I dropped my 2019 Outback off at 9:00am for a routine 6-month service. They were ready and waiting. Check-in (by a very friendly and courteous Alvaro) took less than 5 minutes. Other staff members in the area were all welcoming. Alvaro showed me to the comfortable waiting area and Starbucks coffee machine and said it would take about an hour. I walked around the block to get a breakfast sandwich and brought it back to the waiting area. I had hardly finished my sandwich and coffee - about 40 minutes after check-in - and got a text from Alvaro saying the car was ready for pickup. Checking out was another 5 minutes max and I was off. Oil was changed, tire pressure slightly increased and standard check-list was filled out as completed (I can only assume it was all done) with no issues.

All in all a quick, courteous and efficient experience. Plus, I didn t even buy the car at Bayridge (bought it in Rhode Island near where we keep a boat). That said, I don t know how they could treat customers who bought their car at Bayridge any better. It was a routine service visit, and if major service or repairs are treated with equal efficiency and courtesy, I can can only highly recommend this facility.

Happy customer: Douglas

I have entrusted my 2003 Forester over the years to many different mechanics. While the car has had few problems, with age, some issues have arrived. Last year I had some suspension work done but for some reason, the steering became problematical. And - even after replacing the power steering pump, it was only a little better. However, Bay Ridge Subaru quickly diagnosed the problem, and fixed it for much less than I imagined it would cost. Clearly, when it comes to working on a Subaru, these guys really, really know what they re doing!
In addition, my liaison, Michael Otero, was personable, knowledgeable, and thorough. Overall, BRS did a great job, and I got my car back working properly for the first time in about 7 months! Thanks guys!

I usually buy Hondas and have to deal with salesmen telling me one interest rate and then getting a totally different rate from the finance person. ( and not my benefit) At Bayridge Subaru the entire staff was up front and interest rate didn't change from person to person. I will be going back and I recommend this place to friends/ family.

Update: Best and fastest service department I ve ever seen from any dealer. Trust me I ve leased cars all my life. There for my first oil change in my lease.
I was there and super happy that I got the lease deal I was looking for. I ordered the car and they said it'll be about 8 weeks (approximately 2 weeks after my current lease is over). I can deal with that and fine. 3 weeks after I ask for update on the car, the sales person I was working with been sick and not in very often for the week. I got a response from another person stating that my car may not be here until Sept or possibly Oct. I told them I cannot wait until Oct (12 weeks after I order my car when I was told 8 weeks). My work depends on my vehicle for transportation. I followed up again and haven't heard back from any of them after multiple emails and phone calls. BE WARE! YOU MAY NOT GET WHAT YOU WERE TOLD!!! MY UNCLE ALREADY TOLD ME THAT BUT I THOUGHT THE SERVICE WAS GREAT AND WENT AHEAD WITH THEM!!! Will update whether this gets resolved or not.

UPDATE: After I made multiple calls and physically went in on a Saturday morning to find out what is really going on, the service is now very attentive. I understand the delivery of the car may not be within their control, but all I ask for is be responsive and keep me updated. Therefore I can work out solutions with you.

We bought a Forester Limited 2.5i in January 2014 from Bay Ridge Subaru and were very happy with the whole experience. Joe Teti was a pleasure to work with. Never thought I'd say that buying a car was a pleasure, but Joe was really great. Friendly, polite, absolutely straight forward. Never felt I was being pressured and there were no hidden fees, everything was itemized in email before we even came in. Joe was very organized and made sure we were able to take the car home on the same day (e.g. car was prepped and Joe took care of as much paperwork as possible in advance with us by email). And Joe wrapped the whole deal up with a 30-45 minute in-car "lesson" about every single button, doo-dad, electronic gadget and he paired both our iPhones with the Bluetooth and showed us how to enter contacts.

In addition to a very good customer service experience with Joe, the price we got was the best from out of 6 dealerships within 60-90 minutes driving distance of Brooklyn. Yes, I really did get quotes from 6 dealerships (I do my homework!).

We purchased our first Subaru Forester from Bay Ridge Subaru and we are really happy with our entire experience. Chris helped us with the process and he was really knowledgeable about the vehicle and kind and understanding to our special needs son. Chris had us complete some of the paperwork from home to shorten our time waiting due to my sons limited patience and everything went smooth and fast. All around this was a great experience, Bay Ridge Subaru you are awesome.
We live in Staten Island and we went to Island Subaru first but Denis was very rude and belittling to our situation. The manager called and apologized and we decided to give them another chance but when we went back and wanted to see three car we were told non of them were available at that time. We decided this place was not meant to be and left. Their loss. Unfortunately we ve never been able to buy a car from Staten Island because of their poor attitudes.
Bay Ridge Subaru welcomed us with open arms and we highly recommend them especially Chris. Thank you again for our first Subaru Forester.

The newly renovated customer wait space served a good cup of joe, and a peaceful setting after work. All this while the best mechanic Billy, my personal service manager Mark serviced my car. Bay Ridge Subaru s Manager Andrew accommodated my schedule on a Friday night at my convenience.
I know hard to believe right? But it s true.
Thank you guys much appreciate the care and attention you continue to give me and Freddie the Forester! J Weingarten

I had a great experience with servicing my 2015 Subaru Forester at Bay Ridge Subaru. I needed new brake pads & rotars all around. I got an appointment right away, and they were ready for me when my car arrived. The work was done the same day and it was ready before the time I said I needed to pick Up my car (that same afternoon). Mark D Ottario was in charge of the oversight of the work and he was very courteous, friendly and communicated everything with me promptly. I will definitely have my car serviced here because of the excellent service I received.

I am a first time Subaru purchaser and was really impressed with the process. My Bay Ridge Subaru Sales Rep, Raymond Duran, was very helpful and there was no pressure. When I picked up the car today, I was given a full tutorial of the car and not rushed at all.

Everyone was knowledgeable and I highly recommend Bay Ridge Subaru.

Mr. Michael took care of me from the moment i stepped in until the moment I left. I told him I was a student, and that I would only be able to do warranty work on my vehicle. Instead of trying to con me into spending money I didnt have, he worked with me to get my car up and running again. I went to two other dealers in the NYC area, and both times they wanted me to pay for my warranty work or tried to con me into spending for things I didn't need. I really appreciated Bay Ridge Subaru and Michael's commitment to helping me get my car back to optimal condition. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs work on their car.

i had purchased a trade in car from them, after having them replace the 2 front tires because they were so bald and no tread was left on the tires. i picked up the car a week later only to have the alinement of the car be completely off. after contacting them for over one month, they finally told me they couldnt do anything unless i would bring it in. i came from philly 2 times for the car and they wanted me to drive back another 2 hours to fix an alinement that they had messsed up! nothing was done to help me out besides the fact they tried to sell me a car with no tires tread! very unproffessional, would not recommend doin business with them. and if you decide to, make sure everything is 100% ok with the car because they just dont seem to be able to get things right!!

Made an appointment over the phone to see a car with Mike C. The day of the appointment, we received a call and an email to confirm that we would be still coming. We confirmed. Yes we would be there. So we then made the two hour drive from Suffolk county long island to Brooklyn in rush hour traffic. Only to get there and have no one know who we were or that we had an appointment. Mike C. was nowhere to be found, and the car we had driven all that way to see was up on the lift with all 4 tires removed... with the mechanics nowhere to be found as well. Was told to reschedule our appointment for another time. No thank you. Very unprofessional way to treat a potential customer.

Pamela is phenomenal - she kept me apprised of repairs, helped me navigate insurance, and genuinely cared about me and my family - making sure we were safely back on the road ASAP. Her communication was excellent, follow up came in phone calls and emails, and she articulately explained exactly what was happening with my car. She also listened to my concerns and questions and doggedly followed-up if there was something she didn t know. Overall, an A+ experience with a genuinely knowledgeable Subaru representative!!

They did a point inspection on my subaru, also had a recall needed to be done, was just testing water to check if they do really an inspection, so i checked on my car 1st basing on their inspection list that i got from a friend, i know for a fact that my brake pads needs to be replaced as i measured the thickness just for safety measure. My brake lines are due for a recall, mind you, i took a pic of everything before recall esp. the parts that needed to be fix for recall,

Recall list
Airbag
Brake lines

Air bag recall the center dash have to be completely remove, when i got my car back, center console button were hard to twist, yes all of em, air flow, air temp, knobs were hard to twist.

Brake lines recall
Before i brought my car i made sure to take pictures of my brake lines, no leaks as im pretty sure a year ago i did replace my brake lines myself.

When i got my car back, drove it for a bit, then i check, right front passenger side is puking out brake fluid.

Customer service is pretty amazing on this dealership, i just don't think their mechanics is doing their jobs right, there's no integrity on the work done.

Im very peculiar with Subaru, as i myself do all do the mechanical repair on my vehicle, just happened there's a recall on my subie that is running strong w/ 289k miles on my forester. My brake pad where clear as day that its shouting for a replacement but when they handed my the inspection list everything was green. Wow just wow.

3 years ago, I went SUV shopping. As I hate being at the mercy of sales people, reviews (the legitimate ones) really matter to me, I actually make a chart: Milage, capacity, length (parking in NYC is a critical factor), etc.... I thought that this might lead me toward a Honda CRV, as it was highly rated. Both the test drive & the closest dealer (who would've been very convenient) were a disappointment. The sales staff were aggressive kids (dressed for clubs more than commerce), the car seemed claustrophobic & over designed, more a space ship then car: my age might be prejudicial in this regard.....

I headed over to Bay Ridge Subaru, my salesman, Cornelius Middleton, was a welcome contrast to my prior experience in the best sense: Informed, mild but enthusiastic about his product & engaged, he's a salesman in the best sense.

I chose a Forrester & checked with my accountant for the benefits of money down vs monthlycost. I also checked with my insurance agent, who assured me that my rates wouldn't rise substantially. She didn't realize that my liability rates would have to increase in coverage as per Subaru's requirements, so check that when planning.

As for the test drive, I liked the sense of openness that the ratio of glass afforded. As someone who loads lots of stuff (tools, gear, etc...) the less rounded styling matters in terms of fitting large boxes, etc.

Some details that I didn't love (which my have been addressed in interim years): No internal tie downs or way to lash back door if you've got to leave ajar for large or long items, I don't care too much about backseat comfort (subjective, I know) & would trade some padding for a dead flat cargo area when seats are down. One has to move front seats forward to clear back seat headrests when dropping seats. I had occasion to rent a competitor's SUV recently (granted a new model) where the headrests could be sprung 90 degrees for this purpose, a nice detail. Being older, I'd love an integrated compass, the knurling on the large knobs felt nice & it would've been nice on small (radio) knobs. This is excessively picky, I know, particularly as one winds up adjusting on steering wheel, anyway. I wish there was a hands free back door opener (I believe only the ford escape has a foot activated opener). It seems fussy, but I'm often carrying stuff I don't want to put down in order to lift door, perhaps the latter greatest model has an electronic opener...). While I'm discussing the back door, check to see if your head clears it when open, doesn't matter how great the vehicle, if your head is lumpy....As I often have a SUP or kayak on the roof rack, the antenna, didn't last long, frustrating as most anything one puts on top would generally, interfere with stalk. I did notice this has been redesigned...

The above is nit-picky (I care about design). Generally I like the ride, the function & comfort (I've had slightly better seating, though).

As regards service, I've been generally very happy. The staff, most notably, the service manager Marc Dottavio, have been pleasure to deal with. Like Cornelius, he is professional, pleasant & responsive, a real gentleman. As such I was surprised by some of the negative reviews, I read. I have needed two visits to address some issues: A dead battery, was deep charged initially & then cheerfully replaced when that didn't work. Some severe chatter (at 60mph) needed two visits (If its front end, ask for test drive after initial repair. During a drive to Florida, the brakes began to squeal. I called dealer to see if covered & never got a call back. Subsequently I called a local Subaru dealer & would've had to wait a week for appointment so I opted to spend $500 independently, so trip wouldn't be ruined. However, most every repair, apart from oil & filter was well done under warranty, a big plus to new cars or leasing.

I hope this is helpful to you as a prospective customer & a reward to the business in return for my experience. I've sent friends to them & am looking at a second Forrester & leasing agreement.

We recently purchased a used vehicle at Bay Ridge Subaru. The car salesman, Joseph Teti, was extremely helpful through the whole process, particularly since we came from DC to get the car. He did all the negotiating with me via phone and then sent me all the information via email. He made it real easy to buy a car remotely!

We got a very good deal on this car and are happy with their customer service. The only issue was that they forgot to tell us the car only came with one key after we had made the purchase.

We're very fond of our 2006 Outback, and when it started to show its age, Bay Ridge Subaru gave us extraordinary service. They gave it back to us in top shape, ready for another 150,000 miles. The staff, especially Andrew Gerace the service manager and Marc D'Ottavio, my service adviser, were unfailingly courteous and patient with a customer who doesn't know as much as he should about what's under the hood. They answered all my questions, and gave us a loaner vehicle for the time the repair would take. It's good to be able to trust your auto repair place, and these folks are eminently trustworthy.
