Great spot to meet up with rugby crowd before Leinster v Ulster game. Bar staff were excellent as were reception who organised a taxi very quickly considering how early in the morning it was. Have stayed there before and have always had a fantastic time.

Even though the hotel was very busy due to a rugby international at the Aviva that evening and a conference going in the hotel, the staff were still friendly, apologetic and helpful. Food at the bar came very quickly, even quicker than the drinks we had ordered!. Room was clean and spacious. At breakfast the restaurant was busy and there was a short queue for a table at 9am. It looked as if they could have done with another couple of staff to help clear the tables to speed up the turnaround of tables but the breakfast was also very good and worth the wait. Hope to stay here again in the future.

Where to start? Stained duvet. Pillows like concrete. No power sockets near beds. Slippery bath with clingy shower curtain. Water red hot then icy cold. In bar for dinner - ignored by staff for 20 minutes. Eventually ordered dinner, but it didn t arrive for another 40 minutes. (Two burgers, shouldn t take long, and when they arrived were lukewarm). Still hadn t received drink order, so had to remind several times. The only thing that arrived promptly was the bill. Continental breakfast fabulous, but cooked breakfast was again lukewarm. Were not offered tea/coffee so had to search out waitstaff. Overall extremely disappointing. Have stayed in Clayton hotels for years, but will avoid in future.

This is a great, traditional and affordable hotel in a nice neighborhood. The hotel includes a lively bar and features a great breakfast buffet. The downside is that the hotel does not have air conditioning in the rooms, so it is not advised during the warmer days of summer

We stopped here for valentines day and definitely don't regret it!

The hotel is beautiful and has good access to Dublin city centre via the train that is just at the bottom of the road or via the buses,

Worst experience I have had in a hotel ever in any country...do your self a favor and stay away from this chaotic, run down mess of a hotel that does not supply the basic necessities such as valets, luggage racks and washclothes

I have been coming to the Clayton for many years. First, often coming with family as a young teen when it was owned by Bewleys and now as an adult under the Clayton name.

The staff are very keen and attentative. Catering towards needs, questions and whatever request you may have diligently.

The rooms are neat, always tidy and spacious. However, lack sockets by the bed side. This is to be expected from such an old building (do look into it's history) but nonetheless an annoyance for our modern lifestyle.

Food from the restaurant and bar is always filling and the staff very helpful.

Perhaps I am biased towards the Clayton but I cannot fault it for families, working professionals or weekend trippers to Dublin if you've got the finances.

Mould in the bathroom, windows not cleaned, for a four star house, but a fantastic location in the quite diplomatic district, between the British embassy and the Intercontinental, direct buses and a train to the center of Dublin, downtown, in some minutes. And a short walk to a beach. Friendly staff, very interesting old building see Wikipedia.

We are a Spanish family that has spent a weekend in this hotel. We loved the building, for its uniqueness, the family rooms with two comfortable double beds, and a breakfast buffet not very varied (lack of olive oil) but of high quality. And the Tom's Bar is fantastic for a dinner or a good pint of beer, with a very friendly staff (I emphasize a Spanish, Carlos).

Landed at Dublin 20 minutes early, jumped on a 757 bus using my Leap Card transferred to a number 4 at Merrion Square to the nearest bus stop, British Embassy.
Arriving at the gate of the red brick Victorian school that is now the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge.
This Victorian place of learning has 335 rooms, each more than an adequate size.
Situated just south of the RDS. An easy 15-20 minute bus journey from the city centre.
My intention was just to dump bags but the reception staff made it possible for me to check-in. Excellent!

The hotel is set in picturesque grounds and looks well. The staff are helpful and the food is above average. They also offer gluten free options, which puts them a step above many competitors. I had booked an Executive Room and found it small, so I'm glad I didn't book a regular though I may be expecting too much for a centrally-located hotel. The additional 24 for a weekend's parking was an unpleasant surprise but I probably didn't pay close enough attention when booking and this car park is safe and well-lit.

I was staying for a function but do not think I would be keen to stay for a relaxing break. I can't quite put my finger on why; maybe because the decor is very dimly lit but I would point out that the hotel is very clean and presentable.

A nice reasonably priced hotel close to the city centre and has it's own underground car park. Its right next door to the RDS and theres a bus stop right outside. Rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfast was lively too.

I understand it was a busy weekend. But found it practically impossible to eat or drink in the hotel. Queues for restaurant we're over an hour long & queues for bar we're 30 mins before being served. I felt it ridiculous to pay 296 euro for a room only stay with this kind of service. Also I emailed the hotel & have notf yet gotten a reply.

Fantastic 4 star hotel in a wonderful part of Dublin. Great rooms. Comfy beds. Great service. Their Grandstand Restaurant is first class....wonderful food. Loved my stay there. OK so there are no facecloths(flannels) in the bathroom, but that's OK.

This was our 2nd time staying in this fabulous hotel. The hotel has been refurbished since our previous visit and we were all agreed that the en-suite bathrooms were much improved. The bar and restaurant areas have also had an upgrade and I'm happy to report that the service and quality of food served are still as excellent as ever. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and all requests were dealt with extremely efficiently.

I was impressed by how it looks from outside but not how it does from inside. Reception, bar and restaurant areas are newly refurbished and rather pleasant. The room was shabby and so were the elevators. The worst thing was the service and breakfast. Long queue to get seated and many runs after the waiters to get coffee as they won't come to your table to offer tea or coffee. It takes them hours to clean and clear the tables. When I came to have breakfast there was almost no food. Mushrooms were flooded in some liquid and had clogs of hair. I would not recommend this hotel.

Really enjoyed our one night stay here last night. Spent an hour or two availing of the residents bar privileges. Room was well layed out and cosy/comfortable. The only thing that was wrong was the fact that we were hit with a 12 bill for the carpark that we thought was included.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but our check in was delayed by a malfunction of the key card system. The key card issue continued after we received them. The rooms are nice but I've slept in more comfortable beds. I wasn't expecting to be charged 12 for parking. If I'd spotted it in the small print I would've cancelled the booking and stayed at the Herbert Park Hotel instead for pretty much the same price.

Rooms are large and comfortable. Good water pressure in the shower. Very clean, good linens. The power outlet was all the way across the room at the desk. Not the first time I've seen that in Europe but when you need to plug in your phone to charge and it is your alarm clock for the morning, it sucks that it's not by the bed. Front desk staff were not answering the phone at all. Rang about 15-20 times and nothing. Our dinner was included in our stay for the tour group and this was the only restaurant that did not include dessert with the meal out of 5 other hotels. A bowl of icecream would have killed them? They also did not make it clear that the drink was not included when they took drink orders. Not that big if a deal but it's a pain to deal with the bill when 14 of us are all trying to leave. The food choices were either cod or chicken. Chicken was so dry and smothering it in plain, bitter tomato sauce was disgusting and did not help the dryness at all. I did not enjoy the food. The hotel itself is very pretty, grounds are gorgeous, but food and service is lacking.

Great staff and over all great hotel. We did have an issue when we arrived later in the afternoon that the front desk said our room was ready. But when we got upstairs to the room it had not been cleaned and was next on the list to be cleaned. So the staff quickly cleaned it and we had no troubles since. Breakfast was yummy and filling.
