Fast check-in, well staffed, clean rooms, comfy beds and just across the road from the RDS. Downstairs, there's a spacious restaurant and bar with live music every weekend.

A small issue with the shower was quickly resolved and they comp'd our parking to make up for the inconvenience. Staff are very friendly and attentive, without ever seeming scripted, and seem genuinely happy in their roles.

We'll be back!

I stayed here for 3 nights for a conference and then a night with my partner for a city break.

The room was clean but kind of dingy.
The hotel provides towels, a hairdryer, iron and basic soap/shampoo.

The food at breakfast was really not good, I feel like the ingredients the hotel is using in the fried breakfast were really low quality, I accidentally served myself what could only be described as a 'cube' of scrambled eggs, the gelatinous quality of which made me incredibly queasy, and I'm not sure the sausages contained any actual meat product.

The room I was given was right next to the cleaner's cupboard so I was woken by loud banging every morning as equipment was removed, not the relaxing weekend I was hoping for after my conference.

Oh, and if you're staying here, bring an extension cord, and maybe a multiplug, because there was a total of two outlets and they're both the opposite side of the room from the bed.

All in all I am horrified at the price that you're asking for this very budget feeling experience.

I've lived in Dublin for a number of years and travel there quite frequently, although not as often as I'd like. The Clayton is, to me, the best in the Fair City by any account: convenience, commodiousness, service, food and outstading overall value.

Check in was not to be before 3pm so we got there for 3.30pm...room wasn't ready so we had to wait till 4pm..a little annoying as ireland v Scotland rugby match started at 4.45 and we intended to walk to game 1.6 kilometers away..cutting it fine but got there with 5 mins to spare..
Bedroom was clean and pretty comfortable, spacious with 40inch tv. Safe in the room with tea coffee bottled water and nibbles...room service offered with 7 euro plate charge..
We also went to the buffet in the evening 25 euro each.small selection of hot food with drinks charged separately so I would recommend ordering from the bar menu which is pricey enough..17 euro for burger and fries..staff are friendly..
No no alcoholic wines available or bulmers zero alcohol..there was 4 non alcoholic beers to choose from..
Check if your parking is free with your room at check in as if not its 12 euro a night and do validate your ticket at reception when your checking out as you'll pay twice as much at the machine in the car park as they charge hourly rates..

Princely hotel in the most renowned area of the city. To reach the historic center, I recommend the taxi that is expensive but better than the long walk. Beautiful rooms and refreshment points. Competent staff but do not speak Italian.

Paid a lot of money for 2 rooms for 1 night, and was disappointed to hear that parking was not included. Service in the bar area was dreadful. Had to ask 3 times for someone to come take our order which eventually happened after about 20 minutes. Food choice was poor and was told at least a 40 minutes wait for a burger. Was in a bit of a rush, so asked what was quick. Ordered salads, and yet was still waiting over 30 minutes for it to arrive. Beer and minerals all seemed flat as well. Not impressed

The hotel looked very pretty especially from the outside. Our room was pretty but bathroom looked like it could use a renovation. The personal did not seem happy working there and did not deliver 4 star service. While at breakfast, I informed our waitor that the pancake machine is missing a dough, he said he would look at it but never came back. I heard him later answering to a different guest who was waiting in front of the machine that they have run out of dough. Fair enough to run out of stuff but I would like to know so I don t have to wait for something that is never coming. The receptionist while checking us in got by mistake bumbed from back by another female colleague who was passing by, the colleague apologized but the receptionist just gave a really evil look back to her in front of us. Personal seemed stressed and overwhealmed with work, lack of communication during check in. On positive note the cleaners were extremely nice, always greeting when we walked past.

5 stars for the room and hotel but breakfast being lukewarm buffet being a bit of a let down. I'd expect breakfast to be cooked freshly and not be sat around before being eaten. Even premier Inn manage to cook breakfast freshly.

Lovely place to stay. Great location for city center. Room 371 had no air conditioning so had to ask for a fan as it's noisy if windows are open as it looks out to the court yard of the entrance to a car park. Room was simple, expected bit more from 4star.

This hotel has some of the most attentive staff I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. They made our stay comfortable. This is an old and historic building and, as with a lot of older structures it has its quirks that can sometimes cause the amenities to be lacking. Things like room size and A/C. The food here did not live up to gormet standards but it was passable. There are other restaurants within walking distance. If you like to walk this is in the exclusive 4th district and a great place to stretch your legs. You will enjoy a stay here.

I found the hotel decor very dated and the restaurant food left a bit to be desired, particularly the buffet breakfast. But the rooms are comfortable if very old fashioned. And the hotel was quiet and peaceful with no disturbances by housekeeping etc. Service in the bar was very good as we waited out Storm Ophelia.

Website says there is a gym, has a partner gym 15 minutes walk away with a 10 euro discount, this IS NOT the same as having a gym. Please remove this from your website, booked for the gym, so disappointed.

Possibly the nicest stay I had so far in Dublin. Just a beautiful historical building. Such wonderful helpful friendly staff. My room rate was fantastic.

Such a great nights sleep. The hotel is one of my favourites in Dublin. Looking forward to staying again next week.

Didn't get a chance to try the restaurant as it stop serving food at 10pm which is understandable.

Just love this hotel

When we arrived the lady that checked us in had very poor customer service and didn't interact with us as you would expect a hotel receptionist to. Our room was a good size but very dark and dated. There was a faint aroma of urine coming from the bathroom but we managed to mask it with body spray. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, much like sleeping on a sheet of wood which resulted in no sleep and hearing people talking and coming back to their rooms all through the night. We had to be up early to catch our ferry and went to check out around 6:30am. We then went down to our car in the underground car park and used the paystation to pay for our overnight use of the car park and it says on the machine 'hotel guests 12.00 overnight stay' but had come up on the machine for us to pay 34.50. We had to then go back up to the reception which was not a short way to talk to the receptionist and turned out that he should have validated our parking card when we checked out. Luckily he did wave the 12.00 charge for us which was nice but our overall experience of this hotel was not enjoyable at all and as it was our last night of the holiday it really put a downer on our road trip around Ireland where we had got engaged.

Beautiful common areas and on the outside. Rooms, however, a very small, and shower is impossible to take. Shoulders touch the walls, you have to stay still and straight.
Service very below average, they messed up everytime we needed something. And misplaced our friends' luggage.

My first experience with this hotel was when I accidentally booked the wrong wrong dates. When I realized my mistake, I booked the correct dates but then mistakenly cancelled the correct dates. Of course we missed the booking and were charged for the stay even though we were not there. Totally my error but when I contacted the hotel, they would not provide a credit. Expensive mistake to the tune of over $900. Very sad especially since we were traveling with friends and because I had identified the hotel, they had five rooms booked for our stay. Once at the hotel, we discovered that there was a significant amount of construction going on. After listening to jack hammering for four hours, we requested to move to a new room. The hotel did accommodate this request. The hotel room itself was nice and the food in the restaurant was good although pricey. On Monday morning, we were awakened again by construction noises. Someone must have complained, however, because the noise stopped about fifteen minutes later. I believe the hotel will be lovely once construction is complete but it was disappointing that we were not aware ahead of time of the construction and the hotel should do a better job of placing guests away from the construction noises. I was also extremely upset that they would not provide a credit for our missed stay since we did end up staying at the hotel. Overall a disappointing experience.

Room was clean and a good size I would have however expected a King Size bed not a standard double
Brasserie was poorly staffed and our dinner on the Saturday evening had to be refunded as it was a disaster
Vending machines over priced and was told I could not have a jug of iced water to the room

During the Covid pandemic we felt very safe staying in the Clayton as they had visitors safety as their no 1 concern. The staff were fantastic and looked after every need with constant contact with all guests. The location is perfect in my favourite part of Dublin. Finally you must order the breakfast as they were excellent value fo money and we had plenty of time to enjoy

We found the experience to be extremely poor, spoiled by the noise throughout the night of people coming in late from parties. The hotel could have managed this better we felt. I am sure that we were not the only ones that were kept awake all night. For the price of 175 euros x 2 for 2 rooms for just 1 night it was extremely disappointing and we will not be back. This was a special occasion, my 50th birthday celebration, unfortunately spoiled by the lack of a nights sleep. The rooms were dated and the beds of extremely low standard.

I was disappointed with my recent stay.

I was disappointed with my recent stay.
The lobby was cluttered and no real sense of a queue.
Check in at reception was fine and the girl was nice.
The room was okay in cleanness terms. We had three booked in the room and 1 towel and 1 extra in the room?
We were woken by loud people who had visited the horse show at 4.07am (myself and my two kids, it went on for an hour). We eventually got back to bed at5.15am.
Walls are like paper.
What disappointed us the most was the restaurant for dinner and breakfast.
We were waiting on both occasions, big delays in getting a seat and when we did service was poor and slow (we left to go to a pub across the road).
Breakfast selection was poor and cluttered.
