer again!
Marin BMW is 50 min away, we drove there, as we had fantastic experience leasing cars with Peter! We should have done it in the first place. We got that "WORLD CLASS SERVICE" again, as 3 years ago, and all my anxiety was gone, and all I could say was - "BIG THANK YOU" and "never again in CONCORD BMW"!!!! Especially want to thank Brett Lynn, who (I think) is a Manager

Excellent customer service. I ve been going to BMW of San Rafael for about 5 years now and their customer service has consistently remained at a superior level which is a rare quality for companies these days. They are extremely friendly, very accommodating, extremely helpful with explaining any current or potential issues with my vehicle, fully transparent with all services and costs required to do any services or work. They also are extremely compliant with all safety regulations and/or requirements pertaining to COVID-19. My experience at BMW of San Rafael has always been a very pleasant one.

I purchased a 335i convertible in August of 2014 and Peter Rennert was my salesperson. At that time I was really impressed with his professionalism and enjoyed his honesty and patience with all my questions. Yesterday, my husband decided that he wanted to look into purchasing an M235 and we initially contacted the Mountain View sales office close to where we live and service my vehicle. They were very polite; however, we could not get the cost where we needed it to be. I remembered Peter who had followed up several times to see how may car was working out and suggested that my husband give him a call. Luckily, he was still working there and happily told ubout a sweet deal he had on a 2015 brand new car that was thousands less than the Mountain View vehicle. Time for a road trip where we were greated with hand shakes and smiles as if we were family. It was such a pleasant experience - nothing like what we were dreading we thought about braving the car salesman arena again. Friendly, quick, knowledgeable and reasonable prices. How can you beat that?? Ask for Paul, as he is kind - not at all pushy, and drives a BMW himself. You won't be sorry. When you dealing with a professional with years of experience, you walk away feeling like you made the right decision. Happy shopping!

Brought in my CPO 335d for its ~35k maintenance in...

Brought in my CPO 335d for its ~35k maintenance interval. Dropped it off at 9am and had an immediate shuttle to my work, a few hours later they called to say it was ready and another shuttle was there in 10 minutes to pick me up. The driver I had was fantastic, funny and knew the area really well. I got the car back and it looked like it had been detailed inside and out. They topped off the gas tank and sent me on my way. All around great service from Tom Smith and the service team.

The folks at San Rafael are FAB: I worked with Kevin Moran initially, but then switched to Jonathan Joseph on Kevin's reco, as he was out for the next couple of days. Jonathan was very patient with me as I went from considering the 4-series to exploring the much sportier (read: MORE FUN!) M235i. He went the extra mile (or five) on my test drive of the M235i, taking me on a long scenic route through San Rafael, and showing me all the ins and outs of switching from Comfort to Sport to Manual mode for the most fun and responsive drive. Needless to say, I fell in love. As much as they would've preferred to close the deal that day, they understood and accommodated my need to take a breath on the decision.

I went home to sleep on it (and do my homework), then returned the next day having done extensive research on the M235i, including competitive prices and offers at other dealerships, with a clear idea of what I wanted and needed to drive off that day. After a bit of back and forth, they didn't just match competitive offers, THEY BEAT IT. The General Sales Manager, Scott Signor, came out personally to tell me how important it was to them that I have a good purchase experience with a view to building a relationship, and gave the thumbs UP on my requested deal. And then Jonathan walked me step-by-step through the paperwork which was made a bit complicated given my particular circumstance of being mid-transition on a cross-country move. Even the Finance lead (who's name I've forgotten, my apologies!) was just a great guy who made a tedious process enjoyable.

The net of this story is that I walked away a very happy camper, and we'll be back to BMW of San Rafael when we're ready for our 2nd BMW!

Overall, they have friendly staff and they care about their customers. They also worked with you to get a good deal.
