I have flown through most of the world's large airports, and without question Beijing is the worst. Horrible check in process, INSANE security, and we had to take a bus in and out of our plane. Fly to Shanghai and take the train if you really want to visit Beijing (which I don't recommend anyway)

Be warned to not go in a taxi which approaches you. There needs to be a better system to catch a taxi.

Such a bad experience. I went there for an international transfer, it was only 4:30AM but the queue was so long. The procedure took around 1 hour and a half. The WIFI was working poorly and most of website or app such as Messenger were blocked.

Great organization here in Beijing! A really perfectly functioning airport. Very friendly and helpful employees where most of them speak English and of course understand it. Other airports should and could learn a thing or two from here. It was a pleasure! But not to be recommended for transfer.

Very large and convenient airport. Between flights it was 7 o clock and fell at night, we quietly slept in KFC on sofas. A big plus is free water: boiling water and cold. There are not many places to charge the phone. To connect free wi-fi, you need a Chinese phone number. In general, a good impression remained.

Flights from this airport almost always depart late. Consider yourself lucky if you are late for 1 or 2 hours. Last time i sat on tarmac for about 4 hours. By the way the self check in machines for Air China will not work if you hold foreign passport. Be prepare to queue for 1.5 hours before check in counters.

You ll see the most helpful, welcoming and enthusiastic airport staffs compared to those in other major international cities. The restrooms are very clean with cleaners frequently checking each toilet seats. They ll even great you in English and heartwarming smiles! Incredible experience.
Be aware that Chinese airports has strict security checks upon entering the airport. Make sure you plan your time ahead when travelling from Beijing.

As the transit counter is hard to understand, and the first one is careful, as it is extremely wide (about 3 km from end to end). I decided to negotiate a transit flight because the aircraft was delayed, but there are only two transit counters. (There will be a couple of hundred tourists on the way.) Travel by train running in the airport to the airport entrance (where there is an airline counter) to waste several hours waiting there It is good. Now you can arrange your tickets many times faster if you negotiate at the relevant airline counter. Also, vending machines in the airport can not use credit cards. The staff is busy and speaks in short words, but it is not necessarily unfriendly. If you ask me, I will answer correctly.

Stopped here on our way to the Philippines. This airport is massive! I think it may have too much space for the amount of people in it. I do have one complaint which was asking for wifi. Apparently, it is free, but so complicated to get it. I asked around, but the airport staff barely spoke English and were misdirecting me everywhere so I gave up on getting wifi. This was in 2011 so I hope it's changed!

My worst transfer airport so far. Smoking is not allowed and there are no smoking areas anywhere. It is difficult or even impossible to get out of the airport without a visa. Staff and restaurants convince 0. Never again this airport as a transfer airport. Never again!!

The worst airport I have ever visited by far. Facilities and building were all fine, but passport control seemed to go out of their way to slow things down. We were transferring through Beijing to and from Philippines and both time queued for a couple of hours to be processed.

Really disappointed with the service and infrastructure, went to have a shower in the airport lounge was overwhelmed with the smell of urine and stench of the seweage.
Very poorly equipped to deal with the large amount of masses that pass through the airport.
Staff is really rude and would not answer questions properly.
I could say that at its best it has an infrastructure of a glorified train station not of an international airport of a country boasting to be one of the "world super power"

Definitely amongst the largest Airport in the world. The place has been kept extremely organised and tidy. The washrooms are clean and hygienic. The staff is polite, friendly and helpful to it's guests. The expansive area will dispel the impression of crowd, but the walk could be tiresome. There are ample Longues available to cater to different people. Overall an excellent experience.

Although it is uselessly wide, infrastructure is not well prepared and it is difficult to move around in the airport. Also, airport security checks are strict, so it is recommended that you complete the departure procedures early. I took more than 30 minutes for security alone, and the neighbors from the neighboring area were hungry.

High punctuality, strict security check, perfect and novel terminal hardware facilities. Movement planning and design, clear human nature! The terminal is very large, it is a bit tired to walk, but the clearance is fast!

A giant airport, some som baths latrines (a bit weird for Westerners) preferably take a subway, if you don't know how to speak Chinese, they don't stop you. And the taxi service from the airport is very expensive compared to the average.

The baggage inspection at this airport is extremely strict in the world and it takes too much time, so the risk of missed flight is very high. It was two.
When I used this airport this year, as shown in the photo, the toilets in the airport were pretty clean. I don't think that all the toilets are like this, but I was quite surprised at the change.
When traveling to Europe, there were many routes via the Middle East, but if you can take a long transit time, Beijing Capital International Airport seems to be becoming an airport that does not feel stress even if you stay long, so in the future aggressive I think I can use it for.

Really complex, lines are really long at security, due to Beijing's high population. I would arrive even 3-4 hours before your flight, it's nice to be prepared for any situation, since international airports are unpredictable.

All in all OK. Immigration worked well and the staff could speak some english. Very long walkways. Many machines that take notes and coins. Ways to change money available. Seating available. Some duty free shops.

Smooth and efficient services, all connections to Beijing's city centre are relatively cheap. Personally preferred the Airport Express Train Line over the Airport Shuttle Bus and Taxi as road congestion can be unpredictable just as in any large cities. The only drawback will be carrying luggage to change to other subway lines downtown.

Has flew at this airport many times from Terminal 2 and 3. Building is nice looking but variety of shops and restaurants is pretty poor. In comparison to other big Chinese airports this is not much satisfactory as capital city airport. Maybe as new airport under construction they stopped investing into this one.

A very big and central airport, with nice decorations and some interesting shops, however there is not enough variety, as there are only relatively few restaurants, and most of the ships seem to just repeat themselves multiple times with tiny variations. The available shops are quite wide spread which means a lot of walking. Additionally, there are TV screens with advertising or something near almost every waiting area, which turn on automatically as soon as you approach them, which can be especially annoying if you're trying to find a quite place to rest at night.

Walking stick being confisticated as a hand luggage since it could function as a trekking stick, and the reason given was that the ending tip of the stick which is rather sharp for better performace on rocks can function as a weapon.
I am travelling with an elderly and no exception was given despite potential walking issues. In addition, I have travelled in various developed countries which the walking stick is never a problem on the hand carry luggage. Lastly, the creativity of the stick being a weapon is beyond my imagination. Will the elderly be able to stab the walking stick to someone else? Ridiculous!
Avoid!

I have been 100's airports from rich or poor countries and never been pick pockets anywhere only in Beijing Airport. I reported the case to airport police 5 minutes after the incident and still after a year never heard any feedback :( .
heard people say some time police and chives work together but i would rather not like to believe it.

One of the biggest fears of travelers to China is not understanding the language or that there are no alternatives to understand. Almost all transportation systems use Chinese and English.

Quite disappointed, for the size it has I was expecting better organization.
Arriving from Milan we could return directly to terminal D3 for the next flight but every time we asked for information the staff didn't even look at the ticket and pointed to the train. The fact is that we took the train to move from the terminal, do the checks and take the same train back to the D and repeat the checks.
Flying over the courtesy of the staff and their level of English for the rest the terminal is not bad at all: clean, tidy and very spacious

GREAT airport, very modern, most staff know English with a pretty strong accent, but understandable and most are very helpful. Like most other Chinese airports, free hot, warm, or cold water. Modern facilities and a janitor assigned to every bathroom(there are bathrooms everywhere so it is convenient) so they are always clean. Charging ports everywhere and enough space and chairs to lie down. Great restarants and stores and friendly security.

In regards to T2: woman working at the check in extremely rude and refused to speak to me in chinese despite me addressing her in chinese as if she couldnt believe I was able to speak mandarin. She took my departure slip and told me in english 'too early come back later'and pushed back my passport to me almost throwing it at me. i asked her when we could check in and she walked away. when i realised she took my departure card it was the time to check in. i tried inquiring to her if she know where my departure card was and before i could finish my sentence she yelled at me in english 'go write another one in security'.she paused a bit i believe realising she yelled quite loud at us as her colleagues were looking at her at this point. i managed to asked her in chinese the same question without being interrupted but by this time our bags were checked and she pushed our documents back to us and said 'ok'. the airport is fairly small in my opinion with a mix of international and domestic flights. we saw a few homeless people in the airport which I found strange as secuirity seemed very strict drug testing my partner and my 90yr old chinese grandad. 2 stars for the lei cafe staff for being so lovely and the restaurant upstairs as the food was good and the staff was very nice and accepted the fact i could speak both english and mandarin. there are very little areas for people to sit at wait in the lobby. i also put the 2 stars as when we reached security, my partner had forgotten he had a drink in his bag and the officers were about to have my partner frisked but i said to them in chinese with a smile/laughing 'he doesn't remember, hes very tired'. the guards relaxed a bit and when they found the drink they just smiled and laughed a bit and let my partner go. i apologised to the guards in chinese and they were very lovely after that telling me to be careful next time and to double check our bags beforehand. t3 is much better/cleaner/nicer, it's a shame we had to fly out of t2.

It's very cold inside. To rest and even sleep, better within the "safe zone", as it is huge and has little crowded areas and the bathrooms are very clean. The offer to eat is very limited and quite expensive. I insist on the cold because if you do not wear a good coat in winter you can have a very bad time!

Super busy airport in the Chinese capital. The airport is very fast pace. There's a metro line that connects passengers from terminal to terminal. However, I don't find the workers there very helpful, especially if you do not speak the language. Make sure to do research before hand and to know where to go to save time. On the bright side, airport is not that far from the city center, saving me a lot of money.

One of the largest airports! I flew to Novosibirsk from Terminal 3. Transplant 13 hours, it was difficult to find a place where you could sit. Cafes do not work at night. However, the currency exchange office is open all night. The staff of many cafes does not speak English. There are no problems with Wi-Fi.

If you re transferring, you need at least 2 hours....
If you re transferring, you need at least 2 hours. The plane you re on might dock in the middle of nowhere and needs a shuttle bus to actually get into the main airport. You ll go through security checkpoint to exit (you need to fill in a custom form) and go up a stair to another security checkpoint to enter (you need the other end of the custom form). If you miss your transfer, no one there speaks much English and will have difficulty understanding you. Depending on the time, mine was last flight, you ll spent another 12 hours in the airport. So good luck, you ll definitely need it.
The free wifi requires a local China phone number to receive the access code to use. Obviously I don t, so I had to ask another english speaking tourist to borrow his internet access to contact my family to let them know I missed the flight.
If you missed the connecting flight like I did, before you enter the upstairs entrance, on the right side is a ticket booth, and I had to pay $200 USD to reschedule my flight.

Terminal 3 is amazing. The structure is massive, the lines are short, amenities are abundant and the staff are friendly.
Terminal 1, being an older building, isn't as majestic as t3 but is still very good.
Terminal 2, however, is a huge let down. The entire building feels so old and dingy, and the lack of dining options in the international departure area is shocking.
