Most Organized Airport that I have ever seen in my life

The airport itself is beautiful, but anyway, it is very large and difficult to move after arrival. I used it for an international connection, but it took about 40 minutes to get through despite the early morning hours due to the long line of security checks. We recommend that you have plenty of time to transfer.

Nice big and clear. Unfortunately from 23 o'clock many shops and restaurants are already closed.

I can't understand why it has 3 stars. Its enough to get just one. We are not Canadian but my husband has a permanent resident and I'm on progressing family visa so there's no problem to come and go out Canada. but the ticketing staff acts like a immigration agent and very rude. Even though I told I'm pregnant he gave us perfectly window seat and absolute different position for two flights(of course, we lined as soon as it started to ticket). Most of staff lost their smile and the airport is too big and has poor sign and terriblely hard seat everywhere. We really don't want to go there again!

Rude staff. Most of them do not speak English, and when they dont, they simply turn their head away from you to show they are not interested in helping you. No decent food in the restaurants, show you one thing and bring different, asking you to pay straight away as if you are about to run away without paying. Not enough sitting places to wait for your flight.

I was actually very surprised how not busy this airport is. Ive flown into it twice in the last month and neither time did i feel over crowded like i do in Orlando International, JFK, or Atlanta. Good selection of shops. The Chinese version of the TSA seemed to be more careful and caring than the TSA in the United States. I felt very respected while i was here, and they made my time in China a pleasant one. Signs around the airport are in chinese and english which is nice. Food options could be a little more expansive, especially if you have a long layover. The airport does have an hourly hotel for those wanting to rest during long layovers. That is very convenient. I look forward to my next visit to the Beijing Airport.

I revisited in transit about 20 years, I heard about rumors but it was quite beautiful.

It seems as if the goal of this airport is to be as inefficient as possible. Lines are long and everyone is extremely slow. Sign might tell you to go straight for international transfer and then have another sign that contradicts it somewhere else.

I must say, compared to the previous 10 years, the airport service has improved a lot. Very modern airport, Beijing famous Cypriot traffic before starting to fly earlier best! If you can add some vegetarians can eat restaurant, will Some more international.

Ground grew at this airport is abysmal. During WINTER, we waited well over two hours for the de-icing truck to come. Worst airport experience I've ever had

Not impressed. Flew in and out of terminal 2. The place is old, hot, and a bit chaotic. They keep the temperature just hot enough so you sweat and never feel comfortable. My first flight to GuangZhou was delayed two hours becuase if traffic control issues. It also has very few food selections. Long customs lines.

I ve been at this airport quite a few times, traveling back and forth while I was studying in China. It a gigantic airport, one could easily get lost in it.

Wish i could give less than 1/5 stars as i saw the cleaning ladys putting the trash from recyble and normal trash together into one big basket. Its just a show that they care. Welcome to china. Not to even mention the awful service with 0 emotions.

After all, the first-class city's airport facilities are well-equipped and thoughtful, that is, to take a long distance, please set off in advance.

I was lucky to visit this airport during Chinese Spring Festival. I found the airport very cold and uncomfortable during my layovers.

Really expensive after the city prices, wifi doesn't work, boring.

Amazingly huge and organized. It took us 10 min to check in and reach the right terminal before we started to explore the shops and then decided to take a bite at one of the restaurants facing the runway. It was a great experience.

The airport is large, clean, beautiful, safe. All signs and signs are duplicated in English. In the second terminal, unlike the third, it is difficult to find free places for charging the phone. WiFi is more difficult to connect than in Sheremetyevo. In the business hall, it s not that alcohol is gone, it s only DOSHIRAK from the grub. The work of transport is excellent. A free shuttle bus runs between the terminals. Buses, aeroexpress and taxis go to the city. True, buying tickets for aeroexpress and metro, this is a quest! All machines are only in Chinese. Of the 10 tickets, only one understands in English. And tickets to the subway are sold not just at the entrance, but at the distance you go. In general, if the first time I stood at the vending machine for about 15 minutes and created a queue of a million Chinese, then it s a matter of habit. Airport staff does not speak (well, or speak very poorly) in the language of the aggressor.

I had two stopovers here on my way from Copenhagen to Tokyo and back. This is by far the worst airport i have ever been in. There is no kiosk, only a Starbucks, two duty free stores (liquor and make-up) and a KFC. All the vending machines only support CNY or some weird Smartphone payment system that no one except the Chinese have ever heard of. The Airport has no active Aircondition whatsoever, and it smells everywhere. The toilets are dirty and there is nothing at all to do or see in the airport. I will give them one star for having a small playground for kids.

Also, during a stopover you still have to go through a ridiculously thorough security check with typically unfriendly chinese staff. This airport is absolutely despicable. I will never land here again, or fly with Air China.

It does seem that stopovers land in a different part of the airport and not in the main Beijing airport. So your mileage may vary.

Limited shops and restaurants inside the international departure zone. But the immigration and custom clear process is so efficient.

Beijing Airport staff are very impolite and of poor quality. They will gesticulate passengers and have to go through security again during transit.
Of course, because it is in Beijing, all silly situations can become understandable again.

Stayed here for 4 hours hours in the international terminal for a connecting flight. No airco which makes it a stuffy environment and will give you a headache if you have to wait to long. Not a lot of food shops to choose from and it could do with a convenience store. The Starbucks is just takeaway; no seating. The toilets look a little old and smell of urine. The free wifi is to slow so useless. Hardly any power sockets to charge devices. Beautiful exterior design but in the interior looks a little less professional. Poor English speaking skills of the staff which is strange for such a big airport that handles so many international flights.

The free wifi doesn't work. Also all websites don't work. There is not enough aircon and airport has poor ventilation. The airport is usually dark and gray looking very depressing. The staff are rude and recently they added maozedongs face with the tiananmen right after the first boarding pass check. there are always delays and the airport is very inefficient and lack of shopping choices. Transport to the airport is usually done buy car or taxi.

Flights to Hong Kong, Guangzhou and other major cities of china are constantly delayed. Ranging from 2-12 hrs delays. Not sure what the heck they're doing in the control tower. This is all over the news as well. Almost 3 years and problem is getting worse.

Overall, the airport is large but inefficient and not well operated. Hong Kong is better despite the old age of airport. It's still very well maintained with good shops and placed to visit while waiting for flights.

Visit by transfer of airplane. The exhibits were interesting.

We were able to change the scale of our Laotian kips.

We stopped there on our outbound flight with Air China on January 14, 2019 and another on the return on April 24, 2019. It is modern and the atmosphere is rather austere. We were able to rest in quiet areas while waiting for our flights. I was able to finally change my Laotian kips there but the commission is very high. We got $ 16.00 US when we had the equivalent of about $ 33.00 CAN or about $ 24.00 US. It s better than losing everything because nowhere in Vietnam and Thailand have we been able to change them. We have been categorically refused in both countries. We have some photos to share with you.

Extreme poverty for customer service.

We passed two hair to miss our Air China flight CA979 for Bangkok on January 13, 2020. The departure of our Air China flight CA880 departing from Montreal had been delayed by two hours because of the ice and snow and we are arrived in Beijing with very little time to catch our connecting flight to Bangkok. We had to ask people to line us up in one of the many exaggerated exaggerated checkpoints. We empty our suitcases there without embarrassment and we have to repack everything quickly. We were very stressed when we saw on the board the final call for flight CA979 which had fortunately also been delayed until 9:05 pm. We were sure to miss our flight when we realized that we would never get to gate E7 in time. An evil guardian angel offered to take us to the door in time with his electric vehicle. He makes a phone call while driving and assures us that we will leave. He also told us while driving that the cost was $ 10.00 US per person! We were his slaves and had no choice anyway. We were cooked if we didn't have US dollars with us. This is pure scam and we deplore this exploitation of customers who are in urgent need to snatch money from them. None of the staff knew anything about this delayed flight from Montreal and the travelers who were to take their flight to Bangkok. It would be the least of things to establish a special service system for situations like we experienced yesterday. There would certainly have been a way to open a line for travelers on flight CA880 from Montreal, but absolutely nothing was done. We escaped it beautiful and this $ 20.00 US to help us out is not yet digested.

In such a large international airport, wifi is actually not available. I sent more than a dozen text messages to my mobile phone to obtain a wifi-enabled number, but none of them succeeded. Scan the ID to obtain the number, and said that the machine cannot be used. . .

Cool place. Big... love the fountain and showers were clean... Bring a towel lol Yes showers I know right,,, I found a nice suprize. food is ok the western food not that western or good. Good place to rest on lay over was fountain near shower, upstairs nice can be busy. Taxi was kinda cheap don't pay first price they ask. Offer half be firm no shortage of taxi's

Coldest airport in the world, i could see people with winter coats, gloves, etc, just waiting for the plane. It can get confusing to get that temp VISA, plus the queue is huge, not enough people working on it

Good airport. A bit outdated look and feel, although it was modernized not long ago.

Huge. It is a very modern airport with easy access. Something chaotic at the exit but quite well controlled. Security takes pictures of taxis when boarding them. Taxi drivers do not know what a tip is and they return it to you. O_o '

A star because zero can't be done. Experience to forget. Poor and interpretable indications. During the stopover, we would have had several hours to visit Beijing. But we got the wrong row .. instead of the Immigration we took a row with written 24 hours transfer because under it was written (applying to leave the Airport) thinking it was the right direction ... But oh well our mistake. The fact is that at the information desk a very ACID and VERY RUDE employee made us understand that there was a way to go back and visa 72h to go out. Following his instructions we arrived at the top of these stairs we find one of the security who tells us no! And as we could no longer go back due to some one-way bars, we had to repeat the baggage check procedures and various stamps. The airport system does NOTHING to help you if you're wrong. Nobody wants to take responsibility for telling you what to do. Not to mention their English. INCOMPREHENSIBLE. Most of the people who work there can't tell you anything more than they have to tell you based on their role. We will never go back. If you are wrong you stay screwed .. like us who spent 18 hours in a terminal with wifi that does not work. NEVER AGAIN

SECURITY: **
I went in early august and travelled back through this airport around sept 9/ 2018. We were in terminal 3 or 4 I cannot be 100%sure. It was very slow and tedious going throughout the security screening, and temperature is uncomfortably warm in the security area. As they dont speak much English it is hard to follow directions what they want you to do.
On our way back the passport self scanner we scanned, and we were yelled at by security to move to the other side right away which was very rude as he yelled on top of his lungs, i was very tempted to ask him why does he have to yell like that? he can communicate calmly to us. ;(

AIRPORT STAFF HELPFULNESS: 1 star *
It was really hard for us to find someone who can speak enough english to help us. I guess speaking Chinese will be more helpful. A book or translation device would be handy. Most staff in the restaurants , duty free or almost anywhere do NOT speak any english at all, and was pleasantly surprised that a janitor was able to help us in english than anyone-else.

Wifi: only exists in theory, it does not work ever.

RESTAURANT/ FAST FOOD: zero stars
Our terminal had handful of Chinese food places and 1 KFC and pizza hut. It was extremely frustrating to get no help at pizza hut. At this pizza hut you are supposed to sit at your seat and they come and help you there. The staff realized we were non-chinese speakers and would not come to take our order for good 25 mins, I had to go and get some guy who could come and help us. The rest of the staff just hid in the back and even upon calling would not come to us i am assuming because of language barrier. Finally that one guy was willing to attempt to take our order and we were able to order a basic cheese pizza. I had to point to a jug of water to indicate that we would like water please as staff did not know what "water" was.
at the table they had forms which has options to select what you want to order but we just wanted just a basic cheese or vegetable pizza which option was not there so forget it trying to explain to staff if you want to explain to them that what you want is not the form. :)

RESTING LOUNGE: ***
We were provided a special lounge because we were at the airport for a full day almost. The receptionist at the lounge was completely dumb founded and did not know anything about us having a lounge and it took a few minutes for us to clarify and finally for her to acknowledge that we have a lounge.
A very rude pakistani-canadian couple with one child took up 4 couches ( 2 extra to put their feet) took 2 extra couches and it was not enough couches for everyone and there were people sitting/ sleeping on the floor too.
there was free food in the lounge such as coffee, soft drinks, cookies , biscuits and i was the warm stuff in the warmers is for premium travellers only which was not really that appetizing to look at anyways.
All juices/ sodas in the fridge were past the expiry date but the staff informed me that in CHINA the expiry is one year after the date on the product which i have not heard before, maybe someone can verify that?
Lounge has showers too which is a plus point.

TEMPERATURE:
I travelled both ways through this airport during aug and september and both times the temperature was was on the high side and uncomfortable specially in the security screening area.

CONCLUSION:
I would NOT recommend travelling though this airport specially if you have health problems, have kids who would be bored or annoyed or impatient easily, are an elderly or travelling with elderly , or get frustrated easily.
First of all passing through the security is uncomfortably hot temperature wise,
2nd there is language problems so if your flight is missed, delayed or anything like that it will be really hard explaining the staff to help you with that.
if you are getting a good deal on the ticket then and can bypass all the hurdles then by all means travel through here.

Moreover, when I was asked to issue a ticket, an unfamiliar old man approached me and entered in Chinese with an airline employee to translate.
When I was wondering if there are kind people in China, he said, "You Japanese, I have a lot of money. Pay 100,000 yuan!"

Good airport. Strict security checks which give you a good feeling of being safe, long opening of duty free shops, free WiFi available, very clean and free water cooler available.
Transfer within 45 minutes is possible. During winter time it is bit cold inside especially during midnight time.

I visited here for transfer. And it was quite big airport. You can use free WiFi with your phone verification but it s slow. And there are not that much places to eat. But it doesn t matter. There are few flight imformation boards here so you have to check by yourself clearly. Good luck with your flight thank you

I had the worst flying experience of my life at this airport. They canceled my flight at the last moment. Finding someone who spoke English and helping me understand what to do and where to go was really difficult. Besides, the security guards were really rude.

Doing beautiful tour almost 2weeks.everything is been imazing and think to comeback chose some place we like.but while we arive at airport do check in they take my power bank been with me over other country there is no problem but they take my powerbank eppend I have the resive to saw they say not anough evident I really do love my powerbank get match with my phone.this extensions is really make fail all that beautiful experiences and the line to long no wonder many people miss they flayed.bye China

Horrible airport. Make sure you have enough time between connecting flights as the queues are ridiculous and there are people cutting in all the time everywhere! Once you got your boarding pass stamped you have to queue to get it stamped again... Very expensive food (bad quality), no wifi, no smoking facilities (Chinese people smoking in the bathrooms anyway), rude staff. I hope I never have to go through that airport again.

Very weak services. A/c not working propey. One of the worst I have been to...

T2, for domestic reasons, feels more depressed. It may be due to the weather, just in time for more than 600 Ppm in Beijing.

Every simple steps become complicated at this airport. No real wifi for tourists. We lost our checked luggage during transited at BCIA.

Huge airport!!! Well organized and properly staffed, kind and accommodating.
Probably one of the biggest I've been.
In the rush hour, traffic is jammed, like everywhere else in the world. So please please put some buffer like 3 hours prior your flight. I almost missed my flight and having cold sweats.

Beijing Capital International Airport.

I waited for about two hours at the airport to catch the plane to Japan.

I went to China on a business trip for 4 nights and 5 days, but I was very happy when I thought, "I can finally go back to Japan !!!".

When I was finally about to board an ANA plane, a CA woman said, "Please go home !!!" at the entrance of the plane.

I was very impressed because I didn't expect to be told such a thing. I really thought, "I'm glad I was born in Japan !!!".

It was a good experience to go to China on a business trip, but I realized once again that it is good to be able to live in Japan every day.

Also, as a bonus, I found that the essence of the taste of Japanese cuisine is "soy sauce." As long as you have soy sauce, the food will be Japanese.

I really never write reviews, but if you have a way to avoid changing at this airport, do it. There is one (!!!!!) single line for all connecting flights in the whole airport, I have never seen such a long line in an airport in my life. If you don't want to miss your flight, you HAVE to push yourself forward, and you're not the only person. Complete chaos, crowds, people yelling and spitting on, nowhere staff, and when you find staff they don't speak English and / or ignore you. After successfully pushing through the endless queue at the beginning, a second, much more chaotic queue is added for the person control. Absolute chaos. When you are finally done with all of this and have not missed your flight by then, you can enjoy no internet, no smoking area and again almost no staff. The change in Shanghai was very relaxed!

The International terminal is very large. It is clean and comfortable, and friendly to English speakers. The food options were very limited for a building of this size, and the prices were in line with what you would expect at an airport.

Good airport. Very efficient through the VIP channel. From arriving to getting to the lounge took 15 minutes on a Sunday morning at 9am. That's the fastest I have ever managed in China.

China Eastern Lounge is functional and even has a chef station cooling noodles.

Lots of shops and facilities. Easy to find places to charge your phone / laptop / Ipad.

Was lucky to be at the airport on a Blue Sky day.

Smokers be warned. There is no smoking at this airport. If you smoke, you must smoke outside before you enter the building.

Yes, the airport infrastructure is first class, but the management is third world standard. No proper deployment of manpower at important checkpoint resulted in massive queue. The staff are rude and treat you like a criminal. Over-crowed plane parking space. The shop are selling over-priced goods that are aimed to rob a tourist. What a disappointment when I did a transit there.... avoid if you can.

It doesn't really feel like a place to go countless times a year.

Took a connecting flight from this airport.. Not as confusing as you'd think! Most of the signs are in English as well, and people are very helpful too. Be sure not to keep any open liquids in your checked in bag, cause the scanner automatically tracks and flags it.

Ick! The whole experience was beyond awful. Having the reclaim the checked bags in order to transfer flights was not only an inconvenience and a waste of time, it created so much frustration with the over-and-over-again security check point. It makes no sense.

Terrible Airport. No food, no drinks, cold. Verry unpleasant..

Had a layover there in 2018. It was a spacious airport that looks well maintained but, there weren`t that many stores but the worst part was how intimidating the security is in China. They were fairly threatening about recording and taking pictures (Sucks as I saw a rare NK Tupolev), and ultimately we had to go through an extra screening.

The customs response is most unfriendly. Maybe because there are many people ... Cigarettes can be smoked when they go out, but security is low when they enter. I think that it is better to manage air pollution than that.

I have very mixed feeling about his airport. When I left in 1997, there were only two terminals. One was reserved for "officials." The custom offers used to treat everyone like a spy. BTW, I speak Mandarin. Silver lining, they did not discriminate.

The custom officers are MUCH better now. There are also many more terminals now, also more chaos. Unnecessary checks and checks. Checking in and out feels like endless battles, especially for international travelers. So arrive early and be prepared.
