You can easily get to terminals by various means, drive, taxi, tube, shuttle bus, it usually takes 30-60 mins from downtown. T3 is quite new and clean, you can have many food choices here. If you take international flight, you can also enjoy duty-free shopping here, possibly the best price you can get.

As an experienced travel, this airport is easily the worst I've ever dealt with. I almost missed my connecting flight because the passport check and security lines are not run efficiently whatsoever. You would think 1 hour 40 minutes would be plenty of time, but it's not whatsoever. Upon clearing security, there are men on golf carts that offer rides, which seems great...But they drive a few feet and ask you for $20USD to take you to your gate. They know you're about to miss your flight and prey of how desperate you might be. I will be avoiding this airport at ALL costs!
It s cool that there s a few ponds in the airport ! Nice looking but it was very cold inside of the airport! There are a lot of shops so you can get all kinds of Chinese stuffs there if you don t wanna get out of the airport! I was there for the layover so couldn t see outside yet airport itself it s too big so I was satisfied with it. What I learned from there is that, people cut in the line so you ll have to be aggressive as I had to go through... other than that, just chill out if you happen to go there!
I was going from Houston to ShenZhen and back, transfered in PEK twice. First time was 4 AM in the morning so it was pretty empty, and HUGE. Everything was quick and easy. But second time it was 8 in the morning, people were literally, EVERYWHERE. No matter where you go, it's going to be a little or VERY crowded. Flying in busy hour usually resulted in delay since SO MANY people try to fly! It happens to any big Chinese cities! So the second time I tookoff 3 hours after the original schedule! Not the greatest idea to transfer in China, especially during busy hours. By the way, Air quality wasn't that great outside, but inside it is a lot better.
The duty-free shops inside the cosmetics and cigarettes are really cheap, the one star of the buckle is for the restaurants inside, and the choice is less.
This is the first time me being out of the states. I fell in love with this place! Airport, as well as the people, very very nice, and easy to talk to for directions. I want to go back to visit The Great Wall.............
Huge international airport, arrived at night, it is very little enlightened, many spaces of expectations are proposed, very few open shops. The writing of information boards too small, difficult to read, little information in English. Security personnel, customs, and check-in, screening officers are very slow, more than 1:30 waiting for a simple check of hand luggage during a transfer. In March has my second night pass also, taking care of people in transfer. Net improvement.
The airport is huge, but in general everything is quite clear - there are a lot of signs and most of the staff speaks English. Sometimes you have to travel a lot between the terminals and inside the terminals, so I do not recommend coming close to the plane. Very convenient aeroexpress. But he only leaves the city until 10.30 p.m., he was late. He had to go by taxi. With taxi drivers need to bargain. The red price is 120 yuan, at night no higher than 150. Taxis from the airport also try to rip off 3 prices - the story is the same, bargain to a minimum. Without English, it will be difficult to communicate. Download the Chinese translator online in advance, usually translates clearly. WiFi is free, but with local restrictions on social networks. He described everything that I remembered - good luck to everyone.
Arrived from Hong Kong to terminal 3, it was the night of February 1, 2017. The airport is extinct ... Help desks do not work. Where to find the S7 business hall or their partners is not clear, almost all the shops are locked, as are the cafes. From 8 times through the Internet connection I got through to s7 and they informed me that the business hall was near the e21 exit. China Pacific. Arriving there I came across a locked door. Noticing the inside, the staff began to knock. Let it in. We sorted it out for a long time and it turned out that the business hall did not work from 24-5 in the morning. But they let me in, I was able to more or less comfortably spend time. The airport has a low temperature, it is very cold ... Compared to the airport in Hong Kong or Bangkok, it left a vile impression.
The Beijing capital airport is one of my favorite airports. The airport is big and modern, with huge, open spaces and lots of shops. The temperature may be a bit warm sometimes though. The employees are extremely thorough and helpful, and can speak both good English and good Chinese. The restrooms are also amazingly clean, especially when compared to American public restrooms. The airport has some fascinating architectural designs, which may catch your eye. The security lines are nothing like the TSA lines in American airports as they are much faster and less crowded. Overall, BCIA is a big, spacious and modern airport.
A sleek and elegant terminal with high ceilings giving it huge dimension of space. There is a cheap lounge that will allow only shower access; alternatively, you might be able to gain access with a OneWorld member flight. Cathay Pacific lounge offers great dumplings and set-service bar. The flight boarding is typically Chinese, lacking structure or prioritised boarding.
I had the worst flying experience of my life at this airport. We missed our flight because the Beijing security lines were too long (took 1.5hrs to get through). That wasn t even the worst part. My partner and I spent the next 5 hours *just trying to find* the location to rebook another flight. Airport help was nil. NO ONE helped us, even though we asked for help SO MANY TIMES! We went to the help desk and she just kept sending us to different places. When we would ask the other staff (using google translate when needed), they would jostle us from person to person, as if we were on the phone with really bad customer support that was transferring our call multiple times. It was such a nightmare that I broke out crying, which I NEVER do.
When we finally found the ticket counter, we had to wait another 2 hours to get another ticket. Then we ended up staying in a creepy hotel overnight that was provided by the airport because all of the flights were unavailable.
Overall, my partner and I changed our itinerary so that we would not have another layover in Beijing. Please don t ever get a layover here - flights are almost always delayed, the management hierarchy is such that no one is motivated to actually do their job, and it is not a foreigner friendly airport....
Wonderful Airport. I arrived very close to my connection time and was escorted from my arrival gate to my connection departure gate by a very nice airport employee.she didn t speak any English but we did fine with basic commands. She put me through diplomatic passport control because there was a long line on the non Chinese passport line. Shortly afterwards there was a gate change for the connecting flight which I didn t pick up on. A very nice lady traveling on this flight picked noted my lack of attention and kindly told me to get a move on to the updated gate as the flight was boarding Overall a very nice experience considering why one usually expects with airports and connections. 5 STARS
The airport was really big and well appointed. There are lots food joints at different budget levels. Some instructions can be confusing for domestic to international transit passengers.
Horrible airport. Probably one of the worst I've been to. To exchange money is an ungodly high commission. I was on a 6 hour layover and they have the seats set up so that you can't lay down. There was barely any food selection and what there was, was 3 times the regular price of a coffee and sandwich.
Worst airport ever. No air conditioning at night and no wifi unless you have WeChat or text ability. Food is so terrible and limited options. Only high end empty stores. Most miserable place to have a layover.
Airfares within China and Asia are good, they are for many pockets. It's worth remembering that few people (%) speak English, so be careful because I got a fright when I got there and the taxi driver didn't speak English.
The Air China First Class Lounge is very good. It offers a good variety of food and beverages. The pink cookie shown in the pictures is reeeeally good and so is the coffee.
A very large airport, a bit confusing at the beginning but with many places to rest. It has many out-of-the-ordinary amenities such as showers, pagodas, kareoke kiosks, etc.
Majority of the staffs here are mean and intimidating. They yell and get angry at people/foreigners for not knowing how to scan our passport which they should give us some guidance if we're not familiar with it. Also, when going through security check this is the worst I've been to, you have to take every little thing such as camera, battery charger, chargers out of ur bag which is ridiculous because we have to recheck the items another 4-5 times. We've been to Thailand, Lax, and Korea airport during the same period of time and it wasn't even that complicated. The staffs are much nicer and more helpful. The staffs in Beijing airport are not as helpful and they are just straight up RUDE. The last time I transferred in this airport, a staff was rude I started giving him the look like he shouldn't be acting the way he is to us. OVERALL, they just need some d@m discipline!
Horrible, I went through Singapore airport, Bangkok, Phuket, Orly, Nanning, Zurich, Geneva and Ajaccio and the worst of the worst is Beijing. No kindness, airport staff do not listen, misdirect people and they speak very, very badly. Very bad experience not to redo.
Indeed colossal terminal in the world. Located in Capital city of China, this new terminal 3 is amazingly huge. The interior is modern and equipped with advanced technology. But the crowd is less, maybe it is still new. For older terminals, they serve domestic market and are very crowded.
Nightmarish airport to avoid at all costs if possible! When you arrive early in the morning or late at night, everything is closed! The only dining options are Starbucks and Costa Coffee. Not to mention the ultra-high security checks when you are only in transit: passport control, fingerprint, photo and still a second check with an immigration officer who does not even bother to look at you ..
One star for decent bathrooms. Otherwise, rude, disorganized, confusing, freezing, poor food, no useful shops. Did I say Rude! Twice now, this airport is on my worst experience list -- and boy have I been to a lot of airports.
But what problems do they have ?? Almost all the staff are incredibly lazy and rude. They do not try to give assistance even though they are there for that. It's a dirty and desolate place ... 9 hours of really long waiting if you go to such a place. China is certainly a great country and is full of beautiful people, but none of them works in the airport of the capital ... Or rather I don't want to judge them as people, but as professionals and they are very bad !!!!!!!
The airport ground handling services really need to straighten up their procedure. Luggage always gets lost and delayed. My parents' luggage got lost second time in less than 6 months. Last time the airline refused to take the responsibility because of the airport handling service. I request the airport management to locate the reason for frequency of such mishandling, whether it's overly stringent security issues or just under-trained staff and pure negligence. For long delays the airport doesn't have loungy chairs and resting area unlike major aiports. I wouldn't recommend flying through Beijing if anyone has connecting flight. Luggage gets lost, no area to rest despite its giant size. Very inefficent use of space. I see people waiting to check-in outside of the gates and sleeping on the floor and on very uncomfortable, over-crowded chairs. In general the airport service and design are not managed for user friendly hospitality industry. Will avoid this airport at all cost now!
Amazing architecture. The airport is huge which makes movement from one terminal to the next an ordeal. However, as long as you allow yourself enough time prior to your departure, you'll be fine. Security is also very strict.
Horrible airport. Just after the passport check there will be another passport check for you to get another stamp. It is senseless because 1 min ago you just had passed border control. It only causes longer lines, as it doesn't add any additional security protocol. Oh, after you have you passport checked again and boring pass stamp, the security at the x-ray will again ask for your docs. At T3 gate 51 is between gates 7 and 6 in an area which has absolutely no restaurant so if you want to eat something you will have to return close to the controls.
A modern and 21st century airport with facilities. However the border control staff, customs and airport assistants were unfriend, pushy and unprofessional. WiFi is also restricted and inconvenient for foreigners.
Just checking my 1 luggage at United Airlines took over 1 hour to stand in line, the line was too long and not enough people working at the counter. Then I had to use the bathroom, waiting in line for more than 15 minutes, it's like that every time I need to use the bathroom (used 2 times), so if you are at this airport, don't wait until the last minute, because you will regret it.
The last airport there is! Unfriendliness, harassment, totally overpriced, unheated, understaffed, all the lighters and powerbank taken away, never again, holiday totally messed up
Why should passengers in transit undergo THREE document checks, body scan and everything out carry-on check when only changing planes for international flights? More than 150 people in line for doc and initially one official. People freaking out. Fortunately Thai Air held my connecting flight 45 minutes.
The reviews about 1 star are lies. There is a criminal racket operating in the airport, it is the security staff who like to confiscate power banks. Make sure you take a paper receipt to prove the kilowatts. Or they will take them because the are "a threat to national security"
They don't tell you that when they take the spoils they go to the downtown markets and sell them and make money from them. Do not give them the chance to to it.
They do this by dividing your stuff, between 3 people who search through everything, after you have some off the plane and already been searched by the departure airport security.
All the staff, have zero common sense and pretend not to speak English if you need help. Everything is to much trouble for them and they act exactly like a communist 3rd world country does. Manners are non existent. Avoid the airport at all costs if you want to have a stress free flight and not lose anything.
It was used from Beijing Air via Beijing Airport because of the typhoon. Maybe it's not suitable for transit because it gets messy. If you can't speak English, it will be very difficult.
It was ok. For international transfer migration was fast but security check was slow. You can find every sign in English and Chinese. Toilets were clean.
I had a layover here once for 14 hours. Didnt have a visa, therefore couldnt leave the airport. I literally could and did spend a day here. Great place, lots to do and see and eat!
Great airport! Wow! So large! To be honest, before I came here I got surgery done on my toes to fix ingrown toenails. (Story for another time). I had severe pain in my feet, obviously, and was taking lots of Tylenol to keep from passing out from the pain. I flew from Seattle and arrived in Beijing early in the morning and had a 25 hour layover, (which technically was longer than my visa allowed), but the nice guy at immigration said, I ll let you in, but you d better be on that flight . I got a ride to a hotel from a random stranger, (not a taxi driver), in an unmarked car, (not a taxi), that he had borrowed from another random stranger. The hotel was very expensive, (just for foreigners), and it didn t have a complimentary breakfast or anything else to eat in the lobby, so I hit the streets in search of sustenance. I walked about a mile before I found a shop that sold some food. They didn t take card so I had to walk another half mile to an ATM where I pulled out about $20USD and walked back to buy the goods. I bought 2 liters of water, ramen, and a sausage. I walked back to my hotel, (remember I m doing all this with my severely mutilated feet), and I made myself breakfast. I thought to myself, this sausage could have parasites I don t want to eat raw , so I dropped it in the complimentary hot water pot with about a liter of water and brought it to a boil a few times. I then added my ramen and ate my meal. It had been about 8 hours since I had last taken Tylenol so I took another round. I was kinda bored cause they block pretty much all the internet in China so I decided to take a nap. That s when things went south. I woke up some time later with an acute and severe pain in my abdomen. I had never felt that pain before. My first thought was appendicitis, but I remembered that one of the side effects of taking too much Tylenol was rapid liver failure. I had taken just above the minimum amount necessary to cause this. Let me tell you, liver failure sucks. Naturally, I was exceedingly nervous and tried texting my loved ones to tell them I was going to die in China and I loved them. I was thinking to myself, it s probably just better to die here in a reasonably comfortable bed than try and go through the ordeal of a dying in a Chinese ER. So I just laid there and waited to pass away. One thing about liver failure is that the pain usually never lessens, it only increases. So I took another nap in hopes that the pain would be less when I awoke. Luckily I got some sleep. I was still in a lot of pain when I woke from my nap, but less than I had been. That was a huge relief. Maybe this wasn t the end. It was about time to head to the airport so I finished my water, packed my things and headed to the lobby. I was incredibly uncomfortable. I bought what I thought was a normal water, but it ended up being clear sugar water. Nice, China. Good one. I arrived at the airport and headed inside. Terminal 3 is huge. Absolutely massive. I checked in and finally made it to the plane. Last leg to my final destination! The pain in my abdomen was still present and I didn t take another Tylenol out of fear, even though my feet were throbbing. That last flight was truly a struggle, but against all odds, I made it.
This was not my first experience in this airport, but definitely the most memorable! Oh Wow.
I expected the best level of English from the staff of the capital airport. I could not solve a single issue at the information desk. For those who are in China for the first time and arrive in Beijing - guys, get to know all your routes in advance and as detailed as possible, no one will tell you where to go and which bus to take, there is no Wi-Fi at the airport.
I tried using it for a transfer to MUC. There was a Transit counter in the far left corner, and the procedure was completed easily. However, the return flight was very crowded. Similarly, the area around the panda playground equipment that was visible on the 1st floor (left side of the exit gate) was crowded with people taking a nap. Also, Net connection in front of the gate of E10 etc.-Authentication # Issuing machine was not running in debug, but I was able to connect somehow by inserting an appropriate 4 digit number (phone #, airline seat # is useless was).
Beijing Capital International Airport is good, but match in few matters of other Chinese international airports even. Toilet area not clean & Hygienic in T3 international side gate 23.
Complicated layout to understand, especially when you ask for help and can t understand the help people are trying to provide. Just don't go outside the airport, the pollution is like walking into a Vape shop
Beijing Capital International Airport is the worst airport and chaos I've ever use. Arrival is good but departure is a terrible for me. Although this is one of the most biggest airport in the world.
It's no announcement when the airline changed departure gates. But only runs on the monitor board 30 minutes before boarding time. And when all passengers ready on board, the captain announced that the airport was not allowed to fly up. Then officers just let we knew that they have to arrange for a new queue to fly up. Unfortunately, we were in 100 so all passengers in that flight had to wait for 4 hours on the plane.
Be wary! If you buy stuff in duty free and you transit here, they'll make you throw away liquids bought from duty free. Even expensive alcohol. Also, if you're looking for 24 visa exemption exits, depends highly on your immigration officer. Some might be on power trips and say that you can't leave for no reason at all. We luckily persisted and was let out, but some others weren't lucky
Very few dining option. Ended up paying for wifi, which was still subpar at best. Went through 3 different security checks even after flying from Taipei, including one directly before getting on the plane. Had my power bank confiscated despite showing the precise model on the brand's website. Will do everything to avoid a layover here again.
