We stayed at Big White in a private rental over NYE period. Conditions and skiing were great but they have some work to do on their organization. Website is very confusing and doesn't give you a lot of info on where things are located. Some tickets you buy up at the main village, others are purchased down at Happy Valley. Probably the worst experience ever was renting ice skates...my god, it was like we were back in 1970...I had to sign about 10 different forms and it took us over an hour before we had our skates. Similar experience with the tubing - total chaos and disorganization. The shuttle was also totally unreliable and just wouldn't show up at all, forcing me to walk up a very steep hill with 2 small children. Also - some of the staff at the restaurants were incredibly rude. I should probably review those separately as I know they are privately run but seemed like a lot of young kids with big attitude and incredibly bad customer service. We would go back to Big White but likely not during the busy season.

Amazing! Looking for an unreal mountain then you ve found it! 160 runs, 14 chair lifts; amazing scenery and atmosphere. What more could you ask for? A beer? Just ski into the village and pick a spot.

Great place to ski with the family. Fairly close to Kelowna airport. Good variety of restaurants and shops. My only gripe is signage on the mountain. When you visit first time and unfamiliar with the mountain it's very easy to take wrong turn. Trail signs are often missing when there is a split or turn. Some trail hardness markings are not accurate as well in my view. But overall, great mountain with plenty of snow and variable terrain for different ski levels.

The constant white-outs are a major bummer (and make me consider changing the mountain I ski at), but that's not their fault.

Me and some of my family members stayed here at stony ridge (condo). The hill had everything for everyone, my brother inlaw and I like skiing the black diamond runs while my girlfriend, her sister and my other brother inlaw and sister inlaw liked the blue and green runs! While we were skiing alot we still had time to go see my niece do her skiing lessons (she is 3 and she killed it!).
All I can say is it is the best ski in/ ski out hill ever. There was something for everyone of all ages across all skill levels. Oh yea they also have other stuff then skiing ie. Tubing, ice skating, snowmobiles, ice wall climbing and much much more. Had the time of my life and we will be back next year 100%.

We ve been there on Sunday, Family Day long weekend. It was super busy!
The resort is really pretty and has a nice atmosphere. My husband went skiing and I registered for a snowboarding lesson.
The lesson could have been better, I saw people with other teachers having more fun and having more progress, but my instructor was a nice person.
The lesson is the average price, but the lift ticket is very expensive comparing to other ski resorts.
Overall we had a good time.

I have been hiking at big white every year for the last four years. I love it! Unfortunately I have not been in the winter time but I can imagine it would be beautiful. Nice resort and I highly recommend it if your in the area. Alaska airlines has a deal where If you fly in and bring your boarding pass the same day, you get a free lift ticket! Awesome deal!

We were living in Kelowna but recently moved back to Ontario. Big White is the best Mountain to play on. Great runs, great snow, and not many lines. We've been to a few resorts where the lines are crazy long to get onto the lift. There is basically no wait at Big White, and it's a great mountain. Our season passes really got used this past season. Hoping to return in the future!

Well developed, country-feel and lots of charming Aussies. Winter has Lots of decent children's Green and long Blue-runs, moderate amount of Black-runs and slightly lacking in double-black difficulty. Lift passes are inexpensive for the reliable Chairlifts (I have occasionally sat through a 20+ minute chair breakdown but... Meh) and varied skiing terrain, the Cliff-bowl ridge has an amazing view of the Rockies. The non-ski or boarding crowd can enjoy the tube-park or skating, many tiny shops in the two village areas. There are a few bars and pubs, nothing fancy.

A great family holiday location. Ski school for kids is awesome, very well organized. It's safe, don't get too many noisy party goers waking everyone up in the early hours. Nice ski hills, queuing is minimal, longest I waited was 5 mins. Food options range from pizza, steak house, tapas and more. We find that 5 days is enough, we have done longer but we needed a break so we headed into Kelowna for a change of scenery. So if you want a relaxed break with kids or a break from the hustle and bustle this is the place. Oh, did I mention the powder? The skiing is way better than Whistler for its champagne powder, rarely do we go and have to ski on ice.

We recommend putting the kids (or adults) in lessons every morning before regrouping for lunch and heading out as a family for an afternoon all together. Ensures that everyone gets to ski at their own ability and develop before enjoying the lovely snow as a group.

I love making the trip to BC for the snow and Big White did not disappoint. Awesome resort with absolutely anything you could want. Staff are very friendly too. As for the skiing. Wow do they have some great terrain and what seems like constant snow. I think my friend summed it best by mentioning that the resort has very few places you can't ski. Trees, in between runs, you name it and it's ski-able. Be sure to make your trip at least a few days to try and get a sunny day because this place is unbelievable in the sun.

Big White is a place of magic. I have been coming here since I was a little kid, and it was the first vacation I saved up for on my own. Now, my wife and I try to come here every other year; and each time we come, we love every minute of it. Thanks, Big White, stay awesome!
I hate to write a mainly negative review... but I ...
I hate to write a mainly negative review... but I think folks need to be aware of some of the not-so-awesome aspects of this highly-regarded resort. This was our first visit to Big White. There is no conceivable reason such a high-priced resort, especially over the holidays, can't have parking attendants arranging vehicles to prevent the absolute mayhem and lack of space that was our first introduction. I also want to mention that it's incredibly greedy and insulting for ANY ski resort to rip off their customers by charging a "peak season surplus" simply because that's when most out-of-towners can visit your hill. Because of this, we intended to go to Silver Star - who don't charge a surplus - but elected to try Big White based on two great reviews we heard. The gondola line was long, but understandable at Christmas, and we knew we'd be at the top soon... except that the gondola only brings you to a large, sprawling village where one cannot even see any of the actual lifts. You have to check your map to find them. Now, if giant villages are your thing, you will enjoy this aspect. However, if you're there primarily to ski, you won't! After skate down "main street" for several hundred meters, and under a couple of bridges, we eventually reached the main summit lifts. The lines were long, but fast moving, and the lifts nice and speedy. However, the auto-scanners for the lift tickets don't seem too great, as some of the gates would randomly malfunction and a person couldn't get through right away without help from the very few and super busy attendants... my daughter was one of those stuck, lol! The day was very windy, so when we reached the top, we had decided to go to the Powder Glades area and the Powder Chair, for some nice sheltered tree runs, we hoped. Well... at a massive resort charging $100 for a lift ticket ($110 during "peak season"), why there is a rickety old, unsheltered, single-speed, triple seat lift with no padding, right in what is clearly the windiest part of the hill (it was clear, the higher-up trees were stunted with one-side windswept growth), that has to then be slowed down even more because of the wind, thus keeping everyone on it colder for longer, is beyond me. They have a state-of-the-art gondola, multiple state-of-the-art high-speed quad and six-seated lifts, so how the heck does this slip through the cracks?? There were tonnes of people there, too, it's not an unpopular section. We'd have preferred a T-bar that at least one is more out of the wind and can just leave whenever they want to. Anyways, this is the first crappy time we've ever had at any ski resort, I'm sorry to say. Overpriced, overcrowded, parking lot mess, bizarre lift layout, major inconsistency between lift quality and placement, and then we had the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant at the Bull Wheel to top it off (separate review.) The plan was to relax for a nice meal and drink, and then try the backside for the rest of the day, as the wind was finally starting to die down a bit. After the restaurant, however, we didn't have the heart to bother skiing at this resort anymore. For the first time in my entire life, I found myself at the ticket desk requesting at least a partial refund. Now here, I give full props. The young Australian man behind the counter was nothing but kind, courteous, understanding, and sympathetic. I truly wish I'd caught his name so I could give him full credit for excellent customer service. He would have issued a refund, but he asked if I'd be open to receiving a "snow cheque" instead, which is a full credit for any services offered by the resort - skiing, tubing, etc - for the remainder of the season. Because we do want to give this resort a 2nd chance, we gratefully accepted, and thanked him profusely. Next time, we will try ONLY the backside, which can be accessed from its own parking lot and lodge. It seems much quieter back there, almost like its own little ski resort unto itself, and I have a feeling this will suit us better... Plus we won't have to worry about the insane parking. ;)

Spent Winter 2015/2016 here and revisited in Summer of 2016 to hike. Will be heading up for more time in Fall and for the Winter again 2016/2017.
Lots of runs for all skill levels (maybe not a lot of runs for expert), plenty of treed areas off piste, steeps, drops and heaps of fun.
Busy on holidays and most weekends, but sometimes it's almost like your own resort during the weekdays.
I had never been to the snow at all before here so it will always hold a place in my heart, but have since also visited a few other mountains and Big White truly is a cracker.

I really want to emphasize that this place is a mountain that just shoots up with no other mountain chains attached. It's great for beginning and learning to do bigger tricks as well. It doesn't have the vert of revy but gem lake has comperable runs that wrap around and end up being great leg burners. The village has a little bit of everything. It doesn't have fast food or big chain stores but that makes it more healthy and the business up there has good enough competition. As for nite life it is possible to go from your condo to the random bars and restaurants without use of a car. There is also a bus that brings the further areas in. All around big white is a winter wonderland. Every activity that can be performed in the winter is or will be available there. Good choice for families too, there is a well trained daycare and ski and board school.
